  PALATINE BRIDGE- -Mr. and Mrs. Mortimer Weaver, Palatine Bridge RD. were, honored on their 30th wedding anniversary recently during a surprise open house celebration with 60 persons attending.
  The observance was Arranged by their children, Mrs. Roy Simpson, Palaitine Bridge, RD.; Mrs. Robert Handy, Palatine Bridge; Charles, Melvin, Stanton, Florence and Linda, all at home.
  The former Albertina Blakealee, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Blakeslee, and Mortimer Weaver, son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Weaver, all of Stone Arabia, were married June 13, 1923 a t the parsonage of the St Johnsville Lutheran church by the pastor, the Rev. George Kling. Their attendants were Mr. and Mrs. George Blakcalee, brother and sister-in-law of the bride.

  PALATINE BRIDGE - Mrs. Albertina M. Weaver, 55, died yesterday morning at the Albany Medical Center, Albany, following an illness of eight months.
  Mrs. Weaver was born, May 23, 1907, in the Town of Florida, the daughter of Henry and Eva Green Blakeslee. She married Mortimer Weaver on June 13, 1925. She was formerly employed at Beech-Nut Life Savers Inc., retiring in 1946.
  She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Stone Arabia; Ladies Aid Society of the church; Palatine Union Grange; assistant leader of the Busy Bees Club, McKinley.
  Mrs. Weaver is survived by her husband, Palatine Bridge R.D.; four daughters, Mrs. Arthur Simpson, Palatine R.D.; Mrs. Robert Handy, Palatine Bridge; Mrs. Peter Christoph, St. Johnsville; Miss Linda Weaver, Palatine R.D.; three sons, Charles, Greensboro, N.C., Melvin, Marshville and Stanton, a Staff Sgt. at Itazuki Air Base, Japan; four brothers, Ostrom Blakeslee, Palatine R.D.; George Blakeslee, Ephratha, Manley Blakeslee, and Melvin Blakeslee, both of Johnstown; five sisters, Mrs. Raymond Taylor, Newville, Mrs. Raymond Weakley, Mariaville, Mrs. Robert Etherton, Palatine R.D., Mrs. Howard Billington, Rural Grove. Mrs. Edward Handy, Palatine R.D.; 15 grandchildren, neces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
  Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 at the Trinity Lutheran Church. Stone Arabia, with the Rev. Theodore E. Hammer, officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Fonda.
  Friends may call at the Houghtaling funeral home, Canajoharie, until Sunday noon.

  Mr. and Mrs. Mortimer Weaver, Town of Palatine, have announced the marriage of their daughter, Miss Mary Weaver, and Roy Simpson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Simpson, Saturday night, May 6, In the Trlnty Reformed Church, Stone Arabia. The Rev. Stanley Haverly, pastor of the church, performed the ceremony.
   The wedding music waa played by Mrs. Adln Van Wie and Miss Marilyn Mallett sang, "I Love You Truly," before the ceremony. The bride wore a gown of aquamarine crepe, a white hat with veil and carried a shower bouquet of white aweet peas. Her sister. Miss Charlotte Weaver, as maid of honor, wore a gold crepe gown, with matching hat and carried pink snapdragons. Kenneth Blakeslee, Johnstown, cousin of the bride, was best man.
  A reception at the home of the bride's parents in McKinley followed the ceremony. The bride is a graduate of the Canajoharie High School and is employed at the Beech-Nut plant here. After a wedding trip, Mr. and Mrs. Simpson will live on a farm In McKlnley

