  Ray N. Smith, 80, of Pulaski, a retired farmer, died in Oswego Hospital after a long illness.
The funeral was at 1 p.m. Sunday, November 3, 1985 at the Foster-Hax Funeral Home, Pulaski, with the Rev. Virgil Hager, pastor of Sandy Creek Baptist Church, officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Lawn Cemetery, Parish. Calling hours were 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
  Surviving are his wife, Doris Smith; a brother Glenn Smith, Parish, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
  He was born February 18, 1905, in Parish, the son of Ambrose and Amanda Soble Smith. He attended Parish District Schools. He. married Doris Austin Carbino in 1962. Mr. Smith was a dairy farmer in the Town of Parish for many years and was sexton at Pleasant Lawn Cemetery from 1962 to 1972.

  Mrs. Nellie Woolworth Soble, 71, of Main St., wife of Richard Soble, died Thursday afternoon, April 1 in the Oswego Hospital after a long illness. Mrs. Soble was born in West Monroe and was a life resident of the area.
   Surviving besides her husband are five daughters, Mrs. Adelia Barthel and Mrs. Julia Joss of Parish, Mrs. Alice Smith of Fulton, Mrs. Helen Kaler of Rochester and Mrs. Betty Hennop of California; three sons, Edwin and William of Parish and Stanley Soble of Florida; 21 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Julia Meyers of Constantia, Mrs. Flora Anderson of Minnesota, Miss Daisy Woolworth of Utica.
  Services were at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Harter Funeral Home. Burial was in Pleasant Lawn Cemetery.

   Miss Sobie is a member of the 1984 Senior Class of the Altmar-Parish Central School. Mr. Henapp, a veteran of World War II, attended Webster High School, and is engaged in farming

  CAMDEN — Mrs. Joseph Duley, 72, 25 Union St., died yesterday in a Rome hospital, after a long illness.
   A daughter of the late Frank and Phoebe Johnson Phillips, she was born in Parish, May 7, 1879. She was twice married. Her first husband was Ross Drury.
   About 40 years ago she was married to Joseph Duley who survives.
   Surviving also are one daughter, Mrs. Donald Krum. Belmot; a son, Raymond Drury, Camden; eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; a brother, Harold Phillips, Syracuse, and several nieces and nephews.
   Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p. m. at the B. A. Sanborn and Son Funeral Home, Camden, with the Rev. Carlton G. VanOrnum, pastor of the Methodist Church officiating.

  Roscoe J. Drury, 79, of 209 Liberty Gardens, died at a Rome Hospital this morning after a long illness.
   He was born in Camden Nov. 18, 1880, son of Emmons and Minnie Swanson Drury. He had made his home in Rome for the past 25 years and was employed at Griffiss AFB for some time as a painter.
   Surviving are his wife, the former Katherine Hannon, Rome; a son, Ronald Drury, Syracuse; three brothers, Arthur, Syracuse; Charles, Mohawk, and Floyd, Sangerfield, and a sister, Mrs. Charles McCarthy, St. Paul, Minn.

  HIGHLAND MAN IS KILLED WHEN CAR AND TRAIN CRASH
Earl F. Phillips Dies Instantly at Railroad Crossing Saturday
  PULASKI - Earl F. Phillips, 57, Richland, former Altmar resident, was apparently instantly killed in a railroad grade crossing accident about 6 p. m. Saturday when a car he was driving east was in collision with a New York Central railroad freight train. The accident occurred on the Rome accident occurred (sic) just west of the village of Altmar. The train was east bound from Rome to Watertown, and the badly wrecked car was dragged some distance from the crossing.
  Roy Montana, Altmar RFD, came along almost immediately after the accident and notified the State Police, Troop[er] Dpnald Murphy making the investigation with Assistant District Attorney, John B Mowry, Dr. A. C. Parker, Altmar, acting as coroner's physician, released the body to Undertaker Norman H. Brown of Altmar.
  According to Trooper Murphy, Phillips suffered a fractured skull, jaw fractures, internal injuries, fractured right leg and left arm, and numerous lacerations. The body was so thoroughly jammed in the wreckage that bars were required to release it.
  Mr. Phillips was born in the town of Albion on Dec. 26, 1887, and had made his home in Altmar and vicinity until four years ago when he moved to Richland. He was a carpenter by trade. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Ruth Braley Phillips; two daughters, Mrs. George Heise, Pulaski, and Mrs. Margaret Krum, Edwards; a sister, Mrs. Belle Duley, and a brother Harold Phillips, Syracuse; and five grandchildren. His only son Francis Phillips, had been killed in the North African campaign.
  Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday at the Brown funeral home, Altmar, by the Rev. Victor G. Fellows of Altmar Methodist church. Burial will be in Riverside cemetery, Altmar.

  HAROLD G. PHILLIPS of 166 Grace St., died yesterday in the Veterans’ Administration Hospital after a short illness. A native of Altmar, he had lived in Syracuse 43 years.
  Mr. Phillips was a member of Delaware Baptist Church, Post 43, American Legion, the Syracuse Turners Club and the Loyal Order of the Moose.
  Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Gertrude Brown Phillips; a son, Kenneth Phillips; a step-son, Earl Fleming; five grandchildren; a great-grandchild and a nephew.

