Mrs. Hazel Yates Nixon, wife of Ward Nixon, died yesterday afternoon ar 12:45 o'clock at her home at Caroga Lake. Mrs. Nixon was born, April 9, 1897, at Fultonville, a daughter of Peter Fonda Yates and Urilla Lasher. She was a member of the North Main Street Methodist Church of Gloversville and the Fultonvile chapter, Order of Eastern Star.
Besides her husband she is survived by on son, Ward Nixon Jr.; her mother; three brothers, Douglas Yates of Gloversville, Everett Yates and Burton Yates of Fultonville and four sisters, Miss Minnie Yates, Mrs. William Lathers, Mrs. Clifford Graham of Fultonville and Mrs. Harry Price of Scotia.

Douglas Yates, 66, of 352 North Main Street died at 3:50 this morning in Johnstown Hospital where he had been a patient for the last 10 days. He had been in failing health for several months.
A native of Fultonville, Mr. Yates had resided in Gloversville
about 40 years. He worked at the Winig Slipper Company here for several years before his illness. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. His wife, Ruth, died Oct. 26, 1966.
Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Charles C. Graham, Fultonville; a brother, Burton Yates Sr., Caroga Lake; several nieces and nephews.

FORT PLAIN — Mrs. Flora Steele Yates, 65, of Webster Street, died Tuesday in Little Falls Hospital where she had been a patient since Jan. 8. Born in Fultonville, she resided in Fort Plain about 20 years.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Robert Bower of Huntington, L.I.
There will be no funeral services Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. today at the Gray Funeral Home. Burial will be at a later date in Fort Plain Cemetery.

Miss Jane Yates, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Yates, Gloversville, became the bride of Sergeant Robert E. Bower, U. S. Army, and son of Mrs. Bess Bower, Gloversvllle, Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the First Methodist Church of that city, the Rev. Elmer C. Lewis performing the ceremony.
The church was attractive in decorations of Summer flowers, candelabra and palms. During the assembling of the guests an organ recital was given by Mrs. D. Hays Tate, and Arthur Yauney sang "Because" and "O Lord Most Holy". At the entrance of the bridal party and following the ceremony Mrs. Tate played the traditional wedding music.
The bride, given In marriage by her father, was gowned in white taffeta, with fingertip veil hanging from a tiara of seed pearls and orange blossoms. She carried a bouquet of white dahlias.
Her matron of honor, Mrs. Edwin Kuehner, sister of the bridegroom, wore a gown of blue net with Juliet cap to match and long white gloves. Her flowers were pink dahlias. Miss Ruth Everest, bridesmaid, was gowned in pink net with halo of pink flowers, and her bouquet was of orchid dahlias
Sergeant Bower's best man was Cecil Batty, and the ushers were David Meyers and Jack Batty.
The bride's mother wore a green print dress with black accessories and a corsage of Talisman roses, and the bridegroom's mother was gowned in black, with white accessories and corsage of red roses.
Following the ceremony a reception was held at the bride's home. Later the bridal pair left on a wedding trip to New York City. For going away the bride wore a pouder blue gabardine suit with black accessories and a corsage of
red roses.
Mrs. Bower was graduated from Gloversvllle High School and Plattsburg State Teachers College and was a member of the Phi Kappa Pi Sorority. She taught in the Cortland school for the past two years.
Sergeant Bower is a graduate of Gloversvllle High School and attended
R. P. I. in Troy. He is a member of Delta Phi Fraternity. He enlisted In the U. & Army in 1943 and for the past 17 months has been stationed in Oak Ridge, Tenn., where he worked on the atomic bomb. He will return to Oak Ridge at the end of his 15-day furlough.
Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Yates and daughter, Mrs. Bower, are all natives and were residents of Fultonville prior to making to Gloversvllle.

Gloversville - Mrs. Ruth Yates, 67, wife of Douglas Yates of 352 North Main Street, died unexpectedly yesterday morning at her home. She had been in failing health.
Born in Gloversville she had always lived here. Before becoming ill she was employed at the Winig's Slipper Co.
Mrs Yates was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Survivors in addition to her husband are one sister, Mrs. Mary Mosconi and a half-sister, Mrs. Helen Tooker, both of Gloversville, also several nieces ami nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Hollenbeck funeral home with Rev. George B. Hawthorne of the First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Femdale cemetery.

