 - Funeral Announcement (The Morning Herald, Gloversville and Johnstown, NY, Monday, May 9, 1932)
  Funeral services for Harry La Rowe were conducted yesterday afternoon at 3 at the home, 28 Steele avenue and were very largely attended. Rev. Will D. McCurdy, pastor of the First Baptist church officiated and interment was made in the Fern Dale cemetery.
   Bearers were Edison Platts, Emmett Tooker, Augustus Fanch, Clifford Swears, Frank McMaster and Willard Smith. Flowes were from relatives, neighbors and friends and the following organisations of the First Baptist church, Baraca class, Bible Searcher Phllatheas, Primary Department, Junker Department, Win One class; the Ladles' Aid society of the Sloansvllle Methodist church, Domestic Glove Company, classmates and teachers of Estee school, W. N. Zimmer & Sons and employes, toggling room of G. Levor & Co., young friends of Donald LaRowe, Women's Benefit Association, J. H. Danforth employes, employes of L. F. Beebe and Ivy Leaf Rebekah lodge.

  Mrs. Sadie E. La Rowe, 92, of 28 Steele Avenue, died at about 1 yesterday afternoon at the Fulton County Infirmary where she was a patient two years.
   She was born May 9, 1881, in the Town of Bleecker and had
resided most of her life in Gloversville. She was a glove worker at area glove shops before retirement at the age of 65. Her husband, Harry C. La Rowe, died in 1932.
   Mrs. La Rowe was a member of the First Baptist Church and a Sunday School teacher of the church more than 40 years. She was a former member of its Women's Benefit Association.
   She had been a Gloversville member of the Fulton County Republican Committee for many years and was a member of Cayadutta Chapter, OES.
   She is survived by one son, Donald La Rowe of Gloversville; two daughters, Mrs. Vera Fero of Esperance, Schoharie County, and Mrs. Doris Tyler of Gloversville; nine grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

  Mrs. Luella A. Van Antwerp, 45, wife of Everett Van Antwerp of
Greylock avenue, Niskayuna, died at her home Saturday following a long illness.
   A resident of Schenectady for the past 21 years, Mrs. Van Antwerp
was born in Gloversville. she was a member of the Lisha Kill Reformed church for many years.
 Other than her husband, she is survived by her mother, Mrs. Mary LaRowe; four brothers, Kenneth, Theodore, Robert and Leland LaRowe; two sisters, Mrs. Clara Simone and Mrs. dorothy Rhode, and several nieces and nephews, all of Gloversville.
  The Rev. Charles Smith of the Lisha Kill Reformed church will officiate at funeral services at the Griswald funeral home Tuesday at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park.

  Everett VanAntwerp, 71, of Greylock avenue, Niskayuna, died yesterday at Ellis Hospital after a long illness.
   Mr. VanAntwerp was born in Fonda. He had lived in Schenectady most of his life. He was employed at ALCO Products as a machinist for 18 years until his retirement several years ago. He was an army veteran of World war 1.
   The husband of Mrs. Luella LaRowe VanAntwerp, he is survived by a sister, Mrs. Irene Shaw of Schenectady.
   The funeral service will be held at the Griswold funeral home at 1 p.m. Wednesday. Rev. Theodore Theilpape, pastor of Woodlawn Reformed Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park cemetery. The funeral home will be open after7 P p.m. tomorrow.

  GLOVERSVILLE - Francis E. LaRowe, 78, of 79 Montgomery
street, a retired glove worker, died yesterday morning at Nathan Littauer Hospital where he was a patient since Thursday. He had been ill a year.
   A CITY RESIDENT 60 years, he was born in Red Bank, NJ, and came to Mayfleld at the age or two. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the Lone Star lodge of Odd Fellows and the Ivy Leaf Rebekah lodge.
   Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Pear LaRowe; two daughters, Mrs. Leicester Fosmire of Gloversville and Mrs. David Cast of RD, Gloversville; eight grandchildren; nieces and nephews.  
   Services will be held at 2 p.m tomorrow at the Walrath and Bushouer funeral home. Rev. John D. Reld of the First Presbyterian Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Mayfleld cemetery.

