Funeral service for Mrs Nettie Cromer Young, wife of George Young of Fonda, who died Friday in the Ellis hospital in Schenectady where she had been a patient three days, was held yesterday afternoon at 2:30 In the Free Methodist church in Gloversvllle.
The Rev, I. W. Persons, pastor of the church, officiated. Burial was made in the Evergreen cemetery at the Sand Flats, Fonda.
The bearers were her five sons, Amon, Howard, Glen, Alvin and Douglas and her son-in-law, Fred Case.
Flowers were from the Manhattan Council of Lions. Jello Press Room employes, Free Methodist church of Gloversvllle, Rockwood Sunday school, Jello Recreation Club, neighbors, Fulton County Highway Department, relatives and friends.
Persons attending were from Brockport, Lyons, Lassellsville, St. Johnsvllle, Fort Plain. Palatine Bridge, Canajoharte, Fultonvllle, Rockwood, Johnstown, Gloversville, Sammonsville and Ephratah.

George P. Young of Indian Road, Fonda RD, is celebrating his 91st brithday anniversary
today.
A party in his honor is planned for tomorrow at his home, with an open house scheduled to begin at 2:30.
Born Sept. 20, 1884 in Stone Arabia, he moved in the early 1900s to the Johnstown area where he owned and operated a dairy farm until his retirement about 20 years ago.
After turning over the farm to his son, Glenn, he moved to a new home located on the farm. He worked as a carpenter for a few years after retiring and also helped on the farm.
Young's first wife, the former Nettie Cromer of Scotch Bush, died in 1949. About five years
later he married the former Alice Dinehart, who died in 1970.
A heart problem necessitated the installation of a pacemaker in July and Young has recovered and is performing his usual duties of cooking his own meals and cleaning his house where he lives alone.
Young is an avid fisherman and spent time last year in Florida deep sea fishing.
He is a member of the North Bush Methodist Church.
A family reunion was held three weeks ago at the Stone Arabia Methodist Church
grounds, with 60 persons in attendance.
In addition to Glenn, Young has four other sons, Howard of Fonda RD, Alvin of Rose, Wayne county, Amon of Gloversville, Douglas of Clarkston, Monroe county; one daughter, Mrs. Evelyn Case of Johnstown. Another daughter, Mrs. Marietta Hurtsburg, died several years ago.
He also has 30 grandchildren, 50 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Mrs. Marrietta E. Hertzberg, 39, wife of Louis S. Hertsberg, died last night at 7 at her home, 79 Bleecker street, following an illness of eight months.
She was born in Stone Arabia, Town of Palatine. She had resided in Gloversville for ten years and was a member of the Free Methodist Church, Gloversville.
The survivors besides her husband are her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George P. Young; one sister, Mrs. Fred Case, Stone Arabia; five brothers, Amon Young, North Bush, Howard and Herman Young, Stone Arabia. Alvin Young, Rose, and Pvt. Douglas Young, who is stationed in France.

The bride was dressed in white satin with long veil and matching accessories, She carried an arm bouquet of roses.
Mrs. E. Duignan, sister of the bridegroom, attended the bride and the best man was Herman Young, brothe of the bride.
After the ceremony, a reception was held at the home of the bride's parents.
After a trip, Mr. and Mrs. Hertzberg will reside in Gloversville.

FONDA, July 21.—Geraldine Young, 12, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George P. Young of Stone Arabia died last night of leukemia at the Nathan Llttauer hospital, Gloversville, where she was taken a week ago for treatment and observation.
She was born May 19, 1929, in the Town of Mohawk and had completed the sixth grade in the Nellls Center district school. She was a member of the Free Methodist church at Gloversville.
Survivors besides her parents are two sisters, Mrs. Louis Hertzberg, Gloversville; Mrs. Frederick Case, Fonda; five brothers. Howard and Herman Young, Fonda; Alvin Young, Rose, N.Y.; Amon Young, Gloversville and Douglas Young, Danville, also several nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at her home. Rev. C. L.
Helsby, pastor of the Pilgrim Holiness church, Gloversville, will officiate and burial will be in the Evergreen cemetery, Fonda.