In the Wayfarers Chapel at Portugese Bend, Calif., Thursday, Oct. 10, Miss Jane Kathryn Bierman, daughter of Mayor and Mrs. J. Webster Bierman. Palatine Bridge, was married to Donald Althon Leton, Los Angeles, Calif.
The bride was attired in a gown of ice blue peau de soie with fitted bodice, three-quarter length sleeves and a bouffant skirt. She carried a bouquet of white orchids.
The only attendants were Mr. and Mrs. Byron Lenthall, San Gabriel, Calif.
A wedding breakfast followed the ceremony.
Mrs. Leton is a graduate of Skidmore College and is a member of the faculty of the El Segundo High School, El Segundo, Calif.
Dr. Leton received his Ph.D. degree from the University of Minnesota
and is a professor in the School of Education at UCLA.

Lynn Waterman. 60. former resident of Gloversville and Johnstown, died Saturday morning at 9:40 in the Syracuse hospital. He died a \short time after undergoing an operation.
Mr. Waterman was born in Nelliston and resided the greater part of his life in Gloversville and Johnstown. He had lived in Syracuse about five years.
The survivors are his mother, Mrs Etta Waterman, of Syracuse; one daughter, Mrs. La Veer Lawrance of this city; one sister. Mrs.Charles Rena Cole of Syracuse; one grand-son and seversl nieces and nephews.
The body was brought to the Kennedy funeral home. 150 South
Main street. Funeral arrangements are not complete.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow aftemoon at 2 at the Kennedy funeral home, 150 South Main street. The Rev. Fred L. Decker, D. D of the Mayfield Methodist church will officiate. She was born on Nov. 10, 1886 in the Town of Hope, and resided in Gloversville most of her life.
She had been a glovemaker, retiring many years ago. One of the oldest members of the First United Methodist Church, she had been a member of the former Whitestone Bible Class.
She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. LaVeer Lawrence of Gloversville; one sister, Mrs. Ruth Glenn of Massena; one grandson, three great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

The marriage of Miss Rena M. Waterman and George Hartwell Cole occurred last Saturday at high noon at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene R. Waterman, in Johnstown. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Robert L. Thompson, pastor of' the Methodist church of Johnstown, in the presence of the immediate families and a few intimate friends. The Waterman home was handsomely decorated with a color scheme of green and white, arranged by the lavish use of chtysanthemums and ferns. The bride was costumed in a traveling suit of taupe velour broadcloth with a hat to match. After December 15th Mr. Cole and his bride will be at home to friends In Manlius.
The groom is a rising young attorney of Manlius with offices in Syracuse while the bride is a popular young society woman of Johnstown.

CANAJOHARIE — Chester W. Waterman, 55. of 124 Moyer St., Canajoharie. died yesterday afternoon at St. Mary's Hospital, Amsterdam, where he had been a patient since Friday.
Bom in Canajoharie Oct. 23, 1901, he was the son of Ira and Laura Wells Waterman. He was a lifelong resident of Canajoharie.
Mr. Waterman was a shipping clerk for Beech-Nut Life Savers, Inc., and worked there 38 years. He was a member of SS Peter and Paul's Catholic Church. Canajoharie, and a member of its Holy Name Society. He was a member and past grand knight of Fort Plain Council. K. of C, and was past navigator of the Fourth Degree Assembly. He was also a past president of the White Hill Gun Club.
Survivors include his wife, Ilene Ambridge Waterman, one son. Robert, of Canajoharie, and cousins.
Funeral services will he held Friday at 9:30 a.m. at SS Peter and Paul's Church where a solemn high mass will be sung. Burial will be in SS Peter and Pauls Cemetery. Friends may call at the home at 124 Moyer St.

Eilene W. Kreim, 73, of 109 Cliff St., Canajoharie. died March 26 at St. Mary's Hospital, Amsterdam, following a short illness.
She was born Jan. 25, 1914, in Canajoharie. She was the daughter of Birdsiey and Kathryn Connolly Ambridge. She graduated from Canajoharie schools in 1931. She was employed as a secretary for Beech-Nut from 1957 to 1976. She was later employed by Central National Bank.
She was a communicate of Sts. Peter and Paul's Catholic Church, Canajoharie, where she was the organist for more than 40 years. She was a member of the Rosary Society of the church and a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court Catherine Esther No. 1264. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and a member of the Canajoharie Senior Citizens.
She was married to Chester Waterman in 1934. He died in 1957. She married Eric Kreim in 1971. He died in 1982.
She is survived by one son, Robert Waterman, Clovis, Calif.; two stepsons, Raymond Kreim, Fultonville and Paul Kreim, Downey, Calif.; a stepdaughter, Pamela Mazur, Fonda; a cousin, Elizabeth Ambridge Smith, Fort Plain and four grandchildren.
A prayer service was conducted at Houghtaling and Smith Funeral Home Inc. It was followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Sts. Peter and Paul's Church, Canajoharie. Officiating was Father William Gaffigan. Burial will be in Sts. Peter and Paul's Cemetery at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Mid-County Volunteer Ambulance Corps.

