A very quiet home wedding occurred on Mills street this evening, when Miss Ida M. Rhoda of Mohawk, was married to Arthur Cristman. Rev. G. S. Beckwith of the Baptist Church, performed the ceremony in the, presence of a few invited friends and relatives. The ceremony was to have been held at the home prepared by the groom on Mill street, but owing to the illness of the groom it tookplace at his bedside at his brother's on Mill street. Herkimer. Nov. 16. (special) lda Maude, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. Rhoda of Mohawk, was married to Arthur F. Cristman at his brother's home in Snell avenue last evening. The ceremony was performed at the bedside of the groom, who has typhoid fever, by Rev. G. S. Beckwith of the Baptist Church, in the presence of only the immediate relatives and a few friends of the contracting parties. Both are popular young people and their l;arge circle of friends shower congratulations upon them. They will reside in Snell avenue in a house recently furnished by the groom.

Little Falls — Benjamin F. Thorp, died Dec. 17, 1942, in his home, 603 East Monroe St., following an illness of only a few days. He suffered a cerebral hemorrhage last Friday and his condition remained grave until his death.
He was born in June 25, 1876, son of John and Ella Youngs Thorp, in this city. He received his education here and for more than 40 years, followed the occupation of piano tuning. He was employed for a number of years at the Snell music store in Main St., and later in the Kempf music store in the same street.
He married Miss Miss Nellie Van Etten on May 30, 1895, in the home of the bride's parents, the cerefmany being performed by the Rev. Mr. Richardson, then pastor of the local Presbyterian Church. Mr. Thorp was a member of the local Masonic lodge.
He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Agnes Thorp Klock and Mrs. James Goodbred, both of this city; two sons, Glenn Jr., Town of Minden, and Robert B., U. S. Army, stationed in Sioux Falls, S.D.,; one brother, Raymond, J. Thorp; this city; and one sister, Mrs Avery Enkins, Watertown.

Glen J. Thorpe, 78, who resided near Mindenville, died Tuesday afternoon in Little Falls Hospital, where he had been a patient one day. He was removed to the hospital by SAVAC on Monday, after suffering a heart attack in his home.
Born in Little Falls on Sept. 1, 1897, he was the sun of Benjamin and Nellie Van Etten Thorpe. He was married to Ada Goodbread on April 9,1932 and she survives.
He was a graduate of Little Falls High School and had been employed for more than 20 years on Lock 16 of the New York State Barge Canal at Mindenville prior to his retirement a number of years ago.
Survivors in addition to the widow include a brother, Robert Thorpe, Rochester: two sisters, Mrs. Agnes Klock and Mrs. Gertrude Goodbread, both of Little Falls.
Funeral services were held Friday at 2 p.m. from the C. Curtis Lull Funeral Home, St. Johnsville, with the Rev. Robert Gram, pastor of St. John's Reformed Church, officiating. Interment will be made in St. Johnsville Cemetery at a later date.

Mrs. Ada Thorpe, 79, of Fort Plain RD 1.,(Mindenville) died early Thursday morning in Little Falls Hospital, where she had been a patient for two weeks. She had been in failing health for several months.
Born in Mindenvilie, March 6, 1903, she was the daughter of Uriah and Margaret Suits Goodbred. She was married to Glen Thorpe, who died in 1976.
She had resided her entire life in Mindenvilie. For several years she owned and operated the White Cabin Restaurant there.
She was a member of St. John's Reformed Church.
Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Millard (Nellie) Sheldon and a greatnephew, Stanley Sheldon, both of Mindenvilie, and several cousins.
Funeral services were held Saturday at 2 p.m. from the C. Curtis Lull Funeral Home with the Rev. Raymond Vandegriessen, pastor, officiating. Interment will be made in St. Johnsville Cemetery in the spring

