- Newspaper Article (The Morning Herald, Johnstown, NY, Monday, September 25, 1916)
While on his way to this city to spend the week-end with his wife, who resides with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Abram Frederick, at 50 Mill street, John B. Moynehan. thirty years old, a highway contractor, with headquarters at Mohawk, was killed Saturday night when the automobile which he was driving skidded on the muddy road six miles north of North River, Warren county and went over an embankment. Mr. Moynehan sustained a broken neck and was dead, still clinging to the wheel, whan his companions, O. V. Wood of North Creek and a man named Smith of Indian Lake, who were riding in the car, went to his assistance.
According to reports received here, the machine was being driven by Moynehan at a moderate rate of speed over a comparatively level road from Indian Lake, bound for this city. The road being covered so deeply with mud, it is difficult to tell just what happened, but it is believed that the rear wheel left the roadway and the car, swerving suddenly, turned over and landed in a field a few feet below. The machine evidently had turned completely over after throwing out the other two occupants, for when Smith and Wood ran to help Moynehan, they found him dead, sitting in the driver's seat and clinging to the wheel, the car in an upright position.
About a year ago, Mr. Moynehan, who was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Moynehan of Mohawk, was united in marriage to Miss Almeda Frederick, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Abram Frederick of Mill street. Since her marriage Mrs. Moynehan has continued to reside here, managing her father's business as heretofore. Both before and after, his marriage, Mr. Moynehan was a frequent visitor in Johnstown and has many warm friends here who will be greatly shocked and deeply grieved to learn of his sudden and tragic death.
"Jack" Moynehan, as the young man was known by his intimates, was a decidedly likeable companion, his genial manner and Jovial disposition making him the life of any gathering of which he was a member. Possessing exceptional business ability and particularly fitted for his line of endeavor, he had met with marked success and his untimely death brings to an end a career that gave much promise. Mrs. Moynehan has the sincere sympathy of her many friends in the sad bereavement which has overtaken her.
Bom in Utica, Mr. Moynehan had lived for the last fifteen years in Mohawk where he had extensive interests as a contractor. He was a graduate of the Albany Business college and a greater part of his time was devoted to road building work in which line he was recognised as one of the foremost in this section of the state.
Up until a late hour last night Mrs. Moynehan had received no further details than those given above and no arrangements for the funeral have yet been made.

Marriage Notes for Alfraetta B Frederick and John Harley McNeal
- Wedding Announcement (The Fulton County Republican, Johnstown, NY, Thursday, August 22, 1907)
A brilliant wedding took place Thursday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Abram Frederick, No. 50 Mill street, when their youngest daughter, Miss Alfraetta Brownell Frederick and John Harley McNeal of Iberia, O., were united in marriage. The ceremony was performed by Rev. C. W. Leitzell, pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran church, at eight o'clock in the presence of about seventy-five guests, the full ring service being used. Miss Almeda Frederick, sister of the bride, was the maid of honor while Michael J. Stoller was the best man.
At the time above mentioned Gouldings' full orchestra rendered the harmonious strains of the bridal chorus from Lohengrin, which announced the approach of the wedding Party from the hall above. The ushers were James W. Taylor and Leonard J. Allen of Gloversville who preceded the clergyman and wedding party to the bay window in the living room, where amid a bowerof floral decorations, the nuptial knot was tied by the officiating clergyman. The orchestra rendered "O, Promise Me," during the ceremony.
The entire home showed the artistic effect of the decorator. The color throughout was of green and white. The interior arrangements were exceptionally pretty. The bay window where the ceremony took place was partly hidden from view by draperies of running pine, dropping upon two large banks of ferns, palms, potted plants and white rose; while directly in the center and suspended from above was a handsome white floral bell making the effect most pleasing. The green and white predominated throughout the other rooms with here and there the harmonious blending of potted plants of different hues. The balustrade was twined with running pine as were the chandeliers while the same verdant colors swung in graceful festoons above the dorways and arches of the home.
The bride and her attendant appeared most charming. The former who is tall and graceful, wore a gown of white point d'esprit over white taffeta which was trimmed with baby Irish lace. She carried a large bouquet of white bride's roses and wore a coronet of orchids. The maid of honor wore pink, her gown being of Diana silk trimmed with lace and she carried pink roses.
At the conclusion of the ceremony the congratulations and best wishes of the assembled guests were bestowed upon the happy couple after which the evening was passed in a most delightful manner by all. A sumptuous wedding repast was served under the direction of Caterers Mrs. A. E. Wells of Gloversville The wedding party was served in the dining room where the color scheme of the bride prevailed and the scene was most fascinating. The guests were served in the other rooms.
Later when the bride left the guests to go up stairs and don her traveling suit which consisted of a handsome cedar brown chiffon Panama with hat to match, she tossed her bouquet which was caught by Miss Nina Evans of Gloversville, who according to tradition is destined to become a bride within a year. Shortly after ten o'clock Mr. and Mrs. McNeal appeared and amid the showers of rice, confetti and old shoes, each missive intended by the thrower to carry the very best of luck and good wishes, they departed in a carriage for Fonda whence they boarded a train for Utica. A number of their friends accompanied them to Fonda amd gave them a rousing send-off.
