Donald W. Shults Sr., 73, Fort Plain, died Nov. 25, at the Albany Veterans Administration Hospital, where he had been a patient for the past four days.
Born in Fort Plain, June 19,1913, he was the son of the late William and Estella (Churchill) Shults. He was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Fort Plain High school. Shults was an Army veteran of World War II and had served with the amphibians in the Pacific Theater. He had been employed at the former Luxuray Mills Inc., of Fort Plain, for most of his life, serving as its superintendent for many years.
He was a member of the Fort Plain Reformed Chuch and a 40-year member of the Mohawk Valley Post No. 3275 of Fort Plain.
On Nov. 10, 1934, in St. Johnsville, he was married to the former Helen Dodson, who survives. He is also survived by a son, Donald W. Shults Jr., of Ballston Spa; three grandsons; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services were conducted Nov. 29, at 11 a.m., from Swartz and Schmiedel Funeral Home Inc., Fort Plain, with Rev. Robert Vanderlaan, pastor of Fort Plain Reformed Church, officiating. Burial, with full military honors, was in Fort Plain Cemetery. Calling hours, at the funeral home, were Nov. 28. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mid-County Volunteer Ambulance Corps.

Popular St Johnsville Girl Married to Donald W. Shults of Fort Plain
ST. JOHNSVILLE— A pretty home wedding was solemnized here Saturday afternoon at 3 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Dodson, Bridge street, when their daughter, Miss Helen Dodson, became the bride of Donald William Shults, son of Mrs. Stella Shults of Fort Plain. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Royal B. Fishbeck, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal church of this place.
The attendants were Miss Amelia Klimacek, Little Falls, a close friend of the bride's, and Gerwood Dodson, the bride's brother. The double ring service was used, with Katherine Hambrecht of Canajoharie acting as ring bearer.
The bride was attractively gowned in brown, and carried yellow roses. Her attendant wore green crepe, and carried pink roses. Following the ceremony, a wedding dinner was served the members of the immediate families, and a few close friends and relatives.
The bride attended the local high school, and is employed in the Luxuray Mills in Fort Plain. Mr. Shults is well known in Fort Plain, and is a graduate of the Fort Plain high school. He, too, is employed in the Luxuray mills in that village.
After the wedding dinner, the newlyweds left for a wedding trip to New York City. On their return they will reside at the home of the bridegroom's mother, on Canal street, in Fort Plain.
Guests were present at the ceremony from Watertown, Fort Plain, Syracuse, Canajoharie, Little Falls, and this village.

FORT PLAIN - Onnilee Kay Shults, one month and three day old daughter of Mr. and Mrs Donald Shults, this village, died Monday night at Little Falls Hospital, after an illness of six days from pneumonia.
The baby was born December 1, 1946.
Besides the parents, survivors are the grandparents, Mr. and Mrs Ernest Dodson, St Johnsville, and grandmother. Mrs. Thomas Hall, Fort Plain.
Funeral services will be held today at the Swartz funeral home, Rev. Chester Chilton, of the Reformed church will officiate. The body will be placed in the Catherine Nellis Memorial vault until spring when burial will be made In the Fort Plain cemetery.

FORMER LOCAL RESENT DIES
Mrs. Elva Mae Gregory, 74, widow of Abijah M. Gregory, and a former Johnstown resident, died yesterday morning at the home of her daughter. Mrs. Harry Galusha, 52 Van Buren Street, Dolgeville. She had been in ill health for several months.
She was born at Ingham Mills on Dec. 6, 1879. daughter of George and Celia Bliss. She was married to John Mutchler Jr on Dec. 29, 1896. He died in 1934
She was married on Aug. 12, 1938 in Johnstown to Mr. Gregory who died Nov. 28. 1942. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Dolgeville, the Royal Neighbors and the Rising Crown Lodge of Rebekahs.
Survivors are three daughters, Mrs. Fred Roberts of Clinton. Mrs. Lawrence Reid of Oneida and Mrs. Galusha; one son, Forbes Mutchler of Ilion; three brothers, William and Edwin Bliss of Syracuse and Elton Bliss of Clinton; nine grand children, 11 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
A Rcbekah service will be held tomorrow night at 7:00 In Mrs. Galusha's home, and friends may call tonight and tomorrow afternoon and evening.
The funeral will be held Wed. afternoon at 2 in the Presbyterian Church in Dolgeville. Officiating will be the Rev Stephen Marosy of that church and the Rev. Harold Thompson of the Presbyterian Church in Little Falls.
Interment will be made in Dolgeville Cemetery.

John Mutchler, Vetran Photographer, Dies After Long Illness
Little Falls - Death of John Mutchler --, native of Little Falls, occured last night at his home, 52 VanBuren Street, Dolgeville, following an illness of three years.
He was born Dec -, 1874, in this city, son of John and Eva Marie Finkbeiner Mutchler. He was married Dec 21, 1816 in the Yellow Church, Town of Manheim, to Elda (sic) Mae Bliss.
Mr Metchler was a member of Dolgeville Exchange Club, Odd Fellows Lodge for 26 years and attended the First Presbyterian Church.
He was a member of the Republican party and had served as deputy sheriff under George Firth. He also represented the Town of Manheim on the Board of Supervisors, was active in Boy Scout activities and had gained prominence in Herkimer County as a hiker. Several times he walked to Utica and back.
Besides his widow he is survived by these children, Mrs Fred ----, New York Mills; Forbes, Amsterdam; Mrs Harry Galusha, Dolgeville and Mrs. Laurence Read of Little Falls; four sisters, Mrs. Wayne Babcox, Richfield Springs,; Mrs Joseph Welch, Syracuse; Mrs Phoebe Vedder, Little Falls and Mrs Richard Williams, B--- Tex.; one brother, Fred, Newark N. Mrs. Elton Bliss
Clinton - Mrs. Mary Bliss, 73 of 33 Dwight Ave., died yesterday in a Utica hospital.
She was born in Albany, daughter of Jay and Ella Nelson and was educated there.
She and her husband, Elton Bliss, resided in Utica 41 years before coming to Clinton 10 years ago.
She was a member of the Clinton Methodist Church.
Besides her husband, she leaves a grandaughter, Miss Charlene O'Brian, of Clinton, a sister, Mrs. Daniel Walsh, of Utica, and a brother, George Nelson, of Phoenix, Ariz., a daughter Mrs. Hugh O'Brian, died in 1958.
The funeral will be at 10 Thursday from the Owens Funeral Home with the Rev. --- Halstead of Clinton Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Schuyler Corners Cemetery.

Services for Ethel V. Darling, 81, of Sunny Lane Trailer Park, Central Square, who died Feb. 6 at St. Joseph's Hospital, were held at Traub Funeral Home, Central Square.
Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery.
A native of Syracuse, Mrs, Darling lived in Central Square 40 years. She was the former owner and operator of the Commercial Hotel in Parish, the Fort Brewerton Hotel, the Pine Grove Motel in Hastings and the Liberty Inn in Mapleview.
Mrs. Darling was a communicant of St. Michael's Church, Central Square.