Corinth - Robert B. Thorp, 78, of West Mechanic Street, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday; June 24, 1997, at his home.
Born on April 25, 1919 in Little Falls, he was the son of Benjamin and Nellie (VanEtten) Thorp.
Mr. Thorp graduated from Little Falls High School in 1937 and Thorp attended Syracuse University. He joined the United States Army Air Force on Sept. 28, 1947 serving as a sergeant during World War II in the Pacific Theater. He fought in several battles in the Solomon Islands and Japan and received several awards such as the American Service Medal, Asiatic Pacific Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the the the World War II Victory Medal.
Following his discharge on Dec. 16, 1945, Mr. Thorp served as an Air Traffic Controller for many years, at the airports in Pittsburgh and Rochester until his retirement in 1974.
He first married Edna G. Geiselhart of Pittsburgh in 1951. She died Jan. 29, 1974.
Mr. Thorp married Hester (Woodcock) Faller on July 12, 1975 at the Corinth Wesleyan Church.
He served for a number of years as a Corinth Village Trustee and was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Glens Falls.
Mr. Thorp was an avid golfer and bowler, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, music and his grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.
One brother, Glen Thorp and two sisters, Gertrude Goodbred and Agnes T. Klock, all died before him.
Survivors besides his wife of 22 years include two daughters, Betty A. Brown of Hadley and Virginia L. Christopher of Orlando, Fla.; four grandsons, Rev. Dean C. Brown of Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada, Rev. Dennis J. Brown of Blacks Harbour, New Brunswick, Canada, Rev. Duane E. Brown of Coldbrook, Nova Scotia, Canada, and Darin T. Christopher of Philadelphia, Pa.; three granddaughters, Lisa A. Haskell of Greenfield Center, Lynn M. Rafalik of Greenfield Center and Deanna L. McCrea of Silver Springs, Md.; and nine great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be, conducted at 1 pm. Thursday at the Grove Place Cemetery, Chili Avenue and Marshall Road, Chili, N.Y. with the Rev. Richard B. Starks, pastor of the Corinth Wesleyan Church, and Mr. Thorp's grandsons, the Rev. Dean C. Brown, the Rev. Dennis J. Brown and the Rev. Duane E. Brown, all officiating.
A memorial service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Densmore Funeral Home, Inc., 7 Sherman Ave., Corinth with the Rev. Richard Starks, the Rev. Dean C. Brown, the Rev. Dennis J. Brown and the Rev. Duane E. Brown, all officiating.

After a two weeks' trip Mr. and Mrs. Jenkins will make their home in the Faichney house in Wardwell street, Adams. Mrs Jenkins was a former teacher in the Adams High School and Mr. Jenkins is a clerk in the Citizens’ National Bank, a position he has held for several years.

Beulah Ethel Washburn, born 2 April 1916, of Camps Mills, Town of Hounsfield, Jefferson County, New York. She and her siblings, Esther, Marjory and Leon walked every day to Hounsfield Schoolhouse No. 5 at the intersection of Sulpher Springs Road and Salt Point Road. Still standing, it is the likely same stone one-room schoolhouse in which their grandmother, Esther Stoodley, had taught in the latter half of the 19th-century. Beulah later attended Dexter High School and graduated from Sackets Harbor High School and Newcomb Beauty School in Watertown. She was a member of the Sulpher Springs Methodist Church, and in her earlier years she was active in Youth Fellowship, choir and was ladies aide of the church.
Beulah died 12 February 1980, at the House of the Good Samaritan after a long struggle with lung cancer. The funeral was at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the Cleveland-Spink Funeral Home, Sackets Harbor, with Rev. Scott L. Barton officiating. Burial was in Brookside Cemetery, Watertown.

A funeral service for William H. Woodworth, 59, former city assessor who died Thursday (Feb. 25, 1954) in his home, 1236 Culver Rd., will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in Central Presbyterian Church.
The body will be at Hedges Memorial Chapel, 271 University Ave., until noon Monday. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Frieda Woodworth; a daughter, Mrs. Shirley Bain; a grandson, Billy Bain; and a brother, Irving L. Woodworth. Those wishing to express their regard for Mr. Woodworth were requested by the family to do so by aiding the Cerebral Palsy Association. Mr. Woodworth was a member of the board of the association.
Among his other fraternal, civic and religious affiliations, Mr. Woodworth was chairman of the Citizens Committee of Park Avenue Hospital, and a member of Ancient Craft Lodge, F&AM, and Rochester Consistory.

