Mr. Harold B. Christman, 82, of Gloversville, died Tuesday, May 22, at St. Mary's Hospital, Amsterdam, after a long illness.
He was born on May 24, 1918 in Ephratah, the son of Emory and Eula Brown Christman.
Mr. Christman was a graduate of Johnstown High School. He served in the Army during World War ll; he attained the rank of sergeant with Company A 802nd Tank Destroyer Unit.
Mr. Christman was employed as a glove cutter with several glove companies and later was a self-employed carpenter until his retirement.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Johnstown and Gloversville and served as past commander of the Royal Mountain Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7097.
Survivors include his wife, Carrie L. Stock Christman, whom he married on Oct. 31, 1942; three sons Greyford and Ronald Christman both of Gloversville, and William Christman of Mayfield; two daughters, Eileen Wrightsman and Linda Townsend, both of Gloversville; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandson, and cousins

Carrie L. Christman
Mrs. Carrie L. Christman, 80, of Gloversville, died Friday, April 16, 2004, at Nathan Littauer Hospital, Gloversville, following a long illness.
She was born November 24, 1923, in Gloversville, a daughter of the late Homer and Lula Mae Mosher Stock.
She was a 1941 graduate of Johnstown High School and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Johnstown & Gloversville and The Royal Mountain VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
Carrie was employed in the glove industry working for several local glove companies. She retired from the former Superb Glove Company.
On October 31, 1942, she married Harold B. Christman, and he died May 22, 2001.
Survivors include three sons, Grayford (Gerry) Christman and Ronald (Linda) Christman, both of Gloversville, William (Pat) Christman of Mayfield; two daughters, Eileen Wrightsman and Linda (Tom) Townsend, both of Gloversville; one brother, Earl Stock of Cold Brook, NY; two sisters, Hazel Rajchel of New Hartford and Loraine Oulrey of Bonita Springs, Florida; 13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the A.G. Cole Funeral Home Inc. 215 East Main Street, Johnstown.
Friends and family may call on Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Ferndale Cemetery, Johnstown.

Games and contests were played after which refreshments were served. Prizes were won by Carrie Stock, Verseita Barney, Eleanor Eagsa, Ethel Pelosi, Iona Farrar and Valera Za Cek.

The bride was given in marriage by her father.
The bride waa attired In a white satin gown with sweetheart neckline. Her veil waa caught with a Juliet cap studded with seeded pearls. She carried a bouquet of white bridal roses.
The bridesmsld. Miss Iva Stock, wore a pink marquisette gown and carried a large bouquet of Talisman
roses.
The best man was Earl Noone. The attendants were each presented with personal gifts.
The mother of the bride wore a soldier blue dress with accessories to match and a corsage of red roses. The mother of the groom wore a powder blue dress with matching accessories and a corsage of red roses.
Following the ceremony a reception was held at the home of the bride's parents with about seventy-five
relatives and friends attending.
Later in the day the newlyweds left on a short wedding trip to New York city and on their return will reside in Johnstown.
Mrs, Christman is employed in the Leon F. Swears Co. Annex No. 1. Mr. Christman Is employed at the Superb Glove Co. plant.

Esther Brown, widow of Clarence W. Johnson, who was found dead of natural causes at her home. 30 Guy Park Avenue. Friday, was born in St. Johnsville, a daughter of Samuel R. and Bertha Brown, moving to New York City, and later to Syracuse, then coming to Amsterdam 10 years ago where she resided since.
She was a graduate of Elmira College for Women, with a degree in liberal arts, and taught school for several years.
A son. Clarence R. Johnson, Lancaster, Pa., survives.
A prayer service was conducted at the Johnson-Lindsay funeral house at 1 o'clock this afternoon by the Rev William D. Orr. The body was taken to the Gardner Karl Crematorium in Troy. Interment will take place Tuesday at Ingham Mills. N. Y.

ST. JOHNSVILLE, Dec. 18 - Clarence W. Johnson, aged 29 years, a former resident of this village, died yesterday afternoon in a Syracuse hospital, where he had been since Monday.
About three weeks ago Mr. Johnson suffered an injury when a motor bus on which he was working passed over him, At first it was thought that his injuries were not serious but later internal trouble developed. Six doctors were called in attendance.
He was a graduate of St. Johnsville High School and of Colgate college Hamilton. He was a prominent athelete in both school and college in baseball and football. He was a veteran in the World war, where he served as an ensign.
He is survived by his wifem who was Miss Esther Brown, of this village, one son Robert, seven; two sisters, Mrs. Reid Elwood, of the town of Oppenheim, and Mrs. Watson Argotsinger of Vail Mills, but who is in California at present; one brother, Floyd Johnson of Philadelphia, Pa.

