  FORT PLAIN — Hasel A. Trumbull Swanson, 86, of Fort Plain, died Wednesday, Jan. 19, at her home.
   Born Feb. 2, 1907, in St. Johnsville, she was the daughter of Douglas and Anna Fiak (sic) Getman. She was educated in St Johnsville Schools and was a lifelong resident of the St Johnsville area.
  Mrs. Swanson was employed at H. Trumbull & Sons as a secretary and treasurer until retiring in 1990.
  She was a member of St Johnsville United Methodist Church and was a former church treasurer.
  She was married to Harold Trumbull on June 3, 1925, he died June 4, 1960. She later married Leonard Swanson on Jan. 25,1970, be died Mar. 16, 1981.
  Survivors include two sons, Richard Trumbull and Roger Trumbull, both of Fort Plain; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
  A memorial service will ba held at 11 a.m. Saturday. Feb. 5, at St Johnsville United Methodist Church with Rev. S. Bowen Hawkins officiating. Burial will be in Rural Park Cemetery in Ingham Mills in the spring.
  There was no calling hours.
  Arrangements are by the Smith-Woody and Enea Funeral Home, 9 Center St, St Johnsville.
  Memorial contributions may be made to St. Johnsville United Methodist Church. .

  Harold Trumbull, 57, of Fort Plain RD 1 died Saturday in Little Falls Hospital after a short
Illness.
   He was born September 9, 1902 in Inghams Mills, son of Howard and Lena Bentley Trumbull. He married Hazel Getman on June 3, 1925. The couple had lived in the Town of Minden where Mr. Trumbull operated a farm.
   For several years, he had been a farm equipment salesman.  
   He wa s a member of the St. Johnsville Methodist Church and the Montgomery County Farm Bureau.
   Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, Richard of Fort Plain RD 3, and Roger, Fort Plain RD 1; four grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Guy Stowell of Oppenheim, and Mrs. Harold Richards of St. [Johnsville].
  The funeral was held at 1:30 Wednesday from the Swart Funeral Home, the Rev. Charles Montgomery, pastor of the St. Johnsville Methodist Church officiating. Burial was made in the Inghams Mills Cemetery.

  Leonard A (Pappy) Swanson, 78, Fort Plain R.D. 1. died early Monday afternoon in Little Falls Hospital following a lengthy illness. He was born Feb. 8, 1903, in Versailles, Calif., and had been a resident of Fort Plain since 1948. He was an avid bowler and was formerly employed at Sportsmen's Lanes, Fort Plain. He was also a substitute bus driver for the Fort Plain Central School. Mr. Swanson retired from the Eagle Oil Co. as a truck driver in 1975. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of St. Johnsville where he served as a trustee of the church. He was also a member of the men's club of the church. Mr. Swanson is survived by his wife, Hazel Getman Trumbull Swanson, whom he married Jan. 25, 1970; a son, Leonard C. Swanson, Cottage Grove, Wis.; three daughters, Mrs. Gwendolyn Sitterly, Fort Plain; Mrs. Adeline Hastings, Memphis, Tenn., and Miss Aileen Swanson, California; two step sons, Richard and Roger Trumbull, Fort Plain;20 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 1:50 o'clock from the Swartz Funeral Home, Inc., Fort Plain with the Rev. S. Bowen Hawkins, pastor of the United Methodist Church of St. Johnsville, officiating. Interment will be in the Rural Park Cemetery, lnghams Mills. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mid- County Volunteer Ambulance Corps or to the Memorial Fund of the United Methodist Church, St. Johnsville. Calling hours at the funeral home will be this evening from 7-9 o'clock and Wednesday from 2-4 p.m.and 7-9 p.m.

