The death of Mrs. Alice Nellis Beck, 65 years old, widow of Walter Beck, occurred Tuesday morning at 6 o'clock at her home, 147 Fon Claire street, Johnstown. Death was due to heart trouble. She had been confined to her bed since November. Mrs. Beck was born in the town of Palatine May 11, 1857, the daughter of Peter I. Nellis and Mary Saltsman. She was a member of tho Lutheran church and the grange of Stone Arabia, also the Pythian Sisters of Fort Plain.
Thc survivors are two sons, Clinton and Ward Beck; one daughter, Mrs. Edward Atty of Johnstown: two brothers, J. D. Nellis of Palatine Bridge and John D. Nellis of Fort Plain; three sisters, Mrs. Alma Klock of St. Johnsville, Mrs. John Kilts of Stone Arabia and Mrs. Fraser Nellis of Wagoner's Hollow; also five grandchildren.
The funeral will bo held Thursday afternoon at 2. o'clock at the home. The Rev. William M. Baum, D. D. of Canajoharie will officiate, and the remains will be placed in the receiving vault of the Johnstown cemetery until spring, when burial will be made in thc Ephratah cemetery.

Walter Beck 67 years old, died at the Nathan Littauer hospital in Gloversville yesterday aflernoon at 1:30 o'clock after an illness of two weeks. He was born in Stone Arabia Feb. 16 1855, but had lived here for some time.
He was a member of the Lutheran church of Stone Arabia. Maccabee lodge and the Stone Arabia Grange. He was well known and had made many friends during his life.
Besides his wife he is survived by one daughter. Mrs, Edward Atty, of Johnstown, two sons, Clinton of Johnstown and Ward of Canajoharie; and three sisters. Mrs. Rowena Bauder, Mrs. Delbert Eacker, Mrs. Dewitt Dorn, all of Johnstown.
The funeral will be held from the home 107 FonClair street Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. W. M. Baum, of Canajoharle will officiate and burial will be made in the family plot in the Ephratah cemetery.

Canajoharie - Mrs. Frazier Nellis, 77, died at the home of her son, Assemblyman L. James Shaver, following an extended illness.
Mrs. Nellis, descendant of the well known Nellis family of the Mohawk Valley, was born at Palatine Church, daughter of Peter J. Nellis and Mary Catherine Saltsman.
Surviving are two sons, Assemblyman Shaver and Nellis Shaver, Canajoharie; a daughter, Mrs. Alice Case. Coxsackie; three grandchildren, Mrs. S. CANAJOHARIE - Nellis P. Shaver, 87, of 98 Rock St. died yesterday at his home after a
long illness.
Mr. Shaver was a native of the Town of Palatine and had lived in Canajoharie for the past 73 years. He served as justice of the peace in the Town of Canajoharie for 14 years retiring in 1957. He was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church and the Men of St. Mark's, was a charter member and past president of Fort Rensselaer Club and a member of the Canajoharie Fish and Game Club.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Laura Neach Shaver; a brother, L. James Shaver of Canajoharie; a sister, Mrs Alice Case of Coxsackie. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service will be held at the Lenz Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Friday. The Rev Theodore Hammar, pastor of St. Mark's Church, will officiate. Burial will be in the Fort Plain Cemetery. The funeral home will be open tonight and tomorrow afternoon and evening.

Fort Plain, April 16.—Papers demanding damages to the amount ot $25,000 for alleged breach of promise to marry have been served in tho action brought by Miss Laura Neach of Nelllston against Nellis Shaver of Canajoharie, and unless settlement is effected meantime the case will probably be tried at the term of supreme court to be convened May 31. Fox Sponable of this place is attorney for tho plaintiff and N. J. Herrlck of Canajoharie for the defendant.
Miss Neach alleges that Mr. Shaver has on several occasions failed to live up to promises to marry her, even after going so far as obtaining a marriage license. He is a well known and successful real estate man of Canajoharie, and Miss Neach was long employed in the Maylender store in this village. Mr. Shaver is a divorced man and his former wife is a resident of Canajoharie.