  Walker A. LaRowe, 77, owner and operator of the LaRowe Glove Co. of Northville for 50 years, died late yesterday morning at the Turpin Nursing Home in Gloversville where he was a patient for 10 months.
   Mr. LaRowe was born in Mayfield Oct. 9, 1894, son of Stephen and Sarah Walker LaRowe. He was a lifelong area resident.
   He was a member of the Kingsboro Golf Club, U.S. Trotting Assn., Green Mountain Horse Assn. and the Upper Hudson Valley Antique Car Club.
   A former president of the Northville Central School Board of Education, Mr. LaRowe was also a Northville Chamber of Commerce member, held memberships in the Civil Air Patrol, State Sheriff's Assn., Northampton Republican Club, National Wildlife Federation and was chairman of the Village Centennial Celebration committee.
   He was a member and former elder and trustee of the United Presbyterian Church of Northville, and was Sunday school superintendent and choir director for many years.
   Survivors include his widow; two sons, Woodrow of Glenridge, N.J. and Elrow of Clearwater, Fla.; two daughters, Mrs. Paul Stephani of Hampton, Va. and Mrs. Charles Freihofer of Troy, and 12 grandchildren.


Marriage Notes for Asa Walker LaRowe and Mary Inez Close

 - Wedding Announcement (the Morning Herald, Gloversville and Johnstown, NY, Monday, July 21 1913)
  Saturday morning at 7:45 o'clock the marriage of Asa Walker LaRowe and Mary Inez Close was solemnised at the manse in Mayfleld. The ceremony was performed by the pastor, Rev. Josiah Still A. B. A. M., using the full ring service of the Presbytarian church. They were unattended. The bride was becomingly attired in a tailored unit of dark blue cloth. They were taken immediately by automobile to Fonda to board the Western express for Buffalo, Niagara Falls, Rochester, Union Springs and other places of interest, spending two weeks with relatives and friends. On their return they will reside in Mayfield. Mr. LaRowe is an alumnus of the Gloversville High nehool and the youngest and one of the most brilliant Sunday school superintendent in Fulton county. The bride is an alumnus of the Gloversville Business college and a fine musician. Both are very popular young people and a host of friends will extend congratulations.

  CLEVERDALE Carol LaRowe Freihofer, ,78, passed away Tuesday, June 6, 2006, at her home surrounded by her loving family, following a short illness.
  Born on Sept. 19, 1927, in Northville, N.Y, she was the daughter of Asa Walker LaRowe and Mary Inez (Close) LaRowe.
  Carol graduated from Beaver College in Philadelphia, Pa., with a B.A. degree and later from Albany State Teacher's College in Albany, N.Y, with a master's degree in education.
  She was employed as an elementary and high school teacher in Edinburgh Depot, N.Y. and Cherry Valley, N.Y. and then taught business at Cazenovia Junior College in Cazenovia, N.Y.
  She married Charles C. Freihofer Jr. on Sept. 4, 1957. Carol was a devoted wife, stepmother and grandmother ("Nana Bubbles"), who dedicated much of her life volunteering for many community organizations as diverse as the North Queensbury Volunteer Fire Co. Auxiliary, The Hyde Collection, and the Troy Boys and Girls Club.
  She was also a member of the Glens Falls Country Club, where she belonged to the bridge club, and a member of the Troy Country Club.
  Carol was predeceased by her husband, Charles C, Freihofer Jr.; and two brothers, Woodrow LaRowe and Elrow LaRowe.
  She is survived by one sister, Roberta LaRowe Stephani of Denver, Colo.; one stepson, Charles C. "Chris" Freihofer III and his wife, Jacqueline Littrell Freihofer, of Lake George; one stepdaughter, Pamela Kvidera and her husband, Max Kvidera, of Seattle, Wash.; four grandsons, Clint Sheer of Moreau, Christian Freihofer of Lake George, Lucas Freihofer of Lake George, and Alex Kvidera of Los Angeles, Calif.; one sister-in-law, Terry Freihofer of Loudonville and many nieces and nephews.
  A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, June 19, 2006, at the Harrisena Community Church, Ridge Road, Queensbury, with the Rev. Lamont D. Robinson, pastor, officiating.
  Burial will be in the family plot at Oakwood Cemetery, Troy at the convenience of the family.
  No calling hours are scheduled.
   The Freihofer family wishes to express its sincere appreciation and gratitude for the kindness and concern shown to Carol by the North Queensbury. Rescue Squad, the Glens Falls Hospital Rehabilitation Center and High Peaks Hospice of Warren County.
  In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested that those who wish to send memorial contributions in Carol's name can do so to ; the charity of one's choice.
  Arrangements are under the direction of Stafford Funeral Home, Inc. of Lake George.

