  Eugene Gray, 79, died Wednesday night, October 23, 1946, at his home in Ephratah. He was born March 25, 1867, in the Town of Ephratah, a son of Solomon and Anna C Nellis Gray. He was a member of the Ephratah Reformed Church and I.O.O.F. The survivors are his wife; three daughters. Mrs. Lillian Knoblauch and Miss Martha Gray, Ephratah and Mrs. Ralph Haverly, Gloversville; four sons. Charles of Mayfield, Nellis, Ralph and Harlan of Ephratah: five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. The remains were brought to the Swartz funeral home and will be removed today to the Ephratah Reformed Church, where funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock. The Rev. Mr. Thomas will officiate. Burial will be In the Ephratah Rural Cemetery.

  Mrs. Mary Eva Gray, 79, died suddenly Saturday noon at her home in the Town of Ephratah She was born in the Town of Caroga, Dcc. 25, 1875, the daughter of Charles and Mainda Bradt Wert.
  She was married to Eugene Gray 58 years ago and had been a resident of this area for 65 years. Mrs. Gray was a member of the Ephratah Methodist Church.
  She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. John Knoblack, four sons, Harlan, Nellis, Charles and Ralph, all of the Town of. Ephratah, eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
  Funeral services will be held tomorrow at the Swartz Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m., with the Rev. Harry G. Pettengill of the Ephratah Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in the Ephratah Rural Cemetery.

  Charles S. Gray, 71, St. Johnsville RD 1, died early Wednesday morning in Little Falls Hospital, where he had been a patient the past 10 days.
  Born in the Town of Ephratah Feb. 20, 1905, he was the son of Eugene and Mary Wert Gray. He never married and was a lifelong resident of Ephratah.
  A meatcutter by trade, he had also been a dairy farmer most of his life, retiring about six years ago. He was of the Protestant faith. Survivors include three brothers, Harland Gray and Ralph Gray, both of St. Johnsville RD 1, and Nellis Gray, Nelliston; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
  Funeral services were held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Swartz Funeral Home, Fort Plain, with James Baker, lay pastor of the Ephratah Reformed Church, officiating. Interment was made in Ephratah Rural Cemetery.

  Mrs. Ralph Haverly, 48, of 170 South Main Street died about 4:18 yesterday afternoon at her home following an illness of several months.
  She was born in Ephratah but came to Gloversville about 28 years ago.
  The survivors besides her husband are her mother, Mrs. Mary Eva Gray, Ephratah, two sisters, Mrs. John Knoblauch and Miss Martha Gray, Ephratah; four brothers, Charles, Nellis, Ralph and Harlan Gray. Ephratah; several nieces and nephews.
  Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 2 at the Eugene Hollenbeck Jr. funeral home, 4 Second avenue Rev. George H. Phelps Jr. of the First Presbyterian church will officiate. Interment will be in Prospect Hill cemetery.

  Miss Katherine Mabel Schneider, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Schneider of Currytown, and Nellls Gray, son of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Gray, of Ephratah, were martried Saturday afternoon at 1:30 at the parsonage of the Currytown Reformed Church. The Rev. Harry A. Eliason, pastor of the church, performed the ceremony. Miss Laura Schneider, sister of the bride, and Raymond Schneider, her brother, both of Fort Plain, were the attendants.
  The bride wore a blue crepe dress with black accessories and her maid of honor wore brown crepe with brown accessories. Those attending the ceremony and the reception which followed at the home of the bride's parents, were Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Schneider, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Edwards, Ephratah, Mrs. Raymond Schneider and son, Norman, Mrs. Anthony D'Arcangelis and son, Paul; Mrs. R. W. Edwards, Mrs. Robert Abeling and son, Robert, of Fort Plain, Miss Helen Scott of Sharon Springs.
  The bride has been employed at the Beech-Nut Packing Company here and the bridegroom is engaged in farming with John Edwards, St. Johnsville, where they will live.

  Harlan Gray, 83, St, Johnsville RD#1, (Ephratah) died early Thursday evening in Little Falls Hospital where he had been a patient for about two months. Born Oct 15, 1917, in the Town of Ephratah, he was a son of Eugene and Mary Eva Wert Gray and a lifetime resident of the area. He was always self employed as a dairy farmer, Mr. Gray was a member of the Ephratah Rod and Gun Club and a former member of the Ephratah Volunteer Fire Department. He is survived by two brothers, Ralph Gray, St. Johnsville RDl, and Nellis Gray, Nelliston. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Swartz Funeral Home, Inc., Fort Plain, with the Rev. Clair Carpenter, pastor of Ephratah United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Ephratah Rural Cemetery in the spring.