FORT PLAIN, Nov 18. - Frazier Nellis, 77, died early Sunday morning at his home in Wagner's Hollow. He was born April 21 1858, in the Town of Palatine, a son of Edward F. and Nancy Saltsman Nellis.
Mr. Nellis was a member of Mohawk Valley Lodge, Knights of Pythias, Fort Plain, and had been active in affairs of the lodge until ill health caused his retirement.
He is survived by his wife; one brother, Alfred E. Nellis, Fort Plain; two sons, Jay Nellis, Fort Plain, and LeRoy Nellis, St. Johnsville; one daughter, Mrs. Charles Ingraham, Syracuse; two step-sons, Assemblyman L. J. Shaver and Nellis Shaver, Canajoharle; also one step-daughter, Mrs. Alice Case,

Mrs. Alma Nellis Klock. 84. died Saturday morning, August 7, at 1:15 in the Canajoharie Nursing Home, which is conducted by her daughter, Mrs. Katherine Shaffer. Death came after a long illness.
Mrs. Klock was born in the Town of Palatine, a daughter of Peter L. and Mary Catherine Nellis. She was a member of a family prominently associated with the early history of the Mohawk Valley and with its development.
For the greater part of her long life, Mrs. Klock resided in St. Johnsville. She was a member of Grace Congregational Chrisian church, here, and its Ladies Aid society, and as a younger woman was a member and officer of Maquaes chapter, Order of the Eastern Star.
Surviving are three daughters Mrs. Adah King, Northville; Mrs. Katharine Shaffer, Fort Plain, and Mrs. Margaret Wilbur, New Orleans. La.; two sons, John Lipe Klock, Syracuse and Walter Klock, Albany; one sister, Mrs. John C Kilts, Stone Arabia and one brother John D. Nellis, Stone Arabia; also seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The body was brought to the Smith funeral home, this village, at which the funeral will be held on Tuesday afternoon at 8:10. Burial will be made in the family plot, Prospect View cemetery.

ST. JOHNSVILLE -- A descendant of the Klock family so closely connected with the early history of the valley, Lipe Klock, 72, died Friday night in the Amsterdam City hospital. He was in ailing health about two years, but was confined to the hospital only two weeks. Mr. Klock was honorary president of the Klock Family association.
He was born July 30, 1864, at old Fort Klock, town of St. Johnsville, son of the late Amos and Nancy Lipe Klock. After spending his boyhood on the farm connected with the old fort, he entered the employ of the New York Centeral railroad, and was a fireman for many years. He later was given charge of the trestle, which, until a few years ago, was located just east of this village. He held his position on the trestle for 10 years, after which he returned to the farm, which he operated for 20 years. For the last few years he had resided on Lion avenue, this village.
Mr. Klock was a member of the old St. Johnsville band, in which he played the coronet. He was deeply interested in the early history of the Klock family.
Surviving are the widow, who was Mrs. Clara Fox; five children by his first marriage to Alma Nellis: Mrs. Ada Shaut, Schenectday, Mrs. Willis Shaffer, Fort Plain, Mrs. Margaret Wilbur, North Carolina, John Klock, Syracuse, and Walter KIock, Utica; three children by his second wife: Iva May Klock, Lipe Klock, Jr., and Adam Amos Klock, all of this village.
The funeral will be held this afternoon at 2 at the home on Lion avenue, with the Rev. George H. Kling, pastor of the St. Paul's Lutheran church, officiating. Interment will be made in the family cemetery at old Fort Klock.

St. Johnsvllle, April 11, — The funeral of Willard Klock, 38, was held Tuesday, with a private service conducted at the home by the Rev. R. M. Seely of Grace church. Besides the parents, three sisters, Mrs. Adah Shaut of this village, Mrs. Willis Shaffer of Fort Plain, Mrs. Marguerite Wilbur of Texas, and two brothers, John of St. Johnsville and Wilbur of Scotia, survive. The Interment was in Prospect View cemetery.

Fort Plain. Oct. 12.—Fred Klock, aged 18 years, son of Lipe Klock of St. Johnsville, was drowned in the barge canal a short distance below this village Saturday morning at 6 o'clock. The body was not recovered until about noon. It is not known just exactly how the accident occurred, but Klock is supposed to have slipped from the barge he was working on and fallen into the river. It was stated that he was considered a good swimmer. This makes the second young men employed on the local barge canal operations in this village this season to have lost his life by drowning. The remains were conveyed to St. Johnsvllle by an undertaker from that village.

