Clarence Theodore Walker of Saline, Kansas, who has been visiting his son, Donald W. Walker and family of Albany, is spending two weeks with his cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bennett and other relatives in this vicinity. He is the nephew of the late Edward N. Walker and also the late Charles and Stephen LaRowe. Mr. Walker's father was Francis Walker, who left Union Springs, Cayuga Co. 71 years ago, and was a pioneer settler from New York state to Shenendoah, Iowa, thence to Kansas, in a covered wagon. He is the father of 11 children. His son, whom he visited in Albany has just been transferred from the west to Albany where he is the Executive Secretary of the New York State Telephone Association.

C. Theo. Walker
Clarence Theodore Walker, son of the late Francis M. and Mary E. Walker was bom September 3, 1869 in Aurora, N. Y., and passed away Wednesday, February 4, while in the Western Union office in Salina at the agre of 78 years, 5 months and 1 day. Death was attribued to an acute heart attack.
When he was four years of age he moved with his family to Page county, Ia., locating near Shenandoah, where he completed his elementary education. In 1886, the family again moved westward by covered wagon locating in Republic county. He with his younger brother, Mart, organized a threshing crew that worked over a large area of central Kansas.
He Was married to Laura Tinkler at Gypsum on February 22, 1899. Four children were born to this union. The Walker's operated a general store in Gypsum for several years before moving to Salina, where he made his home until the time of his death.
Mr. Walker was a member of the First Methodist church and regular attendant at all services. He followed the carpenters trade during the nineties and built many buildings in and near Belleville. He built the original house, now known as the Vance apartments for his bride, where they made there home while in Belleville.
Mrs. Walker preceded him in death, May 8, 1942 and their only daughter died February 3, 1928. His eldest grandson was killed in the battle of Saipan.
Survivors are: three sons, Francis of Salina, Donald of Dlifton Springs, N.Y., and Eldon of Locanada, Cal.; one grandson, Johnny and two grandaughters, Sally and Jacqueline; four sisters, Mrs. Georgee Whigham, Kissimmee, Fla., Mrs. Arthur Hensleigh, Gravity, Ia., Mrs. Wallace Kilmer, Hutchinson and Mrs. Ross Swenson, Belleville; on brother, Charles, Council Bluffs, Ia.; a host of friends. Mrs. S. A. Hartley, Mrs. John Miller and Mrs. Leonard Rightmeier and nieces and Roy and Harry Ferguson are nephews.
Funeral services were held at the Salina Funeral home, Salina, conducted by the Rev. W. O. Mulvaney, pastor of the First Methodist church. Intermenr was in Gypsum cemetery.

Francis Martin Walker, second son of Francis Martin and Mary Elizabeth Walker was born October 29, 1871 at Aurora, N.Y., and passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Merle Hoyles at Ingram, Tex., on November 19, 1946, at the age of 75 years and 20 days.
When he was two years of age his parents moved from new York State to Page County, Ia., where they lived until the spring of 1886, then moving overland by covered wagon to Republic county location near Belleville. He spent most of his life in this vicinity, moving to Texas after his retirement from 38 years of service with the Rock Island railroad.
He was united in marriage to Sophia Heintz at Junction City, Kans., on October 30, 1901, and to this union on daughter, Eva Nettie was born.
Sophia died September 2, 1909. He was married to Olive Trudell at Belleville, October 10. 1911, and one daughter, Virginia Mae, was born to this union.
He was a member of the Presbyterian church of Kerrville, Tex. He was a devoted husband and father. The greatest happiness of his life was that time spent in service for others.
He leaves to mourn his passing his widow, two daughters, Mrs. Cliff M. Younkin, Alliance, Nebr.; and Mrs. Merle Boyles, Ingram, Tex.; five grandchildren, Mrs. J.E. Stiggs, Walker and Carol Younklin, Jerre and Keith Boyles. Also surviving are two brothers, C. Theodore of Salina, and Charles L. of Council Bluffs, Ia.; four sisters, Mrs. G.A. Whigham of Blanchard, Ia., Mrs. A.G. Hensleigh of Gravity, Ia., Mrs. Wallace Kilmer of Hutchinson, Kans., and Mrs. Ross Swenson of Belleville and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, November 23 at the Bachelor-Faulkner chapel. The Rev. Stephen Yemm officiated. interment was in Belleville cemetery.)

