Rome, March 14. — Byron Saltsman Fox died at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon at his home of heart disease and liver trouble. He has been in poor health the last two years and confined to the bed the last nine weeks. Mr. Fox was born in the town of Palatine, Montgomery county, March 27. 1847, son of the late Frederick and Louisa Saltsman Fox. His boyhood days were spent there. Nearly all his life had been passed in the employ of railroad companies, either as clerk or station agent and in these capacities he had served the Delaware & Hudson Canal company, the R., W. & O. railroad, the Midland railroad and the N. Y. O. & W. railroad, residing in Albany, McConnellsvllle and Sidney. He came here the last time in 1883 to take the position as station and freight agent for the O. & W., and was also the agent for the Adams Express, National and United States Express companies.
It will be 40 years ago next September when he married Miss S. Caroline Bowers in this city, and they have since lived here. In 1889. while in the employ of the O. & W., Mr. Fox, with the late H. S. Graves, opened a coal yard under the name of Fox & Graves, and in 1892 he resigned from the railroad company to devote his time exclusively to the coal business, the business of late years being conducted under the name of the B. S. Fox company.
Mr. Fox was a member of the three branches of the Masonic order in this city, also of Zeba Grotto, Rome council, No. 150, Royal Arcanum, and the Masonic club. He was a pastmaster and trustee of Roman lodge, F. & A. M. He served the Y. M. C. A. as its president, and was also president of the Merchants' association and was instrumental in its' organization and a director at the time of his death. He was a member of the First M. E. church and a trustee of that church, also a member of the official board for a number of years. Besides the wife, Mr. Fox is survived by the following children: Henry B. Fox, of Lisbon, O., Byron S. Fox, Jr., of Rome, and Mrs. R. P. Newell, of this city, also one brother and three sisters, Edwin Fox, of Canajoharle, Mrs. J. Roantree, of Utica, Mrs. Charles Schaver, of Camden, and Mrs. A. E. Post, of Syracuse.

Sherrill, July 2 — Word has been received of the death of Mrs. Carrie Fox Roantree, 79, widow of Jeremiah Roantree, former residents of the town of Vienna, where they were married 60 years ago. For the past 14 years they had lived at Rockvllle Center, Long Island. Mrs. Roantree died at the home of her son in St Louis, Mo.
Funeral services and burial took place at the home of her daughter in Rockvllle Center. She is survived by three children, Mrs. Myrtle Waring of Rockvllle Center, William R. of Jamaica, Long Island, and James E. Roantree of St. Louis, Mo., and seven grandchildren and one sister Mrs. Arthur Post of Syracuse.
Mrs. Roantree was a sister-in-law of the late Mrs. S. H. Brewster of Rome.

Sherrlll. Nov. 1—Word has been received here of the death of Jechamiah [sic] Roantree, 83, a former well known resident of this section, at his home in Rockville Center, Long Island, Monday after an illness of several years. He was born in England, the son of James and Ann Pinkney Roantree, and came to this country with his parents when about 3years of age. Mr. Roantree was a miller by occupation and had conducted grist mills at Vienna, Vernon, Chittenaugo and Clockvllle, bofore his retirement some years ago.
More than 50 years ago he married Miss Carrie Fox of Vienna, who survives. Besides his widow he leaves two sons, William F. Roantree of Jamacia, L. I., and James E. in Connecticut; one daughter, Mrs. Myrtle Waring of Rockville Center; and one sister, Mrs. Maria Bowman of Gloversville. The late Mrs. S. H. Brewster of Rome was a sister. J. L. and H. W. Brewster of Sherrill are nephews and Mrs. E. R. Smith of Oneida is a niece.