Mrs. Ella Allen Nellis, 73, wife of John D. Nellis, died at her home early Tuesday morning following a stroke on Monday. Mrs. Nellis was born in Ephratah on December 11, 1865, the daughter of Peter and Jane Smith Allen and had resided all her life in this section. She had been a resident of Fort Plain for the last 20 years. Recently Mr. and Mrs. Nellis celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary.
Mrs. Nellis was a member of Fort Plain Chapter, D. A. R.; Fort Plain Woman's Club, the Missionary Society of the Fort Plain Reformed church, the Ladies' Aid of the old Palatine church at Stone Arabia, the Stone Arabia church and the Ladies' Aid and Missionary Society of that church.
The survivors are her husband John D. Nellis; two sons, Carl Nellis of St. Johnsville and Adin Nellis of Fort Plain; on daughter, Mrs. Wilbur Saltsman of Palatine; seven grand children and several neices and nephews.
The funeral will be at the home on Thursday at 2 P. M., the Rev. Stanley Haverly, pastor of the Stone Arabia Lutheran church, officiating. The remains will be places in the vault of the Catheine Nellis Memorial Chapel until Spring when interment will be made in Fort Plain Cemetery.

FORT PLAIN—Mr. and Mrs. John D. Nellis celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Monday. They were given a surprise party during the day by their children, Mr. and Mrs. Carl J. Nellis, Mr. and Mrs. A. Nellis and Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Saltsman. The anniversary was announced over "Cheerio" and the couple were showered with cards, telegrams and bouquets. Their children presented them with a basket of 50 daffodils.
In the evening a mock wedding was held in the presence of several guests. The rooms were decorated with gold crepe paper and the ceremony was performed under an arch of evergreens and flowers with wedding bells. The wedding march was played by Mrs. A Nellis and the bridal party was composed of grandchildren of the couple. After the ceremony a wedding supper was served to 80 guests. A feature of the affair was a wedding cake decorated with a miniature bride and bridegroom and 50 lighted candles of gold and white. Assemblyman L. J. Shaver in behalf of the guests presented the guests of honor with a gift of money.

Mrs. Mary Catherine Kilts, 92, a lifelong resident of the Town of Palatine, died Friday at the Palatine Nursing Home after a long illness. She was the widow of John C. Kilts.
She was born Oct. 27, 1872 in the Town of Palatine.
Mrs. Kilts was a member of the Stone Arabia Reformed Church and had served as the church organist for 35 years. She was a member of the ladies' aid society of the church and the Stone Arabia Grange of which she was honorary chaplain.
She is survived by one daughter- in-law, Mrs. Earl Kilts, and one grandson William Symolon, both of Stone Arabia; two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Fort Plain - The funeral of John C. Kilts, 79, who died Wednesday in Amsterdam City Hospital, was held today at the Gray funeral home. The Rev. Donald Boyce, Westerloo, former pastor of Stone Arabia Reformed Church, officiated. Burial was in Fort Plain Cemetery.
Mr. Kilts had been a patient at the hospital for about a week.
He was born April 12, 1872, in the Town of Palatine, the son of Clark and Malvina Empie Kilts. A retired farmer, Mr. Kilts was a member of the Stone Arabia Grange, the Stone Arabia Reformed Cnufch and the State and National Granges.
Surviving are his wife, the former Mary Nellis; a son, Earl; a grandson, William J. Symalon. all of the Town of Palatine; and several nieces and nephews.

