  FORT PLAIN - Mrs. Elma A Roof, 84 , of Fort Plain, died last night in the Ambridge nursing home where she had been a patient five weeks.
  She was born in the Town of Danube November 17, 1865, the daughter of Chauncy and Elizabeth Failing DeLong. She resided in Fort Plain48 years. She was the widow of Myron C. Roof.
  Mrs. Roof was a member of the Universalist Church.
  The survivors are two sons, Leo and Lester Roof, Fort Plain; one brother Charles DeLong, Niagara Falls; three sisters, Mrs. John Steenburg and Miss Ivo(sic) DeLong, Fort Plain and Mrs. Mary Cramer, Newville, also two grandchildren, three great grandchildren and on neice.
  Funeral services will be held on Monday afternoon at 3:30 at the Swarts funeral home. The Rev. Lyman Achenbach of the Universalist church will officiate. Burial will be in the Fort Plain cemetery.

  Fort Plain - Nov 2. - Byron Roof 73, well know resident of Fort Plain, died at his home on Prospect place Sunday afternoon at 1:00 o'clock after a lingering illness.
  He was born in the Town of Stark, Herkimer county, August 6, 1863, the son of the late Alexander and Betsy Walrath Roof and had lived in the Town of Stark for many years, where he was a farmer. About 25 years ago he came to Fort Plain and engage in the feen and grain buisness in the building formaly used as warehouse by the old Williams and Tanner Hardware Compandy on Calal Street. A few years later he was joined by his two sons, and has since conducted buisness under the firm name of Byron Roof and Sons,
  He was member of the Universalist Church and Mohawk Valley lodge K. of P.
  He is survived by his widow formerly Elma DeLong; two sons; Leo and Lester Roof, both of Fort Plain,; one sister, Mrs. Cora Bierman of St. Petersburg Fla., and two grandchildren.
  Funeral services will be held from his home Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. Gustav Ulrich, pastor of the Universalist Church will officiate. The K. of P. will conduct services at the grave. Interment will be made in the Fort Plain cemetery.
