Harvey Joseph Getman, 88, died yesterday in his home, 315 Gray st. after a brief illness.
Mr. Gettnan was born March 22, 1865 in Shells Bush a sonm of George and Nancy Shell Getman. He was educated in Herkimer schools. He married the former Eva Walts on March 25, 1885, and they recently celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary.
He was employed for seven years by the H. M. Quackenbush Inc. and for 30 years by the L. C. Smith Typewriter Co. in Syracuse. After his retirement, he returned to Herkimer to live. He was a member of the Reformed church.
Surviving are his wife; a son, Lloyd, of Syracuse; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday from his late home with Rev. J. Foster Welwood, Reformed Church pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.- Obituary (Baldwinsville Messinger, NY, (undated) 1953)
Harvey J. Getman, a former resident of Baldwinsville and Syracuse died last week Wednesday in his home, 315 Gray st., Herkimer.
Mr. Getman was employed 37 years by L. C. Smith & Corona Typewriters Inc. He retired 10 years ago and moved to Herkimer.
Surviving are a son, Lloyd R. Getman of Syracuse: two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and two neices.
Services were held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the home. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery, Herkimer.

Herkimer - John J. Petrie, 59, died Sept. 26, 1957, at his home in E. Herkimer after a short illness.
He was born Feb. 21, 1898, in the Town of Herkimer, a son of Willis J. and Nettie Getman Petrie. He attended East Herkimer School and graduated from Herkimer High School in 1916.
He married Marion Failing in 1920 in Herkimer. For many years he was associated with thr Grogan Store, Herkimer.
A member of the East Herkimer Volunteer Firemen, he was also affiliated with the Shells Bush Grange, The Herkimer Reformed Church and Herkimer Masonic Lodge.
Besides his wife, he leaves a sister, Mrs. Philip Will and a brother, Clyde Petrie, all of Herkimer, two aunts, several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be at 1:30 today from the Fenner Funeral Home with the Rev. Ayle A, Schutter, pastor of the Reformed Church, officiating. Burail will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Herkimer — Mrs. Marion F. Petrie, 67, of Main Street, widow of John J. Petrie, was found dead last night in her home. Gilbert Upright, Herkime r County coroner, said death was due to natural causes.
She was born in Herkimer. She was married to Mr. Petrie in 1920. He died in 1957. Mrs. Petrie was the owner of Grogan's Clothing Store. The store closed about four years ago. She was a member of Rebekah Lodge, Myrtle Chapter OES, and the Reformed Church.
She leaves three brothers, Daniel K. Failing, Herkimer, and Ai and Myron Failing, both of Schenectady, and a sister, Mrs. Chester (Matilda) Woglemuth, Nelliston.
The funeral will be at 10 Wednesday from the Fenner Funeral Home with the Rev. Fred G. Cotnam, pastor of the Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Calling hours are from 7 to 9 tonight and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 tomorrow.

Laurence J. Petrie, 43, of 18 Gillien Terrace, proprietor of the Band Box Cleaners, died at 4:45 Saturday afternoon in Littauer Hospital where he had been a patient five days. Death was due to a heart condition
Mr. Petrie was born in Herkimer where he attended the East Herkimer School and graduated from the Herkimer High School. On June 5, 1933. he was united in marriage to Isabeile Ward in the Little Falls Union Church. He worked for a few years in Utica and then removed to this city in 1930, where he opened the Band Box Cleaners at 331 North Main Street.
He wae a member of the Herkimer Reformed Church, the Couples Club of the first Methodist Church of this city, and the, Royal Arcanum. Mr. Petrie was greatly interested in hunting and fishing.
The survivors besides his wife are his mother, Mrs. Nettie Petrie, Herkimer; two brothers, John and Clyde Petrie, East Herkimer; one sister, Mrs. Philip Wills, Herkimer, and several nieces and nephews.
The body was taken to the Walrath & Bushouer Funeral Home and later returned to the family home where it will remain until tomorrow morning when it will be taken to the Fenner Funeral Home, Herkimer, where services will be held at 3 p.m. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Herkimer.

