- Obituary (Utica Daily Press, New York, Thursday, August 2, 1917)
Frankfort, Aug. 1 - Mary J. Lyons, widow of the late Jacob Lyons of Columbia Center, passed away yesterday morning at the home of her niece, Mrs. Arthur Stafford of Litchfield street. Teh deceased was born in Columbia Center 84 years ago and her long life was spent there until the death of her husband about eight years ago, when she came to Frankfort to reside with her nephew, W. D. Jacobson. Last week when Mr. and Mrs. Jacobson went away for a few days' vacation, she went to stay with her niece, Mrs. Stafford, and Mrs. Lyons seemed about her usual health at that time, but the intense heat of the past few days has told heavily on her, and without doubt hastened her death. Mrs. Lyons was a woman of fine character and was a member of the Dutch Reformed Church of Columbia. she was held in high respect and affection by those who knew her best. she is survived by one brother, Frank Jacobson of Cedarville; three nephews, W. J. Jacobson of Frankfort; Emmett Jacobson of Mohawk, Charles Jacobson of Marcellus; and by three nieces, Mrs. Floyd Kl--- and Mrs. Stafford of this village, and Mrs. David Metzger of Cedarville. After a prayer at Mr. Staffords home the body will be taken to Columbia, where the funeral will be held.
