Evelyn O. Riley, 89, of Cherryvale, Kansas passed away Friday, January 27, 2012 at the Cherryvale Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Cherryvale.
Celebration of Life Services will be held 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at Potts Chapel of Cherryvale with Reverend Jeff McCullough of First Baptist Church of Cherryvale, officiating. Friends may sign the register book from 12Noon until 8 P.M. Monday, January 30, 2012 with the family receiving friends from 6P.M. until 7P.M. Interment will be held in Fairview Cemetery in Cherryvale.
Memorial remembrances are suggested to the First Baptist Church of Cherryvale or to Multiple Sclerosis Society and they may be left and Potts Chapel of Cherryvale.
Evelyn Odeline Riley was born October 10, 1922 at Cherryvale, Kansas the daughter of Oda and Rose Bozarth. She grew up in Cherryvale and attended schools in Cherryvale. On June 14, 1947 at Cherryvale she was united in marriage to Sherman "Albert" Riley Jr. and he preceded her in death February 14, 2007.
Evelyn lived most her life in Cherryvale and was a homemaker.
Survivors include, one daughter, Denise Majewski and her husband George of Independence, Kansas, one son, Don Johnson of Paola, Kansas, three grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Jessie F. Miller, 65, who retired in 1932, after 35 years service as a state power engineer, died at his home, 62 Partridge street last night after a brief illness. He had been chief engineer at the Capitol powerhouse for 25 years.
Mr. Miller was born in Columbia Center, Herkimer County. He was educated in Ridgefield, and worked in the municipal powerhouse there. He was appointed "chief engineer at State hospital, Sonyea, in 1892. After nine years there he was made inspector of power engines in institutions directed by the Department of Mental Hygiene. In 1907 he was appointed chief engineer at the Capitol.
Mr. Miller was a member of Mt. Morris Lodge of Masons. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary Rourke Miller; a daughter, Mrs. John Burt, and a son, J. Floyd Miller, who is Putnam County engineer, under the State Health department.
Funeral services will be at 2 p. m. Friday from the home. The Rev. Theodore O. Posselt, of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran church, willofficiate. Burial will be in Albany Rural cemetery. M. W. Tebbutt's Sons are in charge of funeral arrangements.

She was bom on March 15,1901, in the Town of German Flatts, the daughter of Henry and Eva Klock Helmer and attended the Town of.Columbia School. Mrs. Gage owned and operated the Gage Farm with her husband for many years.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Raymond and Katherine Gage of Mohawk, R.D. #1; a sister, Mrs. Evalina Pett of Ilion R.D.; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two nephews; two nieces and two cousins.

MOHAWK - Ray E. Gage, 82, of RD 1, Route 28, a retired farmer, died Thursday, June 26, 1980.
He was born June 10,1899, the son of Charles and Maggie Spohn Gage. He was married to Bertha Helmer on September 8, 1920 in North Columbia. For most of his life Mr. Gage operated his own farm. He attended the Methodist Church and was a member of the Mohawk Masonic Lodge, 276; the Iroquois Chapter Royal Arch Masons #236.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Raymond of Mohawk; one sister, Mrs Martha House of Columbia Center; one brother, Roy Gage of Ilion; six grandchildren; one niece; one nephew and several cousins.

He was born on October 15, 1898 in the Town of Warren, the son of Howard and Bertha Skinner Pett, and attended schools in the Town of Columbia On June 28, 1923, he was married to Evalena Helmer in Mohawk. Mr Pett was a member of the Cedarville People's Undenominational Church and the Rural Letter Carriers Association.
Survivors include his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Joseph (Shirley) Kuba, RD 1, llion; one son Robert Pett. RD 1 llion; one sister. Miss Lillian Pett, Herkimer, seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; four nieces, one nephew; and one cousin.

The bride is a graduate of the Oneonta Normal and of the Mohawk High School of the year 1919, when she was valedictorian of the class. She has been a member of the Ilion school faculty for the last year. The groom is mail clerk on a rural rout out of Ilion. both are very popular young people and a host of friends will extend hearty congratulations. ILION — Mr and Mrs Harold C. Pett, Ilion Gorge, were honored recently on their 50th wedding anniversary, with an open house June 30 at the home of their daughter, Mrs Joseph Kuba, also of Ilion Gorge. More than a hundred friends and relatives attended.
Mr. and Mrs. Pett were married June 28, 1923 in the Mohawk Reformed Church parsonage by the Rev. Arthur Boynton. Mrs. Pett is the former Evalena K. Helmer. Both have been area residents all their lives.
Mr. Pett is a retired rural mail carrier, operating out of the Ilion Post Office.
They have two children, Mrs. Joseph (Shirley) Kuba and Robert H. Pett, both of Ilion, and seven grandchildren, Mrs. Ronald (Anne) Farrington, Jean and Paul Kuba. all of Ilion; Stephen Messer, Polo, Ill.; and Diana, Carol and Marilyn Pett, of Ilion; two great grandchildren, Kenny and Vincent Higgins.