Mrs. Ida Sponable, 73, former resident of 521 North Perry Street died at 2 this morning at the Van Lone rest home, where she had resided since June of 1952.
She was born Aug. 26. 1887 in the Town of Ephratah, daughter of Stephen and Louise Pomeroy Cromer. She had been a Johnstown resident 30 years.
Her husband. Clark Sponable, died in 1950. She was last employed as a home worker by the Goodhelm Glove Company.
Mrs. Sponable was a member of the Lassellsville Methodist Church.
The survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Everett Hollenbeck, and a son, Elton Sponable. both of Johnstown; a sister. Mrs Clarence Mosher, of St. Johnsville, and a brother, Peter Cromer, of St. Johnsville RD, also five grandchildren.

James W. Dempster, aged twenty three years, died at the home of his parents in Scotch Bush on November 1. The cause of death was pneumonia. Besides his parents he is survived by his widow and two children, Mildred and Arnold. Also two sisters, Mrs. Flora Young and Miss Elizabeth Dempster, and one brother, Myron, all of Scotch Hush.

Arnold J. Dempster, 3 Worden street, passed away at the Nathan Littauer hospital Sunday morning at 6:45. Death was due to acute appendicitis.
Mr. Dempster, who was 24 years of age, was born July 15, 1909, in Scotch Bush, the son of James Dempster and Ida Cromer Dempster. He had resided in Johnstown a little over two years.
He attended the Free Methodist church of Scotch Bush.
The survivors are his mother, one sister, Mildred Dempster of this city, and one half-brother, Alton Sponable of Johnstown.
The funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 at the A. G. Cole Funeral Home. Rev. C. C. Crouch, retired, of Broadalbin, will officiate. Interment will be made in the Scotch Bush cemetery.

ST. JOHNSVILLE — Clark B. Sponable, 72, died Sunday in a Utica hospital after several months' illness.
He was born in the Town of Oppenheim April 17, 1878, son of Nathan and Mary Ellen Dempster Sponable, For many years he operated a farm in Fords Bush.
Mr. Sponable was a great-grandson of John Sponable, who fought in the Battle of Oriskany, and a great - great - grandson of James Dempster, the first Methodist preacher in this part of the state.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ida Sponable, Johnstown; one son, Elton Sponable. Gloversvllle; two sisters, Mrs. William Schlemer, Albany, and Mrs, Jennie Weaver, St. Johnsvllle; three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Clarence B. Sponable, 72, died Sunday in a Utica hospital as a result of a heart condition. He had been ill several months. He was the great grandson of John Sponable, who fought in

Gladys, daughter, of Clarence and Minnie Mosher, died at the home of her grandfather, Stephen Cromer, on Monday, March 29, She was about 3 years old.
Mrs. Mosher had attended the funeral of her stepmother, Eliza Cromer, who died the past week, and was acompanied by her daughter. They remained here with the father, Stephen Cromer, following the funeral and it was during this visit that the child was taken sick very suddenly, death following after a very short illness. The cause of death was acute pneumonia.
The funeral will be held Wednesday at 12, from the home In Scotch Bush. Interment in Fical cemetery.

The funeral of Mrs. Roy H. Sutton was held at the Lassellsville Methodist church Thursday afternoon at 2 and was largely attended. The bearers were Arnold Dempster, Alfred Moslier, Amon Youngs and Earl Veeder, nephews. The Rev. C. E. Crouch of Broadalbin officiated. Interment was made in the Lassellsville cemetery.
Mrs. Sutton passed away at her home in Lassellsville earlier in the week. She had been ill but a short time.

Kenneth, Richard and Curtis Sutton, of Lassellsvlle; her father, Stephen Cromer, of Scotch Bush; one brother, Peter Cromer, of Scotch Bush; three, sisters, Mrs. George Youngrs, of Stone Arabia; Mrs. Ida Sponable, of Scotch Hush and Mrs. Clarence Mosher. of North Oppenheim, also a number of nieces and nephews.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Laura Sutton; two daughters, Mrs. Donald Nellis of St. Johnsville and Mrs. Florence Manelius of Johnstown; four sons, Kenneth of Johnstown, Richard and Curtis of St. Johnsville, and Roy Jr. of Randall; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Robert Pickard, St. Johnsville; one stepson, Wilfred Lyons, Lassellsville; one brother, Albert Sutton , St. Petersburg, Florida; nieces and nephews.