Canajoharie - Amos E. Nellis, 65, lifelong resident of the Town of Palatine, died early this morning at his home in Palatine Bridge. He had been ill of pneumonia for about two weeks. Born July 1, 1877, in the Town of Palatine, a son of Peter and Mary C. Saltsman Nellis, be had lived in Palatine Bridge for 42 years, following the occupation of farming. Mr. Nellls was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Palatine Union Grange and had served as justice of the peace of the Town of Palatine for a number of years. He was also a member of the Montgomery County Peace Officers' Association.
The survivors are his wife, Mrs. Ada Allen Nellls; three daughters, Mrs. Edith Hammer, Miss Hilda Nellis, Palatine Bridge, and Mrs. Alva B. Waffle, Fort Plain; one son, Allen, who is with the U. S. Army; a grandson, Jack Waffle, Fort Plain; a granddaughter, Mrs. Russell Alter, Canajoharie; a greatgranddaughter, Bonnie Lee Alter, Canajoharie; one brother, John D. PALATINE BRIDGE - Mrs. Ada A. Nellis, 74, widow of Amos Nellis, died early this morning at her home at 154 West Grand St., Palatine Bridge.
Born Nov. 22, 1883 in Ephratah, she was a daughter of Anderson and Amy Wood Allen.
Mrs. Nellis had lived in Palatine Bridge the past 57 years. She was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Canajoharie, and its Ladies Aid Society. She was also a member of Fort Rensselaer Chapter, DAR, Canajoharie, the Montgomery County Historical Society and the Palatine Literary Society.
Survivors include one son. Allen Nellis. Miami. Fla., three daughters, Mrs. Edith Hammer and Mrs. Darwin Shuler, of Palatine Bridge, and Mrs. A. B. Waffle, Fort Plain, three grandchildren one great-grandchild, several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the family home in Palatine Bridge with the Rev. Theodore Hammer, pastor of St. Mark's Church, officiating. Burial will be in Fort Plain Cemetery.

Canajoharie - Mr. and Mrs. Amos E. Nellls were pleasantly surprised Thursday evening when about 80 relatives and friends gathered at their home in Palatine Bridge to help celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary.
Seasonal flowers decorated the house and a large wedding cake formed the center of attraction in the dining room. Guesst were from Canajoharie. Fort Plain, St. Johnsville and Johnstown.
Miss Ada Allen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Anderson Allen, Stone Arabia, became the bride of Amos E. Nellls, son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter I. Nellls, Town of Palatine on October 10, 1900. The Rev. Frederick Dutcher, pastor of the Stone Arabia Lutheran Church, performed the ceremony. Attendants at the wedding, both of whom were among the guests Thursday evening, were Miss Mabel Allen, Johnstown, sister of the bride, and John England, present supervisor of the Town of Palatine.
Following the wedding, Mr. and Mrs. Nellis made their home where they now reside. Both active members of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Mr. Nellis, former clerk of the Town of Palatine, is now justice of the peace.

PALATINE BRIDGE - Miss Hilda Nellis, daughter of Mrs. Ada Nellis of this village and the late Amos Nellis, and Darwin Shuler, son of Mrs, Laura Shuler of Johnstown and the late William Shuler, were married Saturday afternoon at 3 in the home of the bride's mother.
The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Paul C. Reisch, pastor of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Canajoharie, under an arch decorated with palms and white bells. Miss Lucille Retallick of Marahville gave a piano recital preceding the ceremony and played the traditional wedding march.
The bride wore a street-length dress of navy blue and corsage of white roses. Her sister, Mrs. Edith Hammer, who was her only attendant, was dressed in navy blue and wore a corsage of yellow roses. Bonnie Lee Alter, niece of the bride, was the ring bearer, carrying the ring in a nosegay of pink carnations and sweetpeas. She wore a blue taffeta dress with plaid trim, full skirt and fitted bodice.
A reception for 60 guests followed the ceremony. Later a wedding dinner for the bridal party was held at Hotel Ten Eyck, Albany.
After their wedding trip to Key West. Fla., Mr. and Mrs. Shuler will be at home at 150 Grand street here. While in Florida they will visit the bride's brother, Allen Nellis, at Miami.
Pre-nuptial parties were given for the bride by Miss Verna McCaffrey of Little Falls and by a group of Beech-Nut employes, also by her sisters, Mrs. Edith Hammer and Mrs. Alvey Waffle.

ST. JOHNSVILLE - St. Johnsville Masonic Lodge. No. 611, Sunday afternoon conducted committtal rites at the cemetery in Oriskany for Gordon Sanders, 58, Herkimer, for many years a resident of this village, who died unexpectedly Friday at his home in Herkimer.
Mr. Sanders, day ticket agent at the New York Central station in Herkimer for 18 years was found dead in bed by his wife, when she sought to arouse him to go to work. Coroner C. C. Whittemore of llion, ordered an autopsy, and said that death was due to coronary thrombosis, a form of heart disease.
He had been a railroad man for 41 years, of which 38 years was with the New York Central. He was born in this village on October 2, 1883, the son of Jacob and Fanny Sanders. He began his railroading career here as a railroad telegrapher. He worked for the New York Central In this village until going to Herkimer, with the exception of three years in the employ of the Michigan Central.
