Mrs. Katharine (Steele Alverson) Stem, 84. of 701 Hooper Rd.. Endwell, NY. died January 2,1989, at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Binghamton.
She was a daughter of the late Katharine Canty and Claude Hamilton Steele, of Ilion, NY, and was bom January I5, 1904. Mrs. Stern was educated in the llion Schools, the Utica Conservatory of Music and Buffalo State Teacher's College.
She was predeceased by her two husbands, Dr. Donald R. Alverson Sr., and Mr. J. William Stem, and by her two sisters and brother, Mrs. Max (Frances) Albertsman, Mrs. Peter (Ruth) Albertsman and Mr. John R. Steele.
She was a communicant of St. Ambrose R.C. Church and a member, since 1929, of Corporal Josiah Griswold Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Mrs. Stem is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Barbara A. and Harry Brown, Vestal, NY; one son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Marie Alverson, New Hyde Park, NY; seven grandchildren; eight greatgrandchildren; one niece and her husband, Mary A. and Robert McLallin, Trumansburg, NY; and one nephew and his wife, Bernard and Augusta Albertsman, Trumansburg, NY.
Funeral services were held January 4, 1989, at 10.30 a.m. at St Ambrose Church, Endicott, NY. Burial was in St Mary's Cemetery, Little Falls, NY.

The recent wedding which united Donlad R. Alverson of this village and Marie Anna Schroeck, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Schroeck of Briarwood, Long Island, took place in Richmond Hill, L. I. at Our Lady of Cenacle Church.
Given in marriage by her brother, Frank Schroeck, the bride was gowned in bridal-white brocade. An overskirt of white net was gathered to the fitted bodice and white lace mitts added a colonial touch. From a wreath of orange blossoms fell a finger-tip veil and in her hands she carried a mother-of-pearl prayer book and a white orchid.
Attending her sister as maid of honor was Miss Betty Schroeck. Modeled in similar period styling, her boufont gown was of aqua brocade with full overskirt of aqua net. She carried a colonial nosegay of flowers.
In identical period gowns of yellow were the two bridesmaids, Miss Barbara Alverson, sister of the bridegroom and Miss Jean Tynecki. Each carried round nosegays of mixed flowers.
Little Carolyn Mahrt was flower girl, in white organdy over pink.
Best man was John R. Steele, the bridegroom's uncle. Ushers were Alfred Schroeck and Alba Palmer.
Following the church ceremony a reception was held at the Schroeck residence.
Mr. and Mrs. Alverson, who spent a few days in Dansville recently, are now living in an appartment at Alfred, where Mr. Alverson is a pre-medical student at Alfred University. He is a graduate of Ilion High School and a veteran of World War II, having served three years in the U. S. Navy. Mr. Alverson is the son of Dr. Donald R. Alverson of Gulfport, Miss. and Mrs. J. William Stern of Vestal, near Endicott.

Mrs. Eleanor M. Christman, 78, of Hyde Street died yesterday in Herkimer Memorial Hospital.
She was born in the Town of Stark, daughter of William and Margaret Quinn House. She attended Paines Hollow schools. She was married to Asa Geer of Herkimer and was later married to Wesley Christman of Van Hornseville. They lived in Jordanville and later moved to Richfield Springs. Mr. Christman died in 1948.
Mrs. Christman then lived with her daughter, Mrs. Patricia Bruce.
She leaves four daughters, Mrs. George (Margaret) Quayle of Mohawk, Mrs. Nelson (Vitginia) Jacquays of Ilion and Mrs. Peter (Marian) Polo and Mrs: Patricia Bruce, both of Richfield Springs; a son, Merritt M. Christman of Loraine, Ohio; a sister, Mrs. Henrietta Barringer of Richfield Springs RD and three brothers, Frank House of Ilion, Charles House of Richfield Springs and Edward House of Utica.
The funeral.will be at 1:30 Friday from the McGrath Funeral Home. Burial will be in Jordanville Cemetery later.

Cooperstown - Asa Geer, 45, East Springfield, was seriously injured Wednesday afternoon in a fall from a hay rack.
He was attended by Dr. Lucien Meyers, Cherry Valley, who ordered his removal to Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital here.
At the hospital it was found the man is suffering from a fracture of the cervical vertebra and partial paralysis of the legs.

Richfield Springs ... Wesley M. Christman died at his home here on Sunday, May 16th after a long period of ill health.

Mr. Christman was employed at the Darymen's League Plant as long as health permitted. During the past year he was employed in the office of Robert Monahan.
He is survived bv his wife, a daughter, Patricia Ann, living at home; a son, Merritt of Lorain, Ohio; three step-daugbters. Mrs. Margaret Owens of Mohawk, Mrs. Nelson Jacquays, Herkimer and Mrs. Peter Polo, Richfield Springs and a sister, Mrs. Harry Shanl of Edmeston.
The funeral will be held at the McGrath Funeral home, Wednesday at 2 p. m., the Rev. C. Frederick Fraser, officiating and the interment will be in the Jordanville cemetery.