Florence Manelius, 78, of Gloveraville, died Tuesday, Nov. 5, at Nathan Littuaer Hospital after a long illness.
Mrs. Manelius was born in Lassellsville and had been a lifelong area resident.
She had been employed as a glovemaker at Perrella Glove for several years before retiring and was a communicant of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church.
Survivors include three brothers, Kenneth P. Sutton of Johnstown, Curtis A. Sutton of St. Johnsville and Roy .1 Sutton Jr. of Glen; and a sister, DeEtta N. Nellis of St. Johnsville.
A prayer service was held Thursday, Nov. 7, at John W. Finocan Funeral Home, Gloversville with burial in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Johnstown.
Calling hours were Wednesday, Nov. 6, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

La Verne (Herky) Kretser, 62, a former St. Johnsville businessman, 2 West Main street, died suddenly Saturday night at his home following an apparent heart attack.
He was born in St. Johnsville, June 20, 1915, the son of Mrs. Mildred K. Nellis Kretser and the late LaPier Kretser.
He was married to the former Frances Wright March 30, 1951, in St. Johnsville.
Mr. Kretser attended St. Johnsville schools and for most of his working life was employed as a supervisor for the former Palatine Dyeing Company, retiring in 1967. He and his wife then purchased the Kyser Hotel which they operated until 1976.
He entered the U.S. Army March 19, 1941, serving with an artillery division in the China - Burma - Indian Theatre. He was discharged Aug. 13, 1945, with the rank of
sergeant.
He was an exempt member and past chief of the St. Johnsville Fire Department with 35 years of service.
A member of St. Johnsville Lodge No. 611, F. and A.M., and a 32nd degree Mason of the Scottish Rite, Mr. Kretser also was a member of Ziyara Temple AAONMS; Morris J. Edwards Post No. 168, American Legion, and Mohawk Valley Post No. 3275, Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was an avid bowler.
Survivors include his widow and mother; a son, Barry L. Kretser: a daughter, Mrs. Kim M. Cheney, both of St. Johnsville; a brother, Donald Kretser, Fort Plain; a grandson, Tad Cheney, and an uncle, LeRoy (Colonel) Nellis, St. Johnsville; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the H. C. Smith Funeral Home, St. Johnsville, with the Rev. Richard Clark, pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, St. Johnsville, officiating. Interment will be made in St. Johnsville Cemetery at a later date.
Members of the St. Johnsville Fire Department and American Legion will visit the funeral home tonight. A Masonic ritualistic service will be conducted there at 8:30 o'clock tonight.
Calling hours will be tonight from 7-9 o'clock.

Mr. Kretser attended St. Johnsvllle schools, and is employed in the Ruller & Kretser restaurant, in which his father is a partner.

The bride wore soldier blue with deep wine-colored accesories and a corsage of white rosebuds, while her maid of honor, Miss Genevieve Luksis, Tribes Hill, was attired in light wine color with deep wine accessories and wore a corsage of pink rosebuds.
Mr. Manelius' best man was Edward Button, Canajoharie. The bride and bridegroom presented personal gifts to their attendants.
Following the ceremony a reception was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles D. Vedder, Eastern Turnpike, where the bride has resided for the past two years. Besides the bridal party about 20 guests were present.
Later the newlyweds left on a wedding trip to New York and Washington, D. C., after December 1, they will be at home in an apartiment in the Mrs. Arthur J. Townley house, Broadway. Fonda.
The bride is employed at the Superb Glove Company plant in Johnstown and Mr. Manelius is a Dairy Herd Improvement Associatlon supervisor in Montgomery County.

