 - Obituary (Daily Sentinel, Rome, N.Y., Wednesday Evening, March 19, 1930)
  Oneida. March 19. — Llewellyn Miller Getman, 25, died at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Getman, 511 Main street, last night, following an illness of meningitis said to have been brought on by a sprained ankle sustained last fall.
  The young man was born in this city, June 19, 1905, where he had spent the most of his life. Surviving besides the parents are his wife and a son Robert; two brothers, Clifford and Lyle and two sisters, Mrs. Alice Genge and Mary.

  Easter Wedding Solemnized ... Oneida, April 18—The marriage of Miss Mary J. Ferguson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Saltier of Boonville and Llewellyn M. Getman. son of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Getman, 327 Pleasant avenue, this city, was solemnized at the First Methodist Episcopal church, Saturday evening at 7 o'clock. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. George V. Benton, pastor of the church.
  Miss Alice Getman, sister of the bridegroom, was maid of honor and Claude Ferguson, brother of the bride, was best man. Miss Mildred Ferguson, a sister of the bride, and Miss Dorothy Kilts, were bridesmaids. Eugene Niles was ring bearer and Florence Hess was flower girl.
  The bride wore a gown of blue crepe faced satin trimmed with gold, with hose and slippers to match and carried a bouquet of white roses. The maid of honor wore a light blue crepe de chine gown trimmed with silver and carried a bouquet of roses and pink sweet peas. Miss Kilts wore a gown of yellow georgette trimmed with" orchid and carried a bouquet of roses and sweet peas while Miss Ferguson wore a gown of blue crepe de chine and carried a basket of roses and sweet peas.
  Following the ceremony a reception was given at the home of the bridegroom's parents. The couple left for a wedding tour and upon their return will reside at 332 Stone street, this city.
  Mrs. Getman is a graduate nurse of the Broad Street Hospital and has been employed as community nurse at Sherrill by the Oneida Community Limited. The bridegroom is employed at the House shoe store.

  DELMAR - Alice Genge Bowman, 98, Paxwood Road, formerly of Clearwater, Fla. and the Oneida area, died Wednesday, May 10, 2006 in St. Peter's Hospice, Albany, following a brief illness.
   Born in Constantia, on Jan. 16, 1908, she was the daughter of Jesse J. and Aurelia Miller Getman. Recently moving to the Albany area from Florida, Mrs. Bowman was a graduate of Oneida High School, Class of 1926. She first married Jerden P. Genge in Oneida on June 15, 1929. They moved to Florida in 1968, and later returned to New York. Mr. Genge died on June 11, 1973. She later married John H. Bowman on June 30, 1974.
   Mrs. Bowman owned and operated, with her late husband Jerden, the Oneida Lake Marina for seven years, and had previously been employed with the Syracuse Herald-Journal and the former New York Central Railroad. While residing in Oneida, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church and Beta Sigma Phi, a business women's association.
   Surviving besides her husband, John; are two daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and John Collier of Delmar and Marilyn and Roger Edkin of Hayesville, N.C.; one daughter-in-law, Merna Genge of Verona; two step-daughters, Jeannine and her husband, Thomas Lushbaugh of Temecula, Calif. and Catherine A. Smith of Pittsford; 14 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
   She was predeceased by a son, Jerden E. Genge on May 4, 2002; three brothers, Llewellyn M. Getman, Clifford D. Getman and Lyle C. Getman; and one sister, Marion Shelters.
   Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Monday from the Campbell-Dean Funeral Home, Inc. 260 Main St., Oneida. Interment will be made in Valley View Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home 10-11 a.m., Monday.

  Helen Wakefield Getman , 85, died Thursday at Birchwod Health Care Center, Liverpool. She was born in Vienna. She lived for many years in Oneida. She lived in Phoenix for eight years and then in Rome for five years. She was educated at the Clara Barton School. She worked in the Oneida office of the Chase Lincoln Bank. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Oneida Post 169. She was past president and former board member of the North Broad Street Parent Teachers Association. She was a former Girl Scout leader. She was a former member of the Mizpah Rebekahs. Her husband, Lyce C., died in 1998. Her son, Roy L., died in 1963.
   Survivors: A daughter, Wava-June Pitcher of Liverpool; two sisters, Florence Johns of Dunedin, Fla. and Ethel Quain of Seattle, Wash.; three grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.   Syracuse, May 20 (ap) Roy L. Getman, 18, of Oneida, died today in Syracuse Memorial Hospital of injuries suffered yesterday when his automobile crashed, Oneida police said, they pursued him at 90 miles an hour.
  The automobile struck a utility pole and a tree near Oneida and overturned in a field.

