ST. JOHNSVILLE — Nathan Sponable, a highly esteemed resident of this village, passed away Thursday at his home on North Division street. He was in ill health for many years, but was not confined until the past two weeks. He was 84 years of age, having been born September 21, 1848 at Lassellsville. Deceased was the last of a family of nine children, being the son of Elisabeth Kring and Harmon Sponable, the latter being a veteran of the Civil War and a great grandson of John Sponable, who fought in the battle of Oriskany. For many years he was engaged in farming near Lassellsville, retiring 14 years ago and moving here.
In 1869 he was married to Mary Ellen Dempster, who died about 14 years ago. He is survived by a son, Clark Sponable of Hallsville, two daughters, Mrs. Jennie D. Weaver of St. Johnsvllle and Mrs. William Schlemer of Albany, also eight grandchildren and twelve greatgrandchildren.
A private funeral will be held at the late home Sunday afternoon at 2 with the Rev. Royal B. Fishbeck pastor of the Methodist Episcopal church, officiating. Mr. Sponable was a member of the church for more than 60 years. Interment will be In Prospect View cemetery.

Weedsport Dec. 27.—Rev. Adelbert Barry, pustor of the First Baptist church at Hannibal died this morniug in the home of his brother-in-law, H. D. Crosman, in this village, at the age of 58 years.
The demise of Mr. Barry was sudden and was due to acute Brights disease. He preached at the Hannibal church Sunday last and then came to Weedesport to spend Christmas with his wife at the home of Mr. Crosman. He was taken suddenly ill on Christmas day and death ensued this morning.
Mr. Barry had been a minister for 28 years and had held pastorates at Mannsville and Holland Patent as well as at Hannibal, He was ordained at North Nauasau and was a native of Granby, N. Y. He is survived by his wife, one daughter, Mrs. D. Leroy Tripp of Schenectady and one son. Ernest E. Barry of Lansing, Mich.
Funeral services will be held at the home of Mr. Crosman Friday at 1 p. m. It has not yet been decided where burial will be made.

Alwin H. Brodt, 89, of Jordan, father of Clayton A. Brodt, Auburn jeweler, died this morning in Jordan. He was born in St Lawrence County and came to Auburn to reside in 1896, moving three years ago to Jordan.
He was a carpenter by trade and for many, years was an active member of the Carpenter's Union. He belonged, to Second Baptist Church and was a member of St. Paul's Lodge of Masons.
Surviving are a son, C. A. Brodt of Auburn; a daughter, Mrs. Clarence J. Hendricks of Jordan two grandsons, Private Leonard A. Brodt, USA, and Royal Hendricks of Jordan; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services win be held at the Langnam and Son Funeral Home, 91 East Genesee Street, at 2 o'clock Saturday. Burial will be in Soule Cemetery. Rev. Robert S. Stansfield, pastor of Second Baptist Church, will officiate. Friends may call at 91 East Genesee Street from 7 to 9 o'clock Thursday evening and from 3 to 5 and from 7 to 9 o'clock Friday.

Mrs. Louise J. Crossman, 87, widow of Hervey D. Crossman, died Thursday, Feb. 4, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Sterling Whitman of RD 1, after a long illness.
Mrs. Crossman was a native of Martville and lived in Weedsport 42 years. For the past 12 years she lived with her daughter. She was a member of the First Baptist church.
She is survived by her daughter; a grandson. Philip Whitman; a nephew and two nieces.
Services were at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Kinney funeral home. Rev. Dr. Donald Williamson, pastor of First Baptist church of Tully and former pastor of the First Baptist church of Weedsport, officiated, assisted by Rev. Payson D. derby, pastor of the First Baptist Church, Weedsport.

Injured three weeks ago by a fall from a ladder on his farm on the Sennett Elbridgre road, Hervey D. Crossman, 79, died from the effects of the shock at his Weedsport home, Saturday. He suffered a fractured hip and internal injuries in the fall and complications which set in caused his death.
Mr. Crossman was one of tha most prominent farmer residents in this village having resided here for 20 years. He was born in the Town of Sennett and spent practically his entire life on farms. He was chefly interested in stock farming, the raising of pure bred Holseins being his hobby.
It was while feeding some of his favorite cattle that Mr. Crossman suffered the accident which later on resulted in his dtalh. He climed a ladder and was tossing hay down in a barn on his farm when he lost his footing and fell to the ground. The shock of the fall and the injuries he sustained were to great for a man of his years to overcome.
The funeral was held from the late home in this village. Monday afternoon, with Rev. George Hobart. pastor of the Baptist Caurch officiating. Bural was made in Sennett Rural Cemetery. The deceased is survived by his wife Mrs. Louise Crossman, and one daughter, Sylvia Crossman of Wellsley College.