Camden, October 23 - Mrs. Shaver, wife of Dr. Charels W. Shaver of this village, passed away at 41:-- last evening; She had been in failing health for two or three years, not greatly improved and for the past year was quite well. Six weeks ago she was taken worse, and since then had contiued to fail. Before her marriage her name was Kate Ann Fox, and was a daughter of Fred and Louisa Fox and was born in St. Johnsville, April 8, 1857. After her marriage to Dr. Shaver, Sept. 13, 1883, they lived for a time in Vienna, and from there they moved to Florence, coming to Camden in 1937. Mrs Shaver soon won for herself an ever increasing circle of friends. She was a woman greatly beloved by all who knew her, always knidly and pleasant in manner, and considerate of others. she was a constant worker in the missionary work of the First Methodist Church of which she was faithful member. She was for years a teacher in the Sunday school and greatly beloved by her pupils, and was also greatly interested in the work of the Women's Christian Temperance Union.
Besides her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Harrison Ward of Taberg, and two grandchildren, Charles Harrison and Katherine Ward, to all whom she was great attached. She also leaves one brother, Edward Fox of Canajoharie; and two sisters, Mrs. Longire (?) of Freeport, Long Island, and Mrs. Arthur P. Post of Syracuse, and several nieces and nephews. Perhaps among them no one will miss her more than her aged father-in-law, John Shaver, who lives in their home. Her constant and care of him through the years completely won his heart's devotion.
The funeral will be attended at three o'clock Wednesday afternoon from the home in Third street.

Camden, Oct, 24 - Dr. Charles Wesley Shaver died yesterday at his home in Third Street after a short illness of pneumonia.
Dr. 8haver was born in Vienna, Oneida County, N. Y., Oct 25, 1856, a son of Mr. and Mrs. John Shaver, but when a child, his parents moved to Buffalo, where he attended the public schools, graduating from the Central School in 1876(?).
His medical cours was in the University of Buffalo, from which he graduated in 1879.
He first located and commenced practice in Constantia, and there married Miss Cora Brown, who lived only about a year. He afterwards located in Vienna, where on Sept. 12, 1882, he married Miss Kate Fox of that village who passed away, October 21, 1923. On June 4, 1925, in this village he married Miss Jean Clelland who survives.
for 10 years before comin gto Camden, Dr. Shave practices in Florence, and his daily circuts took in a large territory in the northern part of Oneida County, and bdding also well known in the county South of Camden, his practice was firmly established when he came to Camden to reside in 1897.
When first coming to Camden, he resided on Second Street, near Miner Avenue, but for several years he had lived in Third Street. Altoghter he had practiced over 48 years.
For a number of years he was Camden's health officer. He was a member and vestryman of Trinity Episcopal Church, and belonged to the Masonic fraternity, Odd Fellows and Maccabees, and the Medical Societies of Oneida and Oswego Counties.
Besides his wife, he is survived by on daughter, Charlotte, wife of Harry Ward of Taburg, and theree grandchildren, Charles Harrison, Katherine and John Wesley Ward of Taberg. The body will be on view in his late office, where friends may call tomorrow from 2 to 9 p.m. and on Wednesday before the funeral which will be held at Trinity Church, at 2 o'clock, in the afternoon. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Johon W. Woesmer, rector of the church, assisted by the Rev. Cecil Taylor of Adams, N.Y.

Sad Drowning Accident
Another casualty has overtaken Durhamville, and one that cannot fail to arouse sympathy in those who acquaint themselves with the facts. Jennie and Freddie Post, infant children of Arthur Post principal of the Durhamville Union school, were playing in the yard adjoining their home, Monday afternoon, until about 2:30 o'clock, when they were missed. Search was made, which resulted in finding the boy alone, and although carefully questioned, he could give no information as to the whereabouts of his sister, the little fellow bing only five years of age. Attention was given to the canal, which runs contiguous with the house, and after a half hour's search the body ws found at 3:30. Her age was 4 years.

CANAJOHARIE, Sept,18. — Edwin G. Fox; 64, died at his home on Moyer street Thursday night, about 11 o'clock, after an illness of only a day, following a stroke of paralysis. Mr. Fox, who had not worked since June' 10, was able to be about as usual, and on Tuesday evening he was chairman of the committee on refreshments at the celebration of the thirtieth anniversary of the local camp of the Modern Woodmen of America. His condition Thursday was very critical, and he gradually grew worse until death resulted.
Mr. Fox was born in Oneida county and was a son of Frederick Fox and Louise Saltsman. He came to Canajoharie some 80 years ago and for a number of years had been employed by Arkell & Smiths. He was a faithful workman and was held in high esteem by his employers and fellow workmen. He was a member of the Methodist church of this village, the local camp of Modern Woodmen of America and Eagle Hose company, No. 2. Besides his wife he is survived by two sons, Harold of California and Charles of New Jersey; one daughter, Mrs. Campbell Watkins of Fort Plain; two sisters, Mrs. Jacob Roantree of Rockville Center, N. Y., and Mrs. Arthur Post of Syracuse.

