RALPH S. LUNGER, 65, of 223 S. Catherine Street, Montour Falls, died at Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Saturday, March 16, 1968. Friends may call at the Vedder and Scott
Funeral Home Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the First Methodist Church of Montour Falls, the Rev. James Olcott officiating. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. He is I survived by wife, Alma Yost Lunger; daughter, Mrs. Janet Osgood, Jacksonville, Fla.; sons, Gordon A. Lunger, Toronto, Canada, Winston R. Lunger, Nichols, N.Y.; brothers, Harry D. Lunger, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and John P. Lunger, Williamsburg, Va; and ten grandchildren. Mr. Lunger was a director and general superintendent of the Shepard Niles Crane and Hoist Corp., a member of the M&M Club and the American Society of Tool Engineers. Contributions may be made to the Heart Fund.

Miss Marjorie Smith Volker and Ensign Phillip Lunger, USN, were married at high noon today at the First Presbyterian Church by the Rev. W. Hamilton Benham before a large gathering of guests.
From the large, south window the bridal party proceeded down the center aisle to the processional "Bridal Chorus" from Wagner's "Lohengrin." It was led by Miss Sybil A. Volker, sister of the bride and maid.of honor, gowned in yellow organdy with a harmonizing picture hat and a bouquet of yellow talisman roses. Miss Volker was followed by the bride on the arm of George H. Little who gave her in marriage. She wore the wedding gown of her mother, Mrs. G. H. Little, of washable chiffon with silk illusion veil and carried a bouquet of white roses.
At the altar, banked with peonies and seringas, they were met by the bridegroom and his best man, Ralph S. Lunger, brother, from Montour Falls. The ushers were Mason Weed and Barnett Corbin of Montour Falls.
The program of music played by Charles Hallock, organist, included "Spring Song" by Grieg, "Serenade" by Mosscoski, "Gavotte" by Wely and "Wedding Music" by Jensen. The recessional was Mendelssohn's "Wedding March."
The out-of-town guests were Miss Amy Clark of Sodus, Miss Marjorie Hieber of Utica, Miss Carol West of Summit, N. J., Miss Mary Crone of Olean, James Ayer of Angola and
Mrs. Louise Duringer of Binghamton. They were entertained at the bride's home for a breakfast-luncheon prior to the ceremony.
After the marriage a reception was held at the home of the bride until 3 p. m., when the couple left on a motor trip. After June 30 they will live temporarily in Norfolk.

CANAJOHARIE. March 8 — Miss Mary Katharine Hambrecht, daughter of Mrs. George Hambrecht and the late George Hambrecht, and James Gordon Dillon, Canajoharie, son of Mrs. Robert Lamphere, Syracuse, were united in marriage at 10 o'clock Saturday morning at SS. Peter and Paul's Church. The Rev. James R. Gazeley performed the ceremony, which was followed by a nuptial mass. The church was decorated with white snapdragons. Before the ceremony, Mrs. Henry Hambrecht, Syracuse, aunt of the bride, gave an organ recital.
The bride, given in marriage by her uncle, Henry Hambrecht, Syracuse, wore a white satin and net gown, basque style and bouffant skirt. From her braided satin Juliet cap fell a finger-tip length veil. She carried a large shower bouquet of starlight roses and white sweet peas.
Mrs. Chester Waterman, Canajoharie, matron of honor, wore an aqua crepe gown trimmed with gold sequins, and a gold Juliet cap. Her bouquet of Talisman roses was tied with gold satin ribbon. Miss Katherine Hambrecht, sister of the bride, wore a floor-length gown of yellow flowered taffeta. She carried a Colonial bouquet of sweet peas and rosebuds and wore similar flowers in her hair.
John Brookheiser, Fonda, was best man and ushers were Chester Waterman, Canajoharie, and Jason Waufle, Fort Plain.
The bride's mother wore a black and white sheer gown and corsage of white sweet peas. Mrs. Lamphere, mother of the bridegroom was dressed in a black gown and had a corsage of white sweet peas and roses.
Following a reception at the home, 20 Rock Street, a wedding breakfast for relatives and friends was served at noon at Canajoharie Hotel. For her brief wedding trip, the bride wore a black suit with Kelly green accessories and a corsage of gardenias.
Mrs. Dillon was graduated from Canajoharie High School, Class of 1935, being valedictorian of the class, and attended Syracuse University. She is employed in the Canajoharie National Bank. Mr. Dillon, a graduate of Valley High School, Syracuse, has been employed by the Beech-Nut Packing Company. He leaves Wednesday with a group of selectees from Board 384, Amsterdam, for Army service.
Personal gifts were presented to the bridal attendants by the couple.
Mrs. Chester Waterman entertained for the bride last week.

