 - He resided in Chaumont, NY when he registered for the WWI draft. He was a self employed farmer, was unmarried and indicated that he had kidney trouble.

 - Obituary (Watertown Daily Times, NY, Wednesday, November 3, 1926)
  Word wao received here Tuesday morning of the death of Howard Scott Getman, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Getman of Chaumont, at Oneida Castle Monday night. He is survived by his wife, the former Lanita Alger of Oneida Castle, and a young son, Howard Scott Getman, Jr., and his parents. He was 35 years old.
  Mr. Getman had been ill for about two days. His parents were summoned and were with him during his illness and at the time of his death. He visited here two weeks ago Sunday.
  He married Miss Lanita Alger, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Alger of Oneida Castle, about five years ago. After their marriage they lived here with his parents on the Getman farm until about three years ago when they moved to Oneida Castle. Mr. Getman conducted a battery and radiator station at Oneida.
  Mr. Getman was a member of the Presbyterian church and had been recently elected an elder of the church at Oneida Castle.
  The funeral will be held Thursday at 2:30 p. m. from the home.

 - Wedding Announcement (Watertown Daily Times, Monday, September 26, 1921)
  Chaumont. Sept. 26. — The marriage of Miss Lenita Alger, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. P. Alger of Oneida Castle, and Howard Getman, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. Getman of Chaumont, took place atthe home of the bride on Wednesday, Sept. 21, at 4. Rev. Willard Alger, pastor of the Presbyterian church at Factoryville, Pa. an uncle of the bride, performed the ceremony, the ring ceremny being used.
  The rooms were beautifully flower trimmed for the occasion. Just before the ceremony Mrs. McGinnis sang "Because." Miss Ruth Keene was bridesmaid and Wesley Daniels of Chaumone was Mr. Getman's best man. The bride wore a brown suit and carried flowers. After the ceremony a wedding supper was served to about 30 guests. The bride's gift to the bridegroom was a travelingcase, ant to the bridesmaid, pianist and soloist, she gave pins. The bridegroom presented his bride with a string of pearls and to his best man gave a silver cigarette case.
  Mr. and Mrs. Getman left early in the evening for a trip to New York, going as far as Albany by auto, They will also tour the Berkshires. Upon their return the will reside with Mr. Getman's parents on the Morris Tract.

  John M. Gamble, 67, formerly of Watertown, died Sunday at Willard State Hospital, Romulus, where he had been a resident since 1967.
  Graveside services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Brookside Cemetery, with Rev. Ellison L. Elmer, assistant pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, officiating.
  There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are with the Cleveland-Spink Funeral Home.
   Contributions may be made in his name to the First Presbyterian Church memorial fund.
  He is survived by four sisters, Mrs. Robert (Agnes) Horr, 253 Clinton St., Mrs. John (Mary) Atkinson. Mullin Street; Mrs. Morse O. (Ethelwyn) Dial, Naples, Fla., and Mrs. Grace G. Quimby, Clark Mills, nieces and nephews.
  Born in Watertown Jan. 13, 1909, a son of J. Munson and Blanche Chapman Gamble, he attended Watertown High School and the Storm King School, Cornwall-on-the-Hudson until 1928.
  He had been employed for a time at the Brownvllle Board Co., and the New York Air Brake. His marriage to Mary J. Wylie ended in divorce. He later married Mrs. Ruth Getman Martell. They later separated.

  Leonard R. Morgan Sr., 55, Michigan City, Ind., a civil engineer with the New York Central Railroad since 1928, died Wednesday after a brief illness in St. Anthony's Hospital, Michigan City.
  Mr. Morgan was born March 17, 1907, in Bristol, Conn., son of James E. and Irene Getman Morgan. He was graduated from Watertown High School and from Clarkson College as a civil engineer in 1926. Since that time he Had been employed in the engineering department of the N.Y. Central Railroad, working out of Syracuse.
  On Sept. 29, 1929, in St. Mary's Church, Rome, he married the former Abby Smith, Rome, daughter of Michael H. and Katherine Prossner Smith.
   Prior to living in Michigan City, he resided in Jackson, Ind. He also lived in Syracuse and Watertown.
  Mr. Morgan was a member of the Assn. of American Railroad, the American Bridge and Builders Assn. and the National Fire Protection Assn.
  Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons. Leonard R. Jr., Arcadia, Calif., and James M., Jackson, Mich.; a brother, Charles G. Morgan, E. Detroit, Mich., and three grandchildren.
  Funeral services will be at 8:45 Tuesday at the Martin J. Nunn Funeral Home and at 9:30 in St. Mary's Church where a solemn requiem Mass will be celebrated.
  Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 7 to 9 tonight and on Sunday and Monday
from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9.

