Dorothy Derby
Dorothy Derby, 86, passed away at the Good Samaritan Center in Sioux Falls on Saturday, February 7, 2009.
Dorothy Catherine Scollon was born on September 1, 1922 in Sioux Falls, SD to Edward and Margaret Scollon. She graduated from Washington High School in 1941 and worked for John Morrell for many years. In 1943, she married John Derby. He preceded her in death in 1992. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Lyle.
Dorothy is survived by a sister: Mary Ferrel, Fresno, CA; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and her special dog, Sally. Memorials may be designated to the Humane Society or the charity of your choice.
Visitation will be Wednesday, 10:00 AM at Barnett-Lewis Funeral Home with a Funeral Service at 11:00 AM in our chapel with burial to follow at St. Michael Cemetery.

ILION-Ernest (Pete) Greene, 66, of Cedar Lake Club and Safety Harbor Fla., formerly of llion died yesterday in Mohawk Valley General Hospital.
He attended Ilion schools. He married Florence Ares in 1937 in Mohawk.
Mr. Greene worked as a building and grounds superintendent in the Ilion school system until his retirement in 1971.
He was a World War. II Navy veteran.
Mr. Greene was a member of St. Augustine's Episcopal Church, Iiion; Ilion Masonic Lodge 591, and the Cedar Lake Club.
He leaves his wife, a son, Richard E. Greene, Ilion, and ~ daughter Mrs. Walter (Caroline) Clark, Herkimer.
The funeral will be at 10:30 Tuesday at St. Augustine's Episcopal Church. Burial will be in Mohawk Cemetery.
Calling hours are 7 tonight and l to 4 and 7 to 9 tomorrow at the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home, Ilion.

The bride will be attended by her sister, Miss Harriet Ares, as maid of honor, and Miss Bernice Kittle, Ilion, and Miss Marian Griswold, Mohawk, as bridesmaids. The groom will be attended by John B. Williams, Richfield Spa. as best man, and James W. Haslan, Washington, D. C. and R. William Brady, Herkimer, will usher. The bride will be given away by her father. Mrs. Arthur Turner will preside at the organ. After the ceremony, a wedding breakfast will be held at the home of the bride's parents on East Main street, for close friends and relatives.
The bride Is a graduate of Mohawk High School, class of '32, and holds a position in the payroll department of the Remington Rand. The groom attended Ilion schools and is employed at the Remington Arms. After a wedding trip through the New England states, they will be at home to their friends at 41 Maple pl., Ilion.