 - Obituary (The Morning Herald, Gloversville and Johnstown, NY, Monday, October 30, 1933)
  HARVEY PUTMAN, 203 No. Perry St. was found dead in his automobile yesterday afternoon at 2 p.m. The auto was parked in the garage under his camp which is located near the Batchellerville bridge. Death was accidental and is attributed to monoxide gas poisoning.
  The body was found by Jacob Burton of this city. Dr. J. Edward Grant, of Northville, health officer, was called to examine the body. It is believed that he died Saturday afternoon between 4 and 5.
  Mr. Putman, who was 70 years of age, was born in Ephratah September 24, 1863, the son of Hiram R. Putman and Mary Ellen Gray Putman. He had resided in Johnstown 45 years.
  Mr. Putman, who was a mason by trade, was a painstaking and skilled workman and his many friends and acquaintances will be shocked to learn of his passing. He was a member of the First Baptist church of this city.
 The survivors are two brothers, George H. and John of Johnstown; a sister, Mrs. Arthur Maxfield of Gloversville, and a grandson.
  The funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 from the Alpaugh Funeral Home. Rev. Harlow W. Parsons, pastor of the First Baptist church, will officiate. Interment will be made in Fern Dale Cemetery.

  The funeral ot Harvey Putman, former resident, who was found dead in his automobile, parked in the garage underneath his Summer home, at Batchellerville bridge, Sunday afternoon at 3, death being accidental and due to inhaling monoxide gas, was held at the H. P. Alpaugh Funeral Parlor yesterday afternoon at 2. Rev. Harlow W. Parsons, pastor of the First Baptist church, officiated. There were many floral tributes.
  The bearers were George Howerth, William McClain, Jacob Burton, Sr. and William Edwards. Interment was made in Fern Dale cemetery.

  Edison Deusler Putman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Putman, 203 North Perry street, passed away at his home last night at 9:30. Although he had been ill for the last six years he was able to be about until two weeks ago when he was taken with an attack of influensn. Since then he has been growing worse.
  He was bom in the home in which he passed away on August, 27, 1901. He has always made his home in this city and is well and favorably known. He was Just about to graduate from the Johnstown High School when he was first taken ill.
  All during his illness he maintained a cheerfulness that marked the excellent character he had always displayed when he was well. His passing will bring sorrow to the many friends he had among the younger people in the city.
  The funeral will be strictly private to relatives and will be held on Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Friends may view the remains Thursday morning from 10 to 12 o'clock. Rev. C M. Sturgess, D. D. pastor of the First Methodist Church will offlciate. Burial will be made In the family plot in the Fern Dale cemetery.

 - Obituary (The Morning Herald, Gloversville and Johnstown, NY, Tuesday, June 3, 1941)
  John S. Putman, 74, retired glove cutter and well known musician, was found dead in bed in his room at 4 West Main street, last evening at about 7:30. It is believed that he had been dead for about seven days.
  Mr. Putman's absence about town had not been noticed during the past few days and last evening one of his friends asked Police Officer Frank Komornik to investigate. The officer went to Mr. Putman's room and on entering found the body on the bed. Coroner Frank G. Calder was called and expressed his belief that he had died in his sleep from a heart attack.
  Mr. Putman was born October 10, 1866 at Ephratah, the son of Hiram R. and Mary E. Gray Putman. For many years he gave lessons on the violin and banjo and on many occasions played these instruments at social events in this city. He
was a member of Cayadutta Lodge, 218, I. O. O. F.
  He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. William E. Michelfelder of Hempstead, Long Island; one son, John D. Putman of Syracuse; one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Maxfield of of Gloversville and one brother, George H. Putman of this city.
  The body was taken to the Buchanan funeral home, to be prepared for interment, and funeral arrangements will be announced later.