She was a devout Christian and a member of Parkway Baptist Church. Survivors include a niece, Sherri (Shaffer) Smith, Westerville, OH; a nephew, Lee Bradley, Orlando, FL; 3 great nieces and 3 great nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother Chester Bauder and two sisters, June Watson and Barbara Manakas. Funeral services will be 12pm Mon at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Main St. with burial to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 10 am Mon until service time.

ZELMA ELIZABETH LIVERMAN BAUDER, 98, formerly of Winder Street, died May 28, 2004, at Guardian Care of Ahoskie. Mrs. Bauder was born in Hertford County Oct. 3, 1905, a daughter of the late Arthur Thomas Liverman and Eva Hines Liverman. She was the widow of Harry C. Bauder and was employed as a nurse's aid by Dr. Cooke in Murfreesboro. Prior to her death, Mrs. Bauder was the oldest member of Meherrin Baptist Church. Surviving are her sister, Lucy Liverman Fretwell of Ahoskie; stepdaughters, Thelma.....

Calvin W. Calkins, 85, of 1883 Church Rd., died Friday, Sept. 12 (1980), at the Veterans Administration Hospital, Syracuse, after a long illness.
He was a life resident of Baldwinsville and had been a fireman for the city of Syracuse in 1952.
Mr. Calkins was a member of the Retired Fire Fighters Association.
He was an Army veteran of World War II and was a member of the Vernice Suttle American Legion Post 113.
Surviving are his wife. Betty, three sons, Raymond of Baldwinsville, Byron of Albuquerque, N.M., and Calvin Jr. of Nash, Texas; a daughter, Mrs. Olive Smith of Salem, Ore.; a step-daughter, Janice Skinner of Baldwinsville; a brother, Lloyd Calkins of Syracuse; two sisters, Mrs. Hazel Volt of Baldwinsville and Mrs. Frieda Albino of Syracuse; 10 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Services were Monday at 2 p.m. at the Gates Funeral Home. Burial was in Oakwood-Morningside Cemetery.

James, Lyman Gollegly, 64, of 108 Hatch St., Syracuse, former manager of publicity and advertising for the Niagara Mohawk
Power Corp. and veteran area newspaperman, died last night in Syracuse while visiting his son.
Mr Gollegly. who retired from Niagara Mohawk last November after 37 years with the utility, had served on various national committees of the utility industry and was active in the establishment of the Public Utilities Advertising Association.
A native of Port Leyden, Mr Gollegly, was graduated from Ilion High School and started his newspaper career in Ilion as a reporter for the Ilion Citizen. He later became editor of the Black River Democrat in Lowville, and subsequently Sunday editor of the Utica Observer.
He left the Observer in 1922 to serve two years as assistant secretary of the Chamber of Commerce. In 1924, he entered the utility business as advertising director for the Utica Gas & Electric Co., one of the predecessors companies of the Niagara Mohawk system.
Mr. Gollegly was transferred to Albany in 1927 as advertising manager for the system's eastern division, and to Syracuse in 1930 to organize and head publicity and advertising activities throughout Niagara Mohawk's newly formed central division.
Mr. Gollegly was a past president of the central division's 25-Year Club, the Utilities Employes Association, and the Upstate New York Council of Industrial Editors. Active in Syracuse church affairs, he had been president of the Holy Name Society of the Most Holy Rosary Church.
Besides his wife, Mrs. Kathryn Bierman Gollegly, he leaves a son, Daniel L., of Syracuse; three daughters, Mrs. Richard Kavanaugh, of Cape Vincent, Mrs. Robert Rohner, of Tully, and Mrs. George Candreva, of Hicksville, L I.; a sister, Mrs Bertram Perry, of Utica: a brother, Leroy, of Rochester.
The funeral will be at 9:30 Wednesday from the Schumacher-Whelan Brothers Funeral Home, 366 W. Onondaga St, Syracuse, and at 10 from the Most Holy Rosary Church.
Calling hours will be from 7 to 9 tonight and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 tomorrow.

