James Getman, 82 years old, and a resident of the town of Columbia, died suddenly while on a visit to this village Monday afternoon. Mr. Getman came down on a business trip with a friend and called on Fred A. Fuller of Folts street, who is a relative. During the afternoon he was taken suddenly ill and died in a few hours. The remains were cared for by Undertaker Howell and his son-in-law, John Miller, notified.

Fred J. Sheldon, husband of Elice G. Sheldon who died in llion February 6, 1937, received the bulk of her estate, valued at $36,226.74, gross, according to an appraisal filed at County Surrogate's office.
Legacies consist of $300 to Marcus Grant, a brother at Franklin Springs; $100 to Mrs. Iva MacGregor of Rye Beach; the income from a $1,600 trust fund to a sister, Mrs. Eva G. Hansel, of Richfield Springs; $100 to Dutch Reformed church of Columbia for the care of cemetery lots of the Sheldon's parents.
From the gross estate, the sum of $2,696.10 for funeral, administrative and other expenses was deducted, leaving a net estate of $33,530.64. The estate tax is $130.03.
The appraisal shows that the deceased left real estate valued at $6,350, as follows: a half-interest on property on John St., llion, $2,350; four acres of swampland in the town of Columbia, $100; farm of 184 acres, with buildings, in the town of Columbia, $3,500; summer camp on Black River, in the town of Remsen, $400. May 2.—At an early hour Wednesday morning, occurred the sudden death of Harvey Getman, aged 81 years. Mr. Getman was in poor health during the winter, but for the past few months had felt much improved. He ate his supper as usual Tuesday evening, but during the night was taken suddenly ill and soon expired. Mr. Getman was a farmer by occupation and one of the oldest residents of Columbia Center, both in age and residence, having been bom in the house in which he died. He is survived by two children. Marshall Getman and Mrs. Daniel Stroup, both of Columbia Center. The funeral will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the church at Columbia Center.

Columbia Center, died Saturday in Ilion Hospital.
He was born July 20, 1867, in the Town of Columbia in the home in which he spent most of his life. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Getman and married Lena Shoemaker in 1888.
Mr. Getman was a charter member of Columbia Center Methodist Church and had held offices in the church since 1888. He was also a charter member of Millers Mills Grange and in 1946 received a golden sheaf for 50-year membership.
Active in politics, Mr. Getman was town clerk from 1907 to 1914 and justice of the peace for 21 years from 1922 to 1943. He was a councilman for five years from 1944 to 1949.
He leaves his wife; two nephews, Clyde Stroup, Utica, and Donald Stroup, Johnson City.
Services will be 1:30 p. m. Wednesday from the Applegate Funeral Home and at 2:30 from the Columbia Center Methodist Church with the pastor, the Rev. Hervey Brown, officiating. Interment will be in Columbia Center.
