  PORT BYRON — Mason H. Marvin, 80, of Haiti Road, died Tuesday, Dec. 20, in an Auburn nursing home.
  A native of Van Buren, Mr. Marvin had lived in Rochester before moving to Port Byron 12 years ago. He was retired as an operating engineer.
  Surviving are two grandchildren, Miss Sandra Mowins of Baldwinsville and John G. Mowins of Williamsville; three great-grandchildren.
  Services were at 1 p.m. on Thursday at Gates Funeral Home, 29 W. Genesee St., Baldwinsville. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.

  Earl D. Sanford, 62, of Van Ness Rd. died Friday at his home. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Lorraine Berger of Auburn and Mrs. William Lamson of Baldwinsville;. a son, Edward Sanford of Fairfield, Calif.; four sisters, Mrs. Maude House and Mrs. Roy Cook of Baldwinsville, Mrs. Catherine Vanderveer of Cicero and Mrs. Lena Gunther of New York City, and nine grand-children.
  Services were conducted in the Gates Funeral Home at 11 a.m.  Monday, the Rev. S. Arnold Westcott officiating. Burial was in Soule cemetery, Auburn.

  Irene Tucker Sanford, wife of Earl D. Sanford, 128 Grace St., Syracuse died in Baldwinsville Sunday. Besides her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Mrs. John Burger, Auburn, Mrs. William Lamson, Baldwinsville; a son, M/Sgt. Edward Sanford in Texas; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Tucker, Syracuse; three sisters, Mrs. William Bartlet and Mrs. Gladys Holden, Syracuse, Mrs. Stella Darrow, Solvay; two brothers, Stanley and Mason Tucker, Solvay; seven grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
  The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Burger, in Auburn. Interment was in Soule cemetery, Auburn.

  Ilion - Mrs. Nagdalene Baum, 86, of 557 Hoerler Ave., died at her home Sept. 14, 1958, after a short illness.
  She was born Feb. 20, 1872, in Wampsville, daughter of Renaldo and Samantha Getman Bloss. She was married to Zanas L. Baum in 1902 in Canajoharie. She was th oldest surviving member of the George Getman family of Stone Arabia.
  She had lived in this village since 1907 and was a member of the Methodist Church.
  She leaves a daughter, Mrs. Ruth Baum of Ilion; a sister, Mrs. Frank Jaquin of Clockville; a brother, John R. Bloss, South Bay; several nieces and nephews.
  The funeral will be at 1:30 Tuesday from the Applegate Funeral Home, the Rev. Herbert Loomis of Syracuse, officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Fonda.

  Oneida, Jan. 28 — George A. Bloss, 61, a fireman, dropped dead of heart disease at the Smith-Lee Bottle Cap factory about 8:30 Sunday morning, half an hour after he had reported for work.
  Bloss was born July 21, 1873 at Stone Arabia, in the Mohawk Valley. After his first wife died, he married Ruby A Hall of Canastota, Bloss was employed as a carpenter at the plant of National Casket company several years before going to the bottle cap plant. He had lived in Oneida for twenty years.
  Surviving are his widow; one daughter, Mrs. Ruby Welch; and a granddaughter, Alberta Welch, both of Canastota; four sisters, Mrs. Leah Rogers, New Berlin; Mrs. Frank Jaquin, Clockville; Mrs. Maggie Baum, Ilion and Miss Bertha Bloss, Oneida Valley; and one brother, John Bloss of Oneida Valley.

  Oneida — Mrs. Ruby Hall Bloss, widow of George Hall died Tuesday Feb. 4. 1836. In her home 106 North Willow Street, after a short illness. Her husband dropped dead a year ago in the boiler room of the Smith-Lee Bottle Cap Company plant.
  Mrs. Bloss was born in Clockville, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Seeber. She had lived in Oneida 50 years, her first husband was A. B. Hall. After his death she married Mr. Bloss about eight
years ago. She was a member of Onondaga Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star.
  Surviving are a daughter. Mrs. George Chaffee, Syraeuse: a son, Benjamin H. Hall, East Syracuse, a stepdaughter, Mrs. Margaret Clark, Oneida; two stepsons, Jacob Hall, Oneida, and Leroy Hall, Brooklyn one brother Wellington Seeber, Otego.