ST. JOHNSVILLE - Funeral services were scheduled for this afternoon for Peter Cromer, 66, of St. Johnsville R.D. 1, who died Friday evening in Little Falls Hospital. He had been in the hospital about a week.
There will be a prayer service at 1:30 at the Smith Funeral Home, St. Johnsville, and the funeral will be at 2:30 in the Scotch Bush Methodist Church. The Rev. Herbert Seaman, pastor, will officiate, assisted by the Rev. Howard May Jr. Interment will be in Fical Cemetery, Lassellsville.
Mr. Cromer was born in Scotch Bush on Oct. 18, 1897, a son of Stephen and Eliza Wertz Cromer. He spent his entire life in the Scotch Bush area and for 11 years was employed by the Little Falls Felt Shoe Co. until his retirement 18 months ago. He attended the Free Methodist Church in Scotch Bush.
His marriage to Edith Cleason took place May 5, 1920. She survives, with three sons, Walter of Garwood, N.J., Glen, with the U.S. Army in Germany, and Howard, with the Navy at Los Angeles; six daughters, Mrs. Joyce Klemczak, Amsterdam, Mrs. Lois Green, St. Johnsville, Mrs. Clara Fredericks, Nelliston, Misses Betty, Gertrude and Elva, St. Johnsville; one half- sister, Mrs. Minnie Mosher, St. Johnsville; 14 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs Edith M Cromer, 77, of St. Johnsvilte RD 1, (Town of Ephratah), died Thursday afternoon in Little Falls Hospital, where she had been a patient since March 21.
Born in Scotch Bush, Town of Ephratah, Dec. 3, 1903, she was the daughter of Thomas and Elva Cretser Gleason. She was educated in Scotch Bush.
Her marriage to Peter Cromer took place May 5, 1920, in Scotch Bush. He died July 3, 1963.
For much of her life Mrs. Cromer was a housewife. She was a member of the Scotch Bush Free Methodist Church and its Women's Missionary Fellowship International.
Survivors include two sons, Glen Cromer, Tacoma, Wash. and Howard E. Cromer of Cyprus, Calif.; six daughters. Mrs. Lois Green, St. Johnsville RD 1, Mrs. Harry (Betty) Van Dusen, Gloversville, Mrs. Leonard (Clara ) Fredericks, Nelliston. Mrs. Klemens (Joyce) Kiemczak, Amsterdam, Miss Gertrude Cromer, at home, and Mrs. George (Elva) Lynch, St. Johnsville; 23 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two aunts, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Another son, Walter, predeceased his mother in September, 1980.
Funeral services were held Sunday at 2 p.m from the Scotch Bush Free Methodist Church, with the Rev. Stanley Ball, pastor, officiating. Interment was made in the Fical Cemetery, Scotch Bush.

They are the parents of ten children, the late Delbert; Mrs. Lois Green, Lassellsville; Mrs. Clara Frederick, Nelliston; Walter, New Jersey; Glen, Long. Island; Joyce, Betty, Elva and
Gertrude, Scotch Bush and Airman 1/c Howard Cromer, stationed with the Navy in Philadelphia now home on leave.
They have five grandchildren. He is employed at the Little Falls Felt Shoe Company, St.
Johnsville. They are members of the Scotch Bush Free Methodist Church and are lifelong residents of this area .

ST. JOHNSVILLE—Delbert George Cromer, 32 of RD. 1 St Johnsville, (Scotch Bush), died yesterday morning in Little Falls Hospital. He was fatally injured on Oct. 20 when the car in which he was riding alone left the road between Lassellsville and Scotch Bush and struck the side of a small bridge.
Passing motorists found and extricated him from the wreckage and moved him to the hospital. Little hope was held from the outset for his survival. The place of the accident was not far from his home.
He was born in the Town of Ephratah, June 13, 1921, son of Peter and Edith Gleason Cromer. He attended the Scotch Bush School and entered the Navy, Nov. 23, 1934 serving mostly in the Pacific Theater of action. He received his discharge in 1946 and since then had been employed by the New York Central Railroad. He was a member of the Railroad Brotherhood.
The survivors besides his parents of Scotch Bush are six sisters, Mrs. Ira Green of RD 1 St. Johnsville, Betty, Clara, Joyce, Gertrude and Elva Cromer at home three brothers, Walter who is in Korea, Glen in Germany and Howard Cromer at home; aunts and uncles, one niece and one nephew.
The body was moved to the Lull Funeral Home where it will remain until Saturday morning. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Free Methodist Church in Scotch Bush with the Rev. Floyd Wright, officiating. Military rites will be carried out by local veterans. Burial will be in the Fical Cemetery near Lassellsville.

