  ILION — John J. Edick, 79, died today in his home, Upper Otsego St., Ilion RD 2, after a long illness.
  He was born Nov. 6, 1875, in the Town of Columbia, son of Philo and Helen Getman Edick. He married Blanche DeGarmo on Nov. 3, 1897 in the Town of Columbia.
  Mr. Edick came to Ilion from, the Town of Columbia in 1921 and had since been a partner in Edick's Garage. He was a member of North Columbia Methodist Church, Ilion Lodge, F & AM, and the Litchfield Grange.
  Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, Ross and Ralph, Ilion; one brother, Floyd P. of Paterson, N. J.; one nephew, two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
  Services will be conducted at 2 p. m. Wednesday from the home, with interment in Armory Hill Cemetery

  ILION—Mrs, Blanche D. Edick 81, widow of John J. Edick, died today in her home, Upper Otsego St., after a long illness.
  She was born Feb. 25, 1878, in the Town of Columbia, daughter of Austin and Ellen Ross DeGarmo. She was married in 1897 and Mr. Edick died in 1954. A resident of this vicinity all of her life, she was a member of the North Columbia Methodist Church.
  She leaves two sons, Ross J. and Ralph D., both of Ilion; two grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren.
  Services, in charge of Applegate Funeral Home, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday from late home and interment will be in Armory Hill Cemetery.

  Ilion—In observance of their golden wedding anniversary, Mr. and Mrs. John Edick, Otsego St., were guests of honor at a family party given Sunday by their two sons in Utica.
  Mr. and Mrs. Edick, natives of North Columbia, were married Nov. 3, 1897, in the home of the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Austin DeGarmo, with the Rev. M. L. Baker officiating. Of the attendants, three are still living. They are the best man, Floyd Edick, a brother of the bridegroom; an usher, Floyd Haggerty, and three flower girls, Mrs. Lena White Lucy, Mrs. Mae Edick Walrath and Mrs. Allie Mae Beebe.
  Until 1921, the Edicks were engaged in farming in Columbia Township when they moved to Ilion where the father joined his sons, Ross and Ralph, in business.
  Mr. and Mrs. Edick are members of the North Columbia Methodist church, and Mr. Edick is affiliated with the Ilion Masonic Lodge.

  Ilion — Eugene H. Crisman, 77, died unexpectedly yesterday in his home in Spinnerville.
  He was born July 15, 1872, in Paines Hollow, a son of Boyd H. and Helen Miller Crisman, and had lived in Spinnerville since 1883. At one time he operated a meat market in this village.
  He married Margaret Cole, whom he leaves with one son, Lee F. of Spinnerville; one grandson; one sister, Mrs. Flora Barger, Ilion and one brother, Arleigh, Bearboo, Wis.
  Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p. m. from the Whiter Funeral Home with a reader from the First Church of Christ Scientist, Herkimer, officiating. Burial will be in North Columbia Cemetery.

  Ross E. Stroupe,- 36, Cedsrville, former employee of Remington Rand, Inc., died Friday in a Utica hospital after a long illness.
  Mr. Stroup was born in Columbia, son of David and Myra Edick Stroup. He attended Columbia and Cedarville schools and worked in the typewriter plant for several years. He was a member of the Methodist church in Columbia Center.
  Besides his parents, he leaves a brother, Lynn, and a grandmother, Mrs. Daniel Stroup, all of Cedarville. The Rev. Earl D. Ridgeway officiated and burial was in Cedarville.

  Arthur (Art) Getman, 77 of 1 Milligan St., Little Falls, a long time Little Falls resident, passed away on Wednesday afternoon June 20, 2001 in Little Falls Hospital. Art was born on Jan 6, 1924 in Columbia Center, son of the late Albert J. and Hazel (Freeman) Getman. He received his education in Ilion schools. He lived in Ilion and Herkimer at one time until moving to Little Falls. Art and Elizabeth A Peeler were joined in marriage at First United Methodist Church in Herkimer on May 8, 1966 by the Rev. Fred Cotnam. He was last employed as a custodian for the Little Falls Baptist Academy and also worked for the former Snyder Bicycle Co., the former Standard Desk Co. of Herkimer and the Little Falls Evening Times. He was of the Baptist faith and attended the First Baptist Church of Little Falls. Art is survived by his wife of 35 years, Elizabeth; a sister, Janet Parslow of Howes Cave; and several nieces and nephews. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family and pay their respects at the Enea Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe St., Little Falls on Saturday morning, June 23 from 10-11 a.m. Art's funeral will commence at 11 a.m. from the Enea Funeral Home, Little Falls, on Saturday morning, June 23, where prayer will be offered by Rev. Donald Dixon, pastor of the First Baptist Church, Little Falls. Procession will follow to Mountain View Memorial Gardens where Art will be laid to rest.