Irving L. Woodworth, 57, a mason contractor and a veteran of World War I, died yesterday (May 22, 1956) in Highland Hos[pital].
In the Army during World War I, Mr. Woodworth had the distinction of serving for a time as personal valet to President Woodrow Wilson, and later to King Leopold of Belgium.
A native of Rochester, Mr. Woodworth attended the Rochester Business Institute, and for many years was active in sports. His home was at 245 Carling Rd. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Marion Woodworth; a son, William Woodworth, and three grandchildren. A funeral serv ice will be conducted by the Rev. Anthony Luidens, D.D., at 2 p.m. tomorrow in Hedges Memorial Chapel, 271 University Ave. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.

Alexandria Bay ... A pretty wedding occured at the Reformed church at (?)yesterday, when miss Lorena Emily Davis eldest daughte rof Mr. and Mrs. Hiram P. Davis was united in matrimony to Frederick Springer by Rev. C. F. Benjamin. Miss Coates of Watertown was bridesmaid and Clarence S. Thomson of this place attended the groom. S. J. Vrooman, f. E. Cornwell, Roy Shoemaker and Louis Hertman acted as ushers. The bride wore a white crepe de chine ove white taffeta and carried a bouquet of white roses, The bridesmaid wore white organdy over pink sink and carried pink roses. Mr. and Mrs. Springereft after the ceremony for the home of the bride where a wedding breakfast was served by Cateress Wetrerhshn (?). they left on the 7:45 train for New York, where they will remain about two weeks. After their return they will make their home in this village.

Mrs. Harriet Butts, 75, formerly of Spencer, died in Binghamton, Dec. 31, 1941, at 11:20 pm following a brief illness. Although in poor health for a long time she had shown improvement until Christmas Day when she was taken in her final illness.
The body was removed to the Allen Funeral Home, Spencer, where funeral services were held on Sunday, Jan 4, 1942, at 2:30 pm. Rev Seward Bliss, pastor of the Presbyterian Church, officiated. Internment in Evergreen Cemetery, Spencer.
She is survived by a son, Charles E Butts, of Seneca Falls; a daughter, Mrs Jerome Hill, of Binghamton; a sister, Mrs Grace MacQueen, of Big Flats; a grandson and a granddaughter, both of Spencer.
Mrs Butts left Spencer about three years ago to live with her daughter in Binghamton. She was a charted member of the Spencer Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star. The Star members sat in a body at the funeral.

A dispatch received this Thursday afternoon as we gp to press confims our rumor of last week and states that Spencer and Van Etten have just joined hands or in other words Mr George F Butts, of the town of Spencer, has just taken unto himself a wife, Miss Swartwood, of our neighboring village. The happy event took place at 2:30 this afternoon.

The following account of the Butts -- Swartwood wedding to which we referred last week, appeared in the last issue of the Van Etten Breeze, and goes somewhat more into details.
"This (Thursday) morning at the home of Daniel Decker, about two miles West of this village (Van Etten) Mr Geo F Butts, of Spencer, and Miss HAttie E Swartwood of this place were united in holy matrimony. The ceremony was performed by the Rev J H Ross at 9 o'clock. A company of about twenty, including the immediate relatives and near friends, was present. A wedding breakfast was served the guests after the ceremony and congratulations were over. The newly married couple drove to Swartwood where the took the E C & N train for Elmira, going thence to Hornellsville for a brief sojourn among the bride's relatives.
The bride, daughter of Mr and Mrs King Swartwood, has since early youth made hre home with her uncle, DAniel Decker. She is much respected by all and held in high esteem by her large circle of friends and acquaintances.
The groom, whose home is in the town of Spencer about midway between the villages of Spencer and Van Etten, is widely known here and is popular with his numerous associates.
The best wishes of all are with Mr and Mrs Butts for a long and happy married life."

SPENCER-Charles E. Butts, 65, of West Tioga St., Spencer, died Friday Jan. 10, 1964 at Tompkins County Hospital after a short illness.
He was a retired carpenter; and a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Spencer. He was born in Spencer July 9, 1898 the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Butts, and was a lifelong resident of this community.
Mr. Butts is survived by a sister, Mrs. Julia Hill of Largo, Fla.; a niece and a nephew.
Funeral services, at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 13, in the Allen Funeral Home, Spencer, will be conducted by the Rev. Robert Wills, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Spencer. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday.