  Mrs. Bessie Gottung, 65, of RD 1 died yesterday in Little Falls Hospital after a long illness.
  She was born in St Johnsville, daughter of Douglas and Mae Fisk getman and was graduated from St. Johnsville High School. She was employed as a nurses aide in a local nursing home. Mrs. Gottunf was a member of St. Johnsville Methodist Church.
  She leaves three sons; George Gottung, St Johnsville; Howard Sanders and Gerald Sanders, both of Fort Plain; two daughters, Mrs. Lois Simmons and Mrs. Dorcas Hutchings, both of Plattsburg and a sister, Mrs. Hazel Swanson of Fort Plain.
  The funeral will be at 2 Monday from the Swartz Funeral Home, Fort Plain. Burial will be in Fort Plain Cemetery.

 Newspaper Article (Schenectady Gazette, NY, Saturday, July 23, 1938)
  FORT PLAIN. July 22 - Findings of authorities probing the causes of the airplane crash here Wednesday that brought death to Mrs. Wayne Hendershott, Mrs. Alan Schell and Everett Sanders, all of this village, will not be made public for some time although the probe is practically completed, officials said.
  Federal Inspector Willard B. Blaine of Syracuse who has been here since the tragedy, has completed his scrutiny of the details and will report his findings to the government shortly. Any public announcement of causes of the crash will be made by the air bureau, he said.
  Coroner Clark Congdon announced he will hold an inquest but has set no date for the hearing as yet.
  Sanders, the pilot of the ill-fated plane, leaves his mother, his wife and five children. He was taught to fly nine years ago by Victor Rickard who was then teaching at the Schenectady airport, he also is survived by a brother, Arnold Sanders of Danube, Herkimer county.
  Services for Sanders will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Catherine Nellis memorial chapel, Rev. Mr. Miller of St. Johnsville will officiate and burial will be in Fort Plain cemetery.
  Services for Mrs. Hendershott were held this afternoon at the home of her mother, Mrs. John Hazel of Lynn, Mass. Interment was in Pine Grove cemetery at Lynn. Survivors include her husband, Wayne Hendershott, her mother and one sister of Lynn.
  Funeral rites for Mrs. Pearl Schell, third victim of the plane crash, were held this afternoon at 2 o'clock at the home of her parents Mr. and Mrs. Everett Eckler of Nelliston. Interment was in Inghams Mills cemetery.

  Fort Plain - Everett Sanders, victim of the airplane crash a mile west of here yesterday, was born in the Town of Minden, May 13, 1908, son of Mrs. Berdella Bellinger Sanders and the late Julius Sanders.
  He assisted his father in the conduct of their large farm, on the South St. Johnsville - Fort Plain Rd., until his father's death, and then continued to operate the farm himself.
  This spring, when air mall week was observed, Mr. Sander flew the mail from Fort Plain, St Johnsville. Canajoharie, and other nearby points, from Fort Plain to Syracuse. For this work, and his carefully flying, he was given a certificate as an honorary airmail pilot.
  Mr. Sanders married Miss Bessie Getman, St. Johnsville who survives, together with his mother; five children. Dorcas, Lola. Thomas, Jerry and Howard: one brother, Arnold, who resides near Davy's Corners, Town of Danube.

  St. Johnsville — Thomas J. Sanders, 29, of the Town of Minden. died unexpectedly yesterday in the Empire Diner, Main Street. Dr. Raymond Wytrwal, Montgomery County coroner, ruled the death was caused by a heart attack.
  Mr. Sanders, who resided with his three brothers in a trailer, had come to the diner for breakfast when he was stricken.
   The trailer is at the site of the home of their mother, Mrs. Bessie Gottung. The home was destroyed by fire about a year ago.
   Mr. Sanders was born in the Town of Minden. and attended St. Johnsville schools. His father, Everett F. Sanders, is deceased. He was a Korean War veteran and had been engaged in farm work in the area.
   Besides his mother, he, leaves three brothers, Jerry Sanders, Howard Sanders and
George Gotnung, with whom he resided, and two sisters, Mrs. Lois Dillenbeck, and Mrs.
Dorcas Bowley, both of Fort Plain.
   The funeral will be at 2 Saturday from the Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Montgomery, Methodist Church pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Fort Plain Cemetery.