  ILION - John Wolcott Getman, 89, of 18 Gordon Place, Herkimer County land agent 27 years until his retirement in 1962, died yesterday in Herkimer Memorial Hospital.
  He was born in the Town of German Flatts, son of Charles and Ada Wolcott Getman. He was twice married.  His first wife, Ida Getman, whom he married in 1903, died in 1931. He later married Bessie Seckner. She died in 1965.
  Mr. Getman was a 50 year member.of the Ilion Masonic Lodge and the North Columbia Methodist Church. For 14 years, he was Justice of the Peace, tax collector, and supervisor for the Town of Columbia.
  He leaves two sons. Lynn Getman, llion, and Charles Getman of Cortland.
  Funeral services will be at 10:30 tomorrow from the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home. Burial will be in North Columbia Cemetery. Calling hours are from 7 to 9 tonight.
  Masonic services will be conducted at 7:30 tonight at the funeral home.

  Ilion, Jan. 29. — Ida Lurania, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fayette Lurania, and John W. Getman were married at the home of the bride's parents in Otsego street, at 8 o'clock last evening. The ceremony, which was performed by the Rev. S. O. Parent of Voorheesvllle, assisted by the Rev. W. C. Taylor of this village, was a pretty one, and was witnessed by about 50 friends and relatives of both parties. Miss Ina C. Getman, twin sister of the bride, was bridesmaid, and George B. Getman acted as best man. Immediately after the ceremony a delightful wedding dinner was served. The bride was the recipient of many beautiful and costly gifts. She is a much respected young resident of This vtilage and is very popular. The groom is a well known resident of North Columbia, where he holds a large acquaintance, being engaged in farming. Mr. and Mrs. Getman left on the evening train for New York and New Jersey, where their honeymoon will be spent. On their return they will reside at North Columbia.

  Ilion - Mrs. Bessie M. Getman, 76, of 18 Gordon Pl. former stenographer for the Herkimer Board of Supervisors and County Court, died yesterday in a Utica hospital.
   She was born in Chepachet. She was married to John W. Getman in 1933 at Senica Falls. At one time she was stenographer for the late attorney Charles Earl, She came to Ilion 32 years ago. Mrs. Getman was a member of the First Univeralist Church, Herkimer.
  Besides her husband she leaves three step-sons, Lynn, Ilion; Howard, Schenectady, and Charles, San Jose, California.
  The funeral will be at 2 Thursday from the Whittier - Hendrix Funeral Hme with the Rev. James R. Dickinson, pastor of North Columbia Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Cedarville Cemetery.

  Cornelius Edick, 72, retired farmer, died April 6, 1955 at his home RD 1 Town of Columbia, following a long illness.
  He was born Oct 10, 1882 in the Town of Columbia, son of John and Ettie Harwick Edick. On March 7, 1906 he married Bertha Hopkinson in the South Columbia Methodist Church. She died 32.years ago.
  He leaves three daughters, Mrs. Fayette Snyder, Fort Plain; Mrs. William Land and Mrs. Charles Chamberlain, both of Brldgewater; five sons, Elon, Kenneth, and John, all at home; Stanley, Bridgewater, Cornelius Jr., Richfield Springs; 20 grandchildren and six greatgrandchildren.
  The funeral was from the McGrath Funeral Home, the Rev. C. Frederick Fraser officiating and burial in the Columbia Center Cemetery.

 South Columbia ... The funeral of Mrs. Cornelius Edick was held at her late home Sunday at 2 p. m., and a large gathering of neighbors and friends were assembled. The beautiful casket and many floral emblems could not mitigate the sadness of the occasion and Mr. Peck of the Millers Mills Baptist Church could only give practical advice to the living. The deceased was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Hopkinson and would have reached the 43rd milestone August 5th. She is survived by her husband. Cornelius Edick, and eight children in the home and by two brothers,
Eugene and Jay of this place, and four sisters. Mrs. Mina House, Bridgewater, Mrs. Arlie Hoak, Columbia, Mrs. Sylvia Monroe, Fultonville, and Mrs. Clara White. Utica, who have the sympathy of the entire community.

  Mrs. Perry A. Miller, prominent Rome Clubwoman, died this morning at 8:15 o'clock at her home, 204 Maple St., of complications following an illness of several months.
  For nearly a decade Mrs. Miller had been prominently identified with the Twigs, the Wednesday Morning Club and the Woman's Club, holding important offices in each. She is a past president of the Twigs and also of her own twig, the Cherry.
  Since 1927 Mrs. -Miller had been on the executive board of the Woman's Club and at the time of her death was also assistant recording secretary. She was on the executive board of the Wednesday Morning Club as well as being its assistant recording secretary. She also had served as the club's recording secretary.
  Mrs. Miller had taken active part in activities of the three organizations and had served on numerous committees sponsoring activities of the individual units. Her services, which had been of great help to the progress of the clubs, had been deeply appreciated by members and officers of the societies to which she belonged.
  Prior to her marriage to Mr. Miller, Mrs. Miller was engaged in secretarial capacities at Columbia University, Cooper Union Institute and the Collegiate Institute at New York.
  Ruth Johnston Hakes was born at Ilion, August 9, 1889, daughter of Mrs. Marion Irlam Hakes of Ilion and the late Seward Hakes and was married to Mr. Miller on September 15, 1925.
  A daughter, Marion Seward Miller, at home, was born to the couple. She was a graduate of llion High School and of Barnard College at Columbia University.
  Besides her husband, daughter and mother, Mrs. Miller leaves three sisters, Mrs. Goodsell Herron and Mrs. John E. Dale of East Orange, N. J., and Miss Elizabeth G. Hakes of Geneseo, N. Y.
  She attended Zion Episcopal Church.

