  Mrs. Lulu Grace Fitch, 69, died April 19, 1947, in the home of her son, Llwellyn Fitch, 807 Roosevlet Street, Rome, after an illness of one month. A native of Richfield Springs, Mrs. Fitch was born July 15, 1877, a daughter of H. E. and Anna Getman Llewellyn. After receiving her education in Richfield Springs, she served as a teacher in school of that community for several years. On October 29, 1902, in Richfield Springs, she married Herbert W. Fitch, who died in 1927. Mrs. Fitch cane to Rome in 1912. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Richfield Springs. Surviving besides her son are a sister, Mrs. Henry D. Lane, Richfield Springs and a grandson, Frederick H. Fitch. Burial will be in Richfield Springs.

  Harry W. Locke, 49, of 12 Clinton street, passed away last evening at 10:45 at the Nathan Littauer hospital after a lingering illness. He was born in Herkimer. He had been employed by the New York Telephone company in New York City for many years. He moved to Gloversville about four months ago.
  The only survivor is his wife, Mrs, Charlotte Locke of this city.
  The remains were moved to the Finocan Brothers, Inc., funeral chapel on South Main street The funeral announcements will be made later.

  Mrs. Charlotte Locke, aged 67, widow of Harry Locke, died Monday night at 12:30 at the Steenburg Nursing home, 21 Lincoln street. Mrs. Locke had been ill for the past nine years and in serious condition for the past six months.
  Mrs. Locke was born in Northville but lived most of her life in Riceville. She came to Gloversville nine years ago and made her home at 312 North Main street.
  The survivors are four half sisters, Mrs. Jennie Abdella and Mrs. Mary Meyers of Gloversville, Mrs. Hattie Snell of Benson and Mrs. Mabel Brooks of Speculator; also one half brother, Oscar Howland of Benson and several nieces and nephews.
  The body was taken to the J. W. Finocan funeral home. 13 Prospect avenue where the funeral will be held tomorrow morning at 10. The Rev. Andrew Hansen of the Kingsborough Presbyterian church will officiate. The body will be taken to Troy for cremation.

  Canastota - Nov, 5 — Edwin A. Locke, 80, for 21 years a village mail carrier and one of the three persons inaugurating the service Aug. 1, 1907, died yesterday at his home, 429 New Boston St. He had been retired since his 65th birthday. Feb. 7, 1928.
  He was born at Palmermo, Feb. 7, 1863, son of Ainslee and Mary Getman Locke. He taught school in Otsego County. In 1886 he married Miss Lennie Blaiser of this village and they came here to live in 1892. Since retirement from the postal service he had raised poultry for eggs.
  Surviving are his wife, a son, Benjamin Locke of Bridgeport, Conn.; a sister, Mrs. Nellie Jones of Burlington Flats; a brother, Fred Locke of Fly Creek; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

  Oneida, Feb. 12 — Death claimed John Francis Locke, 72, a native of Richfield, Otsego County, yesterday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Willard Spicer, Earlville-Hamilton Rd. Mr. Locke suffered a heart attack five weeks ago.
  He was born March 27, 1869 and on Jan. 4, 1893 he married Miss Delia Herkimer, Richfield. Later the couple lived in Herkimer and Waddington and two years ago he came to the home of his daughter.
  Mr. Locke was a carpenter and was a communicant of the Episcopal Church.
  Other survivors besides his daughter and his wife are a son, Stanley S. Locke, Milwaukee, Wis.; two brothers, Fred Locke, Fly Creek, and Edwin Locke, Canastota; and a sister, Mrs. Nellie Jones, Edmeston, as well as two grandchildren and a nephew.

  Mrs. Della Locke, 70, Earlville, a former resident of Monticello and descendant of a brother of General Nicholas Herkimer, died suddenly February 27, 1944, at Faxton Hospital, Utica, where she had undergone an eye opertion a week ago.
  She was born Oct. 21, 1873, in Exeter, daughter of Nelson and Catherine Cole Herkimer, and in January 1893, was married to John Locke in Richfield Springs. They moved to Herkimer in 1901, going to Waddington eight years ago to live with their daughter, the former Miss Mary Locke, then a teacher there. While here. Mr. Locke engaged in the contracting business.
  The late Nella Herkimer, long a resident of Monticello was a sister.
  Following their daughter's marriage to Willard Spicer, both families moved to Earlville, where Mr. Locke died two years ago.
   Mrs. Locke was a member of Christ Episcopal Church and of its former Ladies Guild.
  She leaves her daughter; one son, Stanley S. Locke. Milwaukee, Wis.; three grandchildren, John and Mary Catherine Locke, Milwaukee, Pamela Spicer, Earlville, and three sisters, Mrs. Edith Greene and Mrs. Lansing Morse, Herkimer, and Mrs. George Pettingill, Groton, N Y.