  STONE ARABIA, Feb. 6.—Miss Charlotte M. Weaver, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mortimer Weaver, Stone Arabia, was married to Robert A Handy, son of Mr. and Mrs Earl Handy, Johnstown, at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the Trinity Lutheran Church in this village. The Rev. Stanley Haverly, pastor, performed the ceremony. The bride was given in marriage by her father.
  The bridesmaid was Miss Jennie Handy, sister of the bridegroom The matron of honor was Mrs. Roy Simpson, sister of the bride. Salvatore DelSavio of Gloversville, was best man, and the ushers were Roy Simpson and Robert Weaver, both of Stone Arabia.
   During the ceremony Mrs. Edith Kohn sang "I Love You Truly" and "O Promise Me." Mrs. Albert Kilts, Sr., accompanied at the organ.
  The bride wore white satin with sweetheart neckline and train, a fingertip veil with sweetheart crown, caught up with orange blossoms, and carried a bouquet of white carnations with sweet -pea streamers. Her train was carried by her sister and Miss Ambrldge, both girls dressed in pink satin.
   The bridesmaid's gown was aqua with matching accessories, and she carried a bouquet of pink carnations. The matron of honor wore pink, with matching headdress and carried pink carnations.
  The wedding was followed by a reception at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Bellinger, at which forty guests were present.
   The couple were presented with many gifts, and in turn presented gifts to their attendants.
  After a wedding trip, the couple will reside with the bride's parents for a short time.
  Handy was recently discharged from the armed forces, after three years service in both the Atlantic
and Pacific areas.
  Both Mr. and Mrs. Handy are employed at the Beech-Nut Packing Company, Canajoharie.
  Mr. Handy was best man at the wedding of his brother, Edward, to Miss Marguerite Blakeslee, of Stone Arabia, January 26, In the same church where Sunday's ceremony was performed.

  PALATINE BRIDGE - Miss Patricia Ann Hayes, daughter of Albert Hayes, Fonda, and the late Mrs. Mae Hayes, was united in marriage Saturday afternoon to Charles Robert Weaver, son of Mr. and Mrs. Mortimer Weaver, Palatine Bridge RD 1. The wedding was performed in the Canajoharie Reformed Church with the Rev. Earl Van Leeuwen. pastor, performing the double ring ceremony.
  The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of Schiffli embroidered tulle over taffeta with a fitted bodice, V-neckline, a full skirt with an overlay of Schiffli embroidered tulle ending in a chapel train. Her headpiece was. a crown of pearls and rhinestones from which fell her veil of imported French illusion. She carried a cascade bouquet of white roses and ivy with a pink rose corsage in the center.
  Miss Joan Hayes, Fonda, sister of the bride, served as maid of honor. She wore a gown of canary yellow lace and tulle over taffeta with a jacket of matching color and a summer picture hat of nylon organdy. She carried a bouquet of yellow roses and tiny blue flowers.
  Miss Collen Hayes. Fonda, sister of the bride; Miss Yvetta Hayes, Fultonville, cousin of the bride, and Mrs. Florence Christoph. Oneonta. sister of the bridegroom, were bridesmaids, dressed identical to the honor attendant in gowns of aqua.
  Serving as flower girls were Diana and Donna Handy, Palatine Bridge, twin nieces of the bridegroom.  Albert Hayes, Fonda, brother of the bride, was ring bearer.
  Serving as best, man was Stanton Weaver, Canajoharie. Ushering the guests were Larry Bellinger. Palatine Bridge, Peter Christoph, Oneonta. and Vincent Raneri, Johnstown.
  A recital of traditional wedding music was played by Mrs. William Mackenzie, Canajoharie, and Mrs. Evelyn North, Canajoharie, was soloist.
  The mother of the bridegroom wore a blue sheath dress with white accessories and a corsage of pink roses.
  Following the ceremony a reception was held at the Fort Rensselaer Club with nearly 200 guests attending.
  For her wedding trip to Cape Cod the bride chose a pink nylon dress with white accessories and a pink rose corsage. After July 12 the couple will be at home at South Perry St., Johnstown. The bride graduated from Canajoharie Central School. The bridegroom attended Canajoharie Central School and served three years with the Marines, seeing service in Korea. He is presently employed by the Lee Dye Co.. Johnstown.
  Pre-nuptial events were given the bride by Mrs. Mortimer Weaver and Mrs. Charles Hayes.