MRS. F. M. WALKER
Sophie M. Heintz was born in Hamburg, Germany August 6, 1880 and died this morning September 2, 10 o'clock. She was married to Martin F. Walker in Junction City, Kansas, Oct. 30, 1901.
Mrs. Walker was a faithful Christian and was a member of Knights and Ladies Security Lodge.
She leaves a husband and one little daughter 4 years old, two brothers and five sisters to mourn her departure.
Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church Saturday morning at 10 o'clock. The sympathy of the entire community is extended to them in their sad bereavement.

Miss Sofa Hentz of Eastern Geary and Mr. Francis M. Walker of Belleville were married last evening at nine o'clock at the Morris home on Eighth street. The wedding, which was a very quite affair, only members of the family being present, was preformed by Rev. Bolton of the Congregational church.
The bride's gown was of a soft brown material with trimmings of pink silk.
The house decorations were of cut flowers and autumn foliage. After the ceremony an informal reception was held. On next Saturday a large wedding reception will be given for Mr. and Mrs. Walker at the home of the bride's mother, Mrs. H. Hentz, in Eastern Geary.
For the present Mr. and Mrs. Walker will be at home to their friends at Mr. Morris' residence on Eighth street.

Olive F. Walker, daughter of Court A. and Julia Mae Trudell, was born September 30, 1880, near Clay Center, Kan., and died August 13, 1951, at St. Joseph hospital, Alliance, Neb., at the age of 70 years, 10 months and 13 days. Death followed a brief illness.
Olive grew to womanhood at Clay Center, and after leaving there retained an interest in the city, returning often for visits.
On October 10, 1911, Olive Trudell and Martin F. Walker of Belleville were united in marriage. To this union one daughter was born, Mrs. John F. Watson of Alameda, Cal.
Mr. Walker died some time ago. For the past two years Mrs. Walker had been making her home in Bethany, Mo., and she became ill while vising relatives in Nebraska.
After being a life-time member of the Presbyterian church, Mrs. Walker united by letter with the First Christian church at Bethany. She was a member of the Eastern Star chapter at Belleville.
Mrs. Walker was a woman of many fine qualities. Her unfaltering faith sustained her in bearing the trials of life with great fortitude; always retaining her kindly ways and sunny disposition. A kind and loving wife and mother and a true friend, she will be greatly missed by her loved ones and many friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. John T. Watson of Alameda, Cal.; a step-daughter, Mrs. C.M. Younkin of Newark, Neb.; two brothers, Ross W. Trudell of St. Ignatius, Mont., Court A. Trudell of Bethany, Mo.; two sisters, Mrs. Maynard Thomas of Herington and Mrs. E.J. Younkin of Kirksville, Mo.; five grandchildren, other relatives and many friends. She was a sister-in-law of Mrs. Ross Swenson of Belleville.
Funeral services were held Friday afternoon, August 17, at 2 o'clock at Peterson-Neill chapel in Clay Center, with the Rev. William L. Tillman of the First Presbyterian church officiating. Burial was made in Greenwood cemetery.

A pretty October wedding occured at athe home of Mrs. C. E. Brown in Belleville, Kan., when Martin Walker of this city and Olive Trudell of Belleville were married by Rev. H. C. Duckett of the Presbyterin church. The groom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. F. M. Walker of Belleville, but for the last four or five years has been employed as a locomotive fireman and engineer on the Rock Island out of Fairbury. They will reside here.

Mrs. Frank Ferguson
Maude Avis Walker was born in Page county, Ia., in 1873, daughter of Francis M. and Mary Walker, and died at her home October 17, at the age of 63 years, 10 months, and 10 days. Her early childhood was spent in Page county.
In 1886 she moved to Belleville and completed her school work.
She was married to Frank A. Ferguson, May 22, 1893. To this union were born eight children, all of whom are living. They are, Frank of Rockville Center, N. Y., Mrs. Mildred Hammond of Canon City, Colo., Mrs. Nina Thomas, Mrs. Mary Harden, Mrs. Emily Rightmeier, Miss Lucille Ferguson, Roy and Harry, all of Belleville; She is also survived by her husband ; ten grandchildten; four sisters, Mrs. George Whylam, Mrs. Arthur Hensleigh, of Blahchard, Mrs. Wallace Kilmer of Hutchingson, and Mrs. Ross Swenson of Belleville; and three brothers, Theo Walker of Salina, Martin Walker of Fairbury, and Charles Walker of Council Bluffs, la.
The first year of her married life was spent in Belleville, then they lived in Blanchard, Ia., for ten years and returned to Belleville where she lived the rest of her life.
When a young woman she united with the Christian church in Belleville and has always remained an active member. she was also a member of Ophel chapter, Order of Eastern Star of Belleville, the american Legion Auxillary and Woman's Relief Corps.
In the church and all othe organizations of which she was a member she found the way of expressing her life in helpfulness and cheer.
The funeral services were conducted from the Christian church in Belleville by the minister, P. O. Davis, on Wednesday and interment was made in the Belleville cemetery.

