Ed Young, farmer from the vicinity of Westmore, died on last Wednesday at a local hospital, following a long period of ill health. Funeral services were held on Saturday at Westmore, with the Rev. H. Roy Phillippi officiating, and interment was made in the Westmore cemetery.
Edward Wesley Young was born in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, on May 3, 1864. On October 29, 1884, he married Edith Stevens with whom he lived until 1919, when she preceded him in death. He first moved to Minnesota, and in 1911, he came to Montana and took a homestead two miles north of Westmore, where he has resided since.
As a child he was reared in the faith of the Methodist Episcopal Church.
He leaves to mourn his loss one daughter, Edna Mitchel, of Chatfield, Minn., Lilly Oviatt of Kent, Washington, Elmer Young, of Chatfield, Minn., Minnie Young of Westmore, Montana, and Westley Young also of Westmore. One son, Mark, preceded his father and mother in childhood.

Herman "Roy" Stevens 84, of Eyota, Dies
Eyota - Herman L. "Roy" Stevens, 84, of Eyota, a former Dover area farmer and retired Crenlo employee, died Tuesday evening at Olmsted Community Hospital in Rochester.
Mr. Stevens was born Oct. 30, 1894, in Winona County, and married Florence Reynolds. They farmed in rural Dover and Mrs. Stevend died in 1931. In 1934 he became an employee of Crenlo, where he was a welder until retiring in 1959. He married Myrtle Mary Plank on Oct. 14, 1937, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa, and she survives.
He was a member of the American Legion in Eyota.
Survivors also include four brothers, Charles of Wabasha, and Walter "Jim", and Joseph and Donald "Sam", all of St. Charles; and two sisters, Mrs. Kermit (Rhoda) Kahring and Mrs. Lineal (Lucy) Plank both of St. Charles.
The Funeral is 2 p.m. Saturday at the Sellner-Hoff Funeral Home in St. Charles with Rev. James Dodge of Eyoa Faith United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery in St. Charles.
Pallbearers are Edward and Patrick Stevens, David Roeder, Larry Plank, Richard Zeitler and Vernon Kudson.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on Saturday until the service

Eyota - The Funeral for Myrtle Stevens, 71, of Eyota, who died Friday morning at her home, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hoff Funeral Home, Sellner Chapel in St. Charles. the Rev. Jack Haddorff will officiate.
Spring burial will be in Hillside Cemetery in St. Charles.
She was born Myrtle Plank on Feb. 10 1917, in Orion Township, Olmsted County. She Married Herman "Roy" Stevens on Oct 14, 1937, in the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. He Died in 1979.
She worked as a housekeeper for many years in the area.
Survivors include three sisters, Josephine (Mrs. Bernard) Decker of Lake City, Eunice Knudson of Rochester and Annabelle (Mrs. Elmer) Uthke of Dover. She was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
Friends may call at the Hoff Funeral Home from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday and 9 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday.

Louis Frank died at his home at Palmer's Corners this morning, aged 44 years. Aside from a wife, Mertie H. Vinton Howard, the Busti farmer who made two sensational suicidal attempts in Jamestown Tuesday afternoon of last week, died a natural death Thursday at the Jones General Hospital. Vinton Howard, aged 56 years, a Busti farmer, who while temporarily insane from acute kidney trouble, made two unsuccessful attempts to commit suicide in Jamestown last Tuesday, succumbed to the malady the following morning in the Jones General hospital in that city, to which institution he was removed for treatment. He got off his wagon and threw himself in front of a street car, but the car was stopped before it hit him and he then darted in front of an automobile which was quickly turned from its course.

A very large company of relatives and friends met at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Horace Frank of Busti Wednesday evening to celebrate the marriage of their two daughters, the eldest, Anna A., being united to Willis T. Card of Panama, and the second, Fannie, to M. Vinton Howard of Busti. Rev. B, S. Borland of Busti was the officiating clergyman, and
the sight wss a novel one to most of those present. An elegant repast followed the ceremony. The presents were many and valuable. The happy couples will shortly begin housekeeping.