  Douglas M. Weaver, 12, son of Mr. and Mrs. Mortimer Weaver, Palatine Bridge, R.D. 1, died at 4:45 a.m., yesterday in the Amsterdam City Hospital following a brief illness.
  He was born May 4, 1942, in the, town of Palatine, the son of Mortimer and Albertina Blackeslee Weaver. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Stone Arabia
  Surviving besides his parents. are three brothers, Charles and Stanton, at home, and Sgt Melvin Weaver, Korea; four sisters, Mrs. Arthur Simpson, Palatine Bridge, R. D. 1; Florence and Linda, at home and Mrs. Robert Handy, Palatine Bridge.
  The body will be at the Houghtaling Funeral Home, Canajoharie, until noon Friday when it will be taken to the Trinity Lutheran Church, Stone Arabia, where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday. The Rev. Stanley Hadley, pastor of the church, will officiate, and bural will be in Sand Flat Cemetery.

  Ruth F. Frederick, 81, of Valley View Apartments, Palatine Bridge, died Sunday at Amsterdam Memorial Hospital after a short illness. Born in Hartford, Conn., on May 26, 1915, she was the daughter of Winfield
Flanigan and Elnora Failing. She graduated from Canajoharie High School and attended the Nathan Littauer Hospital School of Nursing. She was employed by various nursing homes in the area as a nurse and also did private duty nursing for many years before retiring.
  Mrs. Frederick was a lifelong area resident. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Stone Arabia. Mrs. Frederick was a former 4-H leader in the Montgomery County area. She was also a Sunday School teacher and a Vacation Bible School teacher at Trinity Lutheran Church.
  Her first husband, William N. Winsman, died June 15, 1956. Her second husband, Mortimer Weaver, died July 13, 1984. She married Frank Frederick Sr., on Oct. 21, 1989.
  Survivors, including her husband, are one son, Wayne N. Winsman of Palatine Bridge; one daughter, Rose Ann Matthews, of Broadalbin; seven step-daughters, Charlotte Handy of Canajoharie; Mary Simpson of Palatine Bridge; Florence Christoph of Selkirk; Lin Zubel of Phoenix, Ariz.; Dorothy Russ of Canajoharie; Hazel Lewis of Fort Plain; and Patricia Congdon of Mohawk; two stepsons, Charles Weaver of Greensboro, N.C., and Robert L. Frederick of Palatine Bridge; one brother, Richard S. Flanigan of Waterbury, Vermont; two sisters, Jean Wetherbee of Hillsboro, New Hampshire; and Fay Dollard of Groton, Conn.; three grandchildren, four greatgrandchildren; and several step-grandchildren and several step-greatgrandchildren.
  Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Route 10, Stone Arabia. The Rev. John Omans will officiate.
   Burial will take place in Fort Plain Cemetery.
  Calling hours are today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Chapel of Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, 20 Otsego St., Canajoharie.

  PALATINE — Mr. and Mrs. Ostrom Blakeslee, Brower Road, Town of Palatine, celebrated their 50 wedding anniversary this past weekend with an open house at the family home, given by their children.
  The former Sadie Weaver and Ostrom Blakeslee were married on Jan. 13,1927 at the parsonage of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Stone Arabia, by Rev. Stanley Haverly.
  Attending the couple were Mrs. Haverly and Mrs. Katherine Weakley.
  The couple has been residents of this area all their life, and both only recently retired.
  They have four children, Alfred, Hagaman; Mrs. Ruth Knaeck, Phoenix, Ariz.; Gordon and Keith, both of Palatine. They were also the parents of the late Manley Blakeslee also of Palatine.
  They have 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
  Attending the celebration were their daughter and her family from Arizona, and a large number of neighbors and friends.
  The couple cut a large tiered anniversary cake and received a large number of cards, gifts and
flowers.