Christian C. Thomas, 66, Belleville photographer who had a wide acquaintance in this area, died Tuesday afternoon at St. Joseph hospital in Concordia. He had been in ill health for several years.
A resident of this community 41 years, Mr. Thomas had worked in photography since 1909. He purchased the studio here in 1917 and since then Thomas Studio has gained wide reputation for its work, particularly in school photography.
Preceded in death by his wife, Nina Ferguson Thomas, in 1943, C. C. Thomas is survived by his mother, Mrs. Ida Thomas; one brother, Dr. H. D. Thomas; one niece and two nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 Friday morning at First Presbyterian church in Belleville, conducted by the Rev. Stephen Yemm. Masonic services will be held at the graveside in Belleville cemetery.

Lucille Maude Ferguson Hartley was bom February 14, 1902, in Blanchard, Iowa, to Frank and Maude Ferguson and died at the Long Term Care Unit in Belleville on December 16,1984, at the age of 82 years, 10 months and two days.
The family moved to Belleville when she was a small child. She received her education in the Bellevillle public schools.
On January 21,1939, she was united in marriage to Arthur Allen Hartley.
They were owners of the Meridian Transit Bus Lines.
She was a housewife, member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Past Presidents Parley and Order of Eastern Star, Belleville.
She was preceded in death by sisters: Nina Thomas, Emily Rightmeier, Mildred Hammand and Mary Miller; brothers; Frank and Roy (Mike).
She is survived by a brother, Harry Ferguson of Belleville; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held December 20, from Tibbetts Bros. Chapel, Belleville, with Rev. James Graves officiating. Burinl was in Belleville Cemetery.

Mary Celestia Whigham, daughter of the late Mary E. and Francis M. Walker, was born at Walkerville, Ia., June 21, 1877, and died in Clarinda, Ia., February 16, 1959 at the age of 81 years, seven months and 25 days.
When she was nine years of age she moved with her parents to Republic County. After completing her education in the Belleville schools she operated a millinery store in Republic City.
On January 1, 1900, she was united in marriage at her home in Belleville to George A. Whigham of Blanchard, Ia. They established their home on a farm in Page County, Ia., and continued to live in that community with the exception of a period of 20 years spent in Florida after retiring from the farm.
Early in life she was baptized in the Christian church in Belleville, later transferring her membership to the United Presbyteran Church of College Springs, Ia. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, three sisters and one grandson.
She leaves to mourn her passing, her husband, six children, Maurice, Clarence, Charles and Mrs. Gladys Manes of Blanchard, Ia., Mrs. Mabel Kenagy of Afton, Ia. and Mrs. Maxine Cockran of Denver, Colo., 27 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, three sisters, Mrs. Ella Hensleigh of Coin, Ia., Mrs. Bessie Kilmer of Hutchinson, Kan., and Mrs. Mabel Swenson of Belleville, many nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Memorial services were held in the United Presbyterian Church of College Springs, Ia., with the Pastor of that church officiating. Interment was in the Blanchard cemetery on February 19.

The bride was attired in a traveling dress of blue, with white satin vest. The groom wore the conventional black. They were the recipients of many handsome presents.
Miss Walker has been a resident of Belleville for several years and is loved and esteemed by all who know her. Mr. Whigham is a highly respected and well-to-do young farmer of Blanchard, Iowa, where they will make their future home. The best wishes of many friends go with them in their journey through life.