John (Jack) M. Gilbert, 95, passed into the arms of the Lord, Wednesday, March 19, 2003.
He was born in Utica, NY, December 26, 1907, to Edward H. and Emma Goodnough Gilbert, formerly of Canton, NY. Mr. Gilbert attended St. Lawrence University and worked for many years at Niagara Mohawk Power Corp. He served in the U.S. Navy as an electrician aboard the USS Waldron in the Pacific Theater and was present in Tokyo Bay at the signing of the Japanese surrender.
On November 9, 1929, he married Mary Anna Dougherty. She died October 31, 1977.
John was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing and hunting and most especially the woods. He captured many moments on film of wildlife and nature's abundant beauty wherever he found it.
He was of the Episcopal faith.
Mr. Gilbert is survived by his sister, Sister Mary Basil, CSM, of St. Mary's Convent, Peekskill, NY; a daughter, Mrs. John (Ann) Bathrick, Palm Coast, FL; and two sons, John M. Gilbert, Jr., and Audrey, Bushnell, FL, and Boonville, NY, and Robert R. Gilbert and Karen, Barneveld, NY. He leaves 11 grandchildren, William Vosburgh, Barneveld, Mark Vosburgh, Utica, Colleen Freeman, Vista, CA, Debra Blank, Katy, TX, Karen Underwood, Peoria, AZ, Tammy Rogers, Woodgate, Kim Baker, Boonville, Julie Pallas, Lee Center, Jeremy Gilbert, Barneveld, Vicki Gilbert, Whitesboro, and Melissa Keller, Windgap, PA, and several great grandchildren. Also surviving are an adopted son, Jeff Gilbert, Whitesboro, and foster children, Darlene and Nancy. He was predeceased by twin daughters, Joan and Jean; a son, Ross, adopted daughters, Maureen and Bonnie; and his brother, Edward H. Gilbert, Jr. Jack also leaves a special friend and hunting companion, David Anderson, Schenectady, who provided many hours of hunting movies for him when he no longer could join Dave for the annual deer hunt and trek into camp.
Mr. Gilbert's family would like to extend their thanks to his caregivers at the Heritage Home and at Faxton Hospital for their compassion and concern. He will be cremated and a Memorial Service will be held Saturday, 2:00 p.m., at the J.W. Dimbleby Funeral Home, Forty Main St., Whitesboro. Relatives and friends are invited to call from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial contributions to the American Lung Association. Barneveld – Mrs. Mary A. Gilbert, 64, of the Downer Hill Rd., passed away Sunday October 30, 1977 in Faxton Hospital after a short illness.
She was born November 9, 1912 in Frankfort, the daughter of Lemuel and Anna Wingale Dougherty. On November 9, 1929 she and John M. Gilbert were united in marriage in Barneveld and had made their home there since. Mrs. Gilbert was a member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Barneveld.
Surviving besides her husband is three daughter, Mrs. William (Ann) Vosburg of Whitesboro, Mrs. William (Maureen Ann) Boyer, Cal.; and Mrs. Bonnie Jean Gilbert of Utica; three sons, John Jr., of Dean Road, Boonville, Robert of Route 12, Boonville and Jeffrey at home. Twin daughters died in infancy. Two foster children, Mrs. Waller (Darlene) Gilbert of Prospect and Miss Nancy MacMillian of Oregon; four sisters, Mrs. Blanche Lealand of Utica, Mrs. Jennie Howlett of Whitesboro, Mrs. Ida Fitch of Cooperstown and Mrs., Reginald (Helen) Soule of Whitesboro; one brothers, Fred Dougherty of Remsen.
Cremation will take place in Waterville. The family will receive callers from 2 p.m. Tuesday until memorial service at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Roy Sommers officiating at the George W. Koerner Funeral Home, Holland Patent.