James Patrick Dillon, 16, was present an Eagle award at a Court of Honor held by Canajoharie Boy Scout Troop 81 Tuesday night at Wihtergreen Park, Canajoharie.
The award was presented to his mother, Mrs. Mary H. Dillon, who in turn, pinned it on her son. It was presented by Scoutmaster Joseph Claven.
William Keller, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Keller, Canajoharie, was presented a Star badge. He is a Canajoharie Central School student.
a silver Eagle pin was pinned on Mrs. Dillon by her son. Scoutmaster Claven spoke concerning Dillon, stating that he had worked with him throughoiut his Scouting career. A talk was given by John Tooker, advance chairman of the Sir William Johnson Council.
Dillon, completed his junior year at Canajoharie Central School this June. He was secretary of the Junior class. He is a member of the National Honor Society, the Targeteers Rifle Club and the Debating Society.
He is a member of the Canajoharie High School band and orchestra and was selected to play in the All-Eastern High School band this year at Atlantic City.
The new Eagle Scout serves as senior Altar boy at Sts. Peter and Pauls Church, Canajoharie. He is a recipient of the Parvuli Dei award and the Ad Altare Dei award.
He is a member of Boy Scout Troop 81, former patrol leader, junior assistant Scoutmaster. He is chief of the Mohawk Chapter, Order of the Arrow (Scouting camping honor society) and is treasurer of the Thayendanegea Lodge, Order of the Arrow.
Dillon is assistant to the waterfront director at the Woodworth Lake Scout Reservation this summer.

Miss Fritzann Putman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard C. Putman of Caroga Lake, was united in marriage to James P. Dillon of Canajoharie, son of James G. Dillon of St. Johnsville and the late Mrs. Dillon, at noon Saturday at St. Peter and Paul Church in Canajoharie. Rev. Kenneth Dahlen of Cincinnati, Ohio, cousin of the bridegroom, performed the double ring ceremony.
The altar of the church was decorated with vases of pom-pons and gladioli and the organist, Mrs. Eileen Waterman of Canajoharie, played the wedding music.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a full length gown of white silk over taffeta designed with a high rise neckline, fitted bodice, long sleeves and an A-line skirt trimmed with lace embroidery and satin ribbon. Her bouffant veil of silk illusion was attached to an open pillbox hat and she carried a bouquet of white roses.
Miss Jane Schindler of Hudson, N.H., cousin of the bride, was maid of honor and wore lime organza over saki full length gown designed in the new cage look with a mini-yoke, a high rise neckline and short sleeves. She wore a bouffant veil attached to a crown of daisies and carried a bouquet of lime colored daisies.
Miss Barbara Ellis of Johnstown, Miss Linda Caputo of Gloversville and Mrs. Mary C. Edmie of Highland were bridal attendants and were attired in gowns designed the same as the gown of the maid of honor only in silk organza over taffeta and in a salmon rose color.
John Canfield of Canajoharie was best man and Vincent Nicolais of Tarrytown, William Monti of Connecticut and Frank Chuck of Canajoharie were ushers.
A reception for 200 was conducted at the Rainbow Restaurant in Johnstown from 1:30 to 4:30 In the afternoon and guests attending from Texas, Maryland, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Connecticut and Ohio.
For her wedding trip to the Virgin Islands, the bride wore a dress and matching coat of pink linen with pink accessories and a white rose corsage.
The bride is a 1965 graduate of Johnstown High School, a graduate of Fulton-Montgomery Community College and is employed at the college as a secretary.
Dillon is a 1964 graduate of Canajoharie High School, a 1968 graduate of Holy Cross College, Worchester, Mass. and is employed with Univac Corporation in Utica.