  "Mrs. Smithe dies; retired librarian - Margaret Schenck Smithe, 74, of 27 Center St., Union Springs, widow of Douglas A. B. Smithe, died Wednesday in Auburn Memorial Hospital after a long illness. Mrs. Smithe was born in Union Springs and had resided there all her life. She was a librarian of the Springport Free Library for 12 years before retiring in January 1973. Mrs. Smithe was musician and past matron of the Star of Cayuga Chapter, 339, OES, Union Springs. She was a member and Elder of the First Presbyterian Church of Union Springs. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. John W. (Katherine) Orr of Sherrill, Mrs. W. Louis (Corrinne) Bales of San Jose, Calif., and Mrs. Richard W.   Douglas A. B. Smithe - Douglas Ashton Brainerd Smithe was born in Germantown, Pa., on July 23, 1889. He moved to New York State in childhood and spent the greater part of his life around Union Springs and Auburn. He was married on February 14, 1912 to Lillian A. Smith of Rochester whose death two years later he survived. His life work was with electricity in which line he was employed both before and after his World War service. He enlisted with the 72nd Coast Artillery Corps spending five months in the United States and seven months in France. On March 3, 1918 he was married to Margaret Edith Schenck of Union Springs. To this union were born three daughters, Mrs. William Rochester and the Misses Corinne and Mary Elizabeth Smithe, all of Auburn. In failing health the past few years he had spent several months in the Veterans Facility Hospital at Batavia. He was taken to the Veterans Hospital at Bath shortly before his death which occurred Sept. 25, 1939. Surviving are his widow Mrs. Margaret S. Smithe and three daughters of Auburn. Also two brothers Grahame Hallock of Washington and Harold Hallock of Union Springs and a sister, Mrs. Grace Blythe of Los Angeles. Funeral services were held at the home of Mrs. Edith Schenck, Center street, at 10:30 o'clock this morning. Rev. Donald McKenzie pastor of the Second Presbyterian Church of Auburn officiated. Burial was in Chestnut Hill Cemetery. The bearers were Harold Weeks, Andrew Stiles and Syrtl Rochester of Auburn, Ernest Dent of Skaneateles and Ernest Jobson and Jerry Davis of this village.

Marriage Notes for Corinne Edith Smithe and William Louis Bales

 - Wedding Announcement (The Citizen advertiser, Auburn, NY, Thursday, September 2, 1942)
  Miss Corinne Edith Smithe and William Louis Bales, ensign, U. S. N. R., were married Wednesday afternoon, September 1, at 4 o'clock in the parlor of the Second Presbyterian Church.
   Mrs. Donald H. MacKenzie played the wedding march. The bridal party stood before the fireplace which was banked with greens and white gladioli. Rev. Donald H. MacKenzie performed the ceremony, using the double ring ritual. The bride was given in marriage by Dr. A. B. Chidester and was attended by her sister, Miss Betsey Smithe. William W. Rochester, brother-in-law of the bride, acted as best man.
   The bride wore a rose crepe dressmaker suit with navy blue accessories and an orchid corsage. The bridesmaid's dress was black sheer crepe, accessories rose and black, and her flowers sweetheart rosebuds. The bride's mother wore silk jersey in jewel tones with black and a white corsage. The bridegroom wore his white dress uniform.
   After the ceremony a reception was held in the church parlor. Refreshments were served from a table beautifully decorated with white glads and smilax.
   The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Douglas A. B. Smithe of 34 Easterly Aveaue and the late Douglas A. B. Smiths. She graduated from East High School in Auburn, attended Cornell University and is at present taking the Curtiss-Wright aeronautical engineering cadette course at Pennsylvania State College.
   The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Bales of San Mateo, Calif. He is a graduate electrical engineer, class of '42, from the University of California at Berkeley, and is at present stationed with the Atlantic Fleet.
   After a honeymoon in New York City, Mrs. Bales will return to her
studies at Penn State University and Ensign Bales will report for duty.
   Out of town guests attending the wedding were Mrs. Edith W. Schenck of Union Springs, Mrs. Spencer W. Riley of Scio, N. Y., Misses Elizabeth and Virginia Hollock of Fulton, Miss Jacqueline Himebaugh of Madison, O.; Miss Jane Vernon of Rock Island, Ill.;