OTSEGO-A Richfield Springs greatgrandmother of nine, her daughter and granddaughter were fatally injured in a two-car accident at 10:30 yesterday morning at the intersection of Rt. 28 and Jones Road.
State Police said that Henrietta Barringer, 65 and Gail Myers, 31. died at the scene of the accident and that Gail's daughter Tracy, age 1, died en route to the hospital.
According to police, the accident occurred when the Barringer woman, driving north on Rt. 28, turned her car onto the southbound lane into the path of a loaded Otsego County dump truck operated by John McShane, 42. The truck struck the car broadside. McShane
escaped injury.
The two women and the child reportedly were on their way home from Oneonta where they had just dropped off a family friend. Mrs. Myers lived in RD 1 Richfield Springs. Her husband Donald is an employe at Union Fork and Hoe in Frankfort.
A triple funeral is planned for Sunday.
Mrs. Barringer was born May 21,1910 in Paines Hollow, attended area schools, and was married to Kenneth Barringer of South Columbia. He died in 1967. She was a 25-year member of the Ilion Moose and had been employed by the Allegro Shoe Company of Little Falls.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. John (Janet) Kucherak, and Mrs. Sidney (Shirley) Lafountain, both of Richfield Springs; three sons, Kenneth of Richfield Springs, Harold of Florida, and Frederick of Denver; two brothers, Charles House of Richfield Springs and Frank House of Ilion; 34 grand-children and nine greatgrandchildren
Gail Myers was born in Cooperstown in 1944, daughter of Kenneth and Henrietta House Barringer. She attended schools in Mohawk and was married to Donald Myers of Cobleskill in Herkimer in 1967. Besides her husband, three brothers and two sisters, she is survived by four children, Christine, 9, Donald Jr., 12, Andrew, 11 and Kenneth, 7, all at home.
Tracy Ann was a year and 10 months old.
Funeral services for the three will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at the McGrath Funeral home in Richfield Springs. Burial will be in the Georgeville Cemetery.

Born in Mohawk Dec. 8, 1902, the daughter of the late Orville E. and Matilda House, she had been married to Gordon R. Davis who died last year.
She was a member of the Broadalbin United Methodist Church and of the Women of the Moose, Gloversville.
Surviving are a son, Willard of Broadalbin; three daughters, Mrs. Doris Garber and Mrs. Eileen Gallup, both of Gloversville and Mrs. John Young of Palmetto, Fla.; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. LeClede Warren of Herkimer and Mrs. Reba Early of Wells; a brother, Clarence House of Mohawk.
Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p.m. in the Jeffords Funeral Home, Broadalbin with the Rev. Thomas Blowers, pastor of the United Methodist Church, officiating.
Butial will be in the Wells Cemetery.

Gordon R. Davis, 70, of Palmetto, Fla. and formerly of Wells, was dead on arrival at 3 this morning at Littauer Hospital.
He was visiting his daughter, Mrs. Alene Gallop of Gloversville RD2.
Born in Herkimer County Nov. 28,1900, he was the son of Willard and Amelia (Faber) Davis. He married Leona M. House Feb. 26, 1921.
Mr. Davis was the owner of the Gordon Davis and Sons Garage, in which he was a mechanic, in Wells until his retirement about 10 years ago.
He attended the United Methodist Church.
A former member of the Gloversville Moose Lodge, he belonged to the Palmetto Lodge.
Survivors, in addition to his wife and Mrs. Gallup, and one son, Willard Davis of Broadalbin; two other daughters, Mrs. Doris Garber of Gloversville RD 2 and Mrs. Jane Young of Palmetto; one sister, Mrs. Delores Putman of Wells, 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

Sanley Garber, 45, died unexpectedly at 6:30 this morning at his home, 9 Second Avenue. Born at Sharon, he had been employed for 25 years by Curtin-Hebert Company.
Mr. Garber was a member of St. John's Church at Sharon. He also was a member and past chief ranger of the local Foresters Lodge.
The survivors are his wife, Mrs. Doris Garber of Gloversville; five sisters, Mrs. Ella
Bennington of Scotia, Mrs. Ada M. Scott of Caroga Lake, Mrs. Hazel Pellitier of Canajoharie, Mrs. Lydia Stern of New York City and Mrs. Hilda Coulombe of Gloversville; two brothers, Martin Garber of Gloversville and Maynard Garber of Cobleskill, also aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

SHARON HILL Oct. 3.— Miss Doris Davis; daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Davis of Caroga Lake, and Stanley Garber, son of Mrs. Carrie Garber of Sharon Springs, were married Friday afternoon, Sept. 20, by Rev. C. A. Moulton of Dolgeville.
They were attended by Miss June Davis, sister of the bride, and Robert Smith, an intimate friend of Mr. Garber. Other guests were Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Davis, Mrs. Willerd Davis, Mrs. Carrie Garber and Mrs. Ida Moulton.
Mr. and Mrs. Garber will live in Gloversville, where Mr. Garber is employed in the Curtain and Hebert machine shop.