Mr. Oollegly will be attended by his brother, LeRoy Gollegly. The ushers will be Louis Sator and Lyman Dolin. Ilion. Mr. Dolin is a cousin of the groom.
Miss Ethel Kathryn Bierman is a well known soprano and a prominent member of the Catholic Women's Club. For a long period she was chairman of the entertainment committee for that organisation. She is also a member of Zonta club and belongs to the choir of Church of St. Francis de Sales. For five years she has heen in charge of the phonograph departmaent at Buckingham & Moakls art store.
J. Lyman Gollegly holds the position of publicity manager for Utlca Gas & Electric Company. Until recently he was Sunday editor of tho Utlca Observer-Dispatch. He is a member of the Kiwanis Club, the Advertising Club and Utica Council 144 Knights of Columbus.
Following a quiret wedding breakfast, served in Hotel Martin, Mr. and Mrs. Gollegly will leave for a trip through the northen part of Canada. they will be at home to friends after August 15 at -- L--- Avenue.
The bride has been guest of honor at several prenuptual events at which hostesses were: Mrs. Charles Shapland, Mrs. Orville Baker, Miss Cora Sears, Mrs. E. P. Gollegly, Mrs. E. J. Kennedy, Mrs. Joseph McGinley and Mr. and Mrs. John McGuire and members of St. Francis de Sales Chior Club.

A wedding of interest to Uticans took place yesterday in St. Joseph's Chapel of the Church of the Most Holy Rosary, Syracuse, when Miss Mary Jane Gollegly, daugter of Mr. and Mrs. James Lyman Gollegly, Syracuse, formerly of this city, became the bride of Richard James Kavanaugh, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Kavanaugh, North Syracuse.
The Rt. Rev. Howard C. McDowell officiated at the ceremony and solemnized the Nuptial Mass. Miss Bertha Anne Gollegly was her sister's only attendant. The best man was Walter C. Richer Jr., Syracuse, and the ushers were Daniel L. Gollegly, brother of the bride, and Francis Kavanaugh, brother of the bridegroom.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a two-piece Victorian style gown of ice blue satin. Her shoulder length veil fell from a crown of satin and she carried an heirloom mother-of-pearl prayerbook topped with white camellias and baby's breath.
Her sister wore, a cardinal red faille gown with an empire bodice and square neckline. She wore a braided maline headdress with matching mitts. She carried a bouquet of English violets, and baby's breath.
The bride's mother chose a steel gray gown with matching hat. She wore a corsage of Briarcliff roses. The bridegroom's mother wore sheer navy blue crepe with matching accessories and a corsage of American Beauty roses.
The wedding breakfast was served in the home of the bride's parents followed by a reception. Mr. and Mrs. Kavanaugh left for a trip to the Adirondacks. They will make their home at 162 Forest, Syracuse.

Leo P. Winkle, 69, of 31 Wilson Ave., died Friday morning at 10:30 at St. Mary's Hospital where he was taken after becoming suddenly ill at his home.
Mr. Winlke was born in Amsterdam on April 21, 1899, the son of Stanislaus and Anna Guzielek Winkle, and had been a lifelong resident. He had been employed as a slaesman, retiring about five years ago. He was a member of St. Mary's Church and the Holy Name Society.
He is survived by his wife, the former Lucille Heslan; a son Robert Leo Winkle of Schenectady; one daughter, Sister Agnes Leo, CSJ; two grandsons, Steven and David Winkle; also a brother, Anthony Winkle, and two sisters, Mrs. Stanley Ratajezak and Mrs. Eugene Capola, all of Amsterdam, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Miss Marian Heslan, sister of the bride, was maid of honor and Edward Trapper, Washington, acted as best man
White gladioli and baby pompons decorated the altar of the chapel and traditional, wedding music was played by the organist.
The bride wore a light blue dress and hat with black accessories and a corsage of gardenias. The maid of honor was dressed in beige with brown accessories and had a corsage of pink camellias.
Mrs. Heslan, mother of the bride, wore a navy blue dress, black accessories and a corsage of Sweetheart roses.
A wedding dinner was served at the Willard Hotel following the ceremony.
After a southern wedding trip, Mr. and Mrs. Senko will reside in Washington where the bridegroom is stationed. The bride was formerly employed by the Amsterdam Printing Company.

Lorraine Laurie Barbara Senko, 59, of Saratoga Bridges day care treatment facility for persons with disabilities passed away Tuesday evening, January 10, 2012 at her residence on Ruggles Road, in the town of Wilton, Saratoga County. Born in Amsterdam, NY on March 14, 1952, she was the daughter of the late Stanley W. and Eleanor Heslan Senko. Laurie attended Saratoga Bridges day care treatment facility programs. Laurie loved animals and was a great advocate for the S.P.C.A. She is survived by one brother, Robert A. Senko of Webster, NY; two sisters, Susan E. Liberis (John) of Malta, NY and Margaret Ann Senko of the State of New York. Several cousins and many loving residents and staff members at Saratoga Bridges also survive. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 12 noon at the Riley Mortuary, Inc., 110 Division Street, Amsterdam, NY 12010. Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Fort Johnson, NY. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Tuesday from 11 o'clock prior to the service at the Riley Mortuary.