Lefa Kilmer

 - Obituary (The Morning Herald, Gloversville and Johnstown, NY, Tuesday, September 8, 1914)
  The death of Mrs. Lefa Kilmer, wife of John S. Putman of 2 Beaver street, occured Saturday morning at seven o'clock at St. Peter's Hospital, Albany. Death followed a lingering illness of several months duration. Mrs. Putman had been undergoing treatment at the hospital since May last and had been at home here but a few weeks during that time. About six years ago she suffered form a severe fall which affected her spine.
  The deceased. who was in the thirty-fifth year of her age, was born in this city, the daughter of Mr, and Mrs. Alexander Kilmer. She passed pracitically her entire life here and greatly endeared herself to a large circle of; aquaintances by her lovable disposion and cheerful manner. She was a devoted member of the United Presbytertan church and of the Phllalhea class of that church and active in every plan to further the interests of either. She is survived by her husband, a daughter. Marion, son John D., her mother, Mrs. Alexander Kilmer; three brothers Lansing, Guy and Alexander all of this city; two sisters, Mrs. Maggie Church and Mrs. James Newnham of this city and a half-sister, Mrs, Wilcox of Syracuse.
  The funeral will he held at the late home this afternoon at 1 o clock. Rev. James A, Williamson. D. D. retired pastor of the United Presbyterian church, will officiate and interment wil he made in the family plot at Fern Dale.

  A wedding, of interest to many Johnstown friends, transpired last evening, at the Fremont street Methodist Episcopal church parsonage, in Gloversville, Rev. E. H. Brown officiating. The contracting parities were John S. Putman and Miss Lefa Kilmer, bout of this clity and the ceremony was performed quietly in the presence of the customary witnesses. The bride is a daughter of Officer and Mrs. Alex. Kilmer, and has mauy friends, who will wish her much joy, throughout life. The grooom is a well-known musician of this city. He is cannected with the Johnstown City band, and is the manager of Putman's orchestra. He has many frilends, both in this city and Gloversville. who will extend hearty congratulations and best wishes for happiness and prosperity. Mr. and Mrs. Putman wail reside at the corner of Byard and Dove streets, in this city, when they will be at home to their many friends.

  Mrs. Henrietta M. Smith, 70, a lifelong resident of the town of Ephratah, died at her home Friday. She was born on April 8, 1863 a daughter ot William Kneaskern and Sarah Soules Kneaskern.
  The survivors are one daughter, Hattie Rouse and two granddaughters, Ephratah; one brother, Benjamin Kneaskern, Fort Plain.
  The funeral will be held Tuesday at 1:30 P. M. at the home and 2 P. M. at the Ephratah Methodist church of which she was a member. Rev. Johnson officiating. Interment will be made in the Ephratah cemetery.

  FORT PLAIN—Benjiman Kneeskern, aged 69 years, died Sunday at his home in the Dutchtown section of this town. Mr. Kneeskern was born at Ephratah, December 15, 1865, the son of William and Sarah Soules Kneeskern. He was twice married, his first wife being Elisabeth Smith, who died some years ago. The second wife, who was Carrie Mowrey, survives with three sons, Steven and Charles Kneeskern of Fort Plain and Herbert Kneeskern of St Johnsville; one daughter Mrs. Clyde Palamteer of St Johnsville and nine grandchildren. The funeral will be held from the late home on Wednesday at 3 P. M. Daylight Saving time, the Rev. E. R. Krulzenga, pastor of the Fort Plain Reformed church officiating. Mr. Kneeskern was a member of the Ephratah Reformed church. Interment will be made in the Rural cemetery at Ephratah.

  Stephen Kneeskern, 87, St. Johnsville RD 1, (Ephratah), died Monday evening in Wells House, Johnstown, where he had been a patient for nearly one year.
  Born Aug. 29, 1888, in the Town of Palatine, he was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Kneeskern. He had resided for most of his life in the Town of Ephratah with the exception of approximately 20 years prior to 1945, when he lived in Fort Plain and was employed in the R. V. Nellis Coal Yard. He later returned to Ephratah and was last employed by the New York State Highway Department, retiring over 20 years ago.
  The only survivors are four nephews and five nieces.
  Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Swartz Funeral Home, Fort Plain. Interment will be made in Ephratah Rural Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.