The wife of Horace Frank of this town, on the 22d inst. gave birth to triplets — one boy weighing 5 lbs. and two girls weighing 4 1/2 lbs. each; total weight 14 1/2 lbs. Dr. Lord, who was in attendance, reports them doing well.

Mrs. Lydia Frank Merchant, 79, of 369 South Main Street, Jamestown resident for 37 years, died at 11:15 P.M. Thursday in Jamestown General Hospital.
Mrs Merchant was born in Busti, July 22, 1870, the daughter of Horace and Adelia Stevens Frank.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Joseph B. Wilcox of the same address; two sons, Cecil Merchant of Frewsburg and Donald Merchant of this city; 12 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. She was the widow of William H. Merchant.
The remains are at the Henderson-Lincoln Funeral Home where funeral services will be held at 2 P. M. Sunday. Rev. Arthur H. Cooke of the Pilgrim Memorial Church will officiate. Interment will be in Busti Cemetery.

William H. Merchant died today at the Jamestown General Hospital, aged 69 years. He was born Aug. 5, 1870 at Russell, Pa., a son of George W. and Mary Dunn Merchant. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Lydia Merchant; a daughter, Mrs. Joseph Wilcox, and two sons, Louis and Donald Merchant, all of Jamestown; two sisters, Mrs. Grace Nelson of this city and Mrs. Minnie Murphy of Marion, Ind., and several grandchildren. Mr. Merchant was for seven years watchman at the former Institute Street crossing of the Erie railroad.
Funeral services will be held Fridayat 1:30 p.m. at the Henderson & Lincoln chapel. Interment will be at Busti.

Mrs. Dora Stevens Garfield, 79, of 610 East Second Street, widow of Frank E. Garfield, died at 2:30 A. M. today at the Jamestown General Hospital. She is survived by four sons, Merle, George, Glenn and Morris Garfield of Jamestown; two daughters, Mrs. Florence Green of Conewango Valley and Mrs. Margaret Cook of Lakewood; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Milton H. Berger of Jamestown, and 12 grandchildren. Her husband died in 1936.
Born in Busti on Feb. 17, 1868, daughter of Walter and Jane Babcock Stevens, she had resided in Jamestown 50 years and was a member of Princess Rebekah Lodge for about 20 years and a former member of the Busti Methodist Church, now the Busti Federated Church.
The remains are at the Powers Funeral Home, for funeral services at 1 P. M. Friday, with Rev. R. W. Neathery of the Falconer Baptist Church officiating. Interment will be in the Busti Cemetery.

Frank E. Garfield, carpenter for the board of education for 12 years, died at his home, 909 Washington street Monday at 2 p. m., aged 77 years. Surviving are his wife. Mrs. Dora B. Garfield; three daughters, Mrs. Milton Berger. Mrs. Florence Stahl and Mrs. Margaret Cook; four sons. Merle W. Garfield, Glenn H. Garfield, George E. Garfield and F Morris Garfield, and eight grandchildren. He was a member of Mt. Tabor lodge, I.O.O.F. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1:30 p. m. at the Henderson A Lincoln Funeral Home.

The funeral of Emma May Garfield was held Saturday afternoon from the family home, 228 Broadhead avenue. Rev. Frank P. Stoddard of the Calvary Baptist church officiating. The bearers were Merle Garfield, Glenn Garfield, George Garfield and Milton Stahl. Among the floral tributes were pieces from the spinning department of the Jamestown Worsted mills, Mt. Tabor, I.O.O.F. Ariel Athletic club, H. P. Robertson company, Gibson and King fellow workers, Warren, Pa., Saxe Brothers employes: employes of the Standard Table company and Cullen's shoe store. The interment was in Busti cemetery. From away were Mrs. Emma Garfield, Mrs, Maggie Culver, W. H. Stevens, Mrs. Ella Hausen, Charles Miller, Warren, Pa.: Mrs. H. A. Garfield and daughter, Charlotte, Corry. Pa.; the Misses Geneva and Hattie Woodcock, Oil City. Rev. B. R. Hatcliffe, pastor of the Baptist church at Buati, officiated at the grave.