  The bride was given in marriage by her father and wore a ballerina, length gown of white with a pink jacket of matching material. . Her bridal veil fell from a matching headpiece. She carried a bridal bouquet of white pompons and baby's breath.
  Mrs. Walter Pinkowskl, Palatine Bridge RD 1, sister of the bridegroom, served as matron of honor, wearing a light blue ballerina length silk dress with blue hat and veil.
  Raymond Weaver, Palatine Bridge R.D. 1, cousin of the bridegroom, was best man.
  The mother of the bride wore a dress of spring colors with harmonizing accessories and a corsage of white mums. The mother of the bridegroom wore a dress of aqua with-white accessories and a white
mum corsage.
   Following the ceremony a reception was held at the home of the bride's parents. The bride's table was decorated with a tiered wedding cake.
  For her wedding trip the bride chose a light blue two-piece suit with matching accessories. Upon returning from their trip the couple will reside temporarily at the home of-the bridegroom's parents.
  The bride attended Fort Plain Central School and is employed at the Clyde Bank Mills. Fort Plain.
   The bridegroom attended Canajoharie Central School and is on the family farm.

  Milton y. Miller, 67, of 7 Brandt Ave., Fort Johnson, died Sunday at Albany Veterans' Hospital where he had been a patient five months.
  An electrician. Mr. Miller was employed for 30 years by Crane & Nevins and five years by the Keeler Electric Co.
  He was born at St. Johnsville April 8, 1896. a son of James and Martha Weaver Miller, and was a veteran of World War I. having served with the 23rd Infantry in the Chateau Thierry, Marne and St. Mihiel offensives. He attended the First Baptist Church and was a member of IBEW, 166. He was a former member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
  Survivors include his wife, the former Isabelle A. Steele whom he married July 4. 1937. in St. Johnsville; one son. John A. Miller, Bridgeport. Conn; one daughter, Mrs. Martha M. Rettig.

  The bride, given in marriage by her grandfather, Charles Karker of Sharon Springs, was attired in a street length gown of white lace with a fitted bodice, a bouffant mint green chiffon skirt over taffetta, and a crown of white flowers with a shoulder length veil. She carried a cascade of pink roses and white carnations.
  Miss Bonnie Case of Johnstown was the bridal attendant and wore a gown of pink organza over satin with a cummerbund caught with a single rose and matching white accessories.
  Philip Smith of Fort Johnson Was best man.
  The grandmother of the bride wore a blue print nylon jersey, white hat and a corsage of varigated pink carnations. The mother of the bridegroom wore a blue and green silk print, black hat and a corsage of violets.
  A reception was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Leon Vrooman, 44 East 8th Ave., Gloversville, where the bride resided, after which the couple left on a wedding trip. For going away the bride wore a yellow dress, white accessories and a corsage of yellow roses and white carnations.
  Upon their return the couple will reside in Hagaman.
  The bride is a graduate of Broadalbin high school and is employed at the Johnstown Crescendoe Glove Co. The bridegroom is a graduate of Wilbur Lynch high school in Amsterdam and is employed at Empire Devices Inc.
   Attending the wedding from out of town were guests from Sharon Springs, St. Johnsville, Albany, Fort Johnson, Gloversville and Johnstown.
  The bride was honored at a recent shower at the Fort Johnson School with Mrs. Milton Miller, Miss Imogene Street, Mrs. Nash Steele, Mrs. Winslow Steele, Miss Bonnie Case, Mrs. Anthony Urban and Mrs. Alfred Morini as hostesses.

He states that she was party to an elopement which was being planned with another man of the South Side on November 9, 1918. When arraigned Nina was held for the action of the
grand Jury and was sent to Herkimer until she could provide the $1,000 bail which was set.

