  PENNELLVILLE - Bertha M. Hyvonen, 86, a resident of Perry Road, died Friday at Lee Memorial Hospital, Fulton. Mrs. Hyvonen was a life resident of Pennellville. Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a mail carrier. Her husband, John, died in December. Mrs. Hyvonen was a member of the Pennellville United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Penellville, the state and the national Grange organizations and was a member of the auxiliary of World War I Veterans of Oswego. She is survived by a daughter, Marion Creamer of Pennellville; two sons, Kenneth McMahon of Wildwood, Fla., and Richard McMahon of Liverpool. Burial will be in Pennellville Cemetery.

  PHOENIX—Arthur R. McMahon, 65, died Saturday in Lee Memorial hospital, Fulton, a few minutes after he was stricken ill on the street. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Bertha McMahon of Pennellville where they resided. He also leaves a daughter, Mrs. Thomas Creamer of Mattydale; two sons, Kenneth McMahon of Pompano Beach, Florida and Richard McMahon of Pennellville; a brother Harold and a sister. Miss Leah McMahon, all of Pennellville.
  Mr. McMahon was a member of the Pennellville Grange.
  Funeral services will be held at the Allanson-Glanville funeral home in Phoenix Tuesday afternoon at 2. The Rev. Charles Ouderkirk, pastor of the Pennellville Methodist church, will officiate Burial will be in Pennellville cemetery.

  PENNELLVILLE - John Oliver Hyvonen, 91 a resident of Perry Road, died Monday at an Oswego nursing home. Mr Hyvonen was a native of Red Lodge, Mont, and had resided in Phoenix and Syracuse prior to moving to the town of Schroeppel in 1919 Prior to his retirement in 1958. he was employed as a mail carrier with the Pennellville Post Office His first wife, Nellie E Mattonen died in 1955 Mr Hyvonen was a member of the United Methodist Church of Pennellville. He was also a member of the Rural Carriers Association and the Pennellville Grange He was a member of the state and national Grange and was active with the Boy Scouts of America in Pennellville. Mr. Hyvonen served with Company 4J, 3rd Infantry Division, during World War I. He was wounded by a German sniper in the Meuse Argonne Forest battle Mr. Hyvonen also served in five other battle. He is survived by his wife Bertha (Rawson) Hyvonen; two sons: Raymond of Kockville Center and Roland of Auburn; a daughter, Nelma V. Mattice of Pennellville; a sister, Hilda Northy of Montana. Spring burial will be in Pennellville.

  FULTON, June 22 - Herbert Andrews, seven-months-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Andrews of 712 Erie Street, died early Thursday ae Lee Memorial hospital after an illness of two weeks.
  Besides the parents surviving are two sisters, Irene and Freda Andrews; four brothers, Edward, William, Clayton and Harold Andrews, all of Fulton, and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Andrews of Cicero. Funeral services will be Saturday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Laura Hart. 907 Phillips street, at 2 o'clock. Rev. Ray C. Ballard, pastor of State Street Methodist Episcopal church, will officiate.  - Newspaper Article (The Fulton Times, NY, Wednesday, March 18, 1903)
  Friday afternoon, Arthur, the 12 year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Sylvester Halstead of the West side, had a narrow escape from instant death. He gained possession of an old army pistol in some way and purchasing some cartridges he and a boy named Fredette, went into the brick yard to practice. In some way the pistol was discharged and the ball struck young Halstead on the cheek bone, glanced off, and buried itself in the fleshy portion of the cheek. Fredette's finger was caught in the trigger as it descended and it was badly cut. Dr, Huffman was called to remove the bullet and unless complications arise tbe boy will speedily recover. Had the ball gone an inch higher it would nave entered the brain through the boy's eye.

 - Newspaper Article (Oswego Palladium-Times, NY, Thursday, September 12, 1935)
  Judgment for $4,000 and interest has been entered to the action of Edward J. Halstead vs. George Dingman for alienation of affections. This case was tried at the May trial term of Supreme court at Pulaski, Justice Clayton L Miner presiding.
  Trial of the action lasted several days, with 24 witnesses being sworn, 16 for plaintiff and 8 for defendant. Halstead, a resident of Fulton, alleged that the defendant alienated the affections of Mrs. Halstead. Defendant denied the allegation.
  When the verdict ,of $4,000 damages was reported by the Jury, defendant moved to set aside the verdict as against the weight of evidence. This motion was denied by Justice Miller. Judgment as entered In the county clerk's office is for $4,100.

  Mr. Halstead was a life resident of Fulton. He retired from Carrier Corp. and previously was employed with the American Woolen Co. His wife, the former Flossie View, died in 1974.
  Surviving are a daughter, Dorothy M. Wallace of Geneva; two grandsons, Edward of Sherrill and William Wallace of Palmdale, Calif.; two nephews and a niece.

  Claude Kinsman a former resident of Farmington but who for several years had resided in Rochester died in the General Hospital of that city on Friday of last week after a six days illness of bronchial pneumonia following grippe. Mr Kinsman was employed in the chemical department of the Eastman Kodak Co.
  Mr. Kinsman is survived by his wife Marcia Mayo Kinsman two sons, Clifford now with the United States troops on the Mexican border, Edmund of Rochester; two daughters Ethel and Bertha Kinsman also of Rochester; his parents Mr and Mrs John Kinsman of Rochester and one brother Arthur G Kinsman of Farmington.
  The remains were brought to Victor and funeral services were held from St Paul's Universalist church at 2 o clock on Monday afternoon, the pastor Rev. George Scudder officiating. Interment was made in Boughton Hill Cemetery.

  Victor, Jan. 25. — It has just developed that Miss Marcia Mayo, George Mayo's 17-year-old daughter who disappeared about three weeks ago on the pretext of visiting relatives, was married to Claude Kinsman of Farmington at Syracuse soon after her departure. Not returning from the supposed visit as expected, her wheaeabouts were unknown to her parents for several days, but a letter received the fore part of last week revealed the situation and it is understood that the young couple will be heartily welcomed when they return.

  Surviving are his wife, the former Zella Darling; two daughters, Mrs, Robert Hamilton and Mrs. Francis Hollenbeck. Both of Parish; one son, Clayton, of Syracuse, and 11 grandchildren.

  ALTON - Rev, Fay A. Wideman, 70, died yesterday December 8, 1961 in his home on Railroad Street, Alton.
  A native of Montague, N.Y., he started as a minister in 1913 and was ordained, as a Methodist minister in 1921. Among the pastorates he served churches in the Pittsiburgh. Pa. Conference, later in Northeast Ohio Conference, and then in the Central New York Confreence.
  In 1950, he went to Alton to serve in the Methodist church there. He retired in 1959.
   He is survived by his widow, Matie Darling Wideman; one daughter, Mrs. Richard Finnie of Alton; one son. Major Royce D. Wideman of Ft. Bragg, N.C.; one foster son, Robert Hicks of Alton; four grandchildren, four sisters, Mrs. Henry Sprague of Webster, Mrs. Ray Burlingame of Spencerport, Mrs. Louis Droutman of New York City, and Mrs. Charles Rich----- of Clyde; two brothers, Darwin of Alton and Allyn of Lyons.
  Friends may call at the Wideman Home today and  Sunday and until 10 a.m. Monday, and after noon at the Alton Mentodist Church where a service will be held at 2 p.m.
  Rev. Milton T. Jefferson of Sodus Point, Rev. Paul Brown of Phoenix, N.Y., and Rev. Floyd Guiles of Geneva will officiate.
  Burial will be in Alton Cemetery.