MADERA, Madera Co. Oct. 22, - Mrs Merab Fox, 60, of El Tejon Hotel, Bakersfield, wife of a widely known hydroelectric power engineer, and Mrs Ruth Etta King, 36, the owner of the Fresno Basic Health Institute, were killed over the weekend in separate accidents near the same spot on Highway 41 about 25 miles east of here.
Mrs Fox was killed instantly about 7 last night when the new car, in which she was returning alone from her Summer home at Bass Lake, overturned. Her husband, Harold K. Fox, was following in another car.
Funeral services for Mrs. Fox will be conducted tomorrow at 2 PM in the Lisle Funeral Home Chapel in Fresno. Rev. L. A. Wood will officiate. Cremation will follow in the Chapel of the Light.
She was a native of Slyvania, Pa. Coming to Oakland in 1915, she later lived in Fresno for 15 years. She was a member of the Episcopal Church in Bakersfield and of the Berkeley Womens Club.
Her husband was the Pacific Gas and Electric Company's chief engineer on the Balch project in the Sierra. He huilt a plant in San Francisco for the Great Western Power Company, and formerly was manager in Bakersfield. He now is part owner of a sand and gravel company in Bakersfield.
Her survivors include a daughter Mrs Emory Wishon, Jr., of Fresno. A son, George Fox, was killed in an automobile accident in June, 1948. He was 26.

ONEIDA — Mrs. Clara Schuyler Kilts, widow of Peter Kilts and daughter of the late Elbert and Marivia Wheeler Schuyler died Saturday night at the home of her daughter, Miss Eva M. Kilts, 467 E. Walnut St. She had been in ill health for several years.
She was born in North Bay, Aug. 3, 1859. Besides the daughter, she leaves a son, Spencer A. Kilts, this city, Mrs. J. E. Bettler of Rockridge, Fla; two nieces and two nephews. She was a member of the First Methodist Church.

ONEIDA - Spencer A. Kilts, 84, of 413 Wilbur St., a retired employe of the Conde Milking Machine Company, died yesterday in Oneida City Hospital after a brief illness.
He was born in Vienna, son of Peter E., and Clara Schuyler Kilts. He had lived in the Oneida area most of his life. Mr Kilts married LaVonne T. Percival at Niagara Falls. She died in 1951. Mr. Kilts was employed for a number of years by the Conde Milking Machine Company retiring in 1959. He was one of the oldest members of the First
United Methodist Church of Oneida, having joined in 1909. He was also a member of Oneida Lodge, F&AM, the Doric Chapter, Oneida, the Rome Commandery, of the Ziyara Temple Shrine of Utica, the Western Shrine Club, and the Madison County Historical Society.
He leaves a sister, Mrs. Guy (Eva) Haskin of Blossvale.
The funeral will be at 2 Thursday from the Vienna Methodist Church. Burial will be in North Bay Cemetery.
Calling hours at the Fiore Funeral Home will be from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 today. Masonic services will be at 8 tonight in the funeral home.

George C. Kilts, well known resident of Fish Creek Landing, passed away last evening, 8:30 o'clock at; his home, after a period of poor healt extending over three years.
Born at Mindenville, N. Y., April 25, 1860, the deceased was a son of the late Alonzo and Mary E. Saltsman Kilts. He married Lucretia Collins at North Bay Feburaty 17, 1887. Mr. Kilts had been engaged in farming for fifty years.
Besides his widow he leaves four daughters, Mrs. Ernest Hill, Sylvan Beach; Mrs. Christopher Ripke, Fish Creek Landing; Mrs. John Schader, Higginsville; Mrs. Leon Loomis, Jewell; one brother, Peter Kilts, Oneida; then grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
The funerla will be held Saturday at 2 o'clock p. m. at the Sanborn Funeral Home in Camden, and burial will be in Higginsville.