  Mrs. Carrie Kneeskern, 90, of 447 North Main Street, died at 9:20 Saturday night at Turpin's Grand Haven Nursing Home where she had been a patient since June 1.
  Mrs. Kneeskern was in failing health for the last several years. Bom on April 10, 1882, in Garoga in the Town of Ephratah, she was the daughter of Anson and Maria Gray Mowrey.
  Her husband, Benjamin, died in 1935.
  Mrs. Kneeskern was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church.
  She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Celia McLean of Gloversville; one brother, Roy Mowrey of Johnstown RD 2; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Nettie Palmateer of Ephratah; one stepson, Stephen Kneeskern of Gloversville and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

  ST. JOHNSVILLE — Frank B. Soules, 81, of 18 William St, died Sunday afternoon in Little Falls Hospital He had been in the hospital 10 days.
  He was born March 29, 1880, in Ephratah, son of Benjamin and Lucille Kneeskern Soules, and had spent a large part of his life in St. Johnsville, moving here 63 years ago. During all of his residence here, Soules lived on William St.
  He clerked in local stores, as a young man, and subsequently entered the employ of the Post Office, serving for many years as a village carrier and later as a clerk.
  Soules married Chloe Monk in 1906 and she died April 19, 1946.
   He was a member of the Methodist Church.
  Surviving are one son. Roscoe E. Soules of St. Johnsville; one daughter, Mrs. Dora L. Kretser, also of this village, and three grandchildren.
  The funeral will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. from the Smith funeral home. The Rev. Charles Montgomery, pastor of the Methodist Church, will officiate, and the body will be placed in the vault here, for buirial in West St. Johnsville Cemetery this Spring.

Chloe Monk

  Mrs. Chloe Monk Soules, 63, wife of Frank Soules. William Street, died Friday night in Little Falls Hospital after an illness of only 24 hours.
  Mrs. Soules was taken ill on the night of Holy Thursday as she attended a union service of worship in the Methodist Church. She was obliged to leave the service and suffered a stroke while walking home. She was removed to the hospital and did not regain consciousness.
  Mrs. Soules was born Lasselsville, Fulton County on September 29, 1883, a daughter of Marshall Monk and Emma Butler Monk.  She spent most of her life in St. Johnsville.
  She was a member of the Methodist Church and its Delta A-- Class, the Community Club Rebekahs. King's Daughters and the Firemen's Auxiliary, she was active in all of these groups and she frequently served as chairman of supper committees and headed other endeavors.
  Surviving are the husband, one daughter, Mrs. Donald Kretser and one son, Roscoe Soules, one sister, Mrs. Seward Countryman all of this village; also three grandchildren and nine nieces and nephews.
  The funeral was held this afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Smith funeral home. The Rev L. Allen Smith of the Methodist church officiated. Burial was in West St. Johnsville

  Franklin Soules, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Soules, Sr. passed away at the home of his parents Monday afternoon. He had been ill for many months and had been confined to his room since November 3, 1931. He was born in St. Johnsville December 27, 1906 and hadd always lived in this village. He attended the local high school and was unable to finish his education on account of ill health. He spent more than a year at Raybrook in and effort to regain his health and seemed much improved upon his return. He was a young manof excellent charachter and has many friends in the village who had hoped that he would regain his health.
  He is survived by his parents and by one brother Roscoe Soules and one sister Miss Dora Soules all of this village and two aunts, Mrs. Dora Getman of Ephratah and Mrs. Seward Countryman of this village.
Funeral services will be held privately at the home Thursday afterenoon at two o'clock, Rev. R. B. Fishbeck of the Methodist church and Rev. H. E. Christiana of the Reformed church officiating. Burial will be made in West St. Johnsville.

  Mrs. Clara M. Weatherston, 70, of 153 West street, well known local resident, died last night at 6 in the Amsterdam City Hospital, where she had been a patient a short time. She had been ill some time. She was the widow of James B. Weatherston.
   Mrs. Weatherston was born August 5, 1876, in Ephratah, where she spent, the greater part of her life. She took up her residence in Gloversvilie about 18 years ago, where she was a member of the First Methodist church.
  The survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Michael Sturm and Mrs. George Farhart; one son, John J. Weatherston; one brother, Clark Snell, and one grandchild, all of Gloversville.
  The body was brought to the Kennedy funeral home, 150 South Main street. The funeral arrangements will be announced.