EAST HERKIMER - Mrs. Isabelle P. Livingston. 73, of 121 Walnut St., died Monday, May 31, 1982 in Herkimer Memorial Hospital.
She was born June 27, 1903 in Eatonville, the daughter of George R and Laura M Hughes Ward. She married Laurence J. Petrie in 1933 in Little Falls. He died November 29, 1952. On April 2, 1960 she married Robert F. Livingston in Herkimer. He died July 22. 1973 She was a member of the Herkimer United Methodist Church.
She-is survived by an uncle and several cousins.
Funeral services will be 10 a m Wednesday in the Fenner Funeral Home, Inc., 115 Court St- Herkimer Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Herkimer. Calling hours are 2-4 and 7-8:30 Tuesday. Memorials may be sent to either the Heart Fund, Cancer Fund, or T B and Emphysema Fund.

Besides the daughter with whom she resided, she leaves another daughter, Mrs. Grorge Herkle, Danielson, Conn.; four sons, Frank, New Hartford, Harold, Newport, Floyd, Middleville, and Kenneth, Marcy. Also four sisters, Miss Sarah Getman, Shell's Bush,; Mrs. Nettie Petrie, East Herkimer; Mrs. Richard Harter and Mrs. Hattie Folts, both of Herkimer, and a brother, Frank Getman, East Herkimer.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday from the home of Mrs. Olds, the Rev. Kenneth Scouten, pastor of Newport Methodist Church will officiate. The body will be placed in the receiving vault of Middleville Cemetery for interment in the Spring.

NEWPORT - Mrs. Ruth M. Olds, 80, a resident of Valley Health Services, Herkimer, and formerly of Cook Hill Rd., Newport, died December 7, 1987, at Valley Health Services, after
a long illness.
Mrs. Olds was born October 22,1907, in Middleville, a daughter of the late Foster and Margaret Getman Welsh. She attended Middleville schools, and was married to Burrell Olds, who has operated a farm on Cook Hill Rd. for several years. Mr. Olds died May 26, 1972. Mrs. Olds was of the Methodist faith.

HERKIMER, John H. Folts, 76, former meat inspector for the Federal Depart of Agriculture, died Wednesday night at his home in Kast Bridge.
He retired, 1933, after serving in the Agricultural Department of the United States since1904, in Chicago, New Mexico, and New York City.
He was a graduate of Herkimer High School and Eastman Business College.
He was born, Jan. 29, 1871, in Kast Bridge, a son of William and Nancy Helmer Folts, and on Sept. 6, 1905, married the former Hattie Getman of Shell's Bush section, town of Herkimer.
He was honorary member on New York Chapter, Federal Employes Union; also a member of the I.O.O.F.., the Grange and First Methodist Church.
Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Capt. Burr Folts, stationed with A.A.F., Wright Field, Dayton, Ohio. He is also survived by a brother, Sherman Folts, Penn Yan.
Private services will be conducted at the convience of the family.

Howerd Folts of Kast Bridge, popular and well known young people of our town. The ceremony was parformed by Rev, Charles F. Taylor. Miss Ada Getman, sister of the bride, acted as bridesmaid and Richard Harter of North Herkimer was the best man. After a wedding supper, Mr. and Mrs. Folts drove to this village and left for Niagara Falls, where they will spend their honeymoon. Mr. and Mrs. Folts will reside in Chicago, where Mr. Folts is in the employment of the Department of Agriculture.

Mrs. Becker, whose, maiden name was Miss Emma Fullmer, was born in North Steuben. Oneida County, May 14, 1864, daughter of the late David E. and Amanda Getman Fullmer.
Forty-five years ago she was married to Minot P. Becker of this village who survives with a daughter. Mrs. Delos Riggs. Herkimer: a brother, M. Fullmer, Alder Creek, and two sisters. Mrs. Martha Williams, Utica, and Mrs. B. F. Hughes, Boonville.
Mrs. Becker was a member of the First Methodist Church and the Pathfinder Class of the church.

Remsen - Funeral services for William E. Williams were held yesterday afternoon at his late home in this village with the Rev. Adelbert Warren officiating.
The bearers were Hugh Evans, Evan Evans, William Pritchard and Clement Pureuit (?). Interment was made in Prospect Cemetery.
Mr. Williams who died suddenly Thursday while working on town road construction on Black Hollow Road, was born on Bowen Hill, Town of Stuben, Apr. 8, 1864. He was a son of the late Ellis and Jane Williams.
For several years he had been town superindendent of highways fr the town of Steuben.
Thirteen years ago he and Mrs. Williams moved to Remsen. He had since been employed by the New York Central Railroad.
Fourty-two years ago he married Martha Fulmer, who survives with one daughter, Mrs. Lesleie McGauley, Utica, also several nephews and nieces.