Betty Jane Van Deusen, age 86, formerly of Gloversville passed away Monday January 2, 2012 at the St. Johnsville Nursing Home.
She was born in Scotch Bush, NY on February 26, 1925 the daughter of the late Peter and Edith Gleason Cromer.
On August 5, 1967, Betty married Harry Van Deusen. They shared many years united in marriage until his passing in June 1991.
She was a member of the Scotch Bush Free Methodist Church. Betty Jane enjoyed babysitting for family and friends through the years as well as taking day trips and eating out at various restaurants and church dinners with her husband. While in the St. Johnsville Nursing Home she enjoyed bowling and playing bingo.
Betty is survived by two brothers: Glenn Cromer of Tacoma, WA, Howard Cromer of Cypress, CA, four sisters: Clara Frederick of Nelliston, NY, Joyce Klemczak of Amsterdam, NY, Gertrude Cromer of Ft. Plain, NY, Elva Lynch of St. Johnsville, NY as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Betty was preceded in death by two brothers: Walt Cromer, Delbert Cromer and a sister, Lois Green.

Attendants were Mr. and Mrs. Ira Green, brother-in-law and sister of the bride. Mrs. Green wore a aqua dress with white accessories and a corsage of white carnations.
Richard Wagner was usher.
The bride's mother chose a royal blue nylon dress with white accessories, and a white carnation, corsage.
A reception followed, in the Lassellsville Community Hall, and was attended by about 75 guests.
After a trip to Niagara Falls, Mr. and Mrs. VanDeusen are residing at 128 Fremont St., Gloversville.
Mrs. VanDeusen formerly was employed in St. Johnsville by the Little Falls Felt Shoe Co. Mr. VanDeusen is employed by the Independent Leather Co. in Gloversville.

Born on September 30, 1944 in Little Falls, NY, she was the daughter of Peter Cromer and Edith Gleason Cromer.
She attended Oppenheim Ephratah School.
Before moving to Dolgeville in 1982 she resided in Scotch Bush. In 2000, she moved to Fort Plain, where she resided until her death.
She was a member of Scotch Bush Free Methodist Church and Dolgeville Baptist Church. She was also a member of Western Fulton Senior Center. She enjoyed reading and loved going for walks. She prided herself on being fiercely independent.
Miss Cromer was employed for over 30 years at Daniel Green’s in Dolgeville.
Gertrude was predeceased by 5 brothers and 2 sisters.
She is survived by 3 sisters, Clara Frederick of Nelliston, NY, Joyce Klemczak of Amsterdam, NY, Elva Lynch of St. Johnsville, NY; 1 brother, Howard and Eva Cromer of Cypress, CA; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Burial will take place at a later date at Fical Cemetery.

Mrs. Maude Wormuth Cromer of Beaver street, died yesterday morning at 5:20 o'clock at the Nathan Littauer hospital, where she had been taken for treatment Monday. Death was caused by meningitis. Mrs. Cromer was in her fortieth year and has resided in this city during her entire life time, being the daughter of Alfred and Susan Acott Wormuth. She possessed a large number of friends and admirers who will deeply mourn to hear of her passing.
In addition to her husband, Clarence Cromer, she is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Wormuth; five children, Harold, Alfred, David, Florence and Levi; two sisters, Mrs. Augustus Walrath and Miss Florence Wormuth, all of this city; and several aunts.
The funeral will be held Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock at Buchanan's undertaking parlors and interment will be made in the family plot in the Johnstown cemetery.