  Mrs. Margaret Farhart, 96, of Gloversville, passed away March 14, 2014, following a brief illness.
  She was born September 21, 1917, in Gloversville, daughter of the late James and Clara Snell Weatherston. Margaret graduated from Gloversville High School and was a self-employed hair stylist her entire life. "Peggy," as she was known, operated Peggy's Beauty Shop in Gloversville for many years completing her career with Peggy's and Marceline's Beauty Shop, several years ago. Her many activities included the NYS Hairdresser Association, Tri-City, and Fulton County Association of which she served as past-president. She was also a former member of the Gloversville Moose Lodge.
  Energetic and self-sufficient, Peggy thought little of driving to New York City by herself or to Florida to visit family and friends. She loved traveling and cherished the many wonderful friendships she enjoyed during her life. She will be sadly missed.
  She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, George Farhart; a sister, Emma Sturm; a brother, John Weatherston; and a niece, Edith Yeldon. She is survived by a niece, Joni Dennie (Cal) of Gloversville; two great-nieces and three great-nephews and their children.
  There will be no calling hours. A graveside service for urn burial will take place in the spring at Ephratah Cemetery and will be announced. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville.

  The bride, who was given in marriage by her uncle, Clark Snell, was gowned in white slipper satin made with sweetheart neckline and skirt of net and an illusion veil fell from a tiara. She carried a white bible and orchid with white satin streamers and white pom poms.
  Her maid of honor was Miss Mary Watkins, who wore a pale pink gown of ninon and tiara of white pom poms and carried white chrysanthemums. Mrs. Roy Pierce siater of the bridegroom, was the bridesmaid and wore a gown of fuchsia taffeta with tiara of yellow chrysanthemums and her flowers were yellow chrysanthemums.
  The best man was William Unright of Guilderland, uncle of the bridegroom and the ushers were Richard Farhart, brother of the bridegroom, and Kenneth Vents.
  Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the bridegroom's home. Later Mr. and Mrs. Farhart left on a wedding trip to New York city and when they return will reside at 103 Park street.
  The bride's going away outfit was an ensemble of soldier blue with black accessories and she wore a corsage of orchids.
  The bridegroom is employed at the General Electric Company in Schenectady.

  After a period of ill health extending over the past two years, Harry Getman Seaman, aged 69, retired carpenter contractor, passed away this morning at 11:40 at his home, 83 East Main street.
  He was a lifelong resident of Johnstown, born here November 7, 1879, the son of James A. and Martha (Getman) Seaman. He received his early education in the local schools and also attended Gloversville Business College.
  After leaving school he was employed for a number of years by J. R. Newman in Gloversville, proprietor of a men's clothing store.
  Shortly before World War I Mr. Seaman and Jewel Horning of Fonda purchased the Barney Galinsky & Sons store in that village and conducted this business until 1930 when the local man disposed of his interest to his partner.
  He then went into the carpenter contracting business with his father under the firm name of J. A. Seaman & Son and a number of fine homes throughout the city stand as monuments to his skilled workmanship.
  When his father died. Mr. Seaman continued alone until 1946 when obliged to retire on account of his health.
  He was a member of the Methodist church, the Official Board and Men's Club of that church and was prominent in church affairs as long as his health permitted.
  He was a former member of St Patrick's lodge, 4. F. & A. M. and also Sir William Johnson lodge, 138, K. of P., which has since passed out of existence.
  Mr. Seaman was twice married, the first time to Alta Barber in Gloversville, in June. 1904. One son was born, Lawrence Clyde Seaman who died January 13, 1935. On August 17, 1933, he was married to Mrs. Nina K. Jeans in Gloversville, who survives together with two grandsons in this city, and two aunts in Gloversville.
  Mr. Seaman was a man of many fine qualities, quiet and reserved in manner, and his passing will be widely mourned.
  The body was removed to the Wassung-Brown & Ehle funeral home to be prepared for burial and will be returned tomorrow at 10:30 to the family home where the funeral will be held Sunday afternoon at 2.
  The Rev. Frank Jay Reid will officiate and burial will be made in Prospect Hill cemetery,


Alta S Barber

  Johnstown ... Mrs. Alta Barber Seaman, wife of Harry G. Seaman, passeed away last evening at 9:30 at the family residence, 308 South Market street. Mrs. Seaman had been in failing health for the past thirteen years, but was obliged to take to her bed about seven weeks ago during which time the end grew gradually nearer.
  Mrs. Seaman was 47 years of age. She was born November 3, 1884, in Gloversville, a daughter of Fernando and Alta Shlpman Barber. She resided in that city until her marriage to Mr. Seaman when she took up her residence here, where many friends will be grieved to know of her death.
  Mrs. Seaman was a woman of many sterling characteristics and a devoted member of the Methodist Episcopal church of this city. She was active in the organizations of the church as long as health permitted being a member of the Women's Foreign Missionary society, Ladies Aid society and Altruist class.
  The surviving relatives besides her hnsbaod are one son, Clyde R. Seaman of this city, her mother and and half-brother, Dr. Everett Perkins of Gloversville.
  The funeral will be held Monday afternoon at the home and interment will be made in Prospect Hill cemetery, Gloversville.