Mrs. Sarah (Sally) Auert Gregory, 75, of 1514 [?] Genesee St., widow of the Rev. John D. Gregory, passed away Sunday, December 4, 1963 at her home.
She was born in Deerfield, a daughter of Justin A. and Margaret Weaver Auert. She graduated from the Utica County Day School and attended the Lesley [?] School, Cambridge, Massachusetts. She married John D. Gregory, a former pastor of Olivet Presbyterian Church in 1933 in Utica. He died in 1976.
The Gregory's served Olivet Church until 1938 when he accepted the Pastorate of the Presbyterian Church of Rye, N.Y. They later moved to serve the Presbyterian Church of Selma, Ohio.
Mrs. Gregory was a deacon and an elder of Olivet Presbyterian Church, President Elect of its Pastor's Aid Society and held membership in Omieron Circel, King's Daughters Society and the Aleris Club. She was also a member of the Oneida Historical Society.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Raymond M. (Sarah) Miller of Cleveland; two sisters, Miss Ruth Weaver Auert of Utica and Mrs. Bruce F. (Margaret) Rogers of Santa Rosa, California. She also leaves a nephew, nieces and cousins. She was predeceased by two brothers, Frederick Weaver Auert and Christopher J. Auert.
Friends are cordually invited to attend the funeral services Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Olivet Presbyterain Church, 1308 [?] Howard Ave with the Rev. C. Davis Robinson officiating. Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery.

Miss Dorothy Kineald and Miss Marion Hughes were bridesmaids. The Rev. Milton A. Yacek, pastor of Trinity Moravian Church, was best man. Mr. Gregory is a son of the Rev. and Mrs. Carey E. Gregory, Morgantown, N. C.
The bride was attired in a princess gown of white satin and carried white roses and lilles of the valley. The maid of honor wore a gown of hyacinth crepe and Miss Hughes wore a chartreuse crepe gown. All the attendants carried spring flowere. Miss Katherine Wood, cousin of the bride, played the wedding march on the piano.
After a brief eastern trip the couple will reside at the manse, 1311 Howard Avenue.

Marriage Notes for Margaret Louise Auert and Bruce Falconer Rogers

Miss Margaret Louise Auert, daughter of Mrs. Justin Andrew Auert of Utica, and the late Mr. Auert, was married Saturday afternoon to Bruce Falconer Rogers of Hillcrest Lane, son of Mrs. John F. Rogers of Norwich, Conn., and the late Mr. Rogers. The ceremony took place in the Presbyterian Church, with the bride's brother-in-law, the Rev. Dr. John D. Gregory, officiating. A reception followed at the Manse, where Miss Auert has been making her home with her sister and brother-in-law, Dr. and Mrs. Gregory.
The church was decorated with candlelight, palms, white stock and gladioli. The bride was given in marriage by her brother, Corp. Frederick W. Auert, U. S. A., stationed at Fresno, Calif.
She wore a dress of ivory faille taffeta. Her veil of ivory tulle fell from a band of velvet. The bride's bouquet was of orchids, lilacs and freesia.
Miss Rosemary Lamb, of New York, was maid of honor. Mrs. Gregory and Miss Ruth Weaver Auert of Utica, the bride's sisters, were bridesmaids. They wore identical dresses in wedgewood blue taffeta, tiny wisps of blue veiling in the same blue as head coverings, and carried bouquets of mimosa and jonquils.
Lieut. James A. Danver, U. S. N. R., was best man for Mr. Rogers. The ushers were Lawrence R. Woodard, of Rye, and Henry J. Grady, of Larchmont.
Miss Auert was graduated from the Utica Country Day School and the Katharine Gibbs School of New York. Mr. Rogers is a graduate of Norwich Academy and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. They will live on Hillcrest Lane after a wedding trip to Virginia.

Miss Katherine J. Wood, 311 Herkimer Road, has been presented a substantial reward for recovering the body of a Clayton man drowned last November in the St. Lawrence River.
The body was discovered caught on a rock 100 yards from shore last Wednesday by Miss Wood while swimming. After she had brought it to shore the body was identified as Horace T. Stole, son of Thomas B. Stole, superintendent of Schools Clayton.
The father insisted on rewarding the young Utica woman who is a stenographer for the Commercial Travelers' Mutual Accident Association of America.
Stole lost his life with Norman Lawrence, Canton, after they had embarked in a canoe to visit the Lawrence camp. The canoe was capsized. The body of Lawrence was previously recovered.