Elsie M. Cromer
Elsie M. Cromer, 87, of Johnstown, passed away Sunday, July 24, 2005 at home after a brief illness.
She was born February 8, 1918 in Johnstown, a daughter of the late Earl and Dolly Lawerence Mattice.
Mrs. Cromer was employed in the local glove industry working at the former Papa & Sons Inc. of Gloversville until her retirement.
She was predeceased by her husband David Cromer on June 7, 2002. They were married on October 27, 1939. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by two brothers, Earl and Richard Mattice.
Survivors include five beloved nieces, Sally (Robert) Stankes, Linda (Richard) Logan, Catherine (Robert) Maragno and Jeri Lynn Wagner; one cherished nephew, Alan Mattice; five loving great-nephews, Christopher and Brian Stankes, Dustin Logan, David Maragno and Adam Wagner; loving great-niece, Audrey Wagner; sister-in-law, Rose Marie (Skip) Wilson; also many other nieces, nephews, cousins, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and numerous family members.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at the A.G. Cole Funeral Home Inc., 215 East Main Street, Johnstown.
Friends and family may call on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mis. Elsie M. Mattice, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Mattice, 4 Burton street, and David Cromer, 107 Pearl street, son of Clarence Cromer, 421 Fon Clair street, were united in marriage in the parsonage of the Methodist church last night at 7. The ceremony was performed by the Rev David Paton.
Miss Emma Mattice, cousin of the bride, acted as bridesmaid and Earl Mattice, brother of the bride, was best man.
The bride was gowned in royal blue transparent velvet with accessories to match and wore a shoulder corsage of red roses.
The bridesmaid was attired in deep wine colored transparent velvet, with matching accessories, and wore a corsage of yellow roses.
The bride presented the bridesmaid with a leather pooketbook and suede, gloves and the bridegroom's gift to his attendant was a gold initialed cigarette case.
Following the ceremony a wedding supper was served at the home of the bride's parents with members of the bridal party and the immediate families of the couple present.
After a short honeymoon the newlyweds will take up their residence at 4 Burton street.
Mrs. Cromer has been the guest of honor at several pre-nuptial affairs and Mr. Cromer was the guest of honor at a surprise bachelor party, given by his brother, Harold Cromer, in Gloversville Monday night.
Mrs. Cromer was formerly employed as an operator in the Johnstown exchange of the Upstate Telephone Co. Mr. Cromer is employed at the factory of the Royalknit Glove Corp.

A reception followed at Union Hall.
The couple left on a wedding trip to Virginia. On their return the newlyweds will reside in a trailer home at 112 Park Street.

... W1L1JAM CROMER of 31 Cayudetta street, was killed instantly by the large truck operated by Harold St Gelais, 41, of 93 Melville avenue, Cohoes, police reported.
He was pronounced dead at the scene by Dr. John Fernandez of Gloversville, a Fulton county coroner, who last night said he was issuing a verdict of accidental death.
The victim's fatal injuries were reported as a fractured skull, compound fracture of the left shoulder, fractured jaw, multiple rib fractures, and abrasionsof the chest, arms and legs.
The accident happened about 3 p.m. as Cromer was crossing the street east to west alongside the Central Super Market, which fronts on West State street. He was carrying a small bag of groceries apparently headed home, about one block south. ...

He was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Johnstown Moose Lodge.

JOHNSTOWN — Mrs. Edith M. Cromer, 67, of 31 Cayadutta street, wife of William Cromer, died Saturday noon at the Johnstown hospital where she had been a patient three years. She had been ill for some time.
A NATIVE of Keck Center, Town of Johnstown, she was a Johnstown resident for the past 90 years and was last employed by the Sutton Glove Co.
Mrs. Cromer was a member of the First Baptist Church, the Mohawk Council, Degree of Pocahontas, of which she was a past Pocahontas, women of the moose and the women's relief corps.
Survivors besides her husband are a daughter, Mrs. Richard W. Becker of Gloversville, a son, Donald W. Cromer of Johnstown, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow at the Cole funeral home. Rev. Robert W. Sampson of the First Baptist Church will officiate. Interment will be in the Johnstown cemetery.