Vienna, May 16 — Mrs. Lucretia E. Kilts, 78, widow of George C. Kilts, died Monday evening at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Chris Ripka, Fish Creek Landing, Town of Vienna.
She was born in the Town of Verona, December 20, 1860, a daughter of the late Achus and Lydia Belcher Collins. Her marriage to Mr. Kilts took place at North Bay on February 17, 1887. Mr. Kilts died six years ago. Mrs. Kilts attended the Vienna M. E. Church and had spent most of her life n this section.
Surviving besides the daughter at whose home she died, are three other daughters, Mrs. Ernest Hill, Sylvan Beach; Mrs. John Schader, Verona; Mrs. Leon Loomis, Vienna; also ten grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at the Ripka home on Thursday at 1:30 p. m. d. s. t. and burial, in charge of B. A. Sanborn & Son, Camden, will be made at Higginsville.

He was born in the Town of Palatine and had resided in the Stone Arabia section until last fall, when he moved to Fort Plain.
He was an assessor of Town of Palatine for several years, a charter member of Stone Arabia Grange 690.
He held several Grange offices, was an elder in ths Stone Arabia Lutheran Church, and a member of the Luther League.
Surviving are his widow, Elisabeth Getman Saltsman, a brother, Clarence Saltsman, St Johnsville; a daughter, Mrs. William Snedeker, Amityville, L. I., and six sons, Burdette, Watertown; Herbert, Johnstown; Douglas, Verona Station; George, Donald and Jeremiah all of Fort Plain.

Mrs. Elizabeth Saltsman. 79, widow of Myron Saltsman, died at the home of her son, Donald, Town of Palatine, Sunday after an illness of two weeks.
She was born Jan. 22. 1873, the daughter of George and Elizabeth Reed Getman. She was a member of the Stone Arabia Lutheran Church and a life member of the Missionary Society of the church.
She was also a member of the Dorcas Society of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Fort Plain, corresponding secretary of the Woman's Club, Fort Plain, member of the WCTU, Fort Plain, and a fifty-year member of the Stone Arabia Grange.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Gladys Snedecker, Amityville, L.I.; six sons, Jeremiah Saltsman, Fort Plain, George Saltsman, Stone Arabia, Douglas Saltsman, Churchville; Berdette Saltsman, Watertown. Donald Saltsman, Town of Palatine, Herbert Saltsman, Johnstown; 15 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Swartz funeral home. The Rev. H. H. Mahl, pastor of the Lutheran Church, Fort Plain, will officiate. He will he assisted by the Rev. Stanley Haverby of the Lutheran Church. Stone Arabia. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Fonda.

Clarence P. Saltsman, 87, who made his home with his son, Marion C. Saltsman, 240 Florida Ave. died Sunday morning at the Bennett Nursing Home where he had been a patient for about a month,
Mr. Saltsman was born in the Town of Palatine July 23, 1873, a son of the late Jeremiah and Kathryn Schultz Saltsman and at one time operated a farm at Stone Arabia. In 1918, he moved to St. Johnsville but continued the operation of his farm for several years prior to his retirement. He came to Amsterdam in 1954 to reside with his son.
While in St. Johnsville Mr. Saltsman was active in civic and fraternal affairs and was a past grand of Auskerada Lodge, 814 of the Odd Fellows in which organization he had been a member for over 55 years. He also held the office of treasurer of the-lodge. Mr. Saltsman was a member of St. Johnsville Grange 1526 for many years and attended the Lutheran Church in that village.
Besides His son. he is survived by one daughter. Mrs. Kathryn Walrath Schenectady: eight
grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mrs. Dora Snell Saltsman, 69, died at her home early Friday morning following a heart attack which she had the Saturday night previous. She suffered a stroke about three years ago and had not been well since.
Mrs. Saltsman was born December 31, 1875, a daughter of Joseph and Anna Getman Snell. She had resided in St. Johnsville for the past 35 years.
She was a member of Maquaes Chapter, OES; St. Johnsville chapter DAR and the King's Daughters. She also was a member of the local Rebekah lodge with which order she had been affiliated for more than 40 years, and of its Past Noble Grand's Association and the local Past Noble Grand's club. She was a charter member of the St. Johnsville Grange and a member of the Montgomery County Pomona Grange.
Survivors include her husband, Clarence P. Saltsman, one son Alvin J. Berry and three stepchildren, Marion Saltsman of Amsterdam and Mrs. Raymond Walrath and Leonard Saltsman of St, Johnsville; also one brother, Elmer Snell of this village.
Funeral services were held Monday with a prayer at the Smith Funeral Home at two o'clock and services at St. John's Reformed church at 2:30, the Rev. Norman E. Thomas, pastor, officiating. Burial was made in the St. Johnsville cemetery.