Sehuylerville — Miss Marjorie L. Yaw, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald B. Yaw, Wall St., West Winfield, became the bride of Robert H. Pett, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold C. Pett, Ilion, RD 1 Saturday, Aug. 3, at 2 p.m. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Richard Grant, pastor of the Undenomination Church, Cedarville.
Wedding music was played by Miss Marilyn Kellow, West Winfield, which included "Because" and "O Promise Me."
Decorations at the church were white candles and white gladioli. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a floor-length gown of white nylon with Chantilly lace overtop, fashioned with a Sabrina neckline and bouffant skirt. Her shoulder-length veil was caught to a crown of seed pearls. She carried a white orchid on a prayerbook. The maid of honor, Miss Paula Stevens, Cooperstown, wore a yellow ballerina-length gown with matching headpiece and carried yellow mums.
Mrs. Edward Mosher,. Syracuse, sister of the bride, was matron of honor. She wore an orchid nylon ballerina-length gown, matching headpiece and carried yellow mums.
The flower girl was Roxanne Mosher, niece of the bride. She wore a pale green gown and carried a basket of gladioli. The ringbearer was Paul Kuba, nephew of the bridegroom.
The best man was Joseph Kuba, brother-in-law of the bridegroom. William Yaw, brother of the bride, West Winfield, was an usher.
For her daughter's wedding, Mrs. Yaw wore a street-length dress of navy blue, white accessories and a corsage of white carnations. The bridegroom's mother wore an aquamarine dress with white accessories and a corsage of white carnations.
A reception was held on the lawn at the home of the bridegroom's parents.
The couple left on a two-weeks trip to Canada. They are now residing with the bridegroom's parents in Ilion, RD 1. Mrs. Pett was graduated from West Winfield Central School, Cortland State Teachers College, and was physical education teacher at the Schuylerville Central School during the past year and will be in the Little Falls School system this year.
Mr. Pett was graduated from West Winfield Central School, served two years ia the Army and is presently employed at the Sperry Rand Co., Ilion.

Burr R. Getman, 86, of Hastings, Rutland Townshiop, passed away, Thursday, May 27, 2004 at his home.
Burr R. Getman was born May 2, 1918 at Honor, Michigan, the son of Burr Nelson and Alma A. (Randolph) Getman.
He was a veteran of World War II, where he served in the United States Army in the South Pacific.
He was a member of the Nashville V.F.W. Post 8260 and Hickory Corners American Legion Post.
He was an outdoor enthusiast, enjoyed hunting mushrooms in the spring of he year, fishing and he enjoyed playing cards.
He was employed by United Steel and Wire in Battle Creek, for 31 years as Press Operator.
He is survived by two nephews, Joe Smith of Saranac, Paul Smith of Delton, his best friend, David M. Allen of Nashville, two sisters, Ardith McFarland of Florida and Nelsena of Ohio. He will be missed by all his friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marguerite F. Getman and a brother, Gaylord Getman.
According to his wishes, there will be no Service or Visitation.
Interment will be at Champion Hill Cemetery, Honor, Michigan.

Nelson J. Getman, 66, of 41 Joprdan St., died late Sunday at his home after an illness of 2 1/2 years.
Mr. Getman had been a resident of Battle Creek for 48 years. He was employed for 43 years at Post Division of General Foods, where he was a chief power engineer.
He was a member of the 25 year club at Post and a membe rof the Post Cereal Engineer Club.
Mr. Getman was born Dec. 27, 1902, in Empire, Mich., the son of George and Mabel (Bowen) Getman.
Survivors include his wife, the former Josephine Pickels; three daughters, Mrs. S. L. (Marie) Worley of Welch, W. Va., Mrs. Robert (Barbara) harpsteen of 80 S. McKinley St., and Mrs. Jack (Phyllis) Boswell of 148 S. LaVista Blvd.; and one son James R. Getman of 34 Bond St.; 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