Ella Marian Walker, daughter of the late Francis M. and Mary B. Walker, was born at Northboro, Ia., September 9, 1882, and died at the Municipal Hospital, Clarinda, Ia., January 8, 1960, at the age of 77 years, three months and 29 days.
When she was four years of age her parents moved to Kansas locating near Belleville, later moving to Belleville where she received her education and on February 22, 1901, was united in marriage to Arthur G. Hensleigh of Blanchard, Ia. They located on a farm near Blanchard and maintained their home in that area until they retired from the farm in 1950 ahd moved to Coin where she resided until her death.
Three daughter's were born to this union, Mrs. Leone Christensen of Red Cloud, Neb., Mrs. John Hill of College Springs, Ia., and Mrs. Bessie Schoolfield who died in 1928 leaving a small son, who at the age of eight came to live with his grandparents in 1934.
Early in life she was baptized in the Christian Church of Belleville, later transferring her membership to the Christian Church of Blanchard, Ia. She was a 4-H Leader in Page county for approximately 15 years. After moving to Coin as long as her health permitted she was active in the Coin Culture Club, and the W.S.C.S. of the Methodist Church.
She leaves to mourn her passing; her husband, and two daughters Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Christensen, their children, Russell of Chicago, Carol of Phelps, N.Y., Harold of Fremonr, Neb. and Dorothy of Lincoln, Neb., and Mr. and Mrs. Hill and their children, Arthur of --- Cal., and Mrs. Alice Paul of Council Bluffs, Mo., [illegable].

Broken Bow, Neb., Mar. 11, (Special) — Mrs. Estella Everett, 45 years old of Broken Bow, the widow of the late E. O. Everett died suddenly here Friday afternoon death resulting from a heart attack.
She had been ill for some time suffering with heart trouble and had driven her car to the hospital to receive medical treatment and died just as she drove in front of the hospital.
Surviving her are three daughters, Mrs. Ralph Jackson, Casper, Wyoming, Mrs. Wilmer Linder, Junction, City Kansas, and Mrs. L. L. Read of Broken Bow, and one son, Ernest of Broken Bow, Funeral arrangements have not been completed.

Iva M. Walker, 2452 N. Broadway, died Monday evening at her residence, following a long illness. She was 88.
Born at Belleville, Kan., she had resided heree since 1917, Her husband, Charles L., died in 1954. She was a retired sales clerk for Kilpatricks in Omaha and was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Cutler Chapel with the Rev. John gill, pastor of Westminster Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Cemetery.

A very pretty home wedding took place Wednesday morning at the James Van Aiken home when their daughter, Miss Iva, was united in marriage with Mr. Chas. Walker.
The wedding plans were quite simple, however especially pretty in every deail. The living rooms were the ceremony was read, was profusely decorated in pink and white roses, ferns and foliage. Promptly at 9:30 the bride entered, unattended, on the arm of her fiance, to the strains of "Lohengrin" played by the groom's sister, Miss Mabel Walker, who also played "Humeresque" during the reading of the ceremony by Rev. Borton, pastor of the Methodist church.
The bride is a very pretty young lady and looked especially attractive in her wedding gown of turquoise blue chiffon taffeta with touches of gold braid and buttons.
Miss Van Aiken is truly a Belleville girl, having spent her girlhood days in this city. Mr. Walker also is a Belleville boy, having grown to manhood here. He has been employed with the American Express Company for the past several years, and is a young man of splendid ability and character. At present his headquarters are at Lincoln, where he has a pretty cottage in readiness for his bride.
Only the near relatives of the bride and groom witnessed the ceremony. Immediately after the ceremony luncheon was served and shortly after, Mr. and Mrs. Walker departed for their new home, leaving on Rock Island train No. 6.

A former resident of Belleville, Bessie Ethel Walker, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Francis M. and Mary E. Walker was born June 5, 1891 and died at the Good Samaritan Home, Hutchinson after a week residency February 18, 1975 at the age of 83 years.
She received her education in the Belleville schools and was assistant bookkeeper at the Austin-Hollandsworth Mercantile Company for several years.
She was married to Wallace Kilmer of Gypsum June 9, 1915. Four children were born. She was preceded in death by her husband, a son. Max, a daughter, Roberta Mae, her parents, four brothers, Theodore, Edward, Martin and Charles, five sisters, Mrs. Frank (Maude) Ferguson, Mrs. G. A. (Lettie) Whigham, Mrs. A. G. (Ella) Hemsleigh, Mrs. Ed (Essie)Wheeler, Mrs. E. O. (Amanda) Everett.
She is survived by one son. Marc of Wichita, one daughter, Mrs. Fred (Alice) Finfrock, Hutchinson, one sister, Mrs. Ross (Mabel) Swenson, Belleville, seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
Memorial services were held at Johnson and Sons Memorial Chapel Saturday, February 22, 1975 10:30 a.m. with Reverand Charles M. Pomeroy of First Baptist church officiating. Interment was in Fairlawn cemetery, Hutchinson.