  Cooperstown — Fred G. Locke, 89, of Fly Creek RD, died yesterday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Dale Houghtaling, Fly Creek RD, after a long illness.
  He was born March 20, 1871, in Prey Hill, Town of Richfield, son of Ainsley and Elizabeth Getman Locke. He attended Brighton schools. He married Nellie Fay on March 23, 1898, in Richfield Springs. She died Dec. 30, 1945.
   Mr. Locke taught in Bloodgood, N. Y., many years ago. He Was a farmer in Fly Creek Valley and a member of Richfield Springs Universalist Church.
  He leaves his daughter; a son, Norman Locke of Fly Creek Valley; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
  The funeral will be at 3 tomorrow from the Ingalls Funeral Home here with the Rev. William A. Highfield, local Methodist pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Fly Creek Cemetery.


Nellie Fake

  Funeral services for Mrs. Nellie Fake Locke, wife of Fred G. Locke of Fly Creek Valley were held at 2 p. m. Wednesday in the Ingalls Funeral Home. They Rev. Charles Kramer, Universalist pastor, officiated and interment will be in the Fly Creek Cemetery in the spring.
  Mrs. Locke died December 30th, in the Mary Imogene Bassett hospital of pneumonia which developed from influenza. She had been in poor health about six months.
  She was born in Minnesota, August 27, 1867, daughter of John W. and Sophia Coleman Fake. Her marriage, to Mr. Locke occurred March 23, 1896. Their early married life was spent on a farm in the Town of Columbia. Herkimer county. They moved to Otsego county twenty-eight years ago. She since had lived in this vicinity. She. was , a member of the Universalist church.
  Surviving, are her husband, a daughter Mrs. Dale Houghtaling of Fly Creek Rd.; a son. Norman of Fly Creek and four grandchildren.

  —Sophie Locke, daughter of Fred G. and Nellie Fake Locke, of Fly Creek, died at her home near Oneonta Sept. 24 of infantile paralysis. She was 16 years of age and had been ill two days. She is survived by her parents, a sister, May, and a brother, Norman. She was a student of the Oneonta High school and well known and much loved by her young friends. Interment was at Oneonta Plains on Monday.

  Mrs. Nellie H. Jones, aged 74, died February 28, 1951, in the Holy Cross hospital, Detroit, of a heart ailment. She was born in Richfield, November 8, 1876, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sylvanus Locke. She was married to David F. Jones May 30, 1896 in Bridgewater. He died in 1943.
  She was a member of the Baptist Church.
  Survivors are four sons, Clarence, Superior, Wisc, Fred, Plymouth, Mich., Raymond, Oneida, and Gerald, Cortland; four daughters, Mrs. Pearl Miller, and Mrs. Mary Jones, Utica, Mrs. Irene Reneau, Detroit, and Mrs. Loraine Sweet, Ilion; a brother, Fred Locke, Fly Creek, serveral grandchildren and great grandchildren.
  The funeral was held Saturday from the Houk Funeral Home with the Rev. Ralph Vosburg, officiating. Burial was in Edmonston Union cemetery.

  David F. Jones, a former resident of Edmeston and Bridgewater, died May 22 in the home of his son, Clarence, Superior, Wisc.
  Survivors include Mrs. Jones, four sons, Fred and Frank, Detroit; Gerald, who is in the Army in Hawaii, and Raymond, Edmeston; three daughters, Mrs. John Miller, and Mrs. Ray Lux, Utica; and Mrs. Cass Sweet, Edmeston; two sisters, Mrs. Charles Clark, Hubbardsville, and Mrs. Anna Pugh, Sherburne, and two brothers, Charles, Deansboro, and Evan, New Hartford.
  The funeral was at 2 p.m. Tuesday from the Houk Funeral Home at Edmeston. Burial was in Edmeston Union Cemetery.

A very sad incident occurred here Saturday: Richard Getman, the 14 year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Damon Getman while gathering apples had the misfortune to puncture the , eyeball of his left eye with an apple tree limb. He was taken to St. Luke's hospital Monday, accompanied by Dr. H. J. Cristman. and had the eye removed. Richard is a good boy and has the sympathy of alt who know him.

