Etta H. Stanley-Hemeon, age 96, of Johnstown, passed away on Monday, July 21, 2008 at Mountain Valley Hospice House, Gloversville, following a long illness.
She was born May 19, 1912 in the town of Caroga daughter of the late Stephen Hohler and Rina Moshier.
Etta was a member of the North Bush United Methodist Church, also a member of the Wesley-Philathea Class at the former First United Methodist Church Johnstown, a member of Eastern Star St. Monica Chapter # 486, a member of the Shirley Luck Senior Center in Johnstown.
She was employed at General Telephone Co. for 22 years and prior to that she was employed at Mohasco Industries in Amsterdam for 3 years.
Mrs. Hemeon was an airplane observer during WWII, and in the early 70's was a volunteer at Nathan Littauer Hospital.
Survivors include one daughter Louise Stock of Caroga Lake; a daughter-in-law Barbara La Rowe; two sister's Marion M. Gage of Johnstown and Ella Plantz of Gloversville; seven grandchildren William D. Stock and his wife Jennifer, Debra Subik and husband Steven, Judy Subik and husband Andrew, Robert F. Stock and his wife Sharon, Timothy Stock and wife Stacia, Linda Munio and husband Clifford, and Gary La Rowe; Seventeen great grandchildren, Two great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by a son Theodore Steven La Rowe, five sisters Louise Burr, Margaret Martish, Ethel Mussey, Viola Kovalovich, and Sara Stearns; two brothers Gilbert Mussey, and Nelson Mussey.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday at 1:00 p.m. from the A.G. Cole Funeral Home Inc. 215 East Main Street, Johnstown.
Friends and family may call on Friday prior to the services from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Cremation will be at Vale Crematory, Schenectady, and final interment will be in North Bush Cemetery.

Marriage vows were, exchanged July 12 at the Immaculate Conception Church in Johnstown by Miss Barbara Jean Skakel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Skakel of Johnstown, and John W. Plantz, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Plantz of Sammonsville. The Rev. John L.Mosconi solemnized the ceremony.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a gown, of organza over taffeta with a high rise neckline, fitted bodice adorned with venise lace, and long puffed sleeves with lace cuffs. The skirt terminated in a cathedral length train, and she carried an L-shaped cascade of roses and daisies.
Mrs. Eileen Walsh was matron of honor in a maize colored gown of dotted Swiss over taffeta. The fitted bodice featured a portrait neckline and brief sleeves; a soft A-line skirt was accented at the back by a panel formed by a double ruffle. A floor length veil fell from a matching dior bow, and she carried a basket of sweetheart roses and daisies.
Bridesmaids included Mrs. Cheryl Barnard, sister of the bride; Miss Judy Howenstein, Miss Bonnie MacNaughton and Miss Barbara Plantz, sister of the bridegroom. Laurie Skakel, The bride's cousin was flower girl. They were attired similarly to the matron of honor in romance blue and carried basket arrangements identical to Mrs. Walsh's.
John Carpenter served as best man, and seating the guests were. Gerald Barnard, Harry Hing, John Ferjanec and Richard Mussey, cousin of the bridegrom.
A reception was held at the Pine, Tree Rifle Club in Johnstown. Following a tour of the New England States, the newlyweds will return to 165D Glenview Apartments, Glenridge Road, Scotia, where they will
make their home.
The bride is a graduate of Johnstown High School and State University College at Potsdam where she was a member of Phi Kappa Pi Sorority. Formerly a teacher in the Corinth Central School System she will begin as an elementary teacher at Pashley School, Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake School System, in the fall. Also a graduate of Johnstown High School, her husband is studying in the Apprentice Training School at the General Electric Co.

Viola Kovalovich, 74, of North Bush Road, passed away Monday, September 8, 2003 at home after a long and courageous battle with cancer..
She was born April 30, 1929 in North Bush. Daughter of Edward and Irene Mosher Mussey.
She was employed at the former ACME Markets, Knox Gelatin, and Decca Records.
Vi served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of the Naval Choir.
She was well known for her knowledge of antiques and candle making.
Vi also served as the former Town of Caroga Clerk.
On August 14, 1958 she married Paul J. Kovalovich, in addition to her husband she is survived by three sons Andrew of Northville, Paul of Johnstown, and Daniel of Gloversville; three sisters Sarah Stearns of Goose Creek, South Carolina, Marian Gage of Johnstown,and Ella Plantz of Gloversville;One half sister Etta Stanley-Hemeon of Johnstown; five Grandchildren, nieces, nephews.
She was predeceased by three sisters Ethel Mussey, Margaret Martish, and Louise Burr; one brother Gilbert Mussey.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at the A.G. Cole Funeral Home Inc. 215 East Main Street, Johnstown. With Rev. R.W. Williams officiating.
Friends and family may call on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Interment will be in North Bush Cemetery.