Miss Walker is truly a Belleville girl, having spent her girlhood days in this city. She has been with the Austin-Hollandsworth store as assistant cashier for four years and is a valued employee.
Mr. Kilmer has become quite well acquainted in Belleville and is a young man of splendid ability and character. He is in the garage business in Gypsum where he will take his bride for her future home, having a pretty cottage in readiness. They will leave for their home immediately and will make the trip in Mr. Kilmer's car.
The bride will only have her relatives and most intimate friends as her guests this evening and after the ceremony a two course luncheon will be served. The dining room will be attractive with quantities of pink and white hearts and spring blossoms. The bridal table will hold a bowl of roses, and hearts *** also find a conspicous place. Misses Maude Tucker, and Iva Van Aiken, Adelaide McCure and Nina Ferguson will assist in the dining room.

Mrs. Mabel Swenson of Topeka, a former Belleville resident, was born September 28,1895, at Belleville, daugter of Francis M. and Mary Elizabeth Larowe Walker, and died November 26,1983, in a Topeka nursing home. She was 88.
She lived in rural Belleville until 1944 when she and her husband moved to Belleville. Mrs. Swenson was postmaster at Belleville from 1944 to 1948. She moved to Topeka three years ago.
She married Ross Greeley Swenson August 1, 1917, at Coin, Iowa. He died in 1979.
She was a member of the Central Christian Church, Ophel Chapter Order of the Eastern Star where she was a life member, past matron and former secretary; past president of the Beauceant Society at Concordia; mother adviser to the Rainbow Girls and a member of the John Haupt Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution in Topeka.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two sons; Russell and Victor Eugene. She is survived by two sons: Jack Leland Swenson of Manhattan, and R.G. "Swede" Swenson, Topeka; seven grandchildren and nine great- grandchildren.
Funeral services were held November 29 at the Central Christian Church in Belleville. Burial was in Belleville Cemetery.

Ross G. Swenson, son of John A. and Jennie Arbuthnot Swenson, was born August 2, 1893, on the family farm in Freedom Township, Republic County, Kans., and died February 2, 1979 in Belleville, Kans., at the age of 85 years and 7 months.
He attended school at the Willow Dale School in Republic County and completed the ninth grade at Belleville High School.
He was united in marriage to Mabel Walker August 1,1917, at Coin, Iowa and to this union four children were born. They lived on the family farm until moving to Belleville.
He was a 50-year member of Belleville Lodge No. 129, AF & AM (Past Master), RAM, No. 69, Concordia Commandery No. 42, Order of Eastern Star, Ophel chapter, No. 115, Isis Shrine of Salina, Past President of the Kiwanis Club, and a member of the Central Christian Church. He served as Republic County Democratic Chairman from 1938 to 1976, Democratic State Treasurer during the 1950's and served as a member of the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board of Review for eight years under Governor Robert Docking.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, six brothers and two sons.
Survivors include: his wife; two sons, Jack of Manhattan, R.G. "Swese" Swenson of Topekia; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, Feburary 5 at 11:00 a.m. at the Central Christian Church conducted by the minister, Lon Hardy. Masonic services were conducted by Belleville Lodge No 129, AF & AM. Interment was in Belleville cemetery.

The house was beautifully decorated and bowls of sweet peas added much to the charm of the occasion. The bride is the youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. M. Walker of this city and is a fine young lady. She wore a beautiful dress of white crepe-de-chene trimmed in silk lace and pearls. Mrs. Charles Walker of Lincoln, Nebr., a sister-in-law of the bride played Lohengrin's wedding march.
Mr. Swenson is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Swenson highly respected and well known people of this county. He is a splendid, honest, hard working young man and a successful farmer.
A three course dinner was served by Miss Leone Hensleigh and Miss Nina Ferguson, both neices of the bride. The guests present were only the relatives.