  Miss Mary Elizabeth Smithe, daughter of Mrs. Douglas A. B. Smithe of 34 Easterly Avenue and the late Douglas A.B. Smithe, became the bride of Richard Decker, son of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel D. Decker of 77 Lansing Street, at 4 o'clock Saturday afternoon, January 25, in the
chapel of Second Presbyterian Church. Rev. Dr. Frank L. Gosnell, pastor of the church, performed the double ring ceremony. The candle-lit chapel was trimmed with white flowers and palms. Music for the occasion was played by Harry S. Mason, organist.
   The bride, who was given in marriage by her uncle, Spencer W. Riley of Scio, N. Y., wore a cream wool crepe dress with black and gold accessories and a corsage of gardenias and blue iris. Mrs. William W. Rochester of this city, sister of the bride, was matron of honor. She wore a dusky pink dress with matching hat and brown accessories and her corsage was blue lris, white poms and yellow roses. The bride's mother wore gray crepe with black and white accessories. The bridegroom's mother wore black, sequin trimmed. Each had a corsage of red rosebuds. Alan C. Drennen of Auburn was best man.
   After the ceremony, a reception was held in the church parlors and refreshments were served. The bridal couple left by plane for a trip to New York City. The bride is a graduate of East High School and Rochester Business Institute. The bridegroom is a graduate of East High  School and served three years in the submarine branch of the Navy. He is now attending classes at the Rochester Institute of Technology. Mr. and Mrs. Decker will make their home in Rochester, where both are employed.
   Out of town guests attending the wedding were from Rochester. Batavia, Scio, Fairport, North Tonawanda, Penn Yan, Cortland, Skaneateies, Syracuse and Union Springs.

  Tabernacle Baptist church, Syracuse, N. Y., was decorated with baskets of white gladioli, delphinium and gypsophila for the wedding on Saturday, June 30, of Miss June M Schenck and Floyd. G. Dunbar, The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. Perry Schenck, 103 street, Syracuse, and the bridegroom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Dunbar of Baldwinsville. The Rev. Samuel A. Fehl performed the double-ring ceremony.
   Given in marriage by her father the bride chose a ballerina-length gown of white rosepoint lace over white duchess satin with a strapless, fitted bodice edged in satin. Her waist-length fitted jacket of matching lace had a Peter Pan collar and the double-tiered English illusion veil was caught to a calot of bridal woven net cord edged with satin, with clusters of orange blossoms on each side. She carried a cascade of white carnations and stephanotis.
  Miss Joyce C. Schenck, her sister's only attendant, was attired in a gown of lime green nylon marquisette over satin eith a fitted bodice, bouffant skirt, and matching bolero jacket trimmed in satin. She wore a garden hat of lace with a satin bow and c arried a cascade of yellow roses and yellow dasies.
  James Sylvester was best man and ushers were W. Perry Schenck Jr. brother of the bride, and Ellis Carruthers.
  The couple went to Canada on their wedding trip after a reception in the church parlors.
  Mr. and Mrs. dunbar are both graduates of Central high school, Syracuse. She is employed by the New York Telephone company, and Mr. Dunbar, who served three years in the Navy, attends Powelson Business Institute.