  Born on May 12, 180, she was the daughter of Renaldo Bloss and his wife, Samantha Getman, at Canastota. She was married to Homer Rogers.
  Surviving are one daughter, Marguerite, of this place, a brother, John Bloss, and a sister, Bertha Bloss, both of Canastota: sisters, Mrs. Frank Jaquin of Clockville, and Mrs. Magalene Baum of Ilion.
  Mrs. Rogers had been a resident of New Berlin for the past 20 years.

  G. Russell Getman, 81, a former field representative for the Montgomery Agriculture Stabilization Conservation Service, died yesterday at his home in East Stone Arabia after a short illness. Mr. Getman was born June 29, 1989, on the Getman homestead farm which has been in the family for over 140 years. He was the son of Casper and Florence Nelson Sammons Getman. He was educated in the one-room Dutch school in Stone Arabia. A retired farmer, he was a former treasurer of the Farmers Insurance Company, was a member of the Stone Arabia Grange 690 and the Montgomery Cooperative Extension Service. He had been a lifelong member of the Salem EUB Church, now the United Methodist Church, and served in many church capacities. He was a Democratic committeeman and assessor for the Palatine, a former member of the Fort Plain Central School Board of Education, a member of the Tryon Muzzle Loaders and the Evergreen Cemetery Association. He and his wife had been caretakers of Fort Klock for the Historical Society from 1961 until 1964. Survivors include his wife, the former Nellie Hillabrandt, to whom he was married in 1913; two daughters, Miss Eleanor Getman and Miss Florence Getman, both of East Stone Arabia; one sister; Mrs, Ralph Kimball, Fonda, one nephew, grandnieces, grandnephews, and cousins. Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Monday at the Salem United Methodist church in East Stone Arabia, with the pastor, the Rev. Thurman B. Beavers, officiating. Burial will be made in the Getman Family plot in Evergreen Cemetery. Friends may call at the Getman home until noon Monday, starting after 7 tonight. The Swartz Funeral Home in Fort Plain is in charge of arrangements.

  Eleanor I. Getman, 95, of Stone Arabia, passed away on Monday, December 5, 2011, at the Nathan Littauer Nursing Home, Gloversville, after a brief illness.
  She was born on October 16, 1916, in the family farm house in Stone Arabia, a daughter of Russell and Nellie Hillabrandt Getman. Eleanor resided there with her sister, Florence. She attended the local school, then high school in Canajoharie, where she graduated in 1934. Eleanor was employed with Beech-Nut of Canajoharie until her retirement. She was a lifelong Protestant, having attended both the Methodist Church, next door and the former Reformed Church, a member until it closed. Eleanor was interested in local history, a member of the Fort Plain Museum and Fort Klock.
  Survivors include many cousins. She was predeceased by her sister, Florence on July 2, 2011.
  In keeping with her wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral services.
  A memorial service will be conducted on Saturday, December 10, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. from the Salem United Methodist Church, Stone Arabia Road, East Stone Arabia. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Fonda at the convenience of the family.
  In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in her memory may be made to the Salem United Methodist Church, 1254 Stone Arabia Road, Fort Plain, NY 13339, the Ayers Memorial Animal Shelter, 133 Hilltop Road, Sprakers, NY 12166 or to the charity or church of one's choice in Eleanor's name.

  Florence Getman, age 90, of Stone Arabia, passed away on Saturday July 2, 2011, at Nathan Littauer Hospital, Gloversville.
  She was born on the family farm in Stone Arabia on May 20, 1921, a daughter of the late Russell Getman and Nellie Hillabrandt Getman.
  She attended Stone Arabia school and then went to Canajoharie High School and graduated in 1938.
  Florence was a member of the former Reformed Church of Stone Arabia.
  She was employed with Beech-Nut of Canajoharie until her retirement.
  Survivors include one sister, Eleanor Getman of Stone Arabia; and many cousins.
  Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. from the A. G. Cole Funeral Home, Inc. 215 East Main Street, Johnstown.
  Friends and family may call on Wednesday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Fonda.

