 - Newspaper Article (Fort Plain Standard, New York, Thursday, November 12, 1925)
Floyd V. Freeman, 47, of the town of Stark, crazed by alcohol and with his mind temporarly unballanced bu the sudden death of his father, David Freeman, 89, carried out his threat of the day previous, when on yesterday, Wednesday morning, he shot himsel through the right temple with a ball from a .22 caliber rifle.
Dr. James W. Graves, coroner, of Herkimer, rendered a verdict of that effect after he had visited the home.
The father, a Civil war veteran, died Tuesday morning. When undertaker Wainman of Jordanville arrived, the son told him of his intention. According to the coroner the man had been drinking heavily and was left alone in trhe house with his father's body.
Shortly before noon Wednesdy, a sister, Mrs. House, arrived and was unable to gain entrance to the home. She summoned Steve Sadlon, a neighbor who forced open the door. They found Floyd's body on the kitchen floor with the rifle nearby. The undertaker arribed shortly after and summoned Dr. Graves. It is believed Freeman has been dead only a short time.