Mrs. Blanch A McGauley, of the Masonic Home, and formerly of 146 Main St. whitesboro, wife of Leslie A. McGauley, died Monday, January 29, 1979 at the home.
Mrs. McGauley was born in Steuben, N.Y. the daughter of the late William E. and Martha Fulmer Williams. She was married to Leslie A. McGauley in 1920. Mrs. McGauley taught school in the Whitesboro School District for several years and during W. W. I and W. W. II, she was employed by the government. She was a member of the Whitesboro Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at the John S. Friedel Funeral Home Inc. Court at York Sts. with the Rev. Leroy M Dancer officiating. Interment will be in teh Prospect Cemetery in the spring. There are no calling hours. In memory of Mrs. McGauley, kindly consider donations to the Masonic Home Building Fund.

She was s member of Boonville Methodist Church; the WSCS; Eli McC--key Bible Class, and WCTU.

BOONVILLE — Benjamin F. Hughes, 87, of 148 Ford St., a retired mail carrier, died at his home Saturday night. He was born in North Steuben, November 28, 1875, son of Reese and Mary James Hughes.
His early life was spent in North Steuben and he was graduated from Holland Patent High School. On November 9, 1898, he and Lillian M. Fulmer were married in North Western. Mr. Hughes attended Plattsburgh Normal School and in 1908 was elected school commissioner of nine townships in northern Oneida County.
The couple resided in Remsen prior to moving to Boonville in 1912. He was a mail carrier until 1940 when he retired. Mrs. Hughes died May 6, 1960.
Mr. Hughes was a member of Boonville Methodist Church and had been Sunday School superintendent and teacher in the Men's Sunday School class for many years. He was a 50-year IOOF member and was a past noble grand of Forestport Lodge and member of the encampment. He was a member of the Rural Letter Carriers Association and president of the Chapel Ucha Cemetery Association of Remsen.
He leaves three sons, Everett C. of Lowville, Ward F. of Garden City, L. I., and Elliott R. of New Hartford; two daughters, Mrs. Mark (Leota) Hill of Boonville and Mrs. Elmer (lone) Normandeau of Saratoga Springs; seven grandchildren and several nieces.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday from the Trainor Funeral Home with the Rev. Alton A. Parker, pastor of the Boonville Methodist Church, officiating. Burial [will] be in Boonville Cemetery.

BOONVILLE—Mr. and Mrs. B. F. Hughes, Ford St., were pleasantly surprised Sunday by their children and several relatives, in honor of their 50th wedding anniversary.
The guests arrived with a fully prepared dinner and wedding cake, and Mr. and Mrs. Hughes were presented with a radio, a gift from their children, and other gifts and a purse of money from the others who attended.
Three of their five children were present: Mr. and Mrs. Everett Hughes, Lowville; Mr. and Mrs. Elliott Hughes, New Hartford; and Mr. and Mrs. Mark R. Hill, Schenectady. Ward Hughes, Garden City, Long Island, and Mrs. Normandeau, Williamsport, Pennsylvania, were unable to be present.
Other guests were: Mr. and Mrs. Delos Riggs and M. S. Becker, Herkimer; Mr. and Mrs. L. A. McGauley and Miss Lula Jones, Utica; and Mr. and Mrs. M. D. Fulmer and Robert Porcher, Alder Creek.
Benjamin F. Hughes and Miss Lillian Fulmer were married in October 1898 at North Western, by the Rev. A. J. Grant, a former pastor of North Western Church, and established residence on the Hughes homestead on Bowen Hill where their children were born.
Mr. Hughes taught school for a number of years, and in 1910 was elected School Commissioner, moving his family to Remsen where he resided during his term of office. In 1913 the family moved to
Boonville and Mr. Hughes became a mail carrier, retiring from service eight years ago.
During the many years they have been residents of Boonville and vicinity, Mr. and Mrs. Hughes have made a host of friends who are extending hearty congratulations and best wishes for the future.