A resident of this village for many years and one who during her residence here was one of the community's most highly regarded citizens, Mrs. Ethel C. Saltsman Wock, was claimed by death at 4 o'clock Friday morning. she was in the Johnstown hospital at the time, having been removed there a few days ago after suffering a relapse from a recent illness while at the home of
friends in this village. Her passing was due to complications. She was first stricken on September 10 while visiting here, but rallied and her recovery was hoped for until her last setback.
Mrs. Wock was born in Stone Arabia, September 15, 1885, daughter of the late Jeremiah and Catharine Saltsman. She spent the most of her life in this village where she and her late husband conducted a confectionary ---- ------ --- ----. About five years ago the family moved to Johnstown and opened a store there. Mr. Wock died about two years ago and his widow continued the business with the assistance of their two sons.
Deceased was a member of the D. A. R., and attended St. John's Reformed church in this village. She leaves two sons, William and Delmar, both of whom live in Johnstown; two bnothers, Myron Saltsman of Stone Arabia and Clarence Saltsman of this village. The funeral was held Sunday afternoon at 2 from the Wock home in this village, Rev. Robert E. Geddes pastor of St. John's Reformed church officiating. Interment was made in Prospect View cemetery.

Kenneth Wock, 52, died Monday morning about 8:30 o'clock at his home, West Main street. St. Johnsville. Mr. Wock has conducted a confectionery business in Johnstown for the past three years, while maintaining his home in St. Johnsville. He returned from business early Sunday morning and complained of illness. Death was due to angina pectoris.
Mr. Wock was born in Fort Plain, November 21, 1991, a son of Mr. and Mrs. William Wock. When a young man he located in St. Johnsville, first entering the jewelry business and later going into the confectionery and cigar business. He was a member of St. Johnsville lodge 611, F. & A. M., and the I. O. O. F. lodge of St. Johnsville.
He married Ethel Saltsman, who survives him. together with two sons, William and Delmar, his parents, all of St. Johnsville, and one brother, Dr. A. Brownell Wock, Johnstown.

L. Kenneth Wock and Miss Ethel Saltsman were united in marriage last Wednesday evening at the home of the bride’s parents by the Rev. C. G. Empie. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jeremiah Saltsman and is a very popular young lady. Mr. Wock, who came here from Fort Plain a couple of years ago and engaged in the jewelry business, is a bright and hustling young business man and a very pleasant and courteous gentleman to meet. Mr. and Mrs. Wock will reside for the present at the home of the bride. The News wishes to join the many friends of the happy couple in extending the most sincere well wishes for a happy married life.

William C. Wock, 91, of Old Trail Road, Fonda, died May 15, at his home after a brief illness. Mr. Wock was born in St. Johnsville, May 20, 1912, the son of L. Kenneth Wock and Ethel Saltsman Wock. His brother, Delmar J. Wock preceded him in death. The Wock Brothers ran a luncheonette for over 65 years on Main Street in Johnstown.
Mr. Wock was a WW II veteran and a member of St. Patrick's Masonic Temple.
He is survived by nephews and nieces.
Services will be private and his remains will be interred at the Evergreen Cemetery in Fonda.