  There was a pretty home wedding June 22, when Harry Getman Seaman of Johnstown and Miss Alta S., daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fernando Barber, were married at the home of the bride's parents, No. 43 Cayadutta street, Gloversville. The ceremony was performed at 8 o'clock by Rev. H. H. Murdock of the First M. E. church and was witnessed by many relatives and friends, including several out-of-town guests. Miss Almeda Miller of Northville acted as maid of honor and Walter Eacker of Johnstown officiated as best man. The bridesmaids were Miss Maud Phillips and Miss Julia Christie of Gloversville, and Irving McConkey and Harry Reid of this city were the ushers. The rooms were very prettily decorated with potted plants, palms and cut flowers, and after the ceremony a wedding dinner was served. Later in the evening Mr. and Mrs. Seaman departed on a bridal tour and on their return they will reside temporarily at the home of the bride's parents. Both bride and groom are well and favorably known and their hosts of friends will unite in extending best wishes.

  Mrs. Nina K. Jeans of Gloversville and Harry G. Seaman of Johnstown were married yesterday afternoon at 3 at the parsonage of the First Congregational church. The ceremony was performed by Rev. A. P. Manwell, pastor of the church. They were attended by Mrs. Carrie T. Holden of Gloveraville and Walter A. Ecker of Johnstown.
  After the ceremony, the party enjoyed a wedding dinner at the Riverwood Inn, near Schenectady. Later, Mr. and Mrs. Seaman left for a trip through the White Mountains, after which they will take up their residence at 308 South Market street, Johnstown. They will be at home to their friends after September 1.
  Mrs. Seaman has been proprietress for some time of the Club Diner on North Main street, and has a wide circle of friends who will extend congratulations and best wishes. Mr. Seaman is a well known contractor in Johnstown and will share with his bride in the well wishes of many friends.

 - Obituary (The Morning Herald, Gloversville and Johnstown, NY, Tuesday, Feburary 23, 1930)
  The many friends ot Delbert Eacker, aged 74 years and one of Johnstown's well known residents, were grieved to learn today ot the sudden and unexpected death of Mr. Eacker, which occurred early yesterday morning at his home, 208 East Clinton. The deceased died following a heart attack that came over him about 2:30 yesterday morning and which proved to be fatal. Mr. Eacker had suffered a similar attack between 3 and 4 Monday morning but after receiving medical treatment from Dr. Austin Hogan, who was called in the emergency, he recovered sufficiently to be about the bouse during the day. Angina pectoris was reported the direct cause of death.
  Mr. Eacker was born at Palatine Bridge, October 15, 1855, the son of Alonzo Eacker and Sarah Cook. For the 42 years that he has been a resident of Johnstown he has been engaged in the butter making business and tor 25 years or more was employed in this capacity at the former C. O. Cross & Sons' creamery in East Main street.
  Mr. Eacker was a member of St Mark's Lutheran church, Cayadutta lodge, 281, I O. O. F., and Acorn Rebekah lodge, 173.
  The survivors are his widow, Mrs. Elvira Eacker; three sons, Walter A., Jessie D. and Orva M. Eacker, all of Johnstown; two brothers, William, of Stone Arabia, and Myron, of Boise, Idaho; three grandchildren and several nephews and nieces.
  The funeral will be held at the home Wednesday afternoon at 2:30. The Rev. Andrew L. Dillenbeck, D. D., of St. Mark's church, will officate and the remains will be placed in the family crypt of the Fern Dale mausoleum.


Elvira Beck

  Mrs. Elvira Eacker, aged 83, widow of Delbert Eacker, died at the home of her son Walter A. Eacker, 505 South Perry street this morning at 4:15 following an illness of nine months.
  She was born in Stone Arabia, and resided in Johnstown for the past sixty years, and was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran church.
  The survivors are two sons. Walter A. and Orva M. both of Johnstown, also four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
   The funeral will be held at the home of her son, 505 South Perry street, Wednesday afternoon at 2 with the Rev. Frank J. Reid of the First Methodist church officiating.
  Burial will be in the mausoleum at Fern Dale cemetery.
