May 6.—As the day was dying in the west on Friday evening, April 24th, the angel of death visited our neighborhood and removed from our midst our friend and neighbor, Samuel H. Walker. Mr. Walker was born in Root, Montgomery county, July 30th, 1841 being the eldest son of Jacob and Sovina Walker, the latter whose death occurred about two and a half years ago. On Dec 31st, 1860, he was united in marriage to Miss Fannie Relyea of Sloansville, Schoharie county, N. Y. who survives him. The union was blessed by 15 children, three having died in childhood. Besides his widow he is survived by seven daughters:
Mrs. O. B. Sabin of Norwich, Mrs. Minnie Denney of Troy, Mrs. M. A. Dopp of East Syracuse, Mrs. Perry Crysler, Miss Cora Walker and Mrs, M. T. Conghlin of Syracuse and Mrs. E. S. Risley of Albany; five sons, William of Schenectady, Fred of Norwich and Frank, Charlie and David Walker of Eaton; two sisters, Mrs. Helen Youker of Dolgeville and Mrs. David Beers of New Jersey; three brothers, George Walker of Michigan, John S. of Indiana and B. F. Walker of Norwich; also seven grandchildren and one great grandchild and several nieces and nephews. He will not only be missed in the home circle, where he was best known, but by all who were privileged to know him. To know him surely was to love him and the world is better because he has lived. About four weeks ago he contracted a slight cold which later developed into pneumonia, which was the cause of his death. He was a patient sufferer and all that loving hands could do was done to relieve him, but all to no avail. The funeral was held at the family home at l o'clock Tuesday afternoon, April 28th, the Rev. Taylor of West Eaton officiating. The many floral pieces showed the high esteem in which he was held. The casket laden with flowers was tenderly borne to its resting place by the five sons and Murray Sabin.
"Oh, how we miss that pleasing face,
As we tread this earth alone;
But to-night we know he is saved by grace
In the Father's house above."

- Obituary (Madison County Leader adn Observer, Morrisville, NY, Thursday, April 12, 1923)
April 9—Sarah Frances Relyea, widow of the late Samuel H. Walker, died at her home Saturday evening, March 31st. Mrs. Walker had been in poor health for the last four years, but a third shock of Friday night was the immediate cause of her death — when we speak of her death we only mean her physical death, for surely her soul is not dead, but has gone to be with her Savior, who was so dear to her and to whom she surrendered her life in young womanhood. "Mother," for that is the dearest of all earthly friends, was always kind, obliging, tender and forgiving. She had a special love for her home and family. She is gone never to be forgotten; but some day we shall expect to see her with many stars in her crown, because of her loyalty to Christ in telling to others the story of His love. Besides the son David, with whom she lived, are ten other children, Mrs. O. E. Sabin and Fred J. Walker of Norwich, Mrs. Minnie Denney of Utica, Mrs. M. A. Dopp, Mrs. Alice Crysler and Miss Cora Walker of Syracuse, Mrs. B. S. Risley of Albany, William S. Walker of Schenectady, Frank L. Walker of Oneida and Charles P. Walker of Elmira; and seven grandchildren. Two brothers and one sisters passed away at the age of 78 years. Eaton loses one of her most respected residents, and what is our loss is her gain. The funeral services were held at her late home Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, the Rev. B. Everett Squires of the Eaton M. E. church, of which the deceased was a member, officiating. She was laid at rest in Eaton cemetery beside her husband.
Oh, how we miss you, Mother
While here on earth we stay
But well live again to meet you
On the Resurrection day.

Marriage Notes for Mary E Walker and Helom Youker
- 50th Anniversary (Utica Herald-Dispatch, NY, Monday, September 20, 1915)
Dolgeville. Sept. 20.—Mr and Mrs. Helom Youker, well known and highly esteemed residents of this village, are today quietly celebrating their golden wedding anniversary at their home on Lamberson street. A number of friends dropped in to felicitate them on the
occasion, but there was no formal observance of the event. Mr. and Mrs. Youker were married at Charleston Four Corners on September 20, 1865, by the Rev. J. J. Miller, then pastor of the Christian Church of that place. The bride's name was Miss Mary Walker and she was the daughter of Jacob Walker. George Walker, at present residing in St. Charles. Mich., was the best man at the ceremony and Miss Harriett Youker, now Mrs. Amenso Drake of this village, was the bridesmaid. An unusual feature in connection with the event is the fact that not only are these two still alive, but two other witnesses of the ceremony, Warren Youker of Mottville and Mrs. Emma Youker of this village, are still living.
Mr. and Mrs. Youker have always lived in or near this village, having resided for a number of years on their homestead across the road from what is now the hilltop baseball diamond. The farm residence was destroyed by fire some years ago. During late years the couple have lived in Dolgevllle, where they enjoy the kindest affection of a wide circle of friends, who offer their heartiest congratulations. The couple have living three sons, Frank W., William D. and Charles Youker of this village: eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, residents of Dolgevllle.