Raymond Cromer Sr., 81, of 23 Oakwood Avenue, former highway superintendent in the Town of Ephratah, died at 4:15 yesterday afternoon at Johnstown Hospital, where he had been admitted at 9 yesterday morning.
He was bom Sept. 10, 1893 in the Town of Ephratah, the son of Levi and Elizabeth Youker Cromer, and in September 1917 married the former Hattie Clemons, who survives.
Mr. Cromer was highway superintendent for the Town of Ephratah between 1931 and 1939. He moved to Johnstown in 1940. He was then employed as a gluecooker at Milligan and Higgins on Maple Avenue between 1940 and 1962, when he retired.
A lifelong area resident, he attended Ephratah school and also attended the Free Methodist Church in Scotchbush.
Survivors in addition to his wife are a daughter, Mrs. Squires N. Gray of Johnstown; two sons, Kenneth Cromer of Johnstown and Raymond Cromer Jr. of Meco; two brothers, Neil Cromer of Gloversville and Ira Cromer of Johnstown; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Mr. and Mrs. Ira Cromer of 6 New Montgomery Street recently observed their 50th wedding anniversary.
The couple was honored at a dinner party Saturday at the Stuft Shirt attended by 75 friends and relatives.
It was arranged by their children, Richard Cromer, Mrs. Lucille Mulvey and Mrs. Lois Hosbach, all of Johnstown and Mrs. Donna Klempa of Gloversville.
Mr. and Mrs. Cromer was presented a floral money tree and other gifts at the party.
Cromer, a native of Lassellsville, was employed for 30 years by the N. A. Taylor Company, Gloversville. Now semi-retired, he operates a camping supplies rental service at home.
Mrs. Cromer, the former Florence Strobeck, was born at St. Johnsville. She was employed for more than 30 years by the Gates-Mills glove company before her retirement two years ago.
The couple was united in marriage Sept. 8, 1926, at the Methodist Church parsonage. Their attendants were Miss Mary Youker, cousin of the bridegroom, and Lester Cromer, brother of the bridegroom, both now deceased.
Mr. and Mrs. Cromer both are in good health. They enjoy gardening and camping. They have 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The matron of honor wore black silk with metalic thread boat neckline and black accessories. Her corsage was pink roses.
The bride's mother wore black lace over blue taffera with black velvet accessories, She had a corsage of red roses.
Dinner was held at Union Hall after the ceremony for the immediate familes followed by a reception at the home of the bride's parents, attended by 50 or more guests including a number from out of town.
The newlyweds left later in the afternoon on a 2-weeks' honeymoon to NIagara Falls and Canada. They will reside at 108 South Melcher Street.
Both are employed by the General Electric Co. in Schenectady, the bridegroom in the general engineering laboratory, and his bride in the blueprint department.
Mulvey served six years in the Marines during World War II, in the Pacific.
For traveling, the bride ware a black and white sheath dress of silk, with black accessories.
They have been guests of honor at several pre-nuptial parties in this city and Schenectady.

Paul J. Klempa announced his candidacy for the Democratic nomination for mayor this
morning.
The 33-year-old city resident attended the former St. Mary's Elementary School and was graudated from Gloversville High School in 1959.
He also attended Hudson Valley Technical Institute in Troy.
Residing at 51 Saratoga Boulevard, Klempa worked for General Electric Company, Schenectady, as an electrician and was elected shop stewart of Local 301 while there. He is now employed as an electrician at MCA. He is also co-owner of Bowlers Pro Shop, 90 East Fulton Street.
He is a past member of Fulton County Electricial Contractors Association and the Gloversville Junior Chamber of Commerce.
Klempa is also a member of the Fulton County Classic bowling league and has been its secretary for the past few years. He also was elected secretary of the Capital District Intercollegiate Bowling League.
The candidate is active in local softball circles and was the first secretary of the Adirondack Softball Association.
He and his wife, the former Donna Cromer, have three children, Gina, Karen and Paul.

Mrs. Ethel M. Cromer, 85, of Lassellsville, died Thursday, April 21, at Little Falls Hospital after a short illness.
Mrs. Cromer was born in New Berlin and moved to the Johnstown area in 1925.
On April 16, 1927, she was married to Oscar Cromer. He died in 1979.
She was employed, at home, sewing gloves for the former Boyce Lazarus Glove Co. in Johnstown, retiring in 1982.
Mrs. Cromer was a member of Ephratah Senior Citizens and Lassellsville United Methodist Church.
Survivors include four daughters, Sylvia Snell of Little Falls, Geraldine Slater of Remsen, Evelyn Frasier of Lassellsville and Elsie Cretser of Palatine Bridge; three sons, Donald Cromer of Newark Valley, Leon Cromer of Dover, DL and Roger Cromer of Dolgeville; 33 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was Monday, April 25, at A.G. Cole Funeral Home, Johnstown. Burial will be in Michael Cemetery.
Calling hours were Sunday, April 24, at the funeral home.