Application for bail for Everett C. Hughes, Boonvllle, who is now being held in the Lewis County Jail at Lowville following his admission to the district attorney of looting the Lyons Falls National Bank, Lyons Falls, will be heard before Supreme Court Justice William F. Dowling in the Utica Court House at 11 o'clock tomorrow morning. James T. Cross of this city and Benjamin A. Capron, Boonvllle, will appear as attorneys for Hughes.
Hughes, former cashier of the Lyons Falls institution, was found locked in the bank's vault on the night of Sept. 3 last, after his cries for assistance had attracted persons living in that vicinity. He related a story of having been forced into the vault by two armed men while he was working overtime on the accounts between 7 and 8 o'clock in the evening.
Operatives of the Pinkerton National Detective Agency, the Lewis County district attorney's office and the state police combed the countryside in search for the culprits who had taken part in the alleged robbery. Every possible clew was run down and former convicts subjected to rigid examinations, but all without avail.
Finally at the close of the bank's business on Saturday noon, Sept. 25, Hughes was placed under arrest on the order of Miller B. Moran, district attorney. Taken to Lowville and examined be admitted the story of the robbery to be a hoax and that he had taken the funds to cover losses suffered in the stock maaket. Everett C. Hughes, 66, of N. State St., Lowville, a native of Remsen, died Sunday in Faxton Hospital, Utica, where he had been a patient for 13 weeks.
Son of Benjamin and Lillian Fulmer Hughes, he was born Feb. 26, 1901, and was graduated from Boonville High School. He and the former Louise Schlieder were married in May of 1935. She passed away in November of 1960.
Mr. Hughes was the owner and operator of the Schlieder Coal Company of Lowville. He was a member of and a trustee of the Lowville Methodist Church, and a member of the Lowville Lodge, F&AM. He also was on the Board of Directors of the Empire State Petroleum and Fuel Merchants Association.
Actively interested in the North Steuben Methodist Church, he was a lay leader there and chairman of the board of trustees of the church, and a member of the North Steuben Cemetery Association.
Mr. Hughes leaves two brothers, Ward F., Garden City, L.I., and Elliott R., New Hartford; and two sisters, Mrs. Mark (Leota) Hill, Boonville and Mrs. Elmer (lone) Normandeau,
Saratoga Springs.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Lowville Methodist Church with interment in the Naumburg Cemetery.

LOWVILLE - Mrs. Everett C, Hughes, 57, of Lowville, a teacher at the Clinton Junior High School for eight years, died at her home here Monday after a long illness.
The former Louise S. Schieder, she was born Dec. 1, 1902, in Lowville, the daughter of John R. and Barbara Schlieder, and was married to Mr. Hughes of Boonville on May 1, 1935, in the parsonage of the Lowville Methodist Church. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. E. F. Beebe.
She was graduated from Lowville Academy in 1920 and from Potsdam Normal School in 1923, and for the next eight years taught in the Clinton Junior High School.
In 1931, Mrs. Hughes returned to Lowville to keep books for her father who then operated the Schlieder Coal Co. Inc. She had been an officer of that firm for the past 25 years.
Mrs. Hughes was a member of the Lowville Methodist Church and its WSCS, and was active in civic affairs.
She leaves her husband: two sisters, Mrs. Erban (Irene) Farney, and Mrs. Charles (Ruth) Geweys, both of Lowville; three nephews and four nieces. A brother. Dr. C A. Schlieder DDS, died several years ago.

Graveside funeral services for Leota H. Hill, who died in Clearwater, Fla., December 4, 1986, will be held at Boonville Cemetery Saturday, at 1 PM.

Mrs. Hill was born in North Steuben July 6, 1904, a daughter of Benjamin and Lillian Fulmer Hughes. She spent her younger life in Boonville where she graduated from high school in 1922 and from Boonville Teachers Training Class.
In 1929, she graduated from Potsdam Normal School and later received a bachelor of science degree in education from State Teachers College in Albany
Her marriage to Mark R. Hill took place in Boonville June 28, 1937. The couple lived in Schenectady where Mrs. Hill taught in the elementary school system. Mr. and Mrs. Hill came to Boonville in 1958. Mrs. Hill taught first grade at Boonville Central School until retiring in 1967. They moved to Florida in 1977. Mr. Hill died September 11, 1979.
Mrs. Hill is survived by two brothers, Elliott R. Hughes, of Clinton and Palm Harbor, Fla., and Ward F. Hughes, of Riverhead, L.I. and a sister, Mrs. lone Normandeau, of Saratoga Springs.
