Ilion - Mrs. Martha Miller, 90, a native of Litchfield and for may years a resident of Cedarville, died at Middleville Tuesday night.
Mrs. Miller was born in Litchfield, April 6 1945, a daughter of John and Bessie Putnam Palmer. she was married twice, first to Henry Passage, Columbia, who died August 18, 1919. She was married to Frank Miller, December 15, 1920, who died about two years ago.
She leaves one son, George Passage, Columbia and several grand-children.

- On 5 Oct 1814, Jacob enlisted in Capt. Seldon Morgan's N.Y.Militia Co., served on the northern frontiers of NY, and was discharged at Sackett's Harbor on 13 Nov 1814. He was granted 40 ac. of "bounty land" in 1850 and another 120 ac. in 1855. When he died, Catherine applied for a widow's pension and eventually was granted $8.00 per month. Red tape delayed the process for 3 months at one point, and her atty. wrote to Washington that "...the old lady is becoming somewhat impatient!". Jacob was a farmer 1st in Warren twp., then moving to Columbia twp. where he remained.

- Samuel Getman, for many years a resident in the eastern part of this town, died at his

Samuel Getman who had been in failing health for some time died at his home east of Lacona, July 1, 1907. He was born in Columbia, Herkimer county, September 4, 1887, and was a soldier in the Civil war in the 74th Calvary under Captain Calvin Burch. The deceased was a man loved and respected by his companions, his cheerful disposition winning him a host of friends. His wife Sally Ackler Getman, died seven years ago leaving him old and feble. Mr. Getman was very tnederly cared for as a father by Mr. and Mrs. william Robinson. He was of a large family of brothers and sisters of whom only one survives, Mrs. Nancy Manning of Columbia. His funerl was held at his home July 3, 1907 and burial was made in Wesleyan cemetery beside his companion.
