The death of James B. Hedges last Wednesday January 16, came as a great shock to his friends and neighbors, although he had not been in good health for several years he had been about the work on his farm until the day before his death.
James B. Hedges son of the late Elijah and Roseanna (Houghton) Hedges was born in Northfield December 18, 1856 in the same house in which he died and had lived nearly all his life.
Mr. Hedges married Lucy L. Getman of Minnesota on December 13, 1881, to them were born eleven children, all ofh whom are living except two, Melvin Kenneth who died in infancy, and Lila Lutheria who died two years ago on January 20. The surviving ones are Mrs. Florence E. Heyer of Grand Haven, Mich., Mrs. Lottie M. Larrabee of Reading, Vt., Miss Millie E. Hedges of Pittsburgh, Pa., Grover C of Barnard, Vt., Miss Jarilla L. Hedges who had faithfull cared for her father during his declining years. Mrs. Ora R. Losse of Springfield, Vt., Laurence J., Elroy B., and Lewis W. of Northfield. All of whom were present at the funeral except two.
Mr. Hedges was a carpenter, stone mason, and brick layer, at these he worked in his earlier years as well as to carry on his farm. He was very fond of his family and never happier than when he had them around him.
The funeral was held form his late home Saturday afternoon, Dr. Creegan officiating. Burial was in the family lotin Elmwood. the bearers were Grover C., Elroy B., Lewis W., Alvey Smith, Roy Smith and Horace Smith.

Northfield Falls, June 3, - Flint Royal Larrabee died suddenly this morning at this home here. this morning he arose and apparently seemed well as usual until he was stricken with a heart attack. During the oast year and a half he had been in failing health.
Mr. Larrabee was born Aug, 23, 1861, the son of Lucius and Rowena Presby Larrabee. He was on of 10 children. He came to Northfield about 15 years ago and for two ot three years was in carpenter work. He bought a farm in the Cox Brook section. He has been engaged in farming most of the past 20 years. following the sale of his farm he moved to Northfield Falls and purchased the Sunderland home.
Oct. 4, 1917, he married Lottie Hedges, who survives. Two foster children have lived and been brought up by the Larrabees since 1923. Mrs. Lillian Carroll and Frederick Massey, both are living in Barre now. A sister, Mrs. Ellen Churchill, of Taftsville and several nephews and nieces were among the surviving relatives.

TOMAH, Wis. (Special) - The body of Miss Bessie Medd, 64, who died Monday in St. Paul, will be brought to tomah for the graveside rites at about 3:15 p.m. friday in Oak Grove Cemetery, the Rev. Ernest Kistler, Methodist pastor, officiatiing. If it rains a brief service will be held at White's Funeral Home.
Miss Medd was born Feb. 4, 1889, in tomah. She gradusted from Lawrence College, Appleton, Wis., and later from the University of Illinois. Following her move to St. Paul, Miss Medd was libarian in the suburb od St. Anthony Park in St. Paul until 10 years ago, when illness made her an invalid.
Her nearest relative in the area is a coousin, Mrs. Fred Kohl, of Tomah.

He was a resident of Lincoln Co. for more than 40 years. He was survived by two daughters, Mrs. Albert (Laura) Halverson, of Bradley and Mrs. George (Ella) Marshall, of Seattle, Wash.; One son Lewis Johnston, Tomahawk and a brother Emery Johnston of St Paul.
Also surviving are 10 grandchildren and 17 great grandchilren.
The Pallbearers will be Carl and Elmer Halverson, Kenneth Johnston, Chris and Joe Vaughn and Henry Linn.

"The remains of William W. Alexander of Emerald, Wis., were brought here for burial on Monday. Services were held at the Baptist church at 2 p.m. Rev. Josiah Phillips preached the sermon from II Cor. 5:6. The deceased was born in Adams county, Ohio, Oct 10, 1873 and was married to Miss Edith Johnston of Warrens at Elsworth, Wis., May 15, 1895. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife and an adopted daughter, a sister and a brother. Mr. and Mrs. Emery Johnston of Minneapolis were here to attend the funeral of Wm. Alexander."

John J. Winn, 69 years old, letter carrier here for 26 years, died Monday at Veterans hospital after a four month illness. His home was at Birchwood on White Bear Lake.
Born in New York City, Mr. Winn went with his parents to South Dakota where he grew up on his father's ranch near Deadwood. He came to St. Paul in 1894.
At the outbreak of the Spanish-American war, Mr. Winn enlisted and served in Cuba. Returning to St. Paul in 1901, he entered the postal service where he remained until his retirement in 1927.
Since then he had devoted much of his time to his hobby of gardening at his Birchwood home.
Mr. Winn was a member of Worth Bagley camp, United Spanish War Veterans, and the Social Club of Retired Letter Carriers.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Dora [Johnston] Winn; two daughters, Mrs. George [Nellie] Hughes and Mrs. Fred [Kathryn] Cullifer of St. Paul, and five grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the O'Halloran & Murphy chapel, 215 West Sixth street. Burial will be at Forest cemetery."