LASSELLSVILLE - More than 100 friends and relatives attended the open house at the fire house Sunday afternoon in observance of the 50th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Cromer.
The function was hosted by the couple’s seven children, Donald Cromer, Endicott, Leon Cromer, Wilmington, Del., Roger Cromer, Dolgeville, Mrs. Ellsworth (Sylvia) Snell, Little Falls RD, Mrs. William (Elsie) Cretser and Mrs. Cyrus (June) Frasier, both of St. Johnsville RD 1, and Mrs. Carl (Geraldine) Slater, Remsen.
Miss Ethel Hickox and Oscar Cromer were married April 16, 1927, at the Johnstown Methodist Church by the Rev. Sturgess, then pastor. The attendants were Percy Bronk and Mae Van Duesen, both of whom are deceased.
A buffet luncheon was served featuring a decorated cake. The honored couple was
presented a corsage and a boutonniere. Grandchildren and great-grandchildren presented Mr. and Mrs. Cromer a money wishing well. They also received gifts, money and cards.
In addition to the seven children, the couple has 32 grandchildren, and sevengreat-grandchildren. Guests attended from Endicott, Delaware, Remsen, Little Falls, Gloversville, Nelliston and the surrounding area.

Miss Joan Frances Kral, daughter of Mrs. William L. Kral, Flushing, L. I., and the late Mr. Kral, was married to Ens. Leon L. Cromer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Cromer, RD 1, St. Johnsville, on June 18 in St Anthony of Padua Church, E. Northport.
The bride was given in marriage b y her brother William Kral. Karen Renkewitz, her niece, and Roger Cromer, the bridegroom's brother, attended the couple.
The bride was employed by the FBI, New York City. Ens. Cromer war graduated from Syracuse University and is stationed with the Navy in Japan, where he and his bride are making their home.

ST. JOHNSVILLE—The marriage of Miss Anne Marie Gorinshek. daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. William Gorinshek. Little Falls, and Roger William Cromer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Cromer. R.D. 1, St. Johnsville, was performed on Nov. 9 in St. Joseph's Church in Dolgeville. The Rev. Raymond Halpin, pastor, performed the double ring ceremony and celebrated the nuptual mass.
Edmund Creedon of Little Falls was soloist, and the altar was decorated with autumn
flowers.
The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore a gown fashioned with cotton, acetate and nylon lace, three-quarter length sleeves. Of street length, the gown also had an
acetate taffeta and nylon bouffant skirt and two bows at the waist. Her fingertip veil was of
pure silk illusion, attached to a tiara-type crown, hand-made of miniature simulated pearls and
crystal bead trim.
Miss Mary Gorinshek. Little Falls, siser of the bride, was maid of honor, and another sister, Frances Gorinshek, was bridesmaid.
The maid of honor wore a street-length, empire-style sleeveless dress of pink acetate satin, with a white fur jacket and matching veil. The bridesmaid was attired similarly. Both carried colonial bouquets of roses and carnations to match their gowns.

A reception was held in Rebekah Hall in Dolgeville, after which Mr. and Mrs. Cromer left for a trip to the southern part of New York State. The couple is residing at 91 N. Helmer Ave., Dolgeville.
The bride graduated from West Canada Valley Central School, Middleville, and the
bridegroom from Oppenheim - Ephratah Central School. Both are employed by the Daniel
Green Co. in Dolgeville.

Fred Richey. 77, retired locomotive engineer of the FJ & G Railroad, who resided at 259 Kingsboro Avenue, died at 12:20 yesterday afternoon at the Burleigh Nursing Home. He had been ill for the past several months. Born in Lassellsvllle, Mr. Richey came to Gloversville at the age of 21. He became an employe of the FJ & G in 1900. retiring after 50 years of service.
He was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and the First Presbyterian
Church.
Survivors are one daughter, Miss Doris Richey of Gloversville; one son; Supervisor Eugene D. Richey of Bleecker; two brothers, James Richey of Schenectady and Harry Richey of Amsterdam; one sister, Mrs, Bertha Bowdish of New Berlin; one granddaughter, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Jack Richey, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Richey of 12 Hawk street, will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 at the Eugene Hollenbeck, Jr., funeral home, 24 Spring street Rev. William C. Spicer, pastor of the First Presbyterian church, will officiate. Interment will be made in the family plot in the Mayfield cemetery.
Mr. Richey, 21, died at 2:15 yesterday morning at his home after a lingering illness. Death was caused by a heart ailment from which he had been suffering for the past three years.
The young man had attended the High school and was employed by the Jones Cooal corporation until last November when ill health forced him to quit
His death will be sincerely mourned. He was a member of the First Presbyterian church and when the Holy Cross chapter of DeMolay was in existence here, was one of its most interested and active members.
The survivors are his parents; one sister, Miss Doris Richey; one brother, Eugene D. Richey, several aunts and uncles and a niece.