Carrie L. Christman
Mrs. Carrie L. Christman, 80, of Gloversville, died Friday, April 16, 2004, at Nathan Littauer Hospital, Gloversville, following a long illness.
She was born November 24, 1923, in Gloversville, a daughter of the late Homer and Lula Mae Mosher Stock.
She was a 1941 graduate of Johnstown High School and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Johnstown & Gloversville and The Royal Mountain VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
Carrie was employed in the glove industry working for several local glove companies. She retired from the former Superb Glove Company.
On October 31, 1942, she married Harold B. Christman, and he died May 22, 2001.
Survivors include three sons, Grayford (Gerry) Christman and Ronald (Linda) Christman, both of Gloversville, William (Pat) Christman of Mayfield; two daughters, Eileen Wrightsman and Linda (Tom) Townsend, both of Gloversville; one brother, Earl Stock of Cold Brook, NY; two sisters, Hazel Rajchel of New Hartford and Loraine Oulrey of Bonita Springs, Florida; 13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the A.G. Cole Funeral Home Inc. 215 East Main Street, Johnstown.
Friends and family may call on Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Ferndale Cemetery, Johnstown.

Mr. Harold B. Christman, 82, of Gloversville, died Tuesday, May 22, at St. Mary's Hospital, Amsterdam, after a long illness.
He was born on May 24, 1918 in Ephratah, the son of Emory and Eula Brown Christman.
Mr. Christman was a graduate of Johnstown High School. He served in the Army during World War ll; he attained the rank of sergeant with Company A 802nd Tank Destroyer Unit.
Mr. Christman was employed as a glove cutter with several glove companies and later was a self-employed carpenter until his retirement.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Johnstown and Gloversville and served as past commander of the Royal Mountain Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7097.
Survivors include his wife, Carrie L. Stock Christman, whom he married on Oct. 31, 1942; three sons Greyford and Ronald Christman both of Gloversville, and William Christman of Mayfield; two daughters, Eileen Wrightsman and Linda Townsend, both of Gloversville; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandson, and cousins

Following the ceremony a reception was held at the home of the bride's parents with about seventy-five
relatives and friends attending.
Later in the day the newlyweds left on a short wedding trip to New York city and on their return will reside in Johnstown.

Hazel M. Rajchel, 78, of New Hartford, died on Tuesday, December 23, 2008, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center.
She was born on May 6, 1930, in Caroga, NY, a daughter of the late Homer and Mae Mosher Stock. She attended Johnstown High School. Hazel married Fred R. Rajchel in Johnstown, NY, a blessed union of 52 years. She began her working career at New York Telephone and Telegraph and retired from the Savings Bank of Utica. Hazel had a great love for animals, especially for her birds, dogs and cats. She also enjoyed collecting dolls.
She is survived by her husband, Fred Rajchel, of New Hartford; her children, Karen Lagasse and her husband, Ted, of Cape Cod, and Jeffrey Rajchel, of Salem, MA; her beloved grandchildren, Abigail, Rachel, Grant and Adam; a daughter-in-law, Lisa Rajchel, of Greenwich, CT; brother, Earl Stock and his wife, Connie, of Cold Brook; sister, Lorraine Oulrey and her husband, Sam, of Bonita Springs, FL; special cousins, Robert and Louise Stock; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Gregory J. Rajchel, and a sister, Carrie Christman.
The family would like to thank the staff on the 3rd floor at St. Elizabeth Medical Center for their excellent care and compassion shown to Hazel and the family.

Frank C. Putman, 27, of 136 Prospect Avenue, died at 11:45 this morning in Littauer Hospital from injuries sustained in an automobile accident early today on the Gloversville Mayfield Road.
Putman. who was admitted to the institution in a critical condition, was a passenger in an automobile operated by Howard O. Stott, East State Street Extension, Johnstown.
The only injuries incurred by Stott, it was reported, Were scratches to his hands.
The Prospect Avenue resident, who was treated at the accident scene by Dr. Philip. Horenstein, Mayfield. was admitted to the hospital with a fractured left arm, cerebral concussion and brain injury.
The accident occurred shortly after 2, about a half-mile south of Riceville.
According to thc State Police at the Mayfield sub-station, the Stott machine was traveling south towards Gloversville.
It failed to negotiate a left turn, knocked over 10 guard rails then moved over to the west shoulder of
the road.
The vehicle went over the embankment and rolled end over end, coming to rest right side up facing
north.
Putman was removed to the hospital by the Buyce Ambulance of Amsterdam.
Trooper E. J. Wels investigated the accident.
Mr. Putman was born in Gloversville on Jan. 8. 1927, and always resided here. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. James B. Putman, 54 James Street.
He waa a member of Fremont Street Methodist Church and the Glove District Motorcycle Riders Club.
He operated the P & M Fuel Company in Gloversville and Johnstown and was also a driver for the P & E Trucking Company on the Thruway. He was a veteran of World War II.
Besides his parents, he is survived by his wife. Hazel Stock Putman; two sisters, Mrs. Waller O'Grady of Burdette, N. Y., and Mrs. Clyde L, Bobbins, of Gloversville; several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at 2 Sunday afternoon at the Cole Funeral Home, 215 East Main Street, Johnstown. The Rev. Jesse S. Greene of Fremont Methodist Church, will officiate.
Burial will he In Prospect Hill Cemetery.

