 - Obituary (The Otsego Farmer, Cooperstown, NY, Thursday, July 21, 1960)
  Karl.-W. Brown, aged 72, former resident of the Ricfield Springs area, died July 15 in Faxton Hospital in Utica after a long illness.
   He was born March 28, 1888, in Fly Creek, the son of William and Katherine (Matthews) Brown. He attended school in Fly Creek. He married Bertha Atkins of Richfield Springs in th ePresbyterian parsonage, after which, they made their home in Fly Creek, where he was employed in construction work. Mrs. Brown died November 8, 1928. Mr. Brown had since made his home in Utica where he was employed in the Masonic Home.
  He attended Fly Creek Methodist Church.
  Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Harry Llewellyn and Mrs. Charles Crist, both of Richfield Springs, and Mrs. Joseph Peplinski of Fly Creek; one son, Karl, Jr. of Richfield Springs; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
   Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Monday in Richfield Springs, with the Rev. William A. Highfield, pastor of Fly Creek Methodist Church, officiating. Burial was in Fly Creek Cemetery.

Marriage Notes for Karl William Brown and Mary Vertucci

 - Wedding Announcment (The Otsego Farmer, Cooperstown, NY, Friday, May 10, 1946)
  The marriage of Miss Mary Vertucci, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Antoni C. Vertucci of this village, and Karl W. Brown, Jr., son of Karl W. Brown of Warren, was solemnized in St. Joseph's church on May 4th at 9 a. m. The Rev. Arthur J. Kelly, pastor, celebrated the nuptial mass and rings were exchanged by the contracting couple. Mrs. Raymond G. Ehrmann presided at the organ and soloists were Miss Theresa Vertucci and Joseph Famulare.
  The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of white French satin en, train, fashioned with a basque bodice with sweetheart neckline. Her full length veil of silk net edged with imported lace was caught in a crown of seed pearls. She carried an arm bouquet of white roses and sweet peas. Her only jewelry was a Mother of pearl locket, a gift from the groom.
  Miss Rose Vertucci, sister of the bride, was maid of honor and wore teal blue satin and net with Juliet cap and veil and she carried spring flowers. Mrs. Anthony Vertucci was matron of honor and her gown was of rose taffeta and net and like all of the other attendants, she wore a Juliet cap and veil and carried, spring flowers. The bridesmaids were, the Misses Elizabeth and Grace Vertucci, Miss Angelina Agresti and Mrs. Bernard; Jastremski. They were attired in taffeta and net dresses of pastel shades with matching caps and veil and they also carried spring flowers.
  Joseph Vertucci, brother of the bride was best man, and the ushers were Anthony. Vertucci, James Brady, Arthur Brady, Alex Filak and Bernard Jastremski.
   The bride's mother wore an ensemble of black and white with a corsage of red roses and sweet peas. A wedding, breakfast was served at the home of the bride followed by a reception  for two hundred guests. Teabout served.
  The bride is a graduate of the Richfield Springs Central school arid the groom has received his honorable discharge from the armed services and is now employed at the. Snyder Bicycle factory in Little Falls.
  Mrs. Brown chose for her going away costume an ensemble of brown and white with turquoise accessories and a corsage of yellow roses.
  They are now on a trip in New England and Canada and will later live in the town of Warren.
  Guests were present from Washington, New Jersey, Cooperstown, Waterville, Utica, Sidney and Ilion.
  Pre-nuptial parties were given by the bride's family, Mrs. Bernard Jastremski, the bride's co-workers, Mrs. Anthony Vertucci and Miss Angelina Agresti.

  ILION - Roy A Gage, 82 of 123 Barringer Rd., died Tuesday, October 7, 1980.
  He was born on June 10, 1898, in Columbia Center the son of Charles and Maggie Spohn Gage and attended Columbia Center Schools. He was married to Iva M. Reed on December 30, 1922 in Mohawk, she died.January 13, 1976 Mr. Gage owned and operated Gage's Dairy, Jack's Esso Station, William's Market and the Ford Gum Ball Machine Company. Mr. Gage was an active member ot the North Columbia Methodist Church, its Church Board and the Higher Trail Class he was alson caretaker of the NorthCotumbia Cemetery and former member of the Ilion Kiwanis Club.
  Survivors include, one son. Robert Gage of Ilion; one sister. Mrs. Martha House of Ilion RD; nine grandchildren; nind great-grandchildren; several neices and nephews and cousins. His twin brother, Ray E. Gage died June 26, 1980.
  Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. friday at the North Columbia Methodist Church, Interment at Mohawk Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday 7-9 and Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 at the Applegate Funeral Home, Ilion.

   He was born June 10,1899, the son of Charles and Maggie Spohn Gage. He was married to Bertha Helmer on September 8, 1920 in North Columbia. For most of his life Mr. Gage operated his own farm. He attended the Methodist Church and was a member of the Mohawk Masonic Lodge, 276; the Iroquois Chapter Royal Arch Masons #236.
   Survivors include his wife; one son, Raymond of Mohawk; one sister, Mrs Martha House of Columbia Center; one brother, Roy Gage of Ilion; six grandchildren; one niece; one nephew and several cousins.
  Funeral services will be Sunday at 1 p.m. from the Applagate Funeral home. Ilion, with interment in Columbia Reformed Church Cemetery. Calling hours are Saturday 1-4 and 7-9.

   Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Raymond and Katherine Gage of Mohawk, R.D. #1; a sister, Mrs. Evalina Pett of Ilion R.D.; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two nephews; two nieces and two cousins.  
   Funeral services will be held l p.m. Friday at the Applegate Funeral Home. Calling hours are Thursday 2-4 and 7-9.