  PULASKI — Robert Davies, 72, of 62 Salina St., this village, died Tuesday morning in Oswego hospital after several weeks illness. He was a retired plumber.
  Mr. Davies was born Feb. 9, 1884, in Nekton, Pa., a son of the late Robert and Mary Jones Davies. He spent his early life in New York Mills and was Active in musical circles in the Utica area at that time. He came here 40 years ago and attended the Methodist Church.
  Surviving are two sons, Robert S. Davies, Morgantown, W. Va., and George P. Davies, Fulton; a sister, Mrs. Jane Jones, Utica; three grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. A son, Jack F. Davies, was killed in World War II on Guam.
  The body was removed to the Surridge and Roberts funeral home, 144 Eagle St., Utica, where funeral services will be held at 11 a. m. Friday, the Rev. G. John Richards, pastor of Bethesda Welsh Church of Utica. officiating. Burial will be in Crown Hill Memorial Gardens.

  - CpL Jack Davies Killed In Action
  Cpl. Jack Francis Davies, 21, son of Robert Davies, Salina street, has been killed in action according to a telegram received late Monday from the U. S: Marine Corps, headquarters in Washington, D. C. No further information had been received up to late yesterday. The date, the place or the conditions were not indicated in the message. The last letter received by his father was dated June 1, 1944 and although he was unable to tell where he was at that time pictures and news from the Pacific theatre have mentioned his company and Mr. Davies believed his son must have been in the Marianas Islands.
  Cpl. Davies was born in Mexico, January 22, 1923, but lived most of his life in Pulaski attending Pulaski Academy. He enlisted in the Marine Corps from Utica on July 1, 1942, received his basic training, at Parris Island and had spent about nine months in the Pacific.
  He is survived by his father and two brothers, George and Robert Davies, both of Fulton.

  WILLIAMSTOWN - Edward B. Phillips, 86. Amboy Road, a retired farmer and employe of the Oswego County Reforestation Department, died Monday at home after a long illness.
   He was born in Altmar, June 26, 1889, son of Henry and Lillian Johnson Phillips, He attended Williamstown area schools.
   He and Pearl Gifford were married in Amboy Center, July 24, 1924. He worked for the Reforestation Department for 20 years, retiring in 1970.
   Mr. Phillips was a member of Williamstown Union Church.
   Besidses his wife, he leaves a son, Elton Phillips, Williamstown; two brothers, Elmer Phillips, Parish, and George Phillips, Lackawana; two grandsons and one great-grandson.
   Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the E. H. McDaniels Funeral Home, Camden Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Calling hours are today 2 to 4 and 7 to 9.

Mrs. Phillips was a member of the Williamstown Union Church and a former member of the Williamstown Grange. Surviving are a son, Elton of Williamstown; two sisters, Helen Healey of Clinton and Marjorie Johnson of Camden; two grandsons; and two great-grandchildren. Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Harter Funeral Home, Parish. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Williamstown.    A Parish native, he lived here most of his life. He was the son of Henry and Lillian Johnson Phillips. He was a retired barber.
   Surviving are his wife, the former Harriet Gifford; two daughters, Mrs. Esther Barber of Williamstown and Mrs. Helen Henderson of Parish; two sons, John of Pulaski and Milton of Parish; a brother, George of Parish; 13 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

   Mrs. Phillips was a member of Parish United Methodist Church and the Parish Senior Citizens.
   Surviving are two sons, Milton of Parish and John of Pulaski; two daughters, Esther Thomas of Cleveland and Helen Henderson of Parish; three sisters, Pearl Phillips of Altmar, Helen Healy of Williamstown and Marjorie Johnson of Camden; 12 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
   Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Harter-Olmstead Funeral Home. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Williamstown.

Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home, 7430 W. Main St.

  The funeral of Arthur F. Phillips, 70, of Main Street, a retired machine operator at Bausch & Lomb Optical Co., Rochester and Remington Arms was 3 today from Fenner Funeral home. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery.
  Mr. Phillips died Thursday night in his home.
  He was born in Williamstown. He married Ethel Van Valkenburg in 1916 in Herkimer. The couple had resided in this area since their marriage.
  Many years ago Mr. Phillips was a trolley conductor on the old line between Herkimer and Little Falls. He was a member of the United Methodist Church.
  Besides his wife he leaves four sons, arthur Jr., Syracuse; Lauriston, East Herkimer; Laurence, Passaic, N.J., and Robert, Millport, N.Y.; three daughters, Mrs. Marjorie Strong, Passiac; Mrs. Michael (Ethel) Mahar, Rochester, and Mrs. Harold (Thelma) Reinhardt, East Herkimer, and four brothers, George, Buffalo; Edward, Williamstown; Clarence, Utica, and Elmer Parish.

  Mrs. Ethel M. Phillips, 75, of Main Street, died Friday in the Herkimer Hospital after a brief illness.
  She was born in Herkimer a daughter of David and Addie May Steenberg Van Valkenburg. She was married to Arthur F. Phillips in 1916 in Herkimer, he died in 1969. She was employed by H.M. Quackenbush Co., for 15 years, retiring in 1964. Mrs. Phillips was a member of the Herkimer Senior Citizens. she was a Methodist.
  She leaves four sons, Arthur of Utica; Laurison, of E. Herkimer; Laurence, Passaic, N.J.; three daughters; Mrs Marjorie Strong, Passic, N.J.; Mrs. Michael (Ethel) Mazur, Rochester and Mrs. Harold (Thelma) Reinhardt, Mohawk.
  The funeral will be at 2 today from the Fenner Funeral Home. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery, this spring.
