  Ilion — Harry H. Eckler, 62, of 14 Philip St., an employe of Plant 2, Remington Rand, died suddenly shortly before noon today while at work.
  Death was attributed to a heart attack. Mr. Eckler, a well-known Ilion resident, leaves his wife, twin daughters, Phyllis and Shirley; another daughter, Mrs. Janice Gregg, Ilion, and a son, Robert.

 - Obituary (The Evening Telegram, Herkimer, NY, Thursday, January 4, 1951)
  Ilion—Harry H. Eckler, 60, who had been employed at Remington Rand for 37 years, died suddenly while at his work in Plant 3 yesterday.
  Mr. Eckler was born Feb. 18, 1890, in Mohawk, a son of Oscar and Ina Caples Eckler. On June 11, 1913, he married Susan K. Jarvis in Ilion.
  He was a member of St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church and of the Remington Rand 25-Year Club.
  Mr. Eckler leaves his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Janice Gregg, Miss Shirley A. and Miss Phyllis J., all of Ilion; one son, Robert J. of Syracuse; one brother, Clyde L, of Putnam, Conn., and four grandchildren.
  Funeral services will be conducted tomorrow at 9:30 a. m. from the Applegate Funeral Home and at 1C from St. Augustine’s Church with the Rev. Ernest B. Pugh, rector, officiating. Interment will be in Armory Hill Cemetery.

  ILION — Mrs. Susan Eckler Keller, 78, former Ilion resident, died yesterday in the Little Falls Hospital.
  Mrs. Keller was born Oct. 13, 1890, in Little Falls, a daughter of Charles and Addie Keller Jarvis. She was married to Harry Eckler in 1912. He died in 1951. She was married to Irving Keller in 1954 and he died in 1963.
  Mrs. Keller was a member of St. Augustine's Episcopal Church and Evening Star Chapter. OES.
   She leaves three daughters, Mrs. Palmer (Janice) Gregg and Mrs. William (Shirley) Meehan, both of Ilion and Mrs. Donald (Phyllis) Jonas, Audubon, Pa.; a son, Robert Eckler of Baldwinsville and eight grandchildren.
  Services will be at 1:30 p.m. tomorrow from the Applegate Funeral Home, the Rev. George B. Greene, rector of St. Augustine's Church, officiating. Burial will be in Armory Hill Cemetery.
  Calling hours are from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m today.

  ILION—Miss Shirley Ann Eckler, 56 Third St., daughter of Mrs. W. C. Irving Keller, Miami Shores, Florida, and the late Harry Eckler, and Joseph William Meehan, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph M. Meehan, 19 Pine St., were married here today.
  The ceremony was performed in Annunciation Church by the Rev. Daniel Horan, pastor. The church was decorated with white carnations, snapdragon and gladioli. Miss Clare Burdick sang, “Ave Maria” and "On This Day Oh Beautiful Mother.” Miss Clara Wasmer was organist.
  Mrs. Donald G. Jonas, twin sister of the bride, was matron of honor and bridesmaids were Mrs. Palmer Gregg, sister of the bride, Mrs. John Ledwith, sister of the bridegroom. John Ledwith was best man and ushers were Donald Jonas and Palmer Gregg.
  The bride, given in marriage by her brother, Robert J. Eckler, Baldwinsville, wore a floor-length princess line gown of French faille. The widely gored skirt fell over a bouffant stiffened petticoat. The hipline was swathed with loops of nylon tulle forming a streamered bustle in the back. Nylon tulle edged the low decolletage. A brief bolero was fashioned with long sleeves and a standing collar. Her double flange finger-tip veil of imported illusion fell from a French faille helmet. She carried a prayer book with an orchid and streamers of white shattered carnations.
  The matron of honor and bridesmaids wore spruce green irredescent yarn dyed taffeta, ballerina length with strapless shirred bodice full skirt with a side panel of the same fabric and a brief jacket with standing collar. Their headpieces were of purple violets with a green veil and they carried Colonial bouquets of violets.
  Following the ceremony a reception was held in the Elks Club after which the couple left for a wedding trip to New York and Washington, D. C. For traveling, the bride chose a beige and brown suit with green accessories.
  The bride is a graduate of Ilion High School and is an operator in the local telephone office. She was entertained at several prenuptial parties by Mrs. Donald Wengert, Mrs. George Lahey, Miss Dorothy Moore, Miss Patty Folmsbee, Mrs. Frank Serow, Mrs. James Ninchey, Mrs. Leroy Dekin, Mrs. John Ledwith, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Jonas.
  The bridegroom, a teller in Ilion National Bank, graduated from Ilion High School and attended Utica College. He served 3 1/2 years in the Army during World War 2.
  A dinner party for the bridal party was given by Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Meehan and they were also entertained after rehearsal by Mr. and Mrs. Palmer Gregg.
  Upon their return to Ilion Mr. and Mrs. Meehan will live at 56 Third St.

  Ilion — Russell Eckler, 56, of 82 Central Ave., died unexpectedly yesterday in the Ilion Hospital, shortly after he was admitted.
  A son of Oscar and Ina Kaples Eckler. he was born Feb. 23, 1892, in Mohawk. He married Dorothy Wheeler on Nov. 24, 1936, in Ilion where he had lived most of his life.
  He had been employed at Remington Rand Plant 2 for several years. He was a member of St
Augustine’s Episcopal Church.
  He leaves his wife; one daughter, Ina; one son, Russell, both of Ilion; two brothers, Harry, Ilion, and Clyde, Putnam, Conn., and several nieces and nephews.
  Funeral services will be conducted at 2 pm. Monday from the Applegate Funeral Home with the Rev. Ernest Pugh officiating. Burial will be in Armory Hill Cemetery,

  Ilion - Miss Dorothy Wheeler, Hotel american, was married yesterday afternoon to Russell Eckler, Mohawk, in St. Augustine's Episcopal Church, Ilion.
  The Rev. L. R. Benson, rector, officiated and the couple was attended by Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wake. The bride was attired in an aqua blue gown with hat and shoes to match and wore a ------ corsage. Mrs. Wake wore a black and white gown with matching accessories and a corsage of roses.
  The bride attended schools in Detroit and came to Ilion two years ago. She is employed at the American Hotel, while Mr. Eckler is employed as a mechanic in the Whal-Adder dicision of the Remington Rand Inc. He attended Mohawk schools.
  A pre-nuptual shower was given the bride by employees in the Whal-Adder department.
