FORT PLAIN—Mrs. Mary E. Nellis, 53. years, died at 12:80 Saturday morning at St. Marys hospital, Amsterdam, where she had been a patient for the past several weeks. Mrs. Nellis was born October 2, 1878 in the Town of Palatine the daughter ot Martin Shults and Mary Snell Shults. The survivors are two sons, Benjamin Nellis of Stone Arabia and Peter Nellis of Fort Plain, four sisters, Mrs. Byron Christman of Fonda and Miss Lelah Shults, Mrs. Charles Bauder, Mrs. Reuben Empie all of Fort Plain; six brothers, Ezra Shults, Manly Shults, Arthur Shults, Martin Shults of Fort Plain and Earl Shults, Harry Shults of Stone Arabia.
The funeral will be held Monday at 2 P. M. at her home on Willett street, the Rev. E. R. Kruizenga, pastor of the Reformed church officiating. Interment in the Fort Plain cemetery.

FORT PLAIN - Martin Shults, 59, died recently in an Amsterdam hospital. Mr. Shults was born in the town of Palatine Aug. 26. 1882, the son of Martin and Mary Snell Shults and had spent his entire life in this vicinity. He was a farmer and also conducted a sand and gravel pit on the River road just west of the village of Fort Plain.
He is survived by his wife, the former Marie Fonda; three sons. Manly of Stone Arabia, Martin Leonard and Charles of Fort Plain; two daughters. Miss Gertrude Shults and Miss Margaret Shults who live at home; several grandchildren; three brothers, Arthur Shults of Fort Plain, Harry and Earl Shults of Palatine Bridge; one half brother, Ezra Shults, Fort Plain; three sisters, Mrs. Charles Bauder, Mrs. Reuben Empie and Miss Lelah Shults, all of Fort Plain, and one half sister, Mrs, Byron Christman. Fort Plain.

FORT PLAIN - Mrs. Edna Shults Empie, 73, widow of Reuben Empie, died Monday afternoon in St, Mary's Hospital, Amsterdam, where she had been a patient several weeks.
BORN IN THE Town of Palatine Feb. 23, 1883, the daughter of Martin and Mary Snell Shults, she resided in Fort Plain many years. She was a member of the Reformed church here.
Survivors are two daughters, Misses Mary and Mildred Empie, and two sons, Manfred and Alton Empie, and one granddaughter, all of this village.
THE FUNERAL SERVICE will be held today at 2 p.m., at the Gray Funeral home with Rev. John Pelon, pastor of the Reformed Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Fort Plain cemetery.

Reuben Empie, a farmer living at Stone Arabia, was working in his fields during the recent hot wave when he suddenly complained to the men working with him that the heat was affecting his head and that he was going to quit for the day. A few hours later he was found lying beside a fence some distance from his home, his mind having been overbalanced by the heat. Reuben J Empie, 62, former resident of the Town of Ephratah and Fort Plain, died suddenly from a heart attack yesterday afternoon in Utica where he had been employed for about 20 years.
He was bom Feb, 6, 1887 in the Town of Palatine, a son of Clark and Elizabeth Gray Empie.
The survivors are his wife, Mrs Edns Shults Empie Fort Plain; two daughters. Miss Mae Empie, Fort Plain, aad Miss Mildred Empie, Albany; two sons, Manfred and Alton Empie of Fort Plain: one grandchild; one brother Alton Empie Sharon Springs, one stater, Mrs. Mae Abel, Ephratah and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 at the Swartz funeral home. The Rev. Chester Chilton of the Reformed church Will officiate. Burial will be in the Ephratah Rural Cemetery.

FORT PLAIN'—Manfred Empie, 59, of 28 Clark Ave., a teller at the Fort Plain National Bank for 40 years, died June 25 in Bassett Hospital, Cooperstown.
He was born in the Town of Palatine. He married Leona Dygert in 1939. Mr. Empie was a councilman on the Minden Town Board and a Republican committeeman. He was a World War II veteran, a member of Reformed Church. Otsquago Fish and Game Club, and Fort Plain American Legion.
Besides his wife he leaves two sisters, Mrs. Don Pardee, Scotia, and Miss Mae Empie, Fort Plain and Schenectady.
The funeral will be at 2 Friday from the Gray Funeral Home. Burial will be in Fort Plain Cemetery.

FORT PLAIN - Miss Nora Empie, 65, of 62 1/2 Division Street, died early yesterday morning at St. Clare's Hospital, Schenectady, where she had been a patient the last two weeks.
She was born on Feb. 18, 1911, in the Town of Palatine, the daughter of Reuben and Edna Shults Empie. She was a graduate of Fort Plain High School and was employed for 45 years by the General Ice Cream Corporation in Fort Plain and in Schenectady, retiring about three years ago.
Miss Empie was a member of the Fort Plain Reformed Church, its Mission Society, and was affiliated with the Senior Citizens.
She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Donald Pardee of Scotia; a niece, an uncle and several cousins.