  Funeral of Mrs. Weakley
  Mrs. Edith Weakley, 39. wife of Ernest Weakley, died Wednesday evening in Amsterdam City Hospital following a long illness.
  She was born in the Town of Ephratah, Feb, 6. 1914, the daughter of Mortimer and Bertha Weaver Smith. A member of Fort Johnson Methodist Church, she had been a resident of Amsterdam for 16 years.
  Surviving besides her husband are three children, Shirley, Ernest and Ronald; four sisters, Mrs. Cora Satterly. Miss Laura Smith, Miss Ida Smith, Miss Elsie Smith, Town of Ephratah; three brothers, Lloyd Smith of Flat Creek, Claude Smith of Town of Johnstown, Clarence Smith of Fort Johnson.
  Funeral services will take place at the Swartz funeral home. Fort Plain, Saturday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Albert M. Brockway, pastor of the Canajoharie Methodist Church, officiating. The body will be placed in the Catherine Nellis Memorial Vault, and burial will be in Freysbush Cemetery in the spring.

  Ernest M. Weakley, Sr, 99, of Log City Rd, Amsterdam, passed away Tuesday January 17, 2012 at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam. Born on April 17, 1912 in Cherry Valley, NY a son of Marshall and Catherine Snyder Weakley.
   He was a life long area resident and attended Amsterdam High School. Mr. Weakley was employed as a machinist for many years at Mohawk Carpet Mills and the former Beaver Bam in Amsterdam. He last worked at Electro-Metrics in Amsterdam before retiring in 1980. His hobbies included photography, his home workshop, gardening and electronics. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Amsterdam. He was also a member of the Mohawk Camera Club, Inman Senior Citizens, Ft. Johnson Seniors and the Audobon Society Club.
  Ernest married Edith Smith in April of 1936. She passed away in 1953. He married Catherine Taboleski Weakley on June 22, 1957. She passed away in January of 1986. Mr. Weakley married Catherine Martuscello Weakley on Aug 17, 1996. She passed away on October 1, 2007.
   Survivors include his children, Ernest M. Weakley, Jr. and his wife Bonnie of Amsterdam. Ronald E. Weakley and his wife Jean of Charlton, NY and Shirley J. Ferlazzo and her husband Angelo of Amsterdam. Eight grandchildren, Linda M. Ferlazzo, Michael A. Ferlazzo and his wife Clare, Christopher B. Ferlazzo and his wife Stephanie, David A. Weakley and his wife Amy, Brian K. Weakley an his wife Cindy, Debra L. Birkholz and her husband Anthony, Timothy R. Weakley and Jonathan E. Weakley and his wife Krista. Great-Grandchildren, Edward Proctor, Kristin Proctor, Nicole Guere, Vinny Ferlazzo, Elizabeth Ferlazzo, Brittney Ferlazzo, Allen Weakley, Kayla Weakley, Kaitlyn Birkholz and Klara Weakley. One great-great grandchild, Christian Guere. Nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
  He was predeceased by his brothers and sisters, Floyd, Raymond, Olive, Ethel, Ella Mae, Fred and Edith.
  Funeral services will be held on Saturday January 21, 2012 at 11:00A.M. at the Betz, Rossi and Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Amsterdam, NY.
  The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday January 20, 2012 from 4:00 to 7:00PM at the funeral home.

   Mr. Weakley is the son of Mr. and Mrs. .Ernest Weaktey, Fort Johnson, and his wife Is the former Bonnie O'Nell, Limestone, Maine.
   A pink and white color scheme was carried out in the decoration and the couple opened their gifts by candlelight.
  The party was then adjourned to the Knotty Pine at North Broadalbin where dancing and refreshments were enjoyed.