  Richard J. Getman, 74, of Richfield Springs RD 1, a retired farmer, died yesterday in his home. He was born in Columbia Center, son of Damon and Mary Brewer Getman. He married Mabel Cole in 1909. Mr. Getman was a member of the Columbia Center Methodist Church. Besides his wife he leaves two daughters. Miss Ethel Getman, Rockville Center, L. I., and Mrs. Beatrice Burke, Columbia Center. The funeral will be 1:30 Saturday from the Applegate Funeral Home, Ilion. Burial will be in the Columbia Center Cemetery. Calling hours are this afternoon and tomorrow afternoon and evening.

  On the evening of June 16, 1909, at the home of Mr and Mrs. Thomas C. Cole in Columbia, occured the marriage of their daughter, Mabel C. to Richard J. Getman, the only son of Mr. and Mrs. Damon Getman, also of Columbia. The ceremony was performed by Rev. A. J. Allen, pastor of the M. P. church of Columbia charge. Only the relatives and some intimate friends of the bride and groom about forty in number were present. Promptly at 8'o'clock to the strains of Lehengrin's march the maid of honor, Miss Elsie Seller of Pearl River, a friend of the bride, entered the parlor. followed by the bride supported by her father and were met by the groom and his best man. Mr. Harley Shaul of Columbia. Then Richard and Mabel took the vows of holy matrimony. The wedding march was rendered by the bride's sister of New York. The bride and her maid of honor were both handsomely attired in white, the bride carrying a shower boquet of white roses and lillies of the valley and her maid of honor carried pink carnations. A wedding supper was served. The newly wedded couple left on an early morning train for a trip to New York   and Pearl River. Both bride and groom are loyal to the M. P church of which they are members, and have a host of friends who wish them a happy and prosperous wedded life.

  COLUMBIA CENTER  - M. Ethel Getman, 93, formerly of McKoons Road, Columbia Center, died Sunday, Nov. 9, 2003, at Folts Homes, Herkimer, where she had been a resident.
  She was born in Columbia Center, the daughter of Richard and Mabel Cole Getman.
  Ethel was a school teacher initially at a one-room school house in Columbia Center and later in the Rockville, L.I., school district, where she also became a school administrator. She attended Columbia Center Methodist Church and most recently Herkimer United Methodist Church.
  Survivors include her sister, Beatrice Burke of Herkimer; four nephews, Timothy Burke of New Jersey, Ronald Burke and his wife Annajo of Columbia Center and Gary and Theodore Burke of Phoenix, Ariz.
  She was predeceased by her brother-in-law, Wallace Burke.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, at the Graves-Applegate-Day Funeral Home, 48 E. Main St., Mohawk, with the Rev. Dr. David Oertel, chaplain of the Folts Homes, officiating. Interment will be in the Reformed Church Cemetery, Columbia Center. Visitation will be held Tuesday from noon- 1 p.m. prior to the service at the Graves-Applegate-Day Funeral Home, Mohawk.

  Ilion - Mrs. Earle L. Harris, formerly of Ilion, died May 13, 1944 in Edgewater Hospital, Miami Fla., after a long illness.
  Mrs. Harris was the former Miss Ida Tefft. She was born in Ilion, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Fremont Tefft. She was a graduate of Ilion High School and Teachers Training School. For several years she taught in Tuger School, Herkimer. On Oct. 30, 1912, she married Mr. Harris and lived in Chicago and later in Tennessee. Since 1925 they have made their home in Miami.
  Surviving besides her husband are three daughters, Mrs. David M. Parker, New Oleans; Mrs. Harvey L. Feil, Jacksonville, Fla., and Mrs. Homer C. Frasier, Coral Gables, Fla. two sisters, Mrs. Roy Chesebrough and Mrs. Clark L. Trumper, Ilion, and two grandchildren, Gene Feil and John Fraiser. Interment will be in Chattanooga, Tenn.

Calvin French in the presence of immeditate relatives. Miss Tefft, who is the daughter of J. J. Tefft, is a graduate of the Ilion High School and teachers training class, and for several years has tasught in the primary grades of the Herkimer Schools. The groom is a son of Charles W. Harris of Chattanooga, Tenn., and holds the position of estimator in the Chicago office of George Fuller Construction Company. The pre-nuptual functions in honor of the bride included a bridge----- by Miss Leta --oss, a dinner by the teachers of the Routh (?) school of Herkimer, aluncheon by Mrs. Oram Pollard of Oriskany Falls, a series of evening entertainm,ents by Mrs. Frank Bellinger, Mrs. Ftank Thurwood, Miss Elmira and Miss L'Afeoreaux. Mr. and Mrs. Cheesebourough and Miss Helen Teffts, and an eight course dinner given Saturday evening by Messrs. Neals and Roberts -- -- of the friends of Miss Teffts. The gift of the groom to his bride was a diamond and pearl circlet. After the wedding journey to Tennessee and other southern points Mr. and Mrs. Harris will reside in Chicago.

