George G. Madison, Sr., was born June 6, 1921 to Roy and Marguerite Getman Madison in Charlotte.
Raised in Ontario, George attended Webster High School. In 1942, he enlisted in the United States Army and served in Europe in the medical corps.
It was later recounted to the family that George was responsible for saving an entire platoon of soldiers by hiding them in a medical supply truck while leaving a dangerous area.
Following the service, George returned to the family farm where he worked and delivered produce to the public market.
He later became employed as a foreman for Schaeffer & Ross in Webster, retiring in 1983 as the plant manager.
George was married to Italina "Dolly" Rose Cerasani, June 8, 1946 at Mount Carmel Church in Rochester. They lived for many years on Lake Road in Webster before moving to George's family farm on Webster Road.
George was a member of Hoily Trinity Church of Webster and often donated eggs and produce from his farm to the "HOPE" children of the church.
As a member of the Ontario Rod & Gun Club and a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association, George enjoyed deer hunting and. especially, pheasant and quail hunting with his well-trained beagles.
The great outdoors held much pleasure for George as he enjoyed vegetable gardening and serving as an amateur woodman working to clear trees for friends and neighbors. Regular car rides were a special time for George and his family. He was known for his punctuality. He was interested in western movies and their way of life, such as John Wayne and Gene Autry. The fourth of July served as an annual gathering during which George loved to play baseball and horseshoes with his family. George was very generous, and giving of himself and his time to others.
Mr. Madison died Sunday, Jan. 25, 2004. at age 82, at home in Webster. Predeceased by his daughter, Judy Eckert; brother, Oscar; and sister, Dorothy Kam.
George leaves his.wife, Italina "Dolly;" children, Carol (Robert) Wegmari, George Jr. (Linda), Gloria (Dieter) Trick, Kenneth (Marilyn) James, Floyd, Joyce (David) Snell; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Donald (Johnie), Roy (Catherine) and Joseph (Betty) Madison; two sisters, Margaret Pender and Elizabeth Cerasani; nieces and nephews.
Following visitation Tuesday, the Rev. Fr; William Michatek officiated at the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Trinity Church, Webster, on Wednesday, Jan. 28.
Intermentwas at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Rochester.

A double ring ceremony at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Rochester on Sunday, June 13, united the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Wilson of 278 Renpout Drive and the son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy H. Madison of 681 Webster Road.
Betty June Wilson and Joseph A. Madison repeated their marriage vows before the Rev. Wilfred Schmidt at the 3 p.m. ceremony.
"Because," "With These Hands," and "The Lord's Prayer" were played by David Harris on the
organ; soloist-was Giles Hobin.
The bride was exquisite in a gown of bridal blush pink satin, embroidered with seed pearls and sequins, as she walked down the aisle on the arm of her father. A crown headdress of sequins and pearls with a fingertip veil of illusion and a bouquet of pale pink roses and stephanotis completed her ensemble.
The bride's six attendants wore identical light blue net gowns over taffeta with headdresses of light blue daisies. Maid of honor for her sister, was Miss Shirley Wilson. Bridesmaids included Miss Dorothy Madison, sister of the bridegroom; Miss Mary Dibble of Rochester, and a cousin of the bride, Miss Jean Dibble, another cousin of the bride; Miss Marie Marshall, of Rochester, and Miss Marilyn Faust, also of Rochester.
Another sister of the bride, Miss Susan Wilson, acted as flower girl. She was attired in a "white net gown over taffeta with a white sweetheart poke bonnet.
Thomas Pender of. Rochester was best man for his brother-in-law.
Ushers were Fredrick Leeper of East Rochester, a cousin of the bride; Kenneth Hockenberger, of Webster; and Clarence J. Byers of Webster, a cousin of the bridegroom.
A pink lace gown with matching accessories and white roses was worn by the bride's mother. The bridegroom's mother chose white roses and accessories to complete her blue lace dress.
The couple left on a trip to the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania, following a wedding reception at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall.
Upon their return, they will reside, at 15 Tracey Street.
The bride, a graduate of the Rochester Srhool of Practical Nursing, is a licensed Practical Nurse at Genesee Hospital.
A graduate of Webster Central School, the bridegroom is an inspector at the American Can Company of Fairport.

Florence Ehle - August 15, 1999
Florence M. Ehle, 79, of 7 Timmerman Ave., St. Johnsville, died Sunday at the St. Johnsville Nursing Home after a long illness. She was born in Fort Plain May 4, 1920, the daughter of Charles and Grace Heinz Fox. She graduated from Fort Plain High School, and was a lifelong area resident. he 20 years she was a machine operator at LaSalle Labs in Canajoharie, retiring in 1987. Mrs. Ehle was of the Lutheran faith. Her husband, Victor C. Ehle, died in 1966. Survivors include a son, Larry C. Ehle of Fort Plain; a brother, James Fox of Fort Plain; and one granddaughter. The funeral is 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Gray-Hotaling & Smith Funeral Home, 34 Center St., Fort Plain, where a calling hour will begin at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Fort Plain Cemetery.

The sad death of Mrs. Harry D. Lunger occurred last Friday morning at ten o'clock at the Shepard Hospital in Montour Falls, following a brief illness which terminated into pneumonia.
Ann Louise Coughlin was born the 6th of September 1898 in this village and in the home on Franklin street where she resided. She was the daughter of John and Ellen Coughlin, one of a family of three children.
Her earlier school days were passed in Watkins High School and later she attended St. Mary's at Newburg on the Hudson from which she was graduated in 1917. Four years later on June 20, 1921 she was united in marriage in this village to Harry D. Lunger of Montour Falls and they had since resided with her mother in this village.
The deceased was a young woman of sterling character and devoted to her church. She had a quiet affectionate and unassuming disposition which won for her a host of friends who greatly sympathize with her bereaved family and mourn her early departure.
Surviving are her husband, an infant son, Philip Coughlin, only two weeks old, her mother, Mrs. Ellen Coughlin, one sister, Mrs. Frank Macreery of S. Decatur street and one brother, Edward of Hainnibal, Missouri.
The great number of floral tributes emblems of love and esteem of sorrowing relatives and friends, were so numerous that not all could accompany the body to its final resting place.
The funeral was held from St. Mary's of the Lake at 9 o'clock on Tuesday morning with burial in the family lot in St. Mary's cemetery. Reverad Thomas Carroll officiated.
