  Mrs. Violeta Nellis Johnson, 92, of 8 Saratoga Boulevard, died early this morning at her home. She had been in failing health since 1966.
  Mrs. Johnson was a direct descendent of Frederick Getman, one of the first white men to come to this country from Germany in 1710. A tablet bearing the historical note was erected in 1934 by the State Education Department near the Getman homestead between Ephratah and Stone Arabia.
  Mrs. Johnson was born Jan. 9, 1878, in Ephratah the daughter of Renselaer and Sarah Ann Empie Nellis. She had resided all her life in Fulton County, more than 50 years in the city of Gloversville. She was the widow of Alvah A. Johnson.
  Mrs. Johnson was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church, Johnstown. She is survived by one son, Arthur N. Yauney of Gloversville; one sister, Mrs. Bertha Mason of Johnstown; one granddaughter, four greatgrandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

  Mrs. Adora Rumpff Frank, aged thirty-one years, died at her home 58 Oak street. Monday, March 10, 1913,at 12:45 a. m. after an illness of four months.
  The deceased was a daughter of John Rumpff and Lena Nellis Rumpff, and was born in Stone Arabia, N.Y. February 17, 1862. She removed Wellsville when a girl about 10 years of age and has resided here since. Miss Rumpff was united in marrlage to Charles Frank of this city, December 31, 1885. She is survived by her father and mother, the husband and seven children: George, Lana, Frances, Charlie, Katherine, and John of thls city and Mrs. Mae ----seon of East Sprlngfield, N. Y., also two brothers, George L Rumpff West Springrield Pa., and Fred Rumpff of Athens, Pa.

  George Frank formerly of Wellsville, died Sunday at the hospital in Port Allegany, Pa., following an operation for appendicitis. He was employed by the Bell Telephone company and was aged 28 years.

  George Frank, a well known Wellsville young man died August 1, 1915, at the hospital in Port Allegany, Pa., where he had undergone an operation for appendicitis.
  The deceased was born in Wellsville, July 19, 1887. He was a son of Charles Frank and Dora Rumpff Frank, and had resided in Wellsville all his life excepting the past five years which had been spent in Port Allegany, where he was employed by the Bell Telephone Company, as a lineman. He is survived by a wife, formerly Miss Alice Weyble to whom he was united in marriage in March, 1915, at Port Allegany, by his father and the following sisters and brothers: Mrs. Lester F. Bacon. Canaseraga; Miss Lena Frank, Miss Katherine Frank, Charles Frank and John Frank, all of Wellsville.
  Mr. Frank was a member of the Genesee Hose Company and a communcant of St. John's Episcopal church.

—Dr. Christopher Best, 80. Whose 58 years of medical practice ended with his death yesterday, had for his last patient the man who had also been his first. It was revealed that on February 6, 1876, the young doctor who had just hung out his shingle, had a small child for his first patient. Last Monday A. Wayne Stevenson, now in middle age, called again—He bad been the child who called in 1876.

 - Wedding Announcement (Schenectady Gazette, Thursday, June 16, 1932)
  The marriage of Miss Winified Mae Wilkie, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William E. Wilkie of Ray street, to Dr. Duncan Leonard Best, son of Dr. and Mrs. C. S. Best of Middleburg, took place Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock at the home of the bride's parents. Rev. Hale F. Thornberry of the First Baptist Church performed the ceremony.
  The bride's sister (sic), Miss Emma Best, played the wedding march and accompanied Herman Zink, who sang during the ceremony.
  Miss Wilkie, who was given in marriage by her father, was gowned in pale blue silk organdie, with a small hat to match, and carried a boquet of white roses and delphinium. Her maid of honor, Miss Ethel Mae Britten, wore pink organdie, with a large hat to match, and carried pink roses.
  Winifred Dillon and Alice McNitt, the flower girls, wore frocks of blue and pink crepe respectively. Victor Lord was the ring bearer.
  A wedding breakfast was held after the ceremony.
  Upon their return from a motor trip, Dr. and Mrs. Best will be at home at 2 Clauverwie street^ Middleburg, after August 1.
  Mrs. Best is a graduate of Schenectady High School and the Ellis Hospital Training School for Nurses. Dr. Best graduated from Union College and the Albany Medical College, and is now associated with his father in the practice of medicine at Middleburg.

  Fort Plain - The remains of Rufus Suits, a former resident of the town of Palatine, were brought to fort Plain Wednesday morning and the funeral services held at 1 p/m/ at the Catherine Nellis Memorial Chapel. The remains will be interred in the Fort Plain Cemetery. Before going to New York, Mr. Suits was well known in this section. For 28 years he was connected with the New York School Board. He was an uncle of Mrs. Manly Shults and Mrs. Arthur Shults of this village.