  Sunday Press Bureau Oneonta — Funeral services for Clermont G. Tennant, 75, one of the oldest practicing attorneys in Otsego County, will be conducted at 2 p. m. tomorrow at the Ingalls Funeral Home in Cooperstown. Officiating will be the Rev. George French, rector of Christ Episcopal Church of Cooperstown, assisted by the Rev. Waiter R. Graig, pastor of the Presbyterian Church in Cooperstown; Burial will be in Lakewood Cemetery.
  Warren G. Farrington of Oneonta, president of the Otsego County Bar Association, announced yesterday that the membership would attend in a body. Mr. Tennant, senior partner in the law firm of Tennant & Tennant, died at his home in Cooperstown late Friday night after a short illness.
  A native of Richfield Springs, he, was born Sept. 19, 1880, son of Albert C. and Lizzie (Getman) Tennant. He married the former Florence E. Bundy on Sept. 5, 1908, in Cooperstown.
  In his younger years, Mr. Tennant was graduated from Albany Academy and the Law School at Hamilton College, where he was a member of Chi Psi fraternity. Soon after beginning the practice of law in 1906, he received an appointment as a deputy attorney general of New York State. He had been associated with his son, Justice of the Peace Robert C. Tennant of Cooperstown, in their firm since Jan. 1, 1937.
  Mr. Tennant, a member of the State Bar Association and a past president of the Otsego County Bar Association, was attorney for the Village of Cooperstown more than two decades. He also was a ranking member of Oneonta Lodge 1312, Elks; the Cooperstown Rotary Club, Otsego County Lodge 138, F&AM; Otsego Chapter 26, Royal Arch Masons, and the Improved Order of Redmen. During his long career as a member of the bar, Mr. Tennant also served as Otsego County representative on the State Tax Commission. Besides his wife and son, he is survived by two granddaughters, Catharine Rhea Tennant and Susan Bundy Tennant, both of Cooperstown, and a cousin, Burt Harris of St. Petersburg, Fla.

  The death of Mrs. Florence E. (Bundy) Tennant, widow of Attorney Clermonte G. Tennant, occurred Friday morning at the Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital. She was 76 years old.
  Mrs. Tennant was a native and life-long resident of this village. She was born here on January 15, 1885, a daughter of Edwin and Adelia (Dennison) Bundy. She graduated from Cooperstown High School with the class of 1902. She was married to Mr. Tennant on September 5, 1908. His death occurred on October 28, 1955. Formerly active in many civic affairs in her home community, Mrs. Tennant was a member of Christ Episcopal Church.
  She is survived by a son, Robert C. Tennant; two granddaughters, Catharine Rhea and Susan Bundy Tennant; and a sister, Mrs. Helen Walrath, all of Cooperstown. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Ingalls Funeral Home here with the Rev: Roderic D, Wiltse, curate of Christ Church, officiating. Burial was in Lakewood Cemetery.

Ralph Birdsall, rector of Christ Church, officiated, the bride being given away by her father. The rooms of the house were elaborately decorated with pink asters. The bride was gowned in white silk trimmed with point lace. She wore a veil with orange blossoms and carried a shower bouquet of bride roses. The maid of honor was Miss Helen A, Bundy, a sister of the brfde. Her gown was pink silk- trimmed with lace, and her bouquet was of pink roses. The bridesmaids were Miss Grace D. Hecox of Oneonta, a cousin of the bride; Miss Harriet M. Bundy, a cousin of the bride; Miss-Marion E. Cook and Miss Clara L. Locke, all of this village. The best man was Eugene D. Stocker. The ushers were Louis K. R. Laird of Auburn, the bride's brother-in-law; Frank M. Smith of Springfield Center; Orange L. Van Horn and Leon Ellsworth of this vlllare. A reception was held at the home of the bride's parents. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mr. Edwin Simeon Bundy. She taught at Springfield Center. in the Union School, resigning her position there to accept on in this village. Mr. Tennant is the son of Mrs. A. C. Tennant of this village. He graduated from. Hamilton College in 1904 and from the Albany Law School in 1906. He is an attorney of this village. After a brief wedding trip they will begin housekeeping on Chestnut street in this village.