Miss Rose Marie Cortese, her attendant, wore aqua nylon net with matching headpiece, and carried a colonial bouquet of yellow pompons.
The best man was Richard Johnson.
The bride's mother wore powder blue with navy accessories, and the bridegroom's mother a green two piece dress with red accessories. Each had a corsage of roses.
A reception followed at the bride's home in Rockwood after which the newlyweds left on a trip to Florida.
For traveling the bride wore a light blue suit with navy accessories, white hat and corsage of red roses.

The matron of honor, Mrs. Hazel Putman. sister of the bride, wore a gown of orchid net and a matching headpiece of seed pearls. She carried a colonial bouquet.
Orville Bradt brother of the bridegroom, was best man. Earl Stock brother of the bride, and Delbert Bradt, brother of the bridegroom, were ushers.
The bride's mother wore royal blue with black accessories and a corsage of red roses. The bridegroom's mother was attired in mink brown with beige and brown accessories and a corsage of yellow roses.
A reception followed at Blodgett's grove, where the the coulpe cut a four-tier cake.
The newlyweds left on a trip to an unnanounced destination, and on their return, will reside with the bridegroom's parents in Meco. Ther bride's going-away outfit was a red wool jersey dress with black accessories and an orchid corsage.
The bride attended Johonstown High School and is employed by the Supurb Glove Company.
Mr. Bradt, a graduate of Gloversville High School, conducts a trucking and blacktop paving business.

Mrs. Joan Forbes 74 of 144 State Rt 29A Salisbury Center, died unexpectedly on Thursday September 29th, 2016 at her residence.
Joan was born in Little Falls, on October 21, 1941, the daughter of John and Clarice (Lamphere) Getman and was educated in a country school, in Lassellsville, town of Ephratah.
She was united in marriage to Truman Forbes on August 23, 1974 in the Community Baptist Church in Poland, New York. Mr. Forbes predeceased her on January 2, 2009.
Joan at one time was employed by the Tricot Manufacturing Company of Dolgeville.
She was known by her family as a “Jack of All Trades”, and for her cooking and ability in camping and fishing. Her upmost priority was her family and her grandchildren.
She is survived by her Daughters Vicki of Dolgeville, Melissa (Michael) Lewis of Stratford, Suzanne Comins and her companion John Wellington of Middleville, Sandra (Philip) Keeler of Dolgeville, her sisters Sharon Duesler of Dolgeville, Deborah Kapler of St. Johnsville, Betty Randall of Dolgeville, Doreen Wells of Lassellsville and Rosalyn Boyer of Oregon, her brothers John, Dayton, Wallace, William, Kevin and Gary Getman, several Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren and Nieces and Nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and a daughter Patricia.
Graveside services will be held in the Michael Cemetery, Kingsbush Road Lassellsville, town of Ephratah.

He graduated from Poland Central School and started his employment at Remington Arms, Ilion, shortly after. On August 23, 1974, Truman was united in marriage with the former Joan M. Getman at the Community Baptist Church in Poland. Currently employed at Remington Arms, he was a dedicated employee having worked in various departments for over 40 years. Truman served as a little league coach in Poland in his earlier years and was an avid outdoorsman.
Survivors besides his wife of 35 years, Joan, include five daughters, Patricia Moore and her husband, Kevin of Dolgeville, Vicki Herringshaw of Salisbury, Melissa Lewis and her husband, Mike of Stratford, Suzanne Commins and her companion, John of Middleville and Sandra Keeler and her husband, Philip of Dolgeville; four sisters, Elizabeth Stewart of Newport, Joyce Rotach and her husband, Kenneth of North Lawrence, Sandra Ludwig and her husband, Charles of Frankfort and Diana Schaffer and her companion, Dean Borden of Cold Brook; his step-mother, Dorothy (Mykel) Forbes of Deerfield; 19 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Larry.
In accordance with Truman's wishes there will be no public services. A private graveside service will be held in the spring at North Gage Cemetery, Town of Deerfield. 1/3/2009LITTLE FALLS — A Little Falls man has died from injuries he received in a crash the afternoon of New Year's Eve, State Police in Herkimer said Monday.
Truman R. Forbes, 61, was traveling east on State Route 29 in the Town of Fairfield at about 2:05 p.m. when he passed a snowplow heading the other way. Blowing snow caused a whiteout and Forbes's car drifted into the westbound lane, where he collided with an oncoming tractor trailer, police said. The tractor trailer was driven by David Batchelor of Baldwinsville, police said.
Forbes was conscious and alert at the accident scene, but complained of abdominal pain, police said. He was taken to St. Elizabeth Medical Center and admitted, but died Jan. 2, police said.
