Origin E. Sabin, one or Norwich's best known contractors and builders, died at 3:50 Thursday morning at the cottage of his son, Murray O. Sabin, Chenango Lake, where he had been staying for the past three weeks. A complication of diseases caused his death after an illness of more than a year's duration.
Born in Plymouth, July 29, 1861, the deceased when a young man went west with his parents, living in Missouri and Illinois. Mr. Sabin's father passed away while the family lived in the west and the mother returned to Madison County, living in Eaton, and Oneida. Mr. Sabin had been a resident of Norwich, however, for 38 years, during which time he followed the occupation of contractor and builder.
Mr. Sabin was well known to the residents and building trades of this city, for he has probably constructed as many houses in Norwich as any one of the local contractors. Upwards of more than 100 houses have been erected in Norwich by Mr. Sabin.
The only organization of which Mr. Sabin was a member was the Norwich lodge of Elks, he having been associated with the local lodge almost since its institution. He attended Calvary Baptist church when health permitted. He was perhaps best known as a builder, and there are scores of homes in this city which will ever stand as a monument to his skill as a contractor.
There survive the widow, one daughter, Mrs. Nellie C. Fielding, and a son, Murray O. Sabin; one grandson and a great-grandson; also a brother, Charles Sabin of Eaton, and a sister, Mrs. Mildred Towner of Washington, D. C.

- Obituary (Find A Grave / Norwich, NY, Local History Notes)
Norwich [Chenango Co., NY]: Miss Lula L. Sabin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Orra E. Sabin, died at her home on East Main street Sunday night last from Pleuro-pneumonia contracted about two weeks before.
Miss Sabin was born in the town of Eaton, Madison county, September 25, 1884, but had resided in Norwich for the past 15 years. She was a member of the class of 1902 in the Norwich High School and after her graduation, at once entered upon the responsible position of forelady in the quilling department and bookkeeper in the Norwich Silk Mills.
She was an attractive young woman and thought modest and unassuming always carried an air of good cheer wherever she went. She had shown rare musical ability, being at the time of her fatal sickness a member of the Norwich Singer's Club and one of the leading sopranos in the choir of the Calvary Baptist church. For several years she had been active in various branches of Christian work of that day school and Philathea Bible study class and of the Y.P.S.C.E., holding for some time the office of pianist.
Besides her parents, she is survived by a brother, Murray Sabin, and a sister, Mrs. A.F. Fielding, of Norwich. Her funeral was held Wednesday afternoon form the house at 1:30 o'clock and from Calvary Church at 2 o'clock, Rev. Spencer J. Ford officiating. The Philatheas attended in a body. The floral offerings were many and very beautiful. Interment was made in Mount Hope cemetery.