  Getman, Adelbert A., M.D., is a native of Chaumont, and was born December 11, 1851. His father was Christopher Getman and his mother was Mercy A Blodgett. The early youth of Dr. Getman was passed in his native village, where he attended the public schools, passing through them sucessively towards the attainment of higher education, whidh he received at Carthage and Watertown. After completing his studies he taught school for a short time and took up the study of medicine in the office of Dr. H. W. Jewett of Chaumont, afterward graduating from the Albany Medical College, when he took up the practice of his profession at home, where he remained until 1874, and then took a special course in the University of New York. In 1879 he married Emma Ryder, daughter of Ellis Ryder, of Chaumont, and they have one daughter, Minnie, who resides at home. In politics Dr. Getman affiliates with the Democratic party, and has ben the recipient of political honors at his party's disposal. He was the supervisor of the town of Lyme in 1877 and 1878. He is a Mason and holds membership in Chaumont Lodge No 172. Dr. Getman is a gentleman possesing an uncommonly fine personal figure and commanding appearance, is a fine conversationalist and possess those qualifications happily combined which go to make up a successful physician. He is a member of the Jefferson County Medical Society, and enjoys an extensive and lucrative practice throughout the county.

  William B. Getman of Chaumont was nominated by the Prohibitionists of the First Assembly district as assemblyman from the district at the convention held this noon at Leffingwell & Leffingwell's office in the Flower building. The convention was held for the sole purpose of filling this office. At the regular convention held several weeks ago the name of S. V. Barker was put upon the ticket but as Mr. Barker is not a resident of the first district he was not eligible for the nomination.

  Oneida, May 11. — James D. Getman, 69, passed away at his home in Prospect street at 11 o'clock last night following an illness of three months.
  Mr. Getman was born in Cahumont, N. Y., son of the late Abner and Althea Vincent Getman. He had lived most of his life in Oneida and had been employee at the National Casket Company for many years. He was a member of the M. E. Church and Eumenia Lodge. No. 296, 1. O. O. F.
  Surviving are his wife Jennie Pierce Getman, one sister, Mrs. John Ames, Rome; two nephews. Clarence and Lyle Humiston, Rome and several step children.

  Oneida, May 8 —Sarah Jane Getman, wife of James D. Getman, died yesterday. She had been ill for three and one-half years, and, although her death was not entirely unexpected, it came suddenly. The deceased was born in Lee 48 years ago, and had been a resident of Oneida for 10 years. She was a member of the Methodist Church, having identified herself with the church during the pastorate of the Rev. W. H. York. Aside from her husband, she is survived by her parents. Mr. and Mrs. James Bingham of Lee, and two sisters, Mrs. John Castle and Mrs. Charles Castle of Lee. On account of the suddenness of her death Coroner N. O. Brooks was called. After an examination he pronounced the cause of death as mitral insufficiency and Brlght's disease.

  Oneida, Oct. 19.—Mrs. Frances L. Getman, wife of James D. Getman, 80 Lenox avenue, died suddenly on Sunday evening. Mrs. Getman was born in this city June 29, 1861, and has lived here all her life. She was a member of the Eastern Star, No. 21, Order of Amaranth and of the First Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Women'sAuxiliary of the City Hospital. Surviving besides her husband, are two brothers, Bayard F. Lewis, Oneida, and Charles H. Lewis, Brooklyn; three sisters, Mrs. L. W. Hall, Buffalo; Mrs. F. S. Clark, Detroit, and Mrs. L. W. Mack, Oneida; three sons, Milton H. Foster, of Syracuse; Earl L. and Herbert C. Foster, of Oneida; three daughters, Mrs. Clarence Ford, of Sherrill; Mrs. Henry Walters, of Syracuse,and Miss Edith Foster, of this city.
  The funeral will be held at the First M. E. Church Wednesday at 2 p. m.

  Myra Getman, 63, wife of John H. Ames of 720 W. Dominick Street, died in the Rome Infirmary at 9:05 o'clock Tuesday night. Death followed an illness of several months.
  Mrs. Ames was born at Chaumont, Jefferson County on August 25, 1871, the daughter of Abner and Althea Getman and was twice married. Her first husband, Friend Humeston, died March 21, 1897. September 16 1899 she married Mr. Ames at Portland, ME.
  A Rome resident for over 50 years, Mrs. Ames was a member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Tabernacle and of the Ladies of the Maccabees.
  Her husband survives with two sons by her first marriage, Lyle of Rome and Clarence of Syracuse, a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Clarence Humeston, and a granddaughter, Leta Faith Humeston.

  Rome - John H. Ames, 80, 104 Frederick St., retired foreman for the Comstock Lumber Company, died Apr. 7 1941, in his home after an illness of three month.
  He was born in Bangor, Me. and had lived in Rome about 40 years. He married Myra Getman Humiston who died Nov. 27, 1934. He married Mathilda Gleasman on Oct 22, 1935. He was retired in 1936. Mr. Ames was a member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Tabenacle.
  He leaves his wife, two step-sons, Clarence Humiston, Syracuse and Lyle Humiston, Jamaca, L. I.
  The funeral will be conducted at 2 p. m. tomoorrow from the Griffen & Aldridge Funeral Home, 209 N. Washington St., with burial in Evergreen Cemetery.
