South Columbia ...With the removal of B. J. Oxner and family to their newly purchased home on John street, Ilion, the farm, which has been in the possession of the family nearly or quite six score years becomes the property of Ralph Eckler and the name becomes extinct in town. When the town was a part of Warren John Oxner married Gertrude Orendorf and settled on land adjoining the lands of her father. Conrad Orendorf. and reared a family of four sons and three daughters. John. Jr. married Betsy, a daughter of George Michael Edick and Nancy Clapsaddle, and remained at the homestead. Mrs. Edick was thrown from a wagon in Mohawk and killed in 1843 and the funeral was held at the Oxner homestead. The place has been the home of five generations bearing the name, which its early owners made an honored one.

Marriage Notes for Burton J Oxner and Florence Maria Getman
- Wedding Announcement (Journal and Courier, Little Falls, NY, September 1, 1896)
South Columbia ... Scarcely have two moons waned since the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fayette Getman was the scene of a very pretty wedding that of their daughter Maggie and S. G. Parent, who accepted a call at Fair View, New York. Last Wednsday a large company gathered to celebrate the marriage of their second dauighter — Florence and Burton J. Oxner, The main stairway was garlanded with goldenrod. In the parlor the mantle was banked with ferns and white flowers. An arch correspondingly decorated spanned one corner of the room while from its centre depended the regulation wedding bell of white flowers. Mrs. David Shaul presided at the organ and when the guests were all in the positions assigned them at 3 p. m. announced their readiness by the enlivening strains of "Bring forth the. Bride," which was followed by the wedding march from Lohengren. Mr. George. Getman of Lyons and Miss Edith Stevens of Bridgwater filled the important positions of best man and bridesmaid. Rev. J. H, Shelland performed the ceremony in his most earnest style. The bride was dressed in white and carried a bouquet of white roses and maiden hair ferns. After receiving the congratulations of their friends the wedding dinner was served in the grounds where covers were Iaid for over 80. Ten couples of the young people escorted Mr. and Mrs. Oxner to Ilion where they took the evening train for Niagara Falls and other points in the west. The fine displays of presents were extremely well selected and much admired.
