  Leland T. Carner, 117 Smith St., Manlius, died Friday, Aug. 25 in Community General Hospital, Syracuse, after a short illness. He was 81 years old.
  He was a former resident of Fulton and graduated from Fulton High School in 1915. A member of the First Methodist Church of Fulton for a good many years. At present a member of the Manlius Methodist Church.
  He was a World War I veteran and attended Colgate University. He was also noted as an accomplished musician.
  He is survived by his wife Ann W. Carner, two sons, Richard, Miami, Fla. and Robert, Manlius, two daughters Mrs. Priscilla McCann and Mrs. Gloria Miller, Manlius, a sister, Mrs. Harold Blake Sr., Fulton, also twelve grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
  The funeral service was Monday, Aug. 28 at the Newell Funeral Home in Manlius. The Rev. Frank Clayton officiating with interment in the Manlius Cemetery.

  Frances C. Blake, 98, formerly of 315 Walradt Street, Fulton, died Friday, June 29, at St. Luke
Health Service, Oswego.
  A native of Fulton, Mrs. Blake was a life resident.
  She had owned and operated an African violet business in her home for many years. She had
previously worked at Armstrong World Industries and the Walradt Elementary School both in Fulton.
  Mrs. Blake was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Fulton, and was a girl scout leader at the church. She was a member of Elizabeth Chapter 105, Order of the Eastern Star in Fulton.
  Surviving are two sons, Harold A. Blake, Jr. of Fulton and Bernard B. Blake of Oswego; six
grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several great great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Services were held Tuesday at Foster Funeral Home, Fulton. The Reverend Jeffrey Knox officiated.
Burial was at Mount Adnah Cemetery, Fulton.

  FULTON - Harold A. Blake Sr, 80, of 316 Walradt St., Fulton, died Wednesday morning at his home after a long illness.
  He was born in Phoenix and lived in the Fulton area most of his life.
  He was a retired machinist and formerly worked at Sealright Corp. A Marine Corps veteran, he was a member of the First
United Methodist Church,  Hiram Lodge F&AM, and was a recipient of the Grand Lodge Dedicated Service Award.
  Surviving are his wife, Frances Carner Blake; two sons, Harold A. Jr. and Bernard B , both of Fulton; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
  Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Foster Funeral Home, the Rev. Allison Wood and the Rev. Jeffrey Knox officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Adnah Cemetery.

 - Wedding Announcement (Albany Morning Express, NY, April, undated, 1895)
  The parlors of the dwelling of George K.. Conde, on Third avenue, were the scene of a wedding yesterday morning, when their daughter, Miss Edla Conde, was united in marriage to Archie R. Getman, of the firm of Getman & Conde, lumber dealers, The house was tastefully trimmed with plants and flowers. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. C, B. F. Pease, and was witnessed by only the near relatives of the parties. The bride were a fawn colored, broadcloth traveling dress. The ceremony was performed at 11 o'clock, and at 1 o'clock a wedding breakfast was served, after which the couple left for a trip to New York.

- Obituary (Courier, October 20, 1941)
  Charles W. Getman the man who sketched the scene of the crime in every celebrated murder case in the courts of Erie County for two decades, is dead.
  A practicing civil engineer for 35 years, Mr. Getman died yesterday om the Rochester home of his daughter, Mrs. Vincent Carroll. Funeral services will be held in his home at 389 Jersey Street, at 9:30 a.m. and in Holy Angels' Church at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
  Mr. Getman suffered a stroke last February but recovered sufficiently to conduct his business throughout the summer and up to the time of his death.
  Mr. Getman was 55 years old. born in Buffalo, he was educated at School 35 and old Central High School.
  For 30 years he was a partner in the engineering firm of White & Getman and during his career supervised important public works in Central New York besides being in charge of the construction of sewage systems for the City of Lackawana.
  Mr. Getman was probably the best known as the "groundwork" witness for the prosecution during the terms of three district attorneys, Guy B. Moore, Walter C. Newcomb and Leo J. Hagerty, incumbent.
  He was the man who reduced the scene of the crime to inches and feet with pencil and paper and explained his maps for the benefit of the scores of juries which decided the fate of Erie County's more notorious murders during the last twenty years.
  He also testified in hundreds of negligence cases in the civil courts, being called upon as an expert witness to sketch scenes of accidents which led to litigation.
  Mr. Getman was a member of Buffalo Chapter, Sons of the American Revolution.
  He is survived by his wife, Margaret Heberty Getman: two daughters, Mrs. Carroll and Nancy Getman; five sons, Charles Jr., John, Peter, David and Theodore, and a sister, Mrs. Margaret Scanlan.