  Rome, Sept. 29 — Miss Abby Smith, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael H. Smith, 606 William Street, and
Leonard R. Morgan, civil engineer, for the New York Central Railroad at Rochester, were married at noon today at the parsonage of St. Mary's Church by Rev. George S. Helsier. They were attended by John C. Neff. Jersey Shore, Pa., and Miss Emma Smith, sister of the bride.
  The bride and her maid were attired alike in brown taffeta velvet and wore hats and slippers to match. The bride carried yellow chrysanthemums and her sister a bouquet of yellow roses.
  After the wedding a reception was held at the home of the bride's parents, after which Mr. and Mrs. Morgan left for Chicago, returning via Canada and Lake Champlain to Rochester. They will reside in their newly furnished suite in the Salisbury Apartments, Rochester.
  The bride is a native Roman and is a graduate of St. Mary's Parochlal, School and Miss Eames' Business School of this city. Mr. Morgan is a native of Watertown and graduated from Watertown High School with the class of '21 and from Clarkson School of Technology in 1926. He is a son of Mr. and Mrs. James E. Morgan.

 - Obituary (Watertown Daily Times, NY, Wednesday, October 14, 1970)
  Mrs. Dora E. Fetterley, 85, of the Washington Park Road, Adams, widoewo of Lornen E. Fetterley, died this morning at 12:10 in an Ogdensburg hospital where she had been a patient for two and a half years.
  The funeral will be Friday afternoon at 2 at the Hart Funeral Home. Burial will be in Union Cemetery at Adams, Center.
  Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p. m.
  Surviving her are a daughter, Mrs. Pearly H. (Fern) LaLonde, Washington Park Road, Adams, with whom she lived; nine grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and a brother, Ross B. Getman, 830 Morrison St.
  He husband a retired cook for the New York Central Railroad, died at the age of 83 on July 17, 1962, ,in the House of the Good Samaritan of injuries suffered six days before when he was hit by a car on Route 11 at Adams Center.
  Mrs. Fetterley was bor April 6, 1885 in the town of Pamelia, a daughter of Bruce and Sarah Fetterley Getman. After the death of her father in 1900, she and her mother moved to the town of Leray, where on Nov. 26, 1903 she was married to Loren E. Fetterley of that town.
  Mr. and Mrs. Fetterley lived for a time in the town of Leray and later in this city. For more than 20 years they lived in Theresa of vicinity, subsequently, they resided in the Lorraine area and then at Adams Center.
  Following her husband's death in 1962, she moved to the home of her daughter near Adams.

  Mr. and Mrs. Ross B. Getman, 830 Morrison St., will note their 58th wedding anniversary Sunday.
  Miss Anna Belcher of Belleville, Ont, and Ross B. Getman were married Feb. 8, 1912, in Watertown.
  The couple has resided at 830 Morrison St. for the last 43 years. They are the parents of six children, Mrs. Marion Monica, Kirkville; Mrs. Myrtle Cox, Black River Road; Bruce L. Getman, Brownville; Robert C. Getman, Depauville; Earl O. Getman, Glen Park, and Lloyd G. Getman, Point Salubrious, Chaumont. They have seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
  M. Getman spent his early life in the Theresa-Perch Lake region and was employed by the St. Regis Paper Co., for 43 years, retiring, Oct. 1, 1954.

  Mrs. Thelma M. Getman Mouck, 49, of 418 Portage St., died this morning at 1:15 in the Mercy Hospital, where she had been a patient since Sunday morning at 2:25, when she was admitted in a partial coma. She had been afflicted with diabetes and had been critically ill for a few days.
  Surviving her are her husband, Leslie J. Mouck. whose address is unknown; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Steven W. (Winnie M. Brown) Getman, 418 Portage St, with whom she lived; a daughter, Mrs. Luzerne (Ruth A.) Tuttle, Military Road, near Camp Drum; a sister, Mrs. Ivan (Elsie) Sanders, Theresa; a brother, William E. Getman, 423 Seward St.; nieces, and nephews and three grandchildren.
  She was born Sept. 2. 1919 at Munn's Corners, town of Wilna, and spend her early life at Munns Corners and Felts Mills, where she attended school.
  She was married to Leslie J. Mouck of Black River in Carthage in January, 1940, but they later separated. She lived for a time at Felts Mills and Great Bend following her marriage. She moved to this city about 12 years ago.
  The funeral will be Wednesday afternoon at 2 at the Simpson Funeral Home. Rev. Ira E. Elliott, pastor of the Watertown Assembly of God Church, will officiate. Burial will be in the Black River Cemetery.
  Friends may call at the funeral home tonight from 7 to 9 and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
