The funeral of Joseph Folts, who died Wednesday noon from injuries received from a fall from a step-ladder Thanksgiving day, was largely attended from his late home on North Washington street yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. J. W. Hancher of the Methodist Church officiated and a choir composed of Mr. and Mrs. James H. Steele, Miss Mabel Wood and C. T. Gloo sang several selections. The bearers were H. M. Quackenbush, Joseph Palmer, J. H. Steele of this village, and Rosell Austin of Frankfort.
Intererment was made at Oak Hill cemetery.

HERKIMER ... Mercy Ann Harter died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Mary Filkes in East German street, from a complication of diseases incident to old age, the deceased being in her 89th year. She was the daughter of Conrad Folts and Susana Cole and her husband was Jeremiah Harter, whom she married in 1843. With the exception of seven years they spent in Auburn, deceased always resided in Herkimer. Besides the daughter with whom she lived, she had one other child, the late Goram Harter of Herkimer, and by whom she is survived by four grandchildren, Goram, Floyd, Mae and Anna Harter, all of Herkimer. Her grandfather Melchert Folts was one of the first Holland settlers to come to America, crossing the Atlantic some time in the seventeenth century. The father of the deceased participated in the stirring events of the early days taking part in the French and Indian Wars, also in the Revolution and again facing the British in the defense of his country in the war of 1812. She was a member of the Free Methodist Church and the pastor, the Rev. Mr. Owen, will officiate at the funeral to be held to-morrow at 2:30 from her late home. Burial in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Kelloggville, May 10. - The funeral services of Mrs. Mary Forbes, wife of James Forbes Sr. were held at their residence in West Niles on Friday, th 7th. Rev. John House of Sempronius conducting the services. Mrs. Forbes has resided in Niles in the neighborhood of Twelve Corners for about twenty years, migrating from Herkimer county here. She was an estimable old lady, and her genial, kindly nature won her many warm and devoted friends. She leaves a husband and six children, four sons and two daughters who sadly mourn her loss. We understand Mrs. Forbes to have been nearly seventy-three years of age at the time of her demise.

The death of Mary Gilligan, widow of Anthony Devine, occurred last evening at 7:30 at her home, corner of Frankfort street and Second avenue, after a lingering illness. While it was known that she could not recover she had been no worse and her death came unexpectedly. The deceased was born in this village and her whole life was spent here. In her young womanhood she married Mathew Folts, whose death occurred 18 years ago, and later she married Anthony Devine who died about 20 years ago. During her illness she had been tenderly cared for by her daughter, Kitty Folts and son Frank Folts, who have resided with her. She has also two other sons by the first marriage, Ezra Folts of Ilion and Thomas Folts of Richmond, Va. She also leaves two brothers, Edward Gilligan of Oswego and John Gilligan who resides in Troy. Mrs. Devine was a member of SS. Peter and Paul's Church and was a lady of excellent Christian character, a kind friend and neighbor and a devoted mother. She was a member of the Altar Society and active in its work as long as her health would permit. The funeral will be held Saturday at 9 o'clock from the home and at 9:30 at SS. Peter and Paul's Church.

Frsmkfort—Frank W. Folts, 78, died Mar. 24, 1941, in the home of his sister. Mrs. Michael J. Flahaven, 301 S. Frankfort St., after an illness of three years.
He was born in Frankfort, a son of Matthew and Mary Gilligan Folts. Except for a few years in Utica and llion, he had always lived here.
Mr. Folts married Miss Margaret McCann in Illon in 1904, she died in 1910.
Mr. Folts was a machinist and tool maker in the West Shore Railroad shop for many years. He
was later employed by the Remington Typewriter Company, remaining with that firm until he was appointed street commissioner in 1921. He held the position for three years.
Mr. Folts was a member of SS. Peter and Paul's Church and its Holy Name Society.
Surviving besides his sister are a brother, Thomas, Richmond, Va., and several nieces and nephews.