  Mrs Ella Gray Putnam, widow of James Putnam, died at 7:30 o'clock this morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Alvina Little, 316 Elizabeth Street, after an illness of two years.
  Mrs. Putnam was a native of Ephratah, N.Y., but spent the major portion of her life in Palatine Bridge. Fourteen years ago, Mr. Putnam died and for the last two years, Mrs. Putnam had been living in Pittsburgh, having come to her daughter's here a week ago. She was a member of the Lutheran Church.
  The survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Little and Mrs. Addie Schwabrow, one brother, Charles Gray, and a half brother, Jacob Eacker, both of Stone Arabia;one sister, Mrs. Alvina Hime and a half sister, Mrs Laning, also of Stone Arabia.

  Canajoharie, March 21.—James Putman died at 2:30 o'clock this morning at his home in Palatine. He has been ill for some time of Bright's disease and for the past five weeks confined to his bed. Mr. Putman was born 66 years ago In (he town of Root, and 42 years ago, married Ellen Grey, of Ephratah. For many years he has been a resident of Palatine, where he was well and favorably known. He was a painter by trade and has done a large amount of contract work in that line in the locality where he has long resided.
  He is survived by his widow and three daughters, Mrs. John Schwabrow, of Pittsburg, Pa., Mrs. Robert Filmer, of Palatine Bridge, and Miss Alvina Putman. of Palatine. The funeral will be hold on Thursday at 11 a. m. at the house. The Rev. W. M. Baum. D. D., pastor of St. Mark's Lutheran church, will officiate.

  Canajoharie, Nov. 25 - William [sic] Putnam died at the Utica State Hospital yesterday. He was 36 years of age and had been a patient at the Utica institutuion for 12 years. His illness dates from a sunstroke followed by fever. The deceased was a son of Mr. and Mrs. James Putnam of Palatine. His body was brought home today and the funeral will probably be held Monday. Besides his parents three sisters survive. Mrs. Robert Flinter (?) and Miss Alvina Putnam of theis village and Mrs. John Schwabrow of Pittsburg.

Mr. Putman was 23 years of age, and before his illness was the picture of rugged health. Besides his parents be is survived by three sisters, Mrs. John Schwabrow of Pittsburg. Mrs. Robert J. Filmer of this village and Miss Almira Putman of Palatine.

  Canajoharie - ... A very pretty wedding took place At the. home of Mrs. James Putman in Palatine yesterday afternoon when her daughter. Miss Alvina Putman, and Harry J. Little of Utica were united in marriage by the Rev. William M. Baum. D. D., pastor of St. Mark's Lutheran Church of this village.
  The ceremony took place in the parlor at 1 o'clock and was witnessed by about 40 friend's and relatives of the young couple. They were attended by Mr. and Mrs. Charles E. Amlet of Utica. Miss Alice Wesaeldine acted as ring bearer and the flower girls were the Misses Doris and Evelyn Filmer. They received a number of useful wedding presents.
  After the ceremony the bridal party and guests assembled in the dining room, where a  sumptuous repast was served. The bride, who is a native of Palatine, has resided in Utiica for the past few years, where she's well known, as is also the groom.
  After enjoying a wedding trip Mr. and Mrs. Little will make their future home in Utica.

  Edward G. Gray, aged sixty-six years, died Wednesday at his home at Stone Arabia. He had been in poor health for a long time. He was one of the best known residents of Stone Arabia and many friends will regret his death. His parents were the late John and Mary Gramps Gray.
  Besides his wife he is survived by four sons, John and James of Nellison and Roscoe and Earl of Stone Arabia; two sisters, Mrs. Ella Putnam of Palatine Bridge and Mrs. Jacob Hime of Stone Arabia; two brothers, William of Ephratah and Charles P. of Stone Arabia; also a step-sister and step- brother, Mrs. Adelbert Laning and Jacob Eacker of Stone Arabia.
  The funeral will be held at the late home in Stone Arabia, this afternoon at 1 o'clock. Rev. Mr. Wagschal officiating. The body will be taken to Fort Plain and the interment made in the Fort Plain cemetery.

