Robert Herron

 - Obituary (The Otsego Farmer, Cooperstown, NY, Thursday, January 7, 1971)
  Robert Herron, aged 36, of Colliersville, died about 8:45 p.m. on Monday, January 4, of a massive coronary attack, moments after he collapsed at the Oneonta YMCA and was rushed to Fox Memorial Hospital, according to Otsego County Coroner James, Hurley.
   Mr; Herron, a fifth year seventh and eighth grade mathematics teacher at Lauren's Central School, was playing basketball as a member of the Bresee's Department Store team when he suffered the attack. Mr. Hurley said the, game had been in progress about eight minutes when Herron, standing underneath a basket, jumped up to Catch a pass and collapsed,
  The Bresee team was playing the WDOS team, which includes Mr. Hurley and Dr. Gilbert E.Gier of Oneonta.
  Dr. Gier began massaging Herron's chest immedately and continued the process while a resuscitator was also in use during the city ambulance trip to Fox Hospital
  An active sportsman, Mr. Herron  has  served as Town of Laurens summer recreation director 1in recent years and was president of the Laurens Teachers Association last year.
   A Hartwick College graduate, he went to Laurens after teaching in Florida for two years and before that, taught in Cherry Valley.
  Surviving, are his wife, the former Donna MacEwen and four children.

  Ella M. Jones, wife of Earl Brown, died Saturday morning at her home in Ames. She was born in Marshville, a daughter of Charles and Cora McEwan Jones, and spent her entire life there. She was a member of the Marshville Union Church.
  Besides her husband, the survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Edward Bigelow, Canajoharie and Mrs. Louis Walthousen, Amsterdam; one son, Gilbert C. Brown, Ames; four grandchildren; one brother, Herbert E. Jones, Marshville, several uncles, aunts and cousins.
  A prayer service will be held at the home Tuesday afternoon at 1:15 o'clock, followed by the funeral at 2 o'clock at the Fort Plain Chapel. Interment will be in Fort Plain Cemetery.

  Earl Steven Brown Of Canajoharie Taken by Death CANAJOHARIE, May 16—Earl S. Brown, 69, died Saturday after-noon at 2:10 o'clock in the Central nursing home, Johnstown, after an illness of five weeks. He was born in the Town of, Canajoharie, June 7, 1878, the son of Aaron and Lucinda Reynolds Brown. He has resided in the Town of Canajoharie all his life. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Louis Walthousen, Amsterdam, , and Mrs. Edward J. Bigelow, Canajoharie; one son, Gilbert Brown, Canajoharie, several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be. held Tuesday at 2 P. M. at the Houghtaling funeral home with the Rev. Herbert J. Guth, pastor of the Reformed Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Fort Plain Cemetery.

  Robie Lettice Jones. 61, wife of Herbert Jones, died Monday at her home in Marshville. after a year's illness. She was born August 29, 1881 in the town of Root, a daughter of Jefferson and Margaret Putnam Lettice. She was a member of the Marshville Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Ever Faithful Sunday School Class. Besides her husband, Mrs. Jones is survived by two sons, Harry E. and Herbert B. Jones, Marshville: five sisters, Mrs. Charles Keller, Mrs. Mae Klock and Mrs. Walter Shields, all of Canajoharie, Mrs. Charles Duesler, Fort Plain, and Mrs. Harold Pegnium, Brooklyn: two brothers, Jack Lettice, Gloversville, and Fred Lettice, McKinlley; three grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
  The funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Houghtallng funeral home, the Rev. Frank H. Shimer officiating. Interment will be in the Fort Plain Cemetery.

  Services for H. Ray Shinaman, 59 of 1100 Stolp ave., member of the law firm of White & Shinamin, who died suddenly Monday were held this week from the Greenleaf Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Frederick Allen officiating. Burial was in Morningside Cemetery.
  Mr. Shinaman was a native of Troy and a resident of Syracuse for 30 years. He suffered a heart attack while dining at the Yates Hotel,
  A veteran of World War I, he was a member of the First Baptist church, the Citizens Club, and the Onondaga County Bar Association, He w a s graduated from Cornell LaW school in 1915, and was formerly associated with his uncle in the firm of shinaman, White & O'Nell.
  Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Nellie Slaght Shinaman; three sons. Paul and David Shinaman of Syracuse, and Keith Shinaman, Marcellus and  four grandchildren,
   The Qnondaga County Bar Association appointed a committee to attend the funeral.

  Born in West Hartford, Conn., on Aug. 19, 1922, he was the son of David Clark and Ruth Dauchy Shinaman.
  He was the husband of the late Shirley Steele Shinaman, who passed away in May, 2003.
  He had worked as a land surveyor for Smith Company in Marshalls Creek, for 50 years until his retirement in 1991.
  He is survived by nieces and nephews.
  Cremation will take place at H.G. Smith Crematory, Stroudsburg. No services are scheduled at this time.

  Mrs. Emma Edick, aged forty-one years, wife of Marvin Edick of this city, died yesterday morning at  6 o'clock in the Ogdensburgh State hospital. The deceased had resided here practically all her life and had a large circle of friends and acquaintances who will grieve to learn of her demise. Mrs. Edick was a member of the First Methodist church of this city. She is survived by her husband, one son, Arthur Edick; one daughter, Elsie, and her mother, Mrs. Mary C Getman, all of Johnstown: two brothers. Ward Getman of Buffalo, and
Chauncey Getman of Schenectady.
  The remains will be brought here today and taken to Atpaugh  undertaking parlors to be prepared for interment. The funeral arrangements will be announced later.

  The funeral service for the late Marvin Edick, well known leather worker, who passed away last Tuesday morning, was held from the home of his daughter, Mrs. Elsie Swarts, 43 Cayadutta street, yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. Abram Rynbrandt, pastor of the Reformed church. officiated and interment was made in the Sand Flats cemetery. There were many beautiful floral pieces and members of the Johnstown lodge. No. 1185. Loyal Order of Moose, of which the deceased was a member acted as bearers.

  The marriage of Miss Emma, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chauncey Getman to Marvin Edick, at the residence of the bride's parents, last Wednesday evening, was the occasion of a very pleasant social event. Only the immediate relatives and friends of the contracting parties, numbering in all about thirty, were present, The ceremony was performed by Rev Dr. Peter Felts, of St. Paul's Lutheran church, assisted by Rev. William H. Washburne, of the Methodist church. The young people were the recipients of a number of  useful and ornamental presents, besides the hearty congratulations of all present.
   They left town this morning for Syracuse, and before their return will visit Buffalo and .Niagara Falls.
  Among the guests were William Edick of Sammonsvllle, Mr. and Mrs. Seward Keck of Keck Centre, Mr. and Mrs. Eli Sponable of Fort Plain and Mr. and Mrs. Fremont Young of Gloversville.

  FONDA- Mrs. Jennie L. Getman, wife of Chauncey Getman, died last evening at 8:40 at her home in the Town of Mohawk. Although ill for the past year and a half, death was unexpected.
  Born in the Town of Mohawk, she was the daughter of John and Mary Elizabeth Tiffany Van Deusen.
  Mrs. Getman attended local schools and was raduated from Albany Business College. She was employed for a number of years as a stenographer.
  A resident of the Town of Mohawk most of her life, she was a member of Fonda Reformed Church.
  Besides her husband she is survived by one sister, Mrs. Grace Dockstader, Fonda R.D.

  FULTONVILLE—Funeral services for Mrs. Chauncey Getman, Fonda R.D., were held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Todd funeral home, Fultonville. The Rev. John F. Egy, pastor of Fonda Reformed Church, officiated.