  Wilbur A. Russ, aged 76, of Maryland, died Tuesday, September 15, at the Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital, Cooperstown, following a long illness. Mr. Russ was born in Milford on December 24, 1893, the son of Abraham and Mary (Wilber) Russ. He married Anna Wieser in Maryland on February 16, 1921. He was a retired dairy farmer and lifelong resident of the Maryland area. He was a past member of Schenevus Grange and a former member of the Dairymen's League. Surviving are his wife; a son, Wilber G. Russ, Maryland; a daughter, Mrs. Clayton (Anna) Scott of South New Berlin; five grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m., Friday, September 18, from the Heller Funeral Home, Schenevus, with the Rev. Lynn H. Brown, retired Methodist minister, officiating. Burial will be in Maryland Cemetery.

  A very pretty home wedding was celebrated at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Wieser on Hooker Mountain, near Milford, at 2 o'clock, Wednesday afternoon, February 16th, when their oldest daughter, Anna Louise, became the wife of Wilber Alonzo Russ, son of Mr. and Mrs. Abram Russ of Maryland, in the presence of the immediate families, and  a few friends, thirty-five in all. The bride's gown was blue messaline, and
she wore as a corsage bouquet, paper white narcissus, her maid of honor was her youngest sister, Katie, who wore brown messaline and pink carnations. The best man was Burr Mattice of Maryland. The Rev. N. B. Ripley of the Methodist Episcopal church of Milford, performed the ceremony, which was the ring service. Immediately following congratulations, a bountiful dinner was served. Roses and carnations decorated the tables and the favors were small baskets of chocolates.
  Mr. and Mrs. Russ visited friends in Albany on their honeymoon, and March 1st will commence housekeeping on one of the McKown farms near Maryland.

Mr. Russ was a farmer and a driver of a school bus for the Draper Central School in Schenevus. He had lived all his life in Maryland and vicinity. She came to this country at the age of two, residing in New York eighteen years before moving here in 1918 ... Surviving are her husband, a member of Co. I, Oneonta; two sons, Capt. Vol. I. Russ, Alliance Air base, Neb., and MM I/C John W. Russ, U. S. Navy; her father who resides here; two sisters, Mrs. Wilbur Russ, Maryland, and Mrs. Fred Jacobi, St. Albans, L.   A very pretty home wedding was solemnized at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Weiser, Sehenevus, R. D. No. 1, Wednesday afternoon, April 23d, when their second daughter, Ida Julia, and Vol Ira Russ, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Abram Russ, of Maryland, were united in marriage by the Rev. N. B. Ripley of Milford. The bridesmaid was her oldest sister, Miss Anna Weiser, and the best man, was the groom's brother, Wilber Russ. The ring service of the Methodist Episcopal church was used. After congratulations, a delicious dinner was served, twenty-four people being seated at three nicely arranged and decorated tables. Many useful and beautiful presents were received by the young couple, consisting of furniture, silver, cut glass, money and other articles too numerous to mention. After spending a short honeymoon with the groom's aunt, Mrs. George Lyon, of Milford, they will go to housekeeping in rooms ready for them in half of the house on the farm owned by the bride's father and worked by him and Mr. Russ, jointly. Among those present outside the immediate families, were Mr. and Mrs. Earl Johnson and Mrs. Levi Johnson of Worcester, Mr. and Mrs. B. W. Pope of Hartwick, Mr. and Mrs. J. C.   Mrs. Lillian Mae Russ, aged 68, of Maryland, died suddenly on August 23 at Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown. She was born February 4, 1890, the daughter of Cyrus and Angelina (Bernhart) Blencoe. She was married to Daniel B. Wightman on August 11, 1909. He died in 1943. She was married to Vol Russ in February, 1946. Surviving are her husband; three daughters, Mrs. Leah Dantie of Cobleskill; Mrs. Laura Mabie of Albany; Mrs. Velma Moster of Richmondville; three sons, Cyrus and Charles Wightman of Maryland and Wayne Wightman of Bordontown, N. J.; two stepsons, Vol Russ Jr., of Lake George and John Russ of Schenectady; ten grandchildren, and one brother, Ernest Blencoe of Maryland. Funeral services were held at 2 p. m. on Tuesday, August 26 at the Potter Funeral Home in Schenevus, with the Rev. John Douglas Evans, rector of the Church of the Holy Spriit, officiating. Burial was in Maryland Cemetery.