  FORT PLAIN - Mrs. Gertrude Gray, 77, widow of James Gray, died Wednesday noon at Amsterdam City Hospital. She had been ill for many weeks. Born Oct 31, 1881 in the Town of Palatine, she was the daughter of Isaac and Catherine Steenburg Holland.
   Mrs. Gray was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Fort Plain, and its Dorcas Society. She was also a member of the Rehekahs.
   Survivors include nieces, nephews and cousins.
   The body was removed to the Gray funeral home, Fort Plain, where services will be held Saturday at 2:30 pm. with the Rev. Richard Rieger, pastor of St. Paul's Church, officiating. Burial will be in Fort Plain Cemetery. The Rebekah ritual will he held Friday at 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

  FORT PLAIN — Roscoe F. Gray, 72, of Fort Plain RD 2, died Wednesday morning at Veterans Administration Hospital in Albany, where he had been a patient for the past 10 days.
  He was born in the Stone Arabia section of the Town of Palatine on March 31, 1895, the son of Edward and Katherine Paris Gray, and had been a lifelong area resident.
  Prior to his retirement several years ago, he had been self-employed as a carpenter.
  Mr. Gray was a veteran of World War 1, and had served with the U.S. Army in France. He was a member of Mohawk Valley Post 3275, VFW.
  On June 28, 1924, he was married to Irene Long, who died April 3, 1961.
  His only survivors are a nephew, Leland Gray, Johnstown, and cousins.
  Services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at the Swartz Funeral Home in Fort Plain. The Rev. Earl Van Leeuwen, pastor of the Canajoharie Reformed Church, will officiate.
  Burial will be made in the Fort Plain Cemetery, where a graveside military service will be held.

  FORT PLAIN—Mrs. Irene Gray, 60, wife of Roscoe Gray, died yesterday at her home, RD 2, Fort Plain, after a long illness.
  She was born Nov. 28, 1900, in the Town of Palatine, the daughter of Frederick and Margaret Campbell Long, and lived in Palatine all her life. She was married in Johnstown on June 28, 1924, to Roscoe Gray, who survives.
  Mrs. Gray was a member of the Stone Arabia Reformed Church and its Ladies' Aid Society, and was a past vice president of the Fort Plain American Legion Auxiliary and a past chief and present secretary of Mohawk Valley Temple 2, Pythian Sisters.
  Survivors besides her husband are two sisters, Mrs. Effie Whitbeck, Palmer, N.Y., and Mrs. Hattie Bender, Auriesville; and nieces and nephews.
  Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Swartz funeral home, Fort Plain, the Rev. Gordon Alexander, pastor of the Stone Arabia Reformed Church, officiating. Interment will be in the Fort Plain Cemetery.
  American Legion Auxiliary services will be held at 7:30 and Pythian rites at 8 p.m. tornorrow at the funeral home.

  Jacob Hime, one of the oldest and best known residents of the town of Palatine, died Thursday morning at his home in McKinley. In politics he was a staunch Democrat and had served his party as town collector.

  Death claimed three victims of automobile accidents last night and early today in the Capitol District. Two men and a woman seventy-one years old died.
  The woman, Mrs. William 1. Gray of 95 Main street, Hudson, was struck by a skidding automobile in front of her home early last night. She died in Hudson City hospital, early today, from injuries including a fractured skull and pelvis and shock.
...
  A coroner's inquest is scheduled for today in the death of the Hudson woman. Arthur Martin, Jr., twenty-two, of 83 North Second street, Hudson, driver of the car which struck her down, is not held by police.
  He told authorities that he saw the woman and applied his brakes, but that the car skidded. Mrs. Gray was struck by the right rear of the machine. She was unconscious when picked up by George Hickey, Sr., and Roland Miller, neighbors, and died without regaining consciousness.
   She is survived by her husband, a leading merchant of Hudson; two sons, Donald and Justus Gray, and a daughter, Mrs. Madge Vail, all of Hudson.