  Perry A. Miller, 69, of 210 W. Embargo St., died a t 6:30 a. m. today in the Rome Hospital, where he had been a patient since the middle of December.
  He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Clayton Pritchett, Maplewood, N. J., a sister, Mrs. Mary M. Murdock, Locke, N. Y.; a nephew, Walter L. Murdock jr., also of Locke, and three nieces.
  Mrs. Pritchett, the former Marian Miller, was married last Saturday and is on her honeymoon. Mr. Miller, an employee of Wardwell's Hardware Co., was born in Dennison's Corners, Herkimer County, on Jan. 30 1882, son of Clark A. and Fannie Van Slyke Miller. On Sept. 15, 1925 he married Ruth Johnston Hakes who passed away in Rome March 19, 1935.
  He came to Rome in 1914 and went to work for Wardwell's. In 1922 he purchased the former Rome Hardware and Implement Co. in the 200 block of W. Dominick St., remaining there until he returned to Wardwell's in 1933.
  Mr. Miller was a 1906 graduate of Hamilton College, where he received an A. B. degree, and was a member of Psi Upsilon Fraternity there.
  He was an active membe r of Zion Episcopal. Church, having served on the Vestry as a warden, teacher in the Sunday School and on the Boy Scout committee.
  He belonged to the Ignotus Club and Rome Historical Society. A Mason, he was a member of Hathaway Lodge, F&AM: Iroquois Chapter. RAM. Herkimer, of which he was the oldest living past high priest; Rome Commandery, Knights Templar, which he served as commander several years ago

  Ilibn. Sept. 5—Perry A. Miller of Rome and Miss Ruth Hakes, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Seward Hakes, 25 Maple Place, Ilion, married at 3 o'clock this afternoon at St. Augustine's Episcopal Church. Ilion, by the rector, Rev. Lloyd R. Benson. They were attended by Miss Marion Hakes, sister of the bride, and Samuel Wardwell of Rome.
  Mr. Miller has made his home since moving to Rome from Herkimer several years ago, with his mother, at 204 Maple street. His father was the late Charles M. Miller.
  Ushers at the wedding were Alton Hakes, brother of the bride, and Ray Miller, brother of the
bridegroom, both of Ilion.
  The wedding march was played by John Lundbald of Rome and Julia E. Dale of Oswego. Mrs. Percy Grant of Ilion gave the organ prelude. Walter Griswold of Ilion played the piano during the ceremony.
  A reception was held at the home of the bride's parents.

  John E. Dale, 95, of the Meadows, New Hartford, died Nov. 24 in the Presbyterian Home for Central New York, Inc.
  He was born Dec. 6, 1889, in Chicago, Ill., the son of Charles J. and Lena Elkins Dale. On Aug. 28, 1919, in Ilion, he married Jane Qualtrough Hakes. From 1915-1929, he was in the jewelry business in Oswego. From 1929 until his retirement in 1958, he was a salesman with Interstate Shade Cloth Co. in Hoboken, N.J. The Dales previously lived in Oswego,
Maplewood, N.J., Indian Lake, and Geneseo, residing in New. Hartford since 1973. Mr. Dale was a radio man with the U.S. Navy on the Battleship Indiana during World War I and was a member of the New Hartford Presbyterian Church.
  Surviving besides his wife, Jane, is one son, John E. Dale, Jr. of Clinton; one daughter, Marion Pritchett of Charlotte, N.C.; five grandchildren, Keren Pritchett, Betsy Pritchett, Dale Pritchett, Steven Dale and Susan Dale Northrup; five greatgrandchildren, Seth Dale, Noah
Dale, Isaac Dale, Kurt Gantert and Jed Gantert. He was predeceased by two sisters, Edith Dale in 1921 and Ruth Dale Miller in 1935.
  Memorial services were Friday afternoon from the Surridge & Jacobson Memorial Home, Inc., with the Rev: Richard L. Manzelmann officiating. Private interment was at the convenience of the family in Armory Hill Cemetery, Ilion.
  In his memory, persons may consider their favorite charity.
