Mildred Irene Burt Moore
Weiser
Mildred ‘Mike’ Irene Burt Moore slipped peacefully out of this world and into the waiting arms of her beloved husband Carl in the early morning of April 13. She was attended by several members of her loving family at the time of her passing.
Mike was born in her grandparent’s home in Fruitvale, Idaho, the third of six children. She loved her rural upbringing and being part of a large family. She graduated from Council High School in 1946. It was about this time that Carl Moore first saw her, walking in Council. He told a friend: “I’m going to marry her someday.” Luckily for Carl he was a dashing young sailor, and she was taken with him as well. They married in Weiser in September, 1946. Carl and Mike were happy, hard working, and adventurous throughout their life together. They told stories of Carl flying their plane to visit her family in Fruitvale, and they would buzz the house to let her folks know to come pick them up at the airport. Their biggest adventure, though, was definitely their family. They had four children: Rick (Laurie), Randy (Jane), Carla (Tony), and Russ (Julie). This naturally led to “the treasures of a long life” grandchildren, Rik, Cahn, Mira, Justin, Jessica, Jenny, Caleb, Mandy, Nichole, and Katy. Mike and Carl moved to Weiser in 1970. She started working for the City of Weiser in 1973. By 1977 she was Sr. Billing Clerk. The city soon got one of those new computer systems and Mike jumped right in and mastered this new technology with ease. In December of 1986 she was appointed as City Clerk of Weiser. She was proud to serve as City Clerk and did a magnificent job until she retired in June of 1991. Mike loved her family more than anything, and in her later years, was especially thrilled by the visit of any of her great-grandchildren: Peyton, Kylie, Bodhi, Aeon, Lindsey, Mason, Kelton, Kaden, Maggie, and Rayce. Though the youngest, Aeon, never got to meet GG, she of course received one of Mike’s beautifully handmade baby blankets, and Aeon’s pictures were proudly displayed.Mike was a wonderful cook and taught at least one daughter-in-law how to can tomatoes. She was also a talented quilter and made beautifully embroidered items. Mike was proud of the many ribbons she won for her handiwork at different county fairs. She was a warm, loving woman who made friends with practically everyone she met. She should have had a revolving door to her apartment in Weiser as there were people coming and going all day long. She greeted everyone with a warm smile, a cheerful hello and an invitation to sit and visit. She will be fondly remembered by her friends and family and is already sorely missed. The family would like to especially thank Dr. Wootton, Dr. Hubele, Dr. Bruce, and the entire Critical Care Unit Team at St. Alphonsus Medical Center in Ontario for the exceptional care they provided during Mike’s recent hospital stay. We are so grateful to each of you for easing her discomfort.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, April 21, at 1 p.m. at Hillcrest Cemetery in Weiser. Mike loved bright beautiful colors. In her honor, please feel free to wear bright colors to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to Rose Advocates, Love INC, The American Lung Association, or a charity of your choice.