  Miss Jean Elizabeth Marshall, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Marshall, 31 Brant Ave., Fort Johnson, was married to Ronald Edwin Weakley, son of Ernest Weakley, 24 Brant Ave., Fort Johnson, and the late Mrs. Edith Weakley. Saturday, Oct. 7, at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church.
  The Rev. Grover Jay officiated at the ceremony in which the bride was given in marriage by her father. Organist Matthew Cinquanti provided music.
  Attendants to the bride were Mrs. Philip DeRing, of Portland, Conn., matron of honor; Mrs. Nicholas Brooks of Charlton, sister of the bride, Mrs. Peter Corey of Perth, and Miss Mary Riley, bridesmaids, while Miss Lois Marshall, sister of the bride, was junior bridesmaid.
  Ernest M. Weakley, brother of the bridegroom, was best man. David Carter, John Beming and Gregory St. Amour served as ushers.
  The bride wore a long sata peau over taffeta gown with a bodice of reembroidered  coluni lace and bishop sleeves. The hemline featured permanent accordian pleats and a chapel train and a white satin ribbon was strung through the sleeves, bodice, neckline and hem of the dress. Her bouffant silk illusion veil was held by a face framer of coluni lace. She carried a cascade bouquet of white mums, stephanotis, and pink roses.
  The bridal attendants also wore long gowns. The bodice was pink chiffon with a high neckline and full sleeves. Ribbon trimmed the neck, bib front and waistline. The empire skirt was rouge velvet, while headpieces matched in velvet bows, lace trim and triple tiered veils. Each carried a cascade bouquet of pink carnations and pink wheat.
  The mother of the bride wore a mint linen ensemble and the bridegrooms mother wore a turquoise dress.
  A wedding reception at the Tower Inn followed the ceremony.
  The bride and bridegroom are both graduates of Lynch High School. Mrs. Weakley is a graduate of St. Mary's Hospital School of Nursing and is a registered nurse on the ICUCCU staff. Mr. Weakley is in a specialist's apprentice course at the General Electric Co. in Schenectady.
Following a trip to New England, the couple will live at 32 Henrietta Blvd., Amsterdam

  Milo Clinton Snell, 43, a farmer all of his life, died Saturday, June 8, 1940 at his home near Still's corners, in the eastern part of the town of Oppenheim. In ill health for some time, Mr. Snell was confined to bed for two months. He had received treatment at Littauer hospital in Glovarsvllle and the Montgomery county sanatorium at Swart hill. He was born March 15, 1898, In the town of St. Johnsville, a son of Benjamin and Carrie Failing Snell. He spent his entire life on a farm, and attended school in Youker's Bush.
  There survive the wife, who was Miss Beulah Stock; nine children, lona, Ellsworth, Emmett, Ora May, Otis, Elsie, Betty, Beatrice and Grant, all at home; his parents, town of Oppenheim; one sister, Mrs. Florence Failing, and a brother, Bennie Snell, St. Johnsville.
  The body was brought to the Smith funeral home, here, from which there will be a prayer service this afternoon at 2 o'clock, with the funeral at --- from St. Paul's Lutheran church . Rev. George H. Kling, pastor, will officiate.

  The survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ira Burke of Fonda; one son, Melvin Burke of Gloversville and one daughter, Mrs. Roy Van Deusen of Johnstown, one sister, Mrs. Benjamin Saltsman of Fonda and four brothers, Harry, John, Leroy and Reed Burke.
  The body Is to be shipped to Fonda, where it is understood funeral services will be held this week. The funeral arrangements will be announced.

  Born June 18, 1892 in the Town of Ephratah, she was the daughter of Charles and Alice Foster Stock.
  Mrs. Burke was the widow of Lewis Burke, who died in 1943.
  She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and its Daughters of Wesley Class.
  Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Marcella Van Deusen of Johnstown, and four grandchildren.

  She was born June 3,1890, at Almond, Allegany County. Her husband, Lewis Burke, died in 1943. She had resided in Gloversville a number of years and was employed by the former Kingsboro silk Mills, Inc., 17 East Twelfth Avenue, retiring as forelady of the lingerie textile department.
  Mrs. Burke was a member of the Daisy Congregational Church.
  Survivors, in addition to her son, are two sisters, Mrs. Ethel Mosher of Gloversville RD 2 and Mrs. Nina Fawcett of Hornell, Steuben County; one brother, Henry Curry of Detroit, Mich.; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A funeral service for Mrs. Burke was held yesterday at Daisy. Burial was in a Daisy cemetery.