  LYONS Miss Betty J. Shelters, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Howard M. Shelters of 188 Canal St. and Edward Mercurio of 1 Butternut St., Lyons were married Saturday, Nov. 30 at the United Methodist Church, Lyons. The bridegroom is the son of Mrs. Antonia Mercurio of Shuler St., and the late Anthony Mercurio Sr.
  The Rev. Jack Kissel, pastor of the church, performed the ceremony before the altar decorated with yellow pompons and rust colored daisies. Mrs. Earle Rice was organist.
  Escorted to the altar by her father, the bride wore a Victorian style full length, white gown trimmed with Venetian lace. Her three-tiered elbow length veil was held by a Juliet cap trimmed with the lace and pearls. She carried a cascade of white carnations, yellow pompons and rust colored daisies.
  Mrs. Kathleen Phillips of Newark was matron of honor for her sister. The bridesmaids were Mrs. Joan Gravino of Newark, sister of the bride; Mrs. Angela Dayton of Lyons, sister-in-law of the bride and Mrs. Linda Gulla of Lyons.
  Anthony Mercurio Jr. of Lyons was best man for his brother. The ushers were Anthony Phillips of Newark, brother-in-law of the bride, and Anthony Gulla and Arthur Schutt Jr. of  Lyons.
   Tracy Kelsey of Lyons, niece of the bride, was flower girl and Mark Gravino of Newark, nephew of the bride, was ring bearer.
   Following a wedding reception at the Lyons Elks Club for 200 guests, the young couple left for a honeymoon at Niagara Falls, Canada.
  The bride graduated from Lyons Central School and is employed at Garlocks Inc. at Palmyra. The bridegroom is a graduate of Lyons Central School and is employed as a salesman in Newark.

  Mr. Ido, a graduate of Vernon High School, is employed by Kobe Manufacturing Company, Los Angeles, Calif. His wife is a graduate of Oneida High School.

 - 25th Anniversary (Daily Snetinel, Rome, NY, Wednesday, July 28, 1965)
  ONEIDA - Mr. and Mrs. Reynold Ido, 239 Summit Ave. celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary yesterday.
  The couple was honored recently in observance of the event by the Freeman Class of the Oneida Baptist Church at the summer home of Mr. and Mrs. Garold King, Pulaski.
  The event also marked the annual summer picnic of the group. Following dinner, wedding cake and ice cream was served in honor of the anniversary and the couple received many gifts.
  The former Yvonne Hess of Oneida and Reynold Ido of Vernon, were married in Glendale, Calif., July 27, 1940. They have three children, Merwin, with the U.S. Air Force, now stationed in Japan; Douglas, a student at Union College in Schenectady; and Barbara, a student at Oneida senior High School. They also have one grandchild. Mr. and Mrs. Ido operate the Miss Oneida Diner in Oneida.
  In addition to the 27 class members and the guests of honor, Mrs. Harry Ido of Glendale, Calif., and Mrs. Grove Hess of Oneida, mothers of the couple, also attended.

  Promotion of Leslie M. Hess Sherrill. to the rank of lieutenant colonel in the Army Reserves has been announced by Col. Donald E. Sperry, Commanding officer of the 1333rd Logistics Command, headquartered at the Elihu Root Training Center, Burrstone Rd., Utica.
  Col. Hess, the 1333rd's director of security plans and operations, is an industrial engineer with Oneida Ltd. in Sherrill.
  During World War II he served in the China-Burma-India Theater as liaison attached to the 100th Chinese Army, Later he was with a search detachment largely charged with rescue of downed Allied airmen.

1946.
  Mr. Hess was a veteran of World War II having served in the Navy.

  Mrs. Switts resided in Hastings most of her life. She was a member of Puritan Chapter 169, OES, Parish, and the Silas Towne Chapter, DAR, of Mexico.
  She was the widow of C. Foster Switts.

  HASTINGS — Howard B. Pangburn, 57, retired farmer and owner-operator of the B. & H. Saddlery Shop, was pronounced dead on arrival at Oswego Hospital early Wednesday. He was stricken at his home on Route 11.
  Born in Hastings, March 3, 1914, he operated a farm until three years ago when illness forced his retirement. He had operated the saddlery shop since. He was a member of the Hastings Presbyterian Church.
  He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Bertha Herrington Pangburn; a son, Clyde Pangburn of Mexico; three grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Rovert Craner of Manlius; a brother, Charles Henderson of East Syracuse; four foster daughters, Mrs. Shirely Tourot and Mrs. June Herrington, both of Mexico, Mrs. Elanor Bargy, of Virginia Beach, Va., and Mrs. Peggy Courbat, of Mallory.

  HASTINGS - Earl I. Revoir, 54, died at his home in Hastings, Saturday night. A life resident of this area, he was employed by the New York State highway department.
  Surviving are his wife, the former Ida Wescott; a daughter, Mrs. Charles Hoyt of Hastings; two grandchildren; five sisters, Mrs. Carl Timm of Syracuse, Mrs. Vernon Sshipper of New Haven, Mrs. Frank Elmhurst of New Haven, Mrs. William Walts of Cantral Square and Mrs. John Mayne Jr. of Palermo.
