"J. Ford Ralston- Washta- J. Ford Ralston, 81, died at 1 a.m. Saturday in Cherokee following a seven-month illness. He made his home on a farm in Grand Meadow Township and had lived in the Washta community since 1917 where he farmed.
"Born on Nov. 12, 1888 in Vail, he married Belle Hunter at Washta on Dec. 25, 1918. He was a member of Washta United Methodist Church, Washta Masonic Lodge, Washta Order of Eastern Star, was Active in soil conservation work and served for a number of years as County Supervisor.
"Survivors are his wife; two daughters, Mrs. C. J. (Ella) Barwick of Pierson and Mrs. Dale (Emma) Trapp of Washta; seven grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; two sisters, Mrs. Loyd (Mary) Burns of Washta and Mrs. George (Viola) Sutton of Marcus.
"Preceding him in death were his parents, three brothers, one sister and one grandson.
"Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday from the Washta Methodist Church with Rev. Melvin Reth officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery in Sioux City. Boothby Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