Stanton Berry Garner, 86, a retired UT-Arlington professor, died Sunday, Nov. 20, 2011, at his home in San Marcos following a lengthy illness. Burial: Interment will be held Thursday, Feb. 9, in Arlington National Cemetery.
Stanton was born Sept. 1, 1925, in Corning, N.Y., to the late Helen and Edward Garner, and attended Corning Free Academy through high school. In 1943 he graduated from the Manlius School in DeWitt, N.Y., and in the fall of that year entered the Army Air Corps Aviation Cadet program. Stanton later matriculated to the U.S. Naval Academy after having received a commission to attend both West Point and Annapolis. He graduated in the class of 1948 and began a career in the United States Navy. He served in the Korean War aboard the destroyers USS Hanson and USS Melvin. After the war, Stanton attended submarine school and served on the submarines USS Hardhead and USS Lionfish. He retired from the Naval Reserves as a full commander in 1973. Stanton earned his doctorate in English from Brown University in 1963 and joined the faculty there. He spent the 1968-69 school year teaching in Brazil on the first of two Fulbright Fellowships there and, upon his return, accepted a job as department head at the University of Texas at Arlington. Stanton returned to teach again in Brazil in 1975-76 and taught at the Naval Academy as a visiting professor in 1979-80. After retiring from UT-Arlington, he taught in Portugal on another Fulbright Fellowship in 1988 and finished his career as a visiting professor at Southwest Texas State University (now Texas State University). A prolific scholar, he co-edited the Harold Frederic Edition and published numerous articles and books on Frederic, Herman Melville, and other 19th-century American authors. His books include "The Captain's Best Mate" (1969), "Harold Frederic" (1969) and "The Two Intertwined Narratives in Herman Melville's Billy Budd: A Study of an Author's Literary Method" (2010). His 1993 book, "The Civil War World of Herman Melville," was a major study of Melville's later poetry and of the writer's complex attitudes toward the American Civil War. Stanton survived the passing of his beloved wife, Lydia M. Garner, who died May 6, 2010.
Survivors: Sons, Stanton B. Garner Jr. of Knoxville, Tenn., George Garner of Katy and Edward Charles Garner of Austin; five grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

Evergreens, poinsettias and candles tied with red ribbon bows decorated the church. Mrs. Chester Waterman played the wedding music.
C. E. Conboy, godfather of the bride, escorted her to the altar. Mrs. James Dillon was matron of honor for her sister.
A reception followed the ceremony at the home of the bride. Out-of-town guests were from Clinton, Utica, Corning, Lakehurst, Amsterdam and Fort Plain.
The bride is a graduate of Canajoharie Central School in the class of 1948, and before her marriage was a sophomore in the College of Home Economics, Syracuse University.
The groom attended the public schools of Corning and graduated from the Manlius School in 1943, and that fall joined the U. S. Air Force. In 1944 he entered the U. S. Naval Academy, Annapolis, Md., graduated and was commissioned in 1948. He is now serving aboard the radar picket destroyer, USS Hanson of the Atlantic Fleet based at Newport, R. I. He is the grandson of the late Brigadier Geneal and Mrs. Lucien G. Berry of Corning.

Broughton, Newport News, with the Rev. Albert Sims, Baptist minister, officiating at the double ring ceremony.
Mrs. Ruth Staples was matron of honor aand Thomas E. Staples served as best man for the groom.
The bride, given in marriage by her brother, Jake Wagner, wore a navy blue garberdlne suit with matching accessories and an orchid corsage. Her attendant wore a rose gabardine dress with black accessories and a corsage of red rose buds.
A reception was held at the home of the bride immediately following the ceremony, after which the couple left for a wedding trip to New York City.
The bride was graduated from Mt. Ulla High School, North Carolina in 1940, and from Riverside School of Nursing. She has been employed as a nurse in Riverside Hospital prior to her marriage. Her husband was graduated from Ilion High School in 1941 and attended Rider College in New Jersey before entering the service. He has now recived his discharge and expects to return to college in the fall.
The couple will reside with the grooms parents for the present.
