ST. JOHNSVILLE — Guy E. Snell, 59, first individual in the community to receive the VFW civic service award, died Sunday afternoon in Little Falls Hospital, after a long illness. He had been in ill health about five years, but was taken to the hospital only Sunday morning.
MR. SNELL was born in St Johnsvllle on May 1, 1896, son of Mrs. Cora Chrlstman Snell and the late Burton Snell. He attended local schools, and had spent his entire life in this village.
Until failing health necessitated retirement five years ago, he was employed as a plumber by William H. Lenz and Son.
During World war I he served with the army in France. He was a charter member of Morris J. Edwards post American Legion, and an active participant in post affairs. As chairman of its graves decoration committee for many years he had prepared extensive and complete maps of the burial places of every veteran in the St. Johnsvllle area. It was this unique and painstaking service on which the local VFW post based its award.
HE WAS MARRIED to Miss Olga Mosenteen of Dolgeville on August 16, 1919. She survives, with twin daughters. Mrs. Adam Klock and Mrs. Lipe Klock, both of West St, Johnsvllle; & grandson. David L. Klock. and his mother, Mrs. Cora Snell, this village.
The funeral was held yesterday at 2 o'clock from the family home in West Main street. Rev. Ernest Crounse, pastor of St. John's Reformed Church, officiated with full military rites. Burial was made in St Johnsville cemetery.
- Obituary (Courier-Standard-Enterprise, Fort Plain, NY, January 21, 1987) Mrs. Olga Snell, 88, for much of her life a resident of St. Johnsville, died Jan. 25, in Folts Home, Herkimer, where she had resided since, April 8, 1986.
She was born in Germany, April 3, 1898, a daughter of Carl and Amelia Brosat Mosenteen.
She was employed by Luxuray, Fort Plain, and during World War II, sewed on Army coats at the Bender factory in St. Johnsville. She later was employed by the Little Falls Felt Shoe Company, St Johnsville, until retiring in 1959.
Her marriage to Guy Shell took place, Aug. 16, 1919, in Dolgeville. He died June 26, 1955.
Survivors include twin daughters, Mrs. Adam (Lois) Klock. and Mrs. Lipe (Louise) Klock, both of Mill Road, West St. Johnsville; two grandsons, David C. Klock of Fairport and James A. Kiock of Newfield; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Gus Mosenteen. Dolgeville; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Tuesday from the Lull Funeral Home. St. Johnsville, with Rev. Ray VandeGiessen, pastor of St. John's Reformed church, officiating. Bunal will be in the spring in
St. Johnsville Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St, Johnsville Area volunteer Ambulance Corps.

ST. JOHNSVILLE, Aug. 19 — Mr. and Mrs. Guy E. Snell, West Main Street, celebrated their silver wedding anniversary Wednesday, and were guests of honor in the evening at a dinner party at Dopps Inn, Dolgeville, given by their respective families. A steak and broiler dinner was served to 24 guests.
Miss Olga Mosenteen, daughter of Mrs. Amelia Mosenteen of Dolgeville and the late Carl Mosenteen, and Mr. Snell, son of Mrs. Cora Snell, this village, and the late Burt Snell, were married August 16, 1919, in the Methodist parsonage in Dolgeville by the Rev. Mr. Hart, who then was pastor of that church. They have spent all of their married life in this village.
Mr. and Mrs. Snell have twin daughters, Lois and Louise, at home. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Mang, Dolgeville, were the attendants at the the marriage and were among the guests present Wednesday evening. Mr. Mang, a former mayor of Dolgeville, made the presentation on behalf of the guests of a gift of $25 to Mr. and Mrs. Snell. Mrs. Snell wore a corsage given by her daughters, and was also presented with a bouquet of gladioli.

Miss Lois Snell, daughter of Mr. arid Mrs. Guy Snell, and Adam A. Klock, son of Mrs. Clara Bolner, ort Plain, and the late Lipe Klock, were married at 8 o'clock Saturday evening in the West Main Street home of the bride's parents.
The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Norman E Thomas, pastor of St. John's Reformed Church, beneath an arch of, bridal wreath and other Spring flowers. The bride was given in marriage by her father.
The attendants were the bride's twin sister, Mrs. Louise Klock and the latter's husband, Lipe Klock, who is a brother of the bridegroom. Thus the twin sisters are now the wives of brothers.
Prior to the ceremony, Herbert Kraft sang "Always" and "Because." Mrs. Frank Don played the piano accompaniment, and also rendered the wedding march.
The bride wore a light blue Summer suit, with white accessories, and an orchid corsage. Her twin sister was attired in an identical suit, and white accessories, but chose a corsage of pink carnations. In carrying out the similar attire of both couples, both the bridegroom and his brother wore suits of the same material and color.
The ceremony was followed by a reception in the home, given by the bride's parents. There were about 60 guests in attendance. The newlyweds departed for a trip to Annapolis, Md., and after June 23 will reside at the home of her parents, West Main Street.
Mrs. Klock was graduated from St. Johnsville Central School in the class of 1944, and is employed as a stenographer in the office of the Palatine Dyeing Company, this village.
Mr. Klock attended the Fort Plain High School, and is now employed by the H. P. Snyder Manufacturing Company, in Little Falls. He recently received his honorable discharge from the United States Marine Corps, after serving 34 months, much of the time in the Pacific theater of action.
The bride was guest at a shower given by Mrs. Orson Riley and Mrs. Gus Mosenteen, at the home of the former, in Dolgevllle.
Marriage Notes for Louise Snell twin and Lipe Klock