  Robert A. Dopp, 77, of Fultonville, died Thursday, Sept. 29, at St. Mary’s Hospital, following a long illness.
  Mr. Dopp was born March 17, 1911, in Dolgeville, the son of Abram and Margie Walker Dopp. He was a lifelong area resident.
  He was owner and driver of the Ryder Trucking Co. of Selkirk until he retired in 1974.
  Mr. Dopp was a member of and chairman of the board of trustees of the Rural Grove Christian Church. He was a member of Rural Grove Volunteer Fire Department, a 20-year member of Fonda-Fultonville Waste Water Treatment Plant Board and a 10-year member of the board of the Maple Avenue Cemetery Association. He also was a member of Fultonville Zoning Board.
  He married Bertha Zemken on July 4, 1935.
  In addition to his widow, survivors include two daughters, Sandra Neil, Buffalo, Mary Ann Norealt, Massena; three sisters, Betsy Ann Slavic, Boca Raton, Fla., Enid Harrington, Rome, Myra Landers, South Holland, Ill; five grandchildren and one great-grandson.
  Services were held Tuesday at the Jackson and Todd Funeral Home, Fultonville and burial was in Maple Avenue Cemetery.

  The Rev. Edward Sheedy, pastor performed the double ring ceremony. Mrs. Carrol S Walsh, organist, played the wedding music and sang “The Lord’s Prayer”, and “Ave Maria.”
  Baskets of white gladioli and palms decorated the church.
  The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of white rosepoint lace and nylon tulle over satin, with basque bodice, Peter Pan collar, long sleeves and full waltz-length skirt of tulle tiers. Her fingertip veil of imported illusion fell from a lace cloche trimmed with pearls. She carried a fan shaped bouquet of white roses with white satin streamers tied with baby's breath.
  Mrs. Frank Burda, Johnstown, sister of the bridegroom, matron of honor, wore a gown of green tulle over iridescent taffeta, a matching tulle jacket and half hat, with a shoulder-length veil. Her colonial bouquet was of pastel summer flowers, with green ribbon bow.
  Miss Marilyn Landers, Hanunond, Ind., cousin of the bride, and Miss Carolee Fox, Canajoharie, were bridesmaids. Miss Landers’ strapless gown was blue turquoise tulle over taffeta with a shrug jacket and waltz length tulle skirt. Miss Fox was attired in a strapless gown with a white lace bodice over lavender taffeta, shrug jacket of tulle and waltz-length tulle skirt.
  Their half hats of tulle matched their gowns and they carried colonial bouquets of pastel colored summer flowers tied with ribbons the color of their gowns.
  Miss Mary Ann Dopp, sister of the bride, and Miss Margaret Anne Burda, niece of the bridegroom, were flower girls. Their gowns were pastel pink nylon tulle overtaffeta with sweethart necklines, puffed sleeves and self-ruffled waltz length skirts. They wore pink tulle poke bonnets and carried small colonial bouquets similar to the other attendants, and tied with pink ribbons.
  Frank Shields, Johnstown, was best man. William Horning and Robert Conroy, both of Johnstown, ushered.
  For her daughter's wedding, Mrs. Dopp chose a gown of raspberry silk crysallette over taffeta with navy blue accessories and a corsage of dark pink sweetpeas.
  A reception for 90 guests at the Manor, East Creek, followed the ceremony. After the reception. Mr. and Mrs. Neil left for a wedding trip in the New England States. For traveling the bride wore a red linen suit with white accessories and a corsage of white sweetpeas.
  The bride is a graduate of Canajoharie Central school and has been
employed in the Arkell and Smiths’ office, Canajoharie. The bridegroom, a Johnstown High school graduate, attended Colorado A. and M., college and Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, He served four years with the U.S. Marines and the U.S Air Force. He will enter the Buffalo State Tears' college in September to complete his art education.