The ceremony was performed at her home. The attendants were Miss Clara Wood, Miss Ruth Chapman, bridesmaids, and Miss Sarah Wood, maid of honor, sisters of the bride, and William M. Milnor, Baltimore, Md. best man. A string trio played before and after the ceremony, and a reception followed.
The bride was gowned in an empire en train gown of white satin, with a conventional veil She carried a colonial bouquet of valley lilies encircled by maline. Her bridesmaids wore gowns of starched coral chiffon, empire style and the maid of honor was in an aqua gown of the same style and material. The three carried colonial bouquets.
Mrs. Davis attended Utica Country Day School and Cazenovia Seminary and studied at Utica Conservatory of Music, she has been in the offices of the Commercial Travelers. Mr. Davis is connected with General Motors Finance Corporation, Syracuse. After a motor trip the couple will make their home in that city.

Frederick G. Weaver, 96, a resident of the Presbyterian Home for CNY passed away at the home on January 23, 2015, with his loving family at his side. Fred was born in Utica, NY on November 18, 1918, the son of George and Mildred (Baxter) Weaver. He was raised and educated in the Utica School System, later attended Clarkson College, and graduated from Syracuse University with his BS degree. In Utica in 1964, Fred was married to Lily Hunkins, a blessed union of 50 years. He was a self-employed car dealer in Utica and the surrounding area for many years. After retirement, he enjoyed substitute teaching at many of the local schools. He was a member of Calvary Episcopal Church, Utica and enjoyed going to services, with his wife at the 1st Church of the Nazarene. Fred was a direct descendent of the pioneer settlers of Utica, he loved reading, and interests centered around real estate. He kept very active until encountering health problems. Fred is survived by his wife, Lily of New Hartford; his daughter and her husband; three cherished grandchildren. He also leaves several nieces and nephews and his good friend, Don Credon. Besides his parents, Fred was predeceased by two sisters, Mildred Weissbart and Virginia Shaw; and a brother, George Weaver... Miss Lily Belle Hunkins and Frederick C. (sic) Weaver were married at noon July 18 in the Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Allan Ray performing the double ring ceremony.
Teh new Mrs. Weaver is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Hunkins, 168 s. genesee St. She was given in marriage by her brother-in-law, Courtney L. Lafountaine, He husband is the son of Mrs. George F. Weaver, 208 Herkimer Road, and the late George F. Weaver.
A reception was held at Hart's Hill Inn, after which thre newly weds left on a trip to Maine; Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick. They will make their home in New Hartford.
Mrs. Clarence Bausman served as matron of honor, and Miss Margarite Griffin was the junior bridesmaid.
Henry M. Shaw, Morristown, N. J., brother-in-law of the bridegroom, was best man. Ushering were George F. Weaver, Jr., Utica, the bridegroom's brother, and Frank J. Weissbart. New York City, brother-in-law of the bridegroom.
The bride is employed at Oneida National Bank. Her husband is a graduate of Syracuse University, where he was a member of Delta Kappa Episilon fraternity, He is a car dealer.

Virginia Weaver Shaw died suddenly on Monday, August 29 at Morristown Memorial Hospital.
Born in Utica, New York in 1920 she attended the local schools and then graduated from William Smith College in Geneva, NY.
In 1945 she married Buzz (Henry) Shaw and in 1955 they moved to Morristown.
Mrs. Shaw was active in the Morristown Chapter of the D A R and in the National Society of Mayflower Descendants. She and Buzz joined St. Peter's Church, Morristown in the early 1950's and over the years she has been involved in many aspects of church life.
In particular she was involved in St. Peter's Inreach Committee. For many years she visited and helped shut-ins; and in recent years, in spite of ill health she continued to be responsible for sending and writing cards to parishioners in crisis.
Mrs. Shaw is survived by her two children, Deborah Henriksson of Vasteras, Sweden and Stephen H. Shaw of Sparta, and her grandchildren Nils, Lisa, Liz, Katie, and Steve. She is also survived by her sister, Mildred W. Weissbart of NYC. and her brother, Frederick G. Weaver of Sauquoit, NY.

I., were married Oct. 20 at the naval chapel at Pensecola, Fla. by Capt. W. P. Williams, chaplain of the air field. The couple is residing at Pensacola, where the bridegroom is stationed.