ST. JOHNSVILLE, Aug. 14.— Beneath an arch in the home of her parents. Miss Louise Snell became the bride Saturday night of PFC Lipe Klock, Jr., of the U. S. Marine Corps. The ceremony was performed at 8 o'clock by the Rev. Franklin J. Schwelger of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. The date was the bride's birthday anniversary.
Mrs. Klock is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Guy Shell. West Main Street, and PFC Klock is a son of Mrs. Clara Boiner of Fort Plain, and the late Lipe Klock. Sr., a former St Johnsville man.
The arch under which the contracting couple stood was decorated with white hydrangea, snow-on-the-mountaln and green ferns. The home also was trimmed with bouquets of mixed flowers. The bride was given in marriage by her father.
Mrs. Klock's wedding dress was of blue wool and street length. She wore a corsage of red roses. Tho bride's attendant was her twin sister. Miss Lois Snell, who was attired in a dress similar to that of her sister, but of coral color. Her corsage was of white carnations.
The bridegroom wore his Marine Corps dress uniform. His attendant was Paul Walnwrlght, of Nelliston.
Relatives and friends who attended the wedding remained for a reception given by Mrs. Klock's parents.
The newlyweds left to spend a few days at the cottage on Canada Lake owned by the bride's grandmother, Mrs. Cora Snell. PFC Klock will return to the Marine barracks at the Brooklyn Navy Yard at the expiration of his leave, and his bride will reside with her parents for the duration.
The bride was graduated from St Johnsville High School in the Class of 1944, and is employed as a stenographer by the Beech-Nut Packing Company in Canajoharie. PFC Klock attended Fort Plain High School prior to his enlistment in the Marine Corps. He served overseas for 23 months, and was in the battles of Bougainville and Guam. He suffered wounds in action, and holds the Purple Heart medal.
Pre-nuptlal events Included showers by Mrs. Robert Diefendorf, at Buel, and one by Mrs. Edith Riley and Mrs. Gus Mosenteen in Dolgeville.
The bride presented her sister with a lapel pin and earring set, and PFC Klock's gift to the best man was a billfold.

Mrs. Rena S. Keil, 74, of 3 Wolf street, Dolgeville, former St. Johnsville resident, died Dec. 28 at the Barnwel Health Facilities, Valalie, where she had been a patient for the past three months.
Born on April 1, 1900, she was the daughter of Walter and Laura Christman Snell. She was married to Ludwig Keil on Dec. 6, 1920 in St. Johnsville where the couple lived until moving to Dolgeville in 1939. Mr. Keil died Feb. 16, 1966.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Audrey Cotton, Nassau and Mrs. Lucille Dingman, Dolgeville; a son, Walter Keil, Dolgeville; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; two aunts, Mrs. Stella Trumbull, St. Johnsville RD 1 and Mrs. Lena Burkdorf, Palatine.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2 p.m. from the Buck Funeral Home, Dolgeville. Interment will be made in Dolgeville Cemetery at a later date.

Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 2 p.m. at the Nelsen Funeral Home in Dolgeville for the late Ludwig Keil, 69, of that village, who died yesterday morning in Little Falls Hospital.
Mr, Keil was born February 3, 1897, in Dolgeville son of Jacob and Marie Gump Keil. His marriage to the former Rena Snell of St. Johnsville took place on December 6, 1920, with the Rev. Curtis Ficken officiating.
He had resided in St Johnsville until moving to Dolgeville in 1939. He was employed at the Little Falls Felt Shoe Company in St. Johnsvillem abd later by the Dolgeville Central School as custodian. He retired in 1965.
Survivign are his wife; one son, Walter, Dolgeville; two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Audrey) Cotton, Rensselaer, and Mrs. Leland (Lucille) Dingman, Dolgeville; one sister, Mrs. Louise Miller, Dolgeville, nine grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the funeral home this afternoon and evening.
Rev. Robert Geddes of St. John's Reformed Church, this village will officiate at the funeral service. Burial will be in Dolgeville Cemetery in the spring.

LASSELLSVILLE - Edward K. Trumbull, 70, St. Johnsville RD 1, died Wednesday from strangulation by hanging, a suicide, according to Dr. Milan Kovar, Fulton County coroner.
The incident occurred on the property of his mother, Mrs. Stella Trumbull on Krings Bush road. State police said that he left his home at ahout 8:15 a.m. to go to his mother's house to build a furnace. He apparently never went inside the house, but instead took a rope from the car's trunk, went to the barn and hung himself. His grandson's wife, Robin DePietro found him at 1 p.m. No note was found, but state police said that he was apparently despondent over a terminal illness.
Born in Lassellsville on June 24, 1905, he was the son of Frank and Stella Christman Trumbull. He was married to the former Emily Johnson, who survives.
A mechanic, he had been employed by Miles Garage, Lassellsville, for about 50 years, retiring five years ago
A lifelong resident, he was a member of the United Methodist Church, Lassellsville and the Rockwood - Garoga - Lassellsville Volunteer Fire Department.
Survivors in addition to his widow are his mother, a patient in the Wells House, Johnstown, a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Jeannette) DePietro, Lassellsville; four grandchildren, a great-grandson, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services were held Saturday at 10 a.m. from the Cole Funeral Home,