  James Charles Landers, 83, late of South Holland, Illinois and formerly of Johnstown, New York. Beloved husband of Myra (nee Dopp); loving father of Myrna (Jack) Henshilwood of Munster, Indiana, Marilyn Karasoff of Dolton, Illinois and Charles (Sue) Landers of Florence, Oregon; proud grandfather of seven; great grandfather of six; many nieces and nephews.
  Visitation Sunday, August 28, 1994, 2 to 8 p.m. at the Drumm Funeral Home, 1200 East 162nd St., (one block west of the Calumet Expressway on U.S.6), South Holland, Illinois. Funeral 8 P.M. with Masonic Service at 7 p.m. Graveside services 1 p.m. Tuesday, August 30, 1994 at the Maple Avenue Cemetery in Fultonville, New York.
   Mr. Landers was a World War II veteran with the U.S. Navy stationed in the South Pacific; member of the Orak Shrine of Michigan City, Indiana; Low Vale Masonic Lodge 139; Northlake County Shrine Club of Hammond, Indiana; Teamsters Local 710 and member of V.F.W. Post 9964. Donations may be made to the Shriners Crippled Children Hospital.

  Miss Myra Margie Dopp, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Abram Dopp, Palatine Bridge, and James Charles Landers, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Landers, Johnstown, were married Saturday evening at the home of the bride's parents by the Rev. Herman F. Vesper, pastor of St. John's Lutheran church, Canajoharie. The ceremony was witnessed by the near relatives and a few invited guests. Robert A. Dopp, brother of the bride, was best man, and Miss Elma Zapp, Gloversvllle, maid of honor. Mr. and Mrs. Landers are well known young people who will make their future horme in Johnstown, where the bridegroom is employed in the post office department.

  Saturday evening at 8, Miss Myra Dopp, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Abram Dopp of Palatine Bridge became the bride of James Landers, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Landers of Johnstown at a charming home wedding, which was performed by Rev. Herman F. Vesper and which took place on the bride's parente' twenty-fifth wedding anniversary.
   The couple was attended by Miss Elma Zapp of Gloversvllle and the bride's brother, Robert Dopp of Palatine Bridge.
   The bride was becomingly gowned in a blue and beige robe de style, black pumps and carried pink tea roses. Miss Zapp was gowned in a black and white robe de style, black pumps and carried pale yellow carnations. The bride's mother wore a brown ensemble with slippers to match and the bridegroom's mother wore a green ensemble with black slippers. The bride's gift to her attendant was a silver vanity case, and the bridegroom's gift to the best man was a sliver cigaret lighter.
   After the ceremony, which was performed under the arch of the parlor, attractively decorated in pink and white, the guests assembled in the dining room, also decorated in pink and white, where a bounteous dinner was served by Mrs. C Loop of Canajoharie. Both the bride and her parents were the recipients of many gifts.
   After the bridal reception, just before leaving, the bride tossed her bouquet from the stairs and it was canght by the bride's sister, Miss Enid E. Dopp of Palatine Bridge.
   The wedding came as a complete surprise to the many friends of the couple, both in Johnstown and Canajoharie. Miss Dopp was popular among the younger set of Canajoharie, having attended the Canajoharie High school while her husband is well known in Johnstown and Canajoharie. At present. Mr. lenders is employed in the Johnstown Post Office. The couple will be at home to their friends at the bridegroom's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Landers, 86 Yost street Johnstown.
   Among the out-of-town guests present were Mr. and Mrs. Charles Landers, Mr. and Mrs. Ora Spateholts and family, Mr. and Mrs. C. Brockmyer of Johnstown; Mr. and Mrs. C. Colts of Amsterdam; Mrs. Stella Dopp and Mrs. Herman Vesper of Canajoharie; Adolph Generous of New York city and Russell Meyers of Rome.
