 - Obituary (Utica Herald Dispatch, Thursday Evening, January 31, 1918)
After a long and painful illness bravely borne, William Alonso Hatch's earthly life ended quietly at 1:30 yesterday morning. He passed his fifty-first birthday the eleventh of the present month. He was born and had always resided in the home where his life ended and where throughout his illness tokens of kindly remembrance appeared dally. A card from the Rev. A. L. Evans carried the sentiment most appropriately: "It is a good thing to be rich, and it is a good thing to be strong, but it is better to be beloved of many friends." His bright, sunny way and cheerful personality endeared him to a large circle of friends. For more than 50 years Mr. Hatch had been an antique dealer, and had built up a fine business in which he retained his interest to the end. March 13, 1889, he married Carrie E. Burgess and their only child, Carrie Alice, was born October 19, 1898, and died two days later. He was a fine musician and in earlier life was a member of the orchestra, and his fine voice was a valuable asset of the church choir. He was a man of excellent judgment and keen perceptions and will be sadly missed by a large circle of friends in his social and business life.

Lulu Wolcott

 - Obituary (Richfield Springs Mercury, NY, March 10, 1898)
It is seldom that circumstances combine to produce a sadder event than tho funeral 0f Mrs. Leon Griffin, which was attended Feb. 25. 1898. Her young life suddenly terminated Feb. 23, after a three days illness. which attacked her on her 22nd birthday. An infant of five weeks and a boy of two years left motherless, together with the breaking up of a home established doubtless with bright anticipations. These and many other reasons call for sympathy from the community. The writer is unacquainted with any geological [sic]; facts other than that she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Wolcott, of this place. An appropriate funeral service was read at her late home by Rev. George Reynolds and the choir of the Presbyterian church rendered some favorite selections. Rev. S. R. Ward completed the service with a prayer which abounded in appropriate and practical petititions. May the kind Father watch over the little ones.