  FONDA — Ralph C. Kimball, 77, of 1 East Street, died at 8:30 Saturday night at St. Mary's Hospital, Amsterdam, where he was admitted earlier that day He had been in falling health for several months.
  He was bom Feb. 7, 1900, in Salisbury Center, the son of Frank and May Sutliff Kimball. He had been employed for many years as an agent for the Railway Express Agency at Fonda and was associated with Kimball florists of this village.
   Mr. Kimball was a member of the Fonda Reformed Church and of the Glen-Mohawk Senior Citizens Club, He was a member and secretary of the Fonda volunteer fire department, Snell Hose Company No. 2.
  He married the former Magdalene Getman, who survives, Nov. 29, 1922.
  Other survivors include one son, Leland Kimball of Fonda; two brothers, Roy Kimball of Hayward, Calif., and Raymond Kimball of Fort Plain; two sisters, Mrs. Ida Hudson of Fort Plain RD and Miss Laura Kimball of Fort Plain; three grandchildren, one great-grandson, nieces, nephews and cousins.

  FONDA — Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Kimball of 1 East St., were honored at an open house in their home Sunday in celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary.
  Hosts were their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Leland Kimball of Fonda and their grandchildren, Mr. and Mrs. Roger Petterson of Fultonville; Terry Kimball and Robin Kimball, of Fonda.
  Ralph Kimball, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank Kimball of Salisbury, and the former Magdaline German, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Casper Getman of Stone Arabia were united in marriage Nov. 22, 1922 in the Stone Arabia Reformed Church by the late Rev. Charles Dickens.
  Mr. and Mrs. Russell Getman of Stone Arabia, brother and sister-in-law of the bride were the attendants.
  Kimball retired in 1962 after 26 years of employment with the Railway Express Agency. For the past 22 years along with his son, he has operated the Kimball Florists in Fonda.
  Mrs. Kimball was employed for 20 years by various glove factories in the area, retiring in 1958.

  CANAJOHARIE - Stanley Eaker, 52, was found dead in a bedroom of his home, 15, Erie boulevard, about noon Sunday when members of his family returned from morning services at St. Mark's Lutheran church. He had shot himself with a 20-gage shotgun.
  Dr. William Rathbun was summoned and notified Dr. Michel Kigun of Fonda, who gave a verdict of suicide. Sheriff William Green and William Fish, Montgomery county investigator, made the investigation.
  Mr. Eaker was born in Stone Arabia Feb. 18, 1898, a son of William and Viole Abel Eaker, and spent all his ife there until he moved to Canajoharie nine years ago. He was employed in the peanut butter department of the Beach-Nut Packing Co.
  Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Myrtle Getman Eaker, a teacher of the Canajoharie central school at Sprakers: two daughters, Mrs. Carl Abeling and Miss Beverly Eaker, all of Canajoharie; on sister, Mrs. Grover Borden of Fort Plain; also several nieces nephews and cousins.
  The funeral will be held Wednesday at 2 p. m. at the Lenz funeral home with Rev. Paul C. Reisch, pastor of St. Marl's Church officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Fonda.

  Ervin G. McCloskey died on June 6 at his home in Ellicott City, Md. He was a graduate of Hamburg High School in 1905 and of Cornell University in 1909. He made his home in Hamburg until 1912.
  He leaves surviving his wife, Mrs. Emily McCloskey; a daughter, Mrs. Catherine Dewey of
Baltimore; a son, Thomas and a brother, James B. McCloskey of Camp Rd.
  The James McCloskeys attended funeral services in Ellicott City on June 8.

  A Baha'i service was held Saturday in the W. L. Froehley Funeral Home in Lake St. for James B. McCloskey of Camp Rd. who died Oct 7 in his 82nd year. Burial was in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Buffalo.
  Mr. McCloskey was a retired realtor.
  Mr. McCloskey was the husband of the late Charlotte Sherman and Martha Whitworth. He leaves three sons, James B., Jr., Fred and Neil McCloskey, a daughter, Mrs. Susan Green, 14 grandchildren and three greatgrandchildren Mr. McCloskey was also a brother of the late Irving McCloskey.
