  William Alexander Cross, 85 year old retired carpenter of Rt 1, Crossville, died Sunday at Wharton Nursing Home in Pleasant Hill.
   Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon at Clarkrange Methodist Church by Royal Wheaton with burial in Clarkrange cemetery.
  Mr Cross, a native of Fentress county, is survived by his wife, Winnie Jane Kring Cross; 4 sons, Charles and Cosby, Cumberland cty; Lonnie, Fentress cty; Bennie, Greenwood, Ind; 3 daughters, Mrs Reba Wakefield, Cumberland cty; Mrs Kathy Furse, Decatur, Ga; Mrs Elsie Wheaton, Fentress cty.

  SAM JOEL BEATY
  A memorial service for Sam Joel Beaty, 74, of Potato Farm Road, Crossville, who passed away April 11, 1998, was held April 15 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home. He was born Feb. 2, 1924 in Overton County, the son of Herman and Pearl Vaughn Beaty.
  Mr. Beaty was a welder for General Processing Company, and he was of theProtestant faith. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Army. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart and was a prisoner of war.
   Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Sevier Beaty of Crossville; stepchildren, Kay Barnett, Joann Ramsey, and Mike Staggs, all of Crossville, Eddie Staggs of Pikeville, and Fred Staggs of Big Lick; 15 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brothers, Pat Beatty, Frank Beaty, and Dock Beaty, all of Crossville; and sisters, Erma Smith of Canoga Park, CA, Willie May Kline of North Hollywood, CA, Helen Clark of Nacogdoches, TX, and Judy Humble of Crossville. He was preceded in death by his brother, John Beatty, and grandson, Jackie Staggs.
  Bro. Robert Baker officiated.
  The family requests that memorials be made to Hospice of Cumberland County.
  Bilbrey Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

  Archie Glen Kring, age 84, a resident of the Coal Hill community in Morgan County, went home to be with his heavenly father Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2007, while surrounded by his family and loved ones following a long and courageous battle with colon cancer. Mr. Kring was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Harriman. He was a U.S. Army veteran who served his country during World War II. He worked for the Stower Lumber Company for 21 years, and TDOT for nine and one-half years. Mr. Kring was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Humphrey Kring; by a son, Wayne Henry Kring; his parents, Henry Albert and Mary Alice Branger Kring; brothers, Billy, Sheridan, Lester, Jessie and Elmus Kring; and sisters, Winnie Cross and Gertrude Shillings. Survivors include his sons, Vaughn Humphrey and wife, Pat, of Coal Hill, Tom Kring of Coal Hill, and Hugh Kring of Kosovo, Siberia; daughters, Jane Harmon and husband, David, of Coal Hill, and Janice Coker and husband, Tim, of Coal Hill; daughter-in-law, Brenda Kring of Coal Hill; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Myrtle Henderson of Clear Creek, Mable Brown of Athens, Ruby Trentham of Coal Hill, and Ethel Henry and husband, Arthur, of Knoxville. The family will receive friends Saturday, Feb. 24, 2007, between the hours of 6 and 8 p.m. at Sharp Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 25, 2007, at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church with Pastor Will Gouge, Bro. Jeff Parrott and Bro. James Jones officiating. Burial and graveside services will follow at Coal Hill Cemetery. Sharp Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

He is survived by brothers Dencell Ray Kring and wife Teresa of Harriman, Willis Kring and wife Helen of Harriman and David Kring of Coalhill Community; sisters Lucy Guy of Coalfield Community, Sandra Brown and husband Ronnie of Winston Salem, N.C. and Linda Brown and husband Jerry of Coalhill Community; and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral was Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Coal Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Ronnie Hill officiating. Interment was in Coal Hill Cemetery.   Henry, Ethel Kring, age 86, of Coalfield was suddenly called home to be with the Lord Sunday afternoon September 30, 2012. She was born on December 17, 1925 to Henry Albert and Alice Ann Barringer Kring. She was one of twelve children and one of two sets of twins. She was married to Arthur Glenn Henry for 57 years before he passed. She was a member of Oakwood Baptist Church and retired from Standard Knitting Mills after 25 years of service.
  She leaves to cherish her memory her sister, Myrtle Kring Henderson; her only child a son Phillip E. Henry, Sr. and wife Georgina Henry; three grandchildren, Phillip E. Henry, Jr. and wife Amber, April Miles and husband Robert Ibew 760, Tina Marlar; eight great grandchildren, Austin and Brad Walker, Coy Henry, Bradley, Tyler, Sierra Miles, Claudia and Chandler Marlar. She will be sadly missed.
  The family will receive friends from 6 – 8pm Wednesday at Lynnhurst-Greenwood Chapel. There will be a chapel service at 2 pm Thursday at Lynnhurst-Greenwood Chapel.
